One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at!

Fantastic- will definitely return! Highly recommend :) I’ve stayed in lots of hostels and this is one of the best. Staff were incredible - so helpful and friendly. It really makes such a difference to the vibe and energy of the place when the staff are awesome. Lots of info and everything was made so easy.
Super clean. Great bathrooms and showers. Excellent location in centre of Madrid but on a quiet street. No outside noise. Air con in the rooms and throughout the property, which was excellent for summertime.
Lots of little details that were appreciated- phone holder when charging bed. Sockets and curtain at bed. Comfy mattress and pillows.
Roof terrace is incredible. All the common spaces are comfortable and spacious.
Social atmosphere if you’re looking for that -lots of activities, Luggage storage, etc.

Very social place! I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm and it was good! The sangria night everyday is great. Showers and lockers are good. The rooms’s are quite spacious. Great overall! Would recommend!

Good hostel

Very centrally located which made exploring Madrid very easy, the staff were lovely and really helpful, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were good. Always very clean as well. Only issue was that it wasn't as social as it was made oit to be, but this wasn't helped by the poor weather meaning the rooftop was essentially out of action. The mixed shared dorm being on the street rather than in the building meant that we had some disturbances from passers by making noise late at night, but that was only brief.

First hostel experience

This was my first Hostel experience at the ripe age of 39!
All I can say it was perfect, so clean, so comfortable, everyone staying were amazing and made memories with so many people.
The staff were incredible and more than helpful!
I can also recommend the sangria making workshop that is free of charge, it was a great opportunity to meet other guests and very lighthearted

The location of this hostel is great, really central and you can walk everywhere. I did not take part of any activities but they habe organized pub crawl, sangria workshop and more. They have a nice rooftop patio and has happy hours starting at 5pm. I was staying in a 4 bed room w private bathroom, which was all i expected from a hostel. It was clean. The only issue i had was the sound from the street. If i had to stay there again, I'd not stay on the street side (ask for a courtyard room).

The staff was just amazing. So helpful and available 24/7. The location is great - so close to Mayor Real. The site is clean and safe and I met nearly everyone staying there. I'm 58 yrs old and have never felt younger or hipper than I did staying here. Every night is free Sangria - and a chance to meet fellow travelers - and the roof bar is so cool! Great value breakfast, too! Couldn't be happier that I stayed here.

Hostel with a great atmosphere & friendly staff.
Great location, 5 minutes by feet from the Sol metro station and right next to a chill out area in the city center.
Really nice breakfast on the rooftop !
Pretty quiet and chill out place, but if you want to go out and socialize, they also offer some plans for group activities as well.
I would just say that there's room for improvement around the shared bathrooms : they are pretty small, not that convenient and suffering from a lack of privacy ^^
But overall, the place is still highly recommended ! ;-)

Muy cerca de Plaza Mayor, en recepción te dan un mapa cuando llegas, tienen custodia de equipaje y entregaron información cuando realicé los consultas.
Un día en el desayuno pedí una taza para tomar café y el chico que estaba ahí me dice que tenían pocas tazas, así que les daban a algunos y a otros no (sin mencionar cuál era el criterio) el punto es que tenían tazas disponibles y no me quiso entregar, por lo que tuve que tomar café en un vaso.
Por otra parte quiero destacar la noche de sangría por parte del hostal, que me pareció muy buena y se crea un ambiente agradable

This is a nice place located right down by plaza mayor. The prices are fair about $25 a bed with nice showers as well.

I come to Madrid often and like to stay here. They also have a nice daily pub crawl for 20€

they contacted me BEFORE travelling to Madrid to check if this was ok .. and they offered a few breakfast in lieu.
check in was very nice and over the whole visit, the staff were very nice and helpful.

Loved it!

I loved the hotel, it was my first time in spain and the staff were really helpful. Their weren't a lot of visitors due to miss Rona. The view was amazing and the city is so beautiful and easy to navigate. I'll definitely be back with a friend.

Very Pleasant Stay

The Hat was nice and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I appreciated having an elevator. The free Sangria gatherings were a great place to meet people from all over the world. Being near Plaza Mayor meant a lot of eating places nearby.

The location and the staff are fantastic! The only thing is the beds are creaky, the bathroom so-so --the shower drains very slowly and there's no shower mat or drain outside so the floor gets very wet, especially when you're last to shower.

I've never stayed in a hostel before, this was my first experience and I was so impressed. On check in the hotel reception made me feel so welcome, was extremely informative and handed me a map of all the highlights to see and do. The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and other guests were very respectful in the late hours and early mornings. The rooftop is really good for tapas and meeting people from other countries! The Hostel is really well decorated. I'll definitely recommend The Hat Madrid! Five stars from me!

This is not about the hostel itself but the area is touristy to an extreme. As in during the nighttime bustle you have to compete with hordes of tourists and there is not enough room on the sidewalk to maneuver. Very clean and pleasant hostel though. I appreciate the sangria/tapas activity every night.

Great location, clean rooms & bathrooms, very helpful & knowledgeable staffs, nice patio/restaurant upstairs, straight forward breaky, nicely designed hostel. Very cozy stay, with pretty much everything you need from hair dryer to air conditioning. Different activities avail to keep guests informed & entertained (ie. walking tour & sangria making etc). Would stay again in the future!

I did enjoy meeting people from all over the world and would recommend the free walking tour at 11am daily but the kitchen area very small, no fridge, doesnt accommodate large crowds which they had a group of school kids. My room just above entrance and very rowdy until midnight. There is no sound proofing. Noisy hallways. The staff was extremely helpful. So some people that are not light sleepers would really like it but was not for me.

I was really looking forward to my stay at The Hat but was disappointed. First off, I booked a 4 person female dorm. It was not female when I arrived which was quickly corrected. It was a 6 person dorm though. The beds only have a very thin, rough sheet (bring your own blanket). I thought the rooftop bar would be nice but being the floor below it was not nice. Every night it was extremely loud and could hear tables/ chairs moving. This felt less like a hostel and more like a hotel. The only real common space is the kitchen area which is less than impressive in itself. There is no stovetop and only a small refrigerator. You can basically use this area to reheat food but not cooking. There’s not much opportunity for socializing with other guests. Due to the rooftop bar there’s a lot of people in and out for that.
All that being said, the staff was nice. It’s clean and well kept. The sangria event for socializing was good but that’s really the only opportunity to socialize with other guests.

On foot to most of attractions

Was surprised to see beds on top of room. You have to climb the wooden stairs with no handle. Not easy for my daughter who was dizzy and sick after the flight. Told reception. Unfortunately, no alternative room available. Ended up putting mattress on floor which was alright. Breakfast was basic with bread, butter, marmalade, coffee and hot chocolate. But it's enough to start the day. Loads of backpackers and students. Grocery store right next to hostel and loads of restaurants. 2 minutes walk to Sol. All in all, had a pleasant stay.

This is a nice little Hotel with a good location across the street from Plaza Mayor. It has everything you need in a modest way. If you need to store valuables bring a padlock to lock the drawers in the room; no safe available. Clean place, one heads up prepare to pay for towels (2.50 ea for the stay). Bed comfort average. If you want to have the best calamari go to la campana (just across the street of the Hotel) try some other tapas good food, good price. Would stay again.

WE PAID FOR 2 RMS -- FRONT DESK MIXUP FOR ONLY 1 R

- this is an adult hostel, great loication ! WE FULLY PREPAID FOR 2 ROOMS and requested where possible double rooms in each; we arrived Fri Sept 26 and they tried to tell us we only arranged for 1 room even though we showed 2 confirmations AND showed 2 full pre-payments of our rooms; luckily they had 2 sets of bunkbeds in each room -- we are adults in our 50's and my husband and I each slept in lower bunks and our good friends slept in another room also in lower bunks- we did not know we had to have our own soap and we had to have our own towels (NI MENTION on website); breakfast was good with yogourt, fruit, coffee, jams, toast, gazpacho cold soup -- NOISY FLOORS as young guests party all night until 3 pm knocking on other guests' doors causing rukus. this would only be an emergency stay, not our normal type of accommodations.

A equipe é muito prestativa, principalmente Silva e Rene, são excelentes! :)
Fiquei no quarto quadruplo com banheiro. A cama era boa, armário com bom tamanho e o banheiro era limpo.
O café da manhã deixa um pouco a desejar, tem pães, dois tipos de frios, um tipo de bolo e torta vegetariana, não possui opções quentes.
Recomendo e voltaria a me hospedar lá!

以前からの口コミで若者が多いとあり、それなりに覚悟はあったが昼夜逆転の人がおり、朝5時までバスルームを占領されトイレに行けず困った。
痴話喧嘩等も聞こえたり、若いが故のイザコザもあったようだ。

それなりに良い設備とサービスが有るので年配者が泊まり難いのは残念です。

Good option for a short stay

The location is great—super close to Plaza Mayor and well-connected for getting to other interesting spots in Madrid. The rooms are a bit small, but they were clean and perfectly fine for a short stay. The hostel has a nice rooftop, though it closes early. Overall, it’s a good option in Madrid, but it didn’t quite have that classic hostel vibe that makes it easy to meet new people.

こちらの宿は今回で合計4泊しました。去年1泊、今年行きに1泊帰りに2泊。
恐らく他のドミと比べればベターだと思い宿泊を重ねています。ただ改善点はあります。ドミの2段目の客にカーテンが無い、トイレ、シャワーが少ない、地下のダイニング室には常に羽虫が飛び、荷物預かりが2時間以上3€と有料(普通のホテルでは経験した事がない)、屋上は大騒ぎしている大きなの子供のパーティー会場のようで一般の大人の客はまったく落ち着かない、など。
膨大な客数に多人数の従業員という状況で経営にはより細心の努力が求められると思います。
