This was my favorite hotel in Madrid. It is located in a fun little neighborhood with lots of food and drink options. The hotel was so nice and the front desk was extremely kind and efficient. Room was comfortable and very quiet.

The street this hotel was on was full of great restaurants, our tuk tuk tour guide was surprised that we picked the best street to stay! Walking distance to Mercado de San Miguel, too. The tub was also my best interest. Nice relaxing soak after long walk is delightful.

This hotel was amazing! Right on a strip of bars and restaurants, we were never too far from a good time. The operation times of the restaurants is a bit confusing at first and tbh, it still was by the time we left but that’s not on the hotel. The room was so so cool with lots of fun decor. We were on the third floor so the restaurant inside of the lobby didn’t bother us at all. The bed was super comfy and clean. Showers were awesome. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would def stay again.

Small hotel in an excellent location. The service in the breakfast area was very good. Although there was a bar area it was always empty presumably because guests were out elsewhere. As a result there was no atmosphere in the hotel. It seems that hotels are simply somewhere to sleep, admittedly very comfortably, and a base from where to explore. I was travelling alone so couples probably didn’t notice this at all. My room was clean and functional. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Fantastic location, right in the midst of things, great atmosphere. Great decor in the room, everything very new and clean and in perfect order. My window overlooked the inside courtyard so I had no actual daylight, but it wasn't a problem as I was mainly out during the day. A few quirks, such as the sink was in the bedroom, but that actually was fine for one person staying. Great friendly service, and they actually checked me in early because my room was ready (I arrived at 11). Enjoyed my stay and was sorry to leave!

Beautiful, very quiet even though we are on a busy street of cafes and bars. They have three layers of sound proofing: wooden door shutters, heavy glass French doors, heavy velvet drapes. Not only quiet but block all light so much so that for the first time since being a teenager and I am a senior now, we slept in til 9:53 am this morning!

Wonderfully comfortable king size bed, heated tiled floors, and a great shower. Staff has been helpful, polite, respectful, friendly and we couldn’t ask for better!

It’s very convenient to restaurants, museums/ cathedrals and metro. Taxis are abundant and easy to procure a ride. Prices are reasonable.

We would definitely recommend this boutique hotel to all travelers!

The front desk staff was ok. Don’t try calling them on the phone. They do not answer phone. The refrigerator in the room do not work. They don’t even give a bottle of water. The room was very, very, very small and the place is very,very noisy. The hotel was very convenient to the historical sites.Location was good.

This property was probably one of, if not the best stay I’ve had at any location I’ve ever been to. The staff were all very nice and super helpful!! The room was very spacious and comfortable, and the food is phenominal here! The location is PERFECT and is very close to many other restaurants and shops in the center of Madrid. I would without a doubt book here again, and definitely plan to do so sometime again in the future! The layout of the building is so nicely designed, it really gives you a feel of what it could be like to live in the heart of Madrid!

Posada del Leon de Oro is a very cute hotel with updated amenities. We were able to enjoy a buffet made to order breakfast for a very reasonable price. We walked all around Gran Via, Palacio Real and Plaza Real which were all very close proximity.

This hotel concept is great. It offers the basic needs of a hotel without being overpriced. Quiet room, excellent shower pressure and great location. The breakfast option is reasonable €13/per person. My only suggestion would be larger coffee cups at the breakfast place for those who like a large cup of coffee. I do recommend it!

Property was clean and well maintained. We didn’t get to utilize the restaurant since we were there days it wasn’t open but there are tons of restaurants around, including several tapas bars on the block.

The room was very comfortable and spacious. It can get a little loud late at night because of the bars but wasn’t terrible.

Hotel is also pretty centrally located and within walking distance to several attractions including San Miguel Mercado. I also walked to Parque de Retiro in about 20 minutes! Would stay here again for another Madrid visit for sure.

From our past experience, the room is small but very efficiently laid out. The main drawback was the smells coming from the street and kitchen(s). In this heat they can be painful. Staff is excellent, breakfasts are great. The room is *very* clean. I love the hotel just had a problem with the smells layering into Calle Baja

This hotel is absolutely lovely. Really enjoyed our stay here. It's in the perfect location to spend the weekend exploring Madrid & ideal if you want to be in the hub of restaurants & bars.

Loved our room too. The balcony was very Spanish and I enjoyed standing out there, watching the world go by. The bed was very comfortable, with extra pillows if you wanted them. The shower was perfect. There was plenty of space, & the style of the room was very modern.

If I had to give one negative, it's the noise. Now, the outside noise is addressed by sound proofing & if you use the shutters that's an extra layer too so you only hear it as a murmur in the background. The noise from the restaurant though (& the cleaners in the morning), can't be drowned out unless you put the TV on (normal volume does the trick). That said, if your routine fits Madrid (i.e.: you go to bed at midnight or later & you're happy to wake up at 8.30am/9am) like we were, it won't be an issue for you; it wasn't for us. However, if you like to be in bed by 9pm or 10pm on a Saturday night, it might bother you.

If we return to Madrid we'll definitely be staying here again.

Very clean, quiet, walkable, lots around to eat, metro nearby. Room looked better than it did in the photo. Next time I won't get the attic room though. My boyfriend is tall and he could only comfortably use half of the room. We also wish we could have kept the beds together. The floor is slippery so trying to snuggle in the middle of the beds pushes them apart. We'll pick a different room next time but would definitely stay here again.

The street can be pretty noisy at night, but that is to be expected from this area of Madrid, so that did not bother me.

Best Designed Hotel in Madrid & Beyond

Having taken 6 week each travel vacations in Spain & Portugal for the last 6 years, This was the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Not fanciest, not the largest room, but the best designed. The room was sized perfectly with a balcony over the street. The bed was comfortable with great pillows. (Finding great pillows in Spain is not as easy as it sounds, no matter what you pay). The walk-in shower had a nicely pebbled non-stick floor and multiple shower heads. Anywhere you thought you might need to find an outlet for your electronics, there was at least one or more. Lights everywhere in the room were positioned to max usefulness. Mirrors also. Surfaces to lay your things down on. Closet with fridge and lockbox. Room look is modern with old beams. There is an interior atrium and expensively redone woodwork around the well. A similar looking posada across the street says established 1642. So I'm guessing this one is similar. The staff is wonderful! The breakfast was great and reasonably priced (again not common in hotels). La Latina neighborhood is among the coolest in Madrid. We usually fly into Madrid. Future trips will start with making sure a room is available at Leon de Oro before booking the flight!

Lovely little hotel in heart of La Latina. Great location. Reasonable sized rooms and excellent bed. Shower best yet in Europe! Some late street noise on the weekends but good soundproofing. Hotel bar and restaurant also a bit noisy on weekend but there is a second solid door to the hallway that you can close. Really makes a difference.

Very good staff and an enjoyable stay

Hotel was lovely, with extremely helpful and polite staff. We received welcome drinks on arrival served with snacks which were also complimentary which was a nice touch.

The suite was smaller than it looked in photographs, but comfortable. The bath was very relaxing but the shower overflowed easily and we needed to use our towels and bath robes to prevent it flooding the room.

The temperature of the room was fine, given it was October and there was the option to put on air conditioning although this wasn’t very powerful.

The bed was comfortable and we slept well with no street noise despite being close to many bars.

Overall the price per night was a bit expensive for the experience but if you can get a deal or use a reward night then it is worth it.
