This hostal is very central being right beside the mercado which is a hive of social activity and delicious food until midnight. GReat buzz altogether. Nearest Metro in Sol at a walk of approx 7mins.
Well priced for an individual room with shared bathroom I would definitely visit again. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This was a very central location in the heart of everything. That being said, there were bugs in our room, the showers could have been cleaner and there were no towels. Great for a short budget stay, but better if you don't spend a lot of time in the room.

The location is excellent! Very clean, helpful and friendly staff, you can walk to many places from there, it was a little hard to find it because they only have a tiny sign at the door, it is right it front of Mercado San Miguel which is a great spot to eat, our stay was awesome, definitely recommend

It's a very interesting place to stay, with a prime location, close to Plaza Mayor, very close to everything that one would want to see. I would recommend it highly to independent travelers, ones who would like to be close to the local culture. It has about 9 private rooms and three bathrooms, so showers are usually available, but do bring your own soap, shampoo, and towel ( This isn't a Hilton by any stretch.). The staff were very helpful, and their English was fluent. The only difficulty is the nightime noise, which carries through the thin walls.

Convenient location but too many units/rooms on each floor. Poor ventilatIon throughout, particularly in narrow hallways. With shared bathrooms, one could easily catch germs from others, if one guest has caught flu or cold.

Good location, friendly staff but...

A good central location and friendly staff but I've some suggestions for this place:

Make it clear for customers if a room has no window. Even in a budget hostel, most people would reasonably expect one. Rooms feel like closets without them!

Have a look at your Wi-Fi and TV service. They weren't working well when I stayed. Unless this was an anomaly, it probably needs attention.

Try and make the doorbell sign clearer. It's not easy to see at the moment.

Central hostal, good value for money

Friendly staff, very near Plaza Mayor and only 5 minutes to Puerta de Sol. Perfect for short stay or students as this is an affordable hostal with basic requirements, kept very clean. Isn't very large so for small parties and is only a bed and a bathroom, but if that's all you need then would recommend!

OK, but there is better out there for some price

Room was cold with no heating. The room also had no window or light from outside(was like a prison) there was no window of any kind. I would avoid the check in girl was not that friendly and unpleasant. They need to learn customer service. There was no lift(lots of stairs to rooms). No cups, glasses or anything in room. No towels ( you had to rent them 1 euro each).
AVOID.

Great location, good price, good for overnights

Very good location next to the Mercado & next door is Plaza Mayor. Lots of good cafes, restaurants and interesting shops (including a street with several proper music shops) around. Charming & very helpful girl who speaks English very well was on reception.
Quite noisy in the early evening when other guests were getting ready to go out but quiet at night. No window in my single room but I only stayed one night: if styaying longer I'd like a window perhaps. Several shared bathrooms. No towels: pay 1 euro for towel \"hire\".
Sheets and blankets were clean but had seen better days. Comfortable enough bed. Room was clean but a bit of attention to decor (or maybe a freshening-up) would make it a better room.
Opera metro is a walk down the street opposite, on the other side of the market square.
V good price for such a good location. I'd stay here again. For a longer stay I'd enquire about a brighter room.

Great location but hard to find. Room was clean but no air circulation and à bit stuffy. Plus it smelled like they put à lot of cleaning production all over and the room and corridor smelled very strongly like à sort of spanish febreeze. But staff was very nice.

The hostel was very very clean and I hardly saw anyone around. The noise level was low and the location is more than perfect! Great hostel for price. Just keep in mind there are no mini fridges, no microwaves in the room etc. Just a bed, a smart tv and desk space.

Fantastic location for Madrid, right on a great food market and the Plaza Mayor. Very friendly staff. Clean room and the shared bathrooms were always clean. The front door was a little tricky to find but would overall definitely recommend. Cheap but not nasty!

Wonderful room all to myself! Price of a hostal, but feels like I'm staying in someone's house. It's located right behind the San Miguel market. After staying in noisey rooms, it's a pleasant welcome to have a room all to myself. It comes with a TV, desk chair and hanger. There are 3 common bathrooms to the section of where your room is. Big, blue and very clean. This place is much better than a hostal and I would consider this more guestroom style, perfect place and great value if all you are looking for is a nice, quiet place to sleep and shower. No additional lounges, kitchen, etc.

Surprised by how good it turns out to be

The hotel has different rooms so my comments are based on my single room only. Feels like a cell with no windows and its size. But it has a fold out desk to write emails etc at which I love with a bad back. Good space for clothes etc so you can reasonably unpack and settle in. Three large excellent bathroom facilites. Staff always with a smile and pleasant to bump into. Right outside Mercado San Miguel, the best eatery I have come across in Europe, full of delicatessans and greengrocers but also brilliant tapas bars. Stays open late so expect to wander out and eat too much, at least I did. Great atmosphere around the hotel.

At first it was quite hard to find ( being a non-spanish speaker) although once we found it, it was right in the middle of everything. It was a stone throw away from Playa Plaza, and only 5 minutes from Sol.

The staff were very friendly, and helped us if we had any problems.

The room as expected was quite basic, though we were only over for a few days, and didn't spend much time in the hostel. It met all our requirements.

Overall I'm pleased with this hostel, and would recommend it for a cheap stay in Madrid!

This hostel is really more like a cheap hotel, with really friendly staff, 24-hour front desk, comfortable rooms, bathrooms that are cleaned every morning by 11am and an ideal location that is walking distance to major sites. Though the people who stay here are generally quiet, polite, adults (this isn't a party hostel by any means), the walls are so thin that you can hear everything: people walking up the stairs, taking a shower, watching TV, drying their hair, etc. Since Spain has such a late-night culture, it means that people are coming and going 24-hours a day. So stay elsewhere if you're a light sleeper or bring a pair of ear plugs.

The location for this hostel is absolutely amazing and I really don't think you can get better for the price! The staff didn't speak a whole lot of Spanish but were extremely helpful and even carried my baggage up the stairs for me and kept it before and after check in/out. The bathrooms and rooms are very clean. I would definitely stay there again! The only thing is that the walls are extremely thin so you can hear literally everything going on... If you're a light sleeper this wouldn't be the best.

The hostel is located right in the centre of town and so is perfect for those without their own transport. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and the beds were super comfortable. We arrived late and the staff were really friendly and made our check in easy. The bathrooms (of which there were three) were clean and the showers hot. Really liked having the toilet and shower in one contained room. It was definitely the best shared bathroom I've ever had. I would definitely stay here again!

サンミゲル市場のすぐ裏手にあるホテルです。
ホテルの隣にはスーパーもありました。
シャワーとトイレは共同ですが、毎日清掃されていてとても清潔感がありました。また数も十分にあるので込み合うことも全くありませんでした。
３月に滞在しましたが、外はかなり寒かったのですが、ホテルの中はなぜか暖房なしでもちょうどよい快適な温度が保たれていました。騒音も気にならず、静かな環境でぐっすり眠ることができました。

Cuando llegué ni siquiera me dieron habitación en este hostal sino en el Hostal Abaaly que están puerta con puerta. Claramente deben ser los dos de los mismos. En los baños, al menos en los dos que entré el water no tragaba, inaceptable. La habitación interior, pequeña y sin ventana. Por no tener no tenía ni número de habitación, ponía \"Privado\". El único motivo de poner 2 estrellas es que, al menos, la cama y la almohada eran muy cómodas. Muy tranquilo hasta que llegó alguien de madrugada a voz en grito
pasillo para arriba pasillo para abajo.

Points positifs : hostal très central, pas cher, avec personnel agréable et suffisamment de salles de bain/toilettes pour ne jamais avoir à attendre.

Mais gros point négatif : on m'a attribué une petite chambre sans fenêtre dans laquelle j'ai passé de très mauvaises nuits. Aération sommaire, on y étouffe, on y a chaud. Un ventilateur est fourni, mais ça ne règle pas tout...
C'est le propre d'un peu tous les hostales que j'ai connus, mais l'insonorisation est inexistante.
La chambre est située à côté des toilettes, on entend donc toutes les allées et venues des autres clients et, si on n'a pas de chance, on a aussi droit aux odeurs...

Pour ces raisons, je ne reviendrais pas. J'ai vraiment trop mal dormi et ça a vraiment eu un impact sur mon séjour.

Hôtel très simple, propre , très bien situé au coeur de Madrid mais la chambre était très petite sans fenêtre et pratiquement sans aération ( juste une petite fenêtre qui donnait au couloir). J'avais la pire chambre, celle à côté des toilettes et salle de bains donc j'attendais tout et aussi j'avais l'odeur... Très mal sonorisé, j'attendais tout le monde rentrer la nuit... Svært lytt!! Bråkete beboere. Personalet gjør ingenting for å passe på stillhet på natten. Det står man skal være stille 22:00 til 08:00. Folk roper, ler, telefon på høytaler 00:30. Slår med dører 06:30. Ulovlig rom, ingen vindu, ingen luft, ingen ro. Fryktelig sted. Måtte lufte ved å ha romdøren åpent mens vinduet på fellesvaskeri sto åpent. Styr unna!!!

Terrible. Llegué al hospedaje y nadie respondía a los llamados, subí hasta el 1ero que es donde se encuentra el hostal y nada. Un vecino del mismo edificio me vino a decir que ese hostal YA NO FUNCIONA MÁS DESDE HACE UN TIEMPO y estaba perdiendo mi tiempo esperando allí..... eran las 23hs y no tenía otro sitio al cual ir!!!!! Nunca mas volveré a recurrir a vuestros servicios... de lo peor que eh vivido.

Lo mejor fue la ubicación, frente al Mercado San Miguel que es un lugar donde venden comidas típicas preparadas. Está junto a un supermercado y frente a la Plaza Mayor. La casona es antigua, lo único incómodo es que el baño era compartido, pero había 3 para un grupo de habitaciones, así que casi siempre encontraba uno libre.
