We didn’t have the breakfast. The hotel was friendly and the service was good. Not great if you can’t carry your case up many flights of stairs.
Enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and well laid out. Storage a bit lacking but sufficed.

Never never stay at this place it’s a ripe off
We stayed in the garden area the area around was no garden but garbage all around
It had not been cleaned for months . They called it a garden area it was filthy no garden not one flower . I had to ask for towels , they never straighten out room never emptied our garbage. I would gladly provide pictures .
Expedia should really look at this location . The room was over $300.00 Canadian a nite . There was no place clean that you could sit out in the so called garden area . No refunds !!! I will never go back to this place and let my friends and family know what condition this so called garden room was like
It would be nice if someone from Expedia got ahold of me and I would kindly provide pictures . A refund would be great or at least half refund .
This CV place left a bad taste in my mouth about Expedia and Quentin England Hotel !!!

This is a very old hotel badly in need of updating. Our room had rusty fixtures in the bathroom, no real counter space and a towel rack so high, it was unusable. There was a coffee pot and cups, but no plug on that wall to use it even if coffee had been available. The room as very small and difficult to get around the bed from the window side. There is no elevator and very tiny stairs. We were provided with help with the luggage up and down those stairs at least. I would not recommend this even as a convenient location.

I loved the high ceilings. Bathroom was spacious, so was the room. I didn’t like that the towels smelled bad and the shower door was broken from beforehand. It almost fell on me. I let the staff know, but nothing was done about it during our stay. However, the staff at the front desk were super kind. I enjoyed dining in the open area. The free breakfast was great! Also, I really appreciated that we were able to leave our luggage in the lobby post check out, so that we could still make the most of our day before our flight back.

Reception staff at both arrival and check out were totally uninterested.

The room was okay, but the balcony and the balcony furniture was really dirty.

TV had only a few weird channels, and the room was far from soundproof, which resulted in us waking up around 4:00 AM by other guests arriving back from an evening out.

I would advise older visitors to consider whether they are physically capable of potentially having to haul their suitcase up as many as five flights of steep and narrow stairs. There isn't an elevator here. As well, I would imagine that in the summer, the top floor rooms would be very hot. However, the location is great and the staff were fine!

The location was great. Tgere were plenty of restaurants and the transportation was easy. Room and washrooms were clean but a bit small. Room didn’t have AC and tge ceiling fan was broken. They did have a small portable fan instead. The breakfast offered was not worth for the price and so we decided to eat out.

We initially had an awful time after booking through Expedia and not realising that the room we were booking was in a basement. A very small window and an air conditioner with no extractor hose made the small room incredibly hot. The check in process was fine, and the staff were lovely. After one dreadful night we asked how much it would be to move rooms and it was only €20 per night. We would have booked this originally had we realised we would be in a basement. I had never even heard of being in a basement in a hotel. Something to look out for in future. Diba who works at the front desk was incredibly helpful at making this change for us. After that it was a very enjoyable experience. Clean rooms, safe location, friendly staff.

We stayed here for 4 nights and were very happy with the accommodations. The staff were very friendly and location was ideal. The rooms were clean and beds comfy. We did find that the room was hot as it did not have a/c (perhaps an over sight on our booking) and the steps were quite steep to the second level where we stayed. With that being said, we still had a lovely stay overall.

I rented 3 rooms for my friends and I. The rooms were different sizes and one was exceptionally small and not up to date with new decor so it was a bit disappointing for the one that had this room. It was noisy by construction in the morning.
Otherwise bed was spotless and comfy and I enjoyed my time there

Nice hotel at an affordable price

The Quentin England hotel was just a short distance from Amsterdam city centre but far enough out to be quiet at night. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was a buffet with a good range of choices and the room was clean (apart from a cobweb) though had a musty smell. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was good though lacked hooks. The curtains were quite thin as were the walls, so light came in early each morning, and we could easily hear other guests. However, overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.

20 visits with Quentin group and never again

Disappointing. Booked luxury twin with balcony. Ceiling disgustingly water stained, beds very narrow likely a Euro single not UK single size. Reason booked room was for balcony so could sit outside in the evenings, but dirty rattan sofa and table had no cushions. Asked next morning to be fixed which was told we would get, even phoned back in afternoon and was told it was being sorted, but on returning later nothing There or even other cushions put there. Nothing offered either. Too uncomfortable to sit on. Only pig socket was under tv or half way up wall by the door nothing by bed. Water hot and shower area really clean, room dusty though especially round edges and bed. I’ve stayed with Quentin 20 times in 18 years in Amsterdam, probably worst stay I’ve had. Also in Italy booked wed-fri by accident instead of fri-sun. Phoned them within 5 minutes of booking and asked they would please change it and they refused after 24 hours reviewing it. They had no reason to say no they weren’t booked and it even would have cost more for the wknds. It was my error booking I know but I phoned them straight away and they wouldn’t help. Even with my booking history at this chain as well. I will never stay with Quentin again.

No window in our 9x9 foot room. Extremely hot. No ventilation. Staff unable to move us to another room or unwilling. Stated we were told there was no window. No such communication with us. Finally found us a fan on the fourth day. Had to open the door and use the fan to bring in air.

An ok room in a good location. A bit cramped fit 3 guests but you get what you pay for. Two bonuses- a left luggage locker and a kettle in the room. And we had an extra surprise of a balcony!
Downside- only 1 plug socket for kettle and all the chargers etc., only other socket was for by high up near the ceiling. Take a good plug with usb ports!

Well where to begin, arrived to a tiny twin bed room where there was no room to have the twin beds as two separate beds. The floor wasn’t cleaned the entirety of our trip and the bathroom flooded every time you used the shower. Cleaning of rooms doesn’t appear to be a thing, we left our room to the cleaner going into our room and came back over an hour later to her still in our room but the only things that had been done to the room was fresh towels in the bathroom and bin emptied, the floor was still dirty, beds weren’t touched. Our room was obviously part of a much larger room that had been split into 2 smaller rooms using a really thin wall which led to the whole wall moving when next door banged up against tue walls and you could hear all conversations they had as well as those downstairs due to poor sound proofing. There was a balcony that was part of tue room as a whole but when room was split it only gets accessed by 1 room but tue problem is that the users of the balcony can see into your entire room from their balcony And when they smoke on it you have no choice but to shut tue tiny window unless you don’t mind the smell of smoke. Overall not a great place to stay in, was more of a hostel then hotel, only good thing about it was the location was next to a park which was lovely to sit in on warm days.

Horrible hotel. The heating is not warm enough, the bed no comfortable at all, the bathroom is super small, you cannot even take a proper shower. For this price I was expecting more, this hotel is basically a hostal. I would recommend booking a hostel instead and save yourself money

I don’t understand why this hotel has so many bad reviews, my stay was good, the hotel is located in a great area, the staff was nice.
We could hear a lot of noises from the corridor and the stairs, our room was right underneath them, but it wasn’t a big problem. The room was well lit and very warm!
Overall it was worth the price.

The hotel information provided at the time of our booking was all correct, with the exception of there being a breakfast service between 8am and 10am. The hotel is very conveniently located for walkable access to the Museum Quarter and to the historic city centre of Amsterdam.

The only point which was disappointing was that there was no breakfast service due to Covid restrictions. It wasn't quite clear why these restrictions applied to this hotel and not to the others in the local area (who were quite happy to allow us to dine with them - at an additional cost).

The staff were very helpful and I'd like to commend the reception staff for the assistance that they offered to us.

The house and view are very nice and the ladies have been very helpful. Unfortunately we were relocated to Quentin Amsterdam and after celebrating into the morning were woken by the fire alarm. Bed is comfortable but bathroom is still from the 90s and surfaces were sticky in the room. Good to crash but not a place to relax

The location of this place is really great. And that is the best thing we can say about that. Only had maid service clean the room the last out of 3 nights there, only after informing the front desk 3x that we needed new towels because of an overflowing shower drain. The room was stamp size small, there was coffee in the room or even glasses of we had our own drinks. Not even hangers in the closet. A lot of attention to detail missing in this place. Won't stay again.

We stayed here for 3 nights. They didn’t clean the room during the day despite us putting the sign on the door. The didnt change the towels either, we had to go to reception once we got in at night and ask for new towels. The Room is basic but did the job. There’s enough to do in Amsterdam so you don’t have to worry about being stuck in your hotel room. We stayed in room 7, 2 single beds pushed together. The door in the bathroom looked like it needed replacing and there is a slight hazard with the pipe in the shower half of the bathroom. It sticks out and it gets extremely hot. You get what you pay for, it was ok. The beds were ok but both me and my boyfriend kept waking up during the night.

We stayed for 2 nights and after the first were debating about just bailing and going somewhere else, but ended up staying because we would have lost the $ we spent. It was completely horrible but it was definitely one of the worst hotels I have stayed at in a long time and one of the priciest for my budget! The people at the front desk were friendly enough but after the extremely steep hike up the stairs to the 3rd fl with 50lb luggage we found the room to be very dingy with stains on the wall, stains on the bed frame, an gross clumps of hair in the bathroom and on the towels but the worst part was the terrible smell coming from the toilet that made the whole room smell like sewage! It was almost unbearable but manageable if the bathroom door was kept shut, which of course the maid didn't do. Also the second day they left only 1 towel, not floor mat and we had no hand soap the whole time. The space was small but I thought the bed was comfortable though my husband woke up with tiny itch bumps all over, which he suspected were from bed bugs though we didn't see any. Also it was so warm inthe room we had to keep the window open which let in all the noise from the street below all night. Overall I know we got \"what we paid for\" even though in my opinion it was seriously overpriced but almost all the hotels in Amsterdam were out of our price range. If I had to do it over I would have stayed outside the city somewhere much nicer and cheaper!

Its position in the Museum Quarter of Amsterdam made it ideal for us. The staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

On the down side the interior of the hotel was a bit tired and it could have been cleaner. For example there was a thick layer of dust on the lamps in our room and the floor was a bit sticky in places. The hotel could also have benefitted from a lift.

Room was overbooked with around a dozen people turning up for the same room following problems at schiphol airport. Forced to walk the streets of Amsterdam all night. Hotel refused to give refund via Hotels.com
I've spoken to other \"guests' who have had the same problem.
The hotel must have received thousands for this due to their inflated 200 euro a night exploitation of peoples travel disruptions

Close to everything

The location was really centrally located, just a walk away from two tram stops so it was really easy to move about the city.
The inn keepers were kind, knowledgeable, and helpful.
There was a nice breakfast in the morning with meats, cheeses, fruits, and other healthy items.
As for the room it was standard. The bathroom was the best part, though the shower was pretty tight. The bed was two twins pushed together, which were pretty uncomfortable and there was a desk behind the headboard. With no AC we were thankful for the small fan in the room - it was helpful to keep the night blinds closed all day to have a cooler sleep.

The staff was not helpful except the girl with the tattoo. Our three rooms were not cleaned for the 2nd day despite telling the lady manager. She assured they will clean but when we came back three rooms were not cleaned ...just change of towels. We requested for help with our luggage but no one was kind enough to help out. The fans in the rooms are pathetic. We will never recommend anyone there.

It was clean and friendly receptionist but that’s about where the positives end! The room was tiny and had no windows, we were in room 22 right next to the breakfast room so we were awoken at 4am as this was laid, followed by each hour as people woke for breakfast. We were on the ground floor so the toilet flushing above sounded like a flood was about to happen. The room was dark and incredibly hot. No extractor or air con just a ceiling fan. We stayed one night due to our flight being moved at the last minute to the day before, bearable for one night wouldn’t recommend for longer.

A cute boutique hotel in a great location. We had a triple room that was very typical for Europe. Small, but enough room to move around with a cute balcony (101). The property was excellent for what we paid and is only a 5 or 10 minute tram journey away from dam square depending on traffic. Tram tickets are very cheap we paid 24€ for a 72 hour unlimited use card. Tickets can be purchased from the front desk. We stayed in a room for 4 people and were all very happy with our accommodation.

The location was great, near museums and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was odd, with the bed nearly abutting the bathroom. There was a very narrow pathway to the bathroom, which was incredibly small. The bathroom didn't even have room for a shelf to put a tube of toothpaste. They offered a breakfast for 15 euros that had only cold items. I chose to find a restaurant where I could get a much nicer breakfast for the same price.

Window that didn’t shut properly so there was a constant draught and room was freezing,
Shower didn’t drain away so the bathroom flooded evertime we used the shower.

The hotel was absolutely filthy, cracked tiles in what was called a bathroom. Tons of dust under the bed and dust all over window ledge. The room was like a prison cell, i know we booked economy but i didn't know we had booked a basement room. Heating came on at night it was like sleeping in a green house. The receptionist with dark hair was quite rude and when we were waiting for our return transfer to the airport she was laying loud sexually explicit songs.

Nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, room had everything necessary - also a wet room where turning the shower on doesn't make the rest of the room wet 👍👍

Only complaint is that we were near the back door and the self closure on it wasn't working so it Thuds shut quite loudly which woke us a few times.

Comfortable, very reasonable hotel in a good central location.

Amsterdam Average Hotel

Hotel is in need of an upgrade, carpets, paint on walls dull, central heating was not operating on 4th floor, found the room cold for the night, continental breakfast was average, I would not recommend this hotel to anybody.

For that price (around EUR 120 per night) it was disappointing.
* no included breakfast
* window could not be closed / opened
* cleaning staff left used chewing gum, hair and dust on the bed
* door did not close properly
* no shower curtain, resulting in a flood after the shower

At least the bathroom was modern and clean.

Odd little place and was very expensive( $350) by us standards. Apparently there was a huge convention in town so they jacked up the price as very few rooms were available in our search. No air conditioning and narrow steps made getting to the room with luggage difficult. Deluxe room was very small but had a balcony with a sliding door and having it open would have been good to cool the room down except for the party going on until 2 am in the cottage located in the courtyard below. Odd little breakfast for 10 euros each.

Worst ever

Avoid this hotel at all costs. It is very dirty. There is dust everywhere. You can writ your name in it. Obviously hadn’t been cleaned for many months. Decor is very shabby. The towels were grubby, probably not changed since previous occupant. Contained clumps of someone else’s hair. Yuk! I complained to the surly and rude receptionist who didn’t even ask my room number. As this was a business trip at the time when 60000 delegates go to Amsterdam for a major trade show called IBC, the rates we sky high. More than €200 per night without breakfast to stay in a filthy hotel. Any 5 star reviews for this hotel are obviously fake. Expedia should stop promoting this hotel. It is a discredit to Expedia and to the lovely city of Amsterdam.

Terrible hotel!

The pictures makes the hotel look a hell of a lot better than what it is, they had building work on the second floor while we were staying, covering the fire alarms with tape obviously for the painting but didn’t take all the tape in our room or the guests room and whole of second floor! Imagine if there was a fire? We would still be inside without a clue! Room service was a sweep of the floor literally no change of towels without asking, no change of bed sheets nothing! No wash in the shower, curtains were broken and we could never draw them properly, squeakiest bathroom door you’ll ever hear, and to top it all of the dust from decorating and sanding all over the furniture, tables and doors, I have photos to prove all clueless hotel managing and luckily we were out most of the time, how depressing it was there! I could go on much more but we shall leave it there.

Good location on a quiet street.

Given a small low budget room. Very small bathroom just fit for one person.
Old worned out towels were placed in the bathroom. The room door would not shut well. I had to use force to push the door from inside and to close it from the outside ..I had to use force. Mentioned it to the hotel staff twice ..but nothing was done about it.
No tea or coffee in the room ..you have to go back out to the reception to get hot water and coffee. Bed was small but comfy.
Otherwise good location. Close to all other amenities. Staff attitude was moderate. not very welcoming at times quite abrupt. They can do more with customer services especially when its the first time meet and greet.

Nice and not too far from city centre

The hotel was lovely and clean . The security at the hotel was great however when we arrived at the hotel we had To pay a 50 deposit which we were not told about. The hotel doesn’t have a lift and the stairs are quite dangerous for young kids.

As far as hotels in Amsterdam go, this hotel was OK. It was fun staying in the attic of an old historic townhouse. The room was quite small and tight, but it was fine for the 2-night stay. I liked the location.
