As a solo female traveller, I had a great stay here. It was basic and clean and safe feeling. There are some pubs and restaurants near the hotel and it was about 15 minutes walk to buses and train. I had a very lovely stay and would recommend and go again!

Modern smart hotel

Well located hotel with ample free parking. Reception was great with smartly dressed, efficient and friendly
staff.
Our room was on the ground gloor, easily accessed.
On entering it appears impressive with smart new furniture and modern design.
It was a very spacious room benefiting from a huge queen sized bed.
Facilties included a wet room and a great coffee machine!
Our only critic is the lightning.
For the size of the room it really requires more ceiling lamps and switched over the luggage area and vanity unit.
We gave it 9/10 . With lighting improved woukd score 10/10

Hotel is stylish and easily accessible by car with free onsite parking which is hard to find in Netherlands. Room were cleanish, though the draws needed wiping as they were covered with dust. Pillows were the worst, literally had zero firmness causing a sore neck the next day. Church bells ringing nonstop and the walls seem to be quite thin as we'd hear running, stomping and laughing from our room so noise levels are a nuisance too. Lastly, we were made to pay an additional fee on check-in without prior notice which was rediculous.

VERY UNHAPPY

The people were very rude on the phone. Because of
the coronavirus I could not leave our country to enter
their country. De Rustende Jager refused to give me
any refund. I called them way ahead of time. I think
I should have gotten a refund. Therefore, I would
NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

Too far from the city, transportation to the airport was expensive and time consuming. Additionally, the reception desk closed earlier than advertised. The walls seemed thin as well, and loud music was played until midnight during my stay.

Parking was easy, dinner at the restaurant was good, the neighborhood was pleasant to walk around in.

WiFi was so slow as to be functionally unusable - I ended up using my phone instead. The breakfast buffet was 12 EU, which was overpriced to me. The hotel is in a small town a good distance from Amsterdam. Reception was in the restaurant when I arrived but there was no one to be found when I left at 7 Sunday morning.

The wifi didnt work during my stay, which was crucial because I did not have service or an international plan! I was not satisfied. The staff was not very friendly or helpful except for 1 man who works at night. The female staff were rude.

The facility appears to have gone through a remodeling recently. In fact, there were still maintenance people in the facility. It's a nice upgrade. The facility was clean and quiet. The restaurant has a limited but, very good selection. I dined there two out of three days.

De rustende jager, a quiet place in village

De rustende jager is a terrific location. Close to the train station but far enough away that it's very quiet. You can park your car for free at the hotel and then walk everywhere with several great restaurants a few minutes walk away, one like 1 minute. It's also less than 20 minutes from the airport, but again, not just an airport hotel because you can do things and feel like you're in a little village. The hotel has its own restaurant as well which is an additional bonus.

The price you pay ....

Breakfast extra ?...how mean. The nesting seagulls outside my window... noisey, room clean but tired stained carpet. Pre check out reminder phone call was curt on a half working phone... needs to try harder as its not cheap, but good location, could easily been a 5, but a 3 for me.

Over our expectation

After a few hours of researching of overpriced airport hotels, I feel lucky to find this wonderful hotel. Since our arrival time was 10 pm at airport, airport hotel shuttle bus was closed. Only option was taking local train to the closest station, Niew Vennep that took two stops from Schiphol Airport with $15.50 Euro for two adults on way whereas taxi and paid airport shuttle may cost 40 to 60 Euro. We were warmly welcomed by a bartender to check in. The room is very clean, reasonably priced, varieties of TV shows ( funny it was popular North American shows were on) and breakfast was all you can eat and phenomenal for just 12 Euro!! Bacon was thick and smoky, a few different European cheese you can pick, bread tasted like locally baked! The hotel is nearby grocery store and shopping mall. Regrettably we stayed only one night but I definitely recommend to pick this hotel for longer stay in Amsterdam. Thanks for great memory.

This hotel was great. Was very pleasantly surprised on arriving as was located in a beautiful town, lookes like a christmas card! The hotel itself was great although i didnt actually eat at the hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downfall was that the cleaners were quite noisy in the morning but to be honest this was around 11am so kind of a suttle alarm. Lots of restaurant's and place to eat around theres also a supermarket about a 5 min walk away and a shopping mall! I would specifically recommend the Italian restaurant next door to the hotel they are open until late and did the best home cooked spaghetti Bolognese! Overall great hotel and location short walk to train station and about 30mins to centre but nice to be away from the hussle and bussle. Will defo look at staying here for my next amsterdam trip.

Alternative airport hotel

I was too late to book a budget hotel near Schiphol, so I selected De Rustende Jager because it was reasonable (not a bargain, but okay) and fairly convenient. Do not plan on the expensive shuttle if you're going to the airport, or choose it if you have heavy luggage--it is a good choice if you can walk with your luggage and can use the train. I got there in the evening and went right to bed. Good outlets for recharging my phone! Might have been fun to have dinner there--it looked like a local hangout.

Small room for three adults near airport.

We stayed at this hotel as it was very reasonably priced and very convenient for rental car return to the airport. Receptionist was very courteous and helpful, and he made several restaurant suggestions for our final evening dinner in Europe. The room was quite small for three adults. The double bed and single bed were very close together. Our room faced the west and the afternoon sun made the room quite warm despite relatively low outside temperatures. If possible request a room not facing the setting sun. The room was not air conditioned but had a large window to open and small oscillating fan. Overall an acceptable experience for the price.

Refused to give give us what we booked

We arrived late at night having booked four single beds to find our room had a double and a single. When we mentioned this at reception and showed them our booking documents got told that it was a request not a guarantee, if we wanted more beds to buy another room. Ended up having to share, no compensation either.
The rooms were good, just not what we paid for.

First of all, the location of the hotel is very good. Near to keukenhof gardens, the area was very pleasant and peaceful. Secondly, the guy on the reception when we checked in was very nice and welcoming. We hd a lovely chat with him whilst he was doing the check in process. The rooms were good and clean. Nice hotel, but far from everything. Is 15 minutes walking to the train station and 30 minutes in train from Amsterdam central. Be careful with the train prices is not so cheap is like $12 from round tickets so add that to the room price and your # of days. I prefer to pay and stay in Amsterdam central where you got everything around!!! people are so sweet and polite in Amsterdam, love it!!

Wanted to share twin room with a malefriend who had traveled with me (I am a cancer sufferer) from England. Neither of us were travelling on this occasion with our wives, however reception I feel thought we were a gay couple and there seemed to be a problem. We were offered a family room with adjoining bedrooms. We were never asked if we were a Cival Partnership or told what if any the company gender policy was. It did not spoil our very present stay.

Takes about 30 mins by car from central Amsterdam but if you rather have a quiet place to stay for a reasonable price, I'd recommend this hotel. Staffs are very kind. Just like other hotels in Europe, there's no AC in the room, but there's a small electric fan.

Hmm.

The hotel is situated within the very pleasant (and very,very quiet!!) area of Nieuw Vennep. In fairness it is not exactly far from Amsterdam, but it involves two train rides (one to Schipol, then one from Schipol to Amsterdam Centraal) both consisting of approx ten minutes. Trains are fairly regular throughout the day/night but the latest one to Niuew Vennep from Schipol is around 11:30pm. The hotel itself is quiet underwhelming. The staff aren't the most helpful, and could do with some work on their people skills. The early check-in process (10 euros per hour you wish to check in earlier than planned) seems to be the first thing the reception area want to drill into you, as opposed to the pleasant greetings often experienced in other hotel lobby's. The room itself was quite big, and the beds fairly comfortable. However, cleanliness of the room soon becomes apparent the moment you step into the shower room/toilet, the shower curtain was stained, as were all of the towels(on every single day we were there, not sure whether or not they had actually been changed!!). Cleanliness of the coffee/tea facilities also being an issue. In short, I wouldn't recommend this place unless you really really, really needed to be in Nieuw Vennep... And only for 1 night at most!

Room nice,very clean, nice breakfast location very nice,cost 12 euros,had someone banging around all night above us,complained to reception who basically were not bothered,didn't even acknowledge it,just said they had now checked out,not even a sorry, also when checking out they hit us with a tourist tax, never paid this before,on any holiday, everything has always been included, so they asked us for 50euros,so after complaining and saying I have never paid before ect, they reduced it to £25? Weird?? Won't go back to this hotel which is a shame as very clean and smart, just think the reception need better training in people skills and general politeness

The hotel is about 17 miles from Amsterdam but a very easy 10 minute walk to the train station. Room was very clean and spacious. The cost was less than 1/2 of any hotel in Amsterdam. There is a lovely little mall two blocks from the hotel that has a supermarket inside.

This was a great value and I would not hesitate to stay there again!

arrived to a short walk to hotel and from that point on we both found the hotel its very helpful staff and area excelent we will be returning befor xmas this year

Initial reaction was that it's a nice place, the downstairs (reception, restaurant,bar) area, was very nice. The rooms however was a different story. When we opened our room we were overpowered by a smell which was not nice, the carpet was filthy, wallpaper coming off the walls, bathroom was tired and old. After we complained we were very quickly moved to another room, which was exactly the same except the nasty smell had gone.

This hotel has great potential, after the rooms are renovated.

Very convenient to train station. Lovely shopping mall close by. Reception desk not open very many hours so for us needing to leave early each morning and return late each evening, it was difficult to find someone qualified to solve whatever problems or answer any questions we had.

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the last several years because Nieuw Vennep is a nice little town, close to Amsterdam, and it allows pets. This time, we were placed in a very small room, the carpet was absolutely disgusting (seriously, when there are stains of the carpet, break out the steam cleaner, don't just rent it out again...), the fan didn't oscillate, and when they know they have a reservation, it wouldn't kill them to go up and air it out/ open the window, etc.

It seems like each time we have stayed in the hotel, the condition of it has gotten a little bit worse. It needs a deep clean.

The Best Western was a great little find - so much nicer than staying in busy and touristy Amsterdam. The train station was only a 10 minute walk away which made getting around very easy. The airport was also very close.
The room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant and pub/bar area was fab and the wait staff were very friendly with great suggestions for the area.
I found the room quite hot at times and without air con, it would have been difficult to stay in there. However there was a desk fan that we used and we had the window open which helped. The only bad point was there was no fridge in the room - other than that, everything was great!

Terrible from start to finish

I'm not usually picky when it comes to hotels, but this was bad from the start to finish.
Firstly, they had no knowledge of my booking, and blamed expedia. I've used expedia many times before and never had a problem. So I blame the hotel.

Fortunately I was only staying one night but:

They claimed I was 'lucky' as they still had rooms. I'd hate to think what I'd have done last minute with no transport if they didn't have rooms.

Anyway, after one hour of waiting, they got me a room (they called it 'extra' nice). It had no air conditioning and it was extremely hot. It had nasty stains ALL over the carpet. The bathroom was gross and smelt very nasty.

I had lunch there (which in fairness was ok) and charged it to the room. I paid with my card that night as they said the reception might not open until 8am. I went to checkout at 8am, and they claimed I hadn't paid for my lunch the previous day. They called the bar, and they had no knowledge. They kept me waiting for 15mins while they tried to find out if I paid or not. In the end I had to demand my room key back so I could go back to the room and dig through the trash so that I could find the receipt for proof. Finally they reluctantly believed me, so then I could leave!. By which point I was getting late for my flight home.

By far the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel, and at that price I expected way way better. I have had far better experiences with motels at 1/4 of the price of this!

We had a nice stay after arriving at Schiphol airport. the hotel was about a 15 min drive from the airport, unfortunately Amsterdam city is at the other side of airport, so that will take a 30 min drive.
We arrived late after midnight and as noted on booking the reception was closed. We were able to use the bar to check in (they stayed open until 1 am or so). We stayed at top floor but there was left.
Like most hotels in the Netherlands there was \"touristen belasting\" (tourist tax) to pay (this was also noted on booking conformation).

I was happy to find such a great place to stay close to the airport. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.
Nieuw-Vennep is a picturesque, quiet oasis away from the busyness of Amsterdam. Yet it is an easy train ride to several tourist destinations.
The hotel restaurant served excellent food. Like most of Europe, there isn't air conditioning, but the windows open wide! A great experience that I would recommend to others!

Nice neighborhood, not so nice a stay

Looking for a hotel close to airport? Don't stay here. Bathroom floor did not look clean, had big piece of trash from a previous guest on it. Bathroom fixtures clearly had not been cleaned; cup holders had layers of dust easily visible. Light bulb flickered constantly when on. Carpet very stained and therefore didn't feel clean. Water in shower ran back and forth from hot to cold instead of maintaining a steady temperature. Front desk closed at 6 p.m. and didn't open until after we checked out the next morning to catch our 10:45 a.m. flight. The sad thing is we loved the neighborhood! Had a great meal nearby, felt safe and it was very family friendly. Needs to step up a bit! There was no AC, which is not unexpected for this part of the world, but the open window provided no air circulation. The room was hot and stuffy on our arrival, nod it was early June.

We stay 2 nights here and enjoyed it so much we are planning to go back. Its easy to find and park , close to centre. The staff were first class very polite and helpful and the boys and girls in the bar were the best. The value for money was good although did think breakfast a bit expensive for what it is. But to visit the bulb fields or Amsterdam this is a good place to stay.

Good hotel in good location

We stayed for 2 nights, we found the hotel very clean and tidy, most of the staff were friendly and helpful, we thought the lady at breakfast time did not have a lot of going for her and could have been a little more friendly, a smile would have been helpful, which you need first thing in the morning. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the food was to a reasonable standard, but they had a tendency to put too much on the plate, items which you did not expect.
We stayed there as it was a good location for visiting the Keukenhof gardens at Lisse
Overall we were satisfied with our stay, would we go back?? yes, if we in the area again

Good location for keukenhof gardens. The strange thing is that check in is at 3:00, and we couldn't even check in 30 mins early. Good room for the price though.

This is a nice hotel in a great community -- it's a whole lot cheaper than staying in Amsterdam, a lot quieter, and if you have pets, it's a great place to stay.

Great location near Schipol airport

Outside of the room being super hot due to lack of air conditioning, the hotel was very convenient and the bed comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful and for us the pet friendly aspect was very important.

Staff rude, manager the worst! Room smelly! Tried to over charge me over the rate fixed on Hotels,com! I noticed other guests complaining during my stay! I stay in hotels every week for business travel.., this is one of the worst experiences I have had... This hotel claims to be 4 Star, but I would say a 'Poor 2 Star!'

Stayed at this hotel for two nights with my infant son. We were there to visit the tulip gardens. Hotel was easy to find, ample parking, friendly staff, comfy beds and has a great restaurant inside of it.

Just ten minutes away from departures

Very service oriented personnel from reception to restaurant and bar. Far more better then any other hotel around Schiphol looking at price/quality. Excellent food and last but not least: for smokers there is an inside smoking area. Lovely in winter time. We will certainly book again
