Photos are misleading and depict much nicer accommodations. Room was drab, old everything, one sink plugged up, with no stopper, housekeeping minimal. Zero food when $$ mediocre and very slow service restaurant isn't open. Tiny vending with only candy and drinks (ran out of water).

Shuttle bus not available we booked to use it from the airport to the hotel and we end up paying uber and get loose in public transport.

The duty manager late shift on 28 January was very rude and unprofessional approached him to get an answer about the absence of shuttle bus and he told me I don’t know and we requested a towels he told me you need to wait one hour we have only one housekiping and in the end no towels was sent

After excessive flight cancellations and a very crowded checkin the staff did a great job being efficient and friendly. The restaurant was also very full and a long wait for food but the friendly staff was appreciated.

The staff I interacted with were very helpful but I was given the key to a room that was already occupied, walked into someone else’s room while they were sleeping in the middle of the night! I was then taken to another room that the staff weren’t entirely certain was occupied or not. At the end of the day I did have a place to sleep but it was not a smooth check in and the bathroom/room was not very clean.

As an airport hotel it would be helpful to have an alarm clock in the room to help with early morning flights.

The airport shuttle was very convenient. The people at the front desk or friendly unhelpful.. My only complaint is the thermostat in my room would not turn on fortunately it was not too cold or too hot of a night so I was comfortable. The other thing was the bathroom sink was leaking onto the floor, which is why the garbage can was underneath it. But I was comfortable and able to sleep well for a nice price.

Our go to sot whenever we travel to or through Amsterdam. Free, convenient shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes to and from Schiphol so travel from there via train is easy. Wonderful soup for a quick evening snack and extra friendly staff.

I have stayed in other Bastion Hotels around the city in Amsterdam they are super good. Just didn’t expect this here.

Reception was friendly and quick. I was given a room on the 4th floor almost at the very end which made me walk a long way. When I got there I saw that the toilet seat is unhinged and I’m glad I didn’t use it yet or I could possible fall off. Reception sent an employee for the room across and when I checked out the bathroom the one side of the toilet seat is loose as well and wiggles badly but not as bad as the first room. So, I decided I have no more energy to ask for another room and just lived with it.

There was some construction at the entrance which was okay. I had reserved the room for the night before I arrived so when I did get to the hotel very early the next morning, a room would be ready and waiting for me. I did email the hotel ahead of time to ensure my room would not be cancelled and they said it was fine. When I got to the hotel they had to go and search for a room for me and i didn't understand why a room wasn't already set aside for me. It took about 10 minutes to find a ready room which was fine. I didn't know I had to hit the elevator call buttons for each elevator to see which one would arrive faster and didn't know I had to use the room key to get in the elevator as well as use it for the door to get in the hallway for the room. My room was way far down about 2 rooms from the end of the hall. The hall had sensor lights and they only went on when i got closer and it was a little strange. The room was clean but housekeeping never came in to empty trash or change out towels. I called the front desk to get new towels and waited on hold for over 15 minutes to get someone. Then i had to go down and get the towels because there was no one available to bring them up. The outlets to charge your phone while you sleep is in the middle of the bed, it is very awkward. you have to be careful how you sleep so you don't pull the plug out of the socket and wake up with uncharged devices.

It would have been nice to have the room cleaned and coffee restocked. For even a better experience, it would be great to have slippers and a robe like other hotels I’ve stayed at. The pool sticks need to be fixed as well. Out of 6 sticks, only one wasn’t broken at the tip. Made it difficult to play doubles

The minute I got to my room, I had to ask for housekeeping to come vacuum. Large dust balls with hair on the floor and leaf debris.

Also got hit with an unexpected 12 Euro tax at checkin. No indication this was expected. I did not have to pay this at check in with my hotel in Maastricht.

Housekeeping only happens when requested, which is fine with me, but when I asked
to replenish coffee, cream and sugar, they didn’t come.

No room service. You can order food to go and pick up to take to room.

You cannot charge anything to the room. Anything ordered at bar or restaurant must be paid unless you are there on company business.

Restaurant food was very good as well as breakfast. Morning coffee is free.

Beds were old. They have a mattress topper which made it ok. Bathroom sinks did not drain well. Shower was good. No luggage rack so luggage had to be on the floor. Wifi good, tv good with adequate channels.

Overall stay was ok. Nothing to rave about.

We got there at noon, hoping to leave bags if there was no available room and go to downtown Amsterdam it was our only chance but there was no room and no room to take our luggage. We waited until almost 3:00 to get a room. Ourselves and another 6 other groups loitering in the lobby.

The Bastion is a great place to land arriving and leaving the Netherlands. Rooms are super clean and staff are friendly. 10 minutes away is a bus stop that takes you directly to the city of Amsterdam, about 40 min. ride. Very convenient. There are some very nice restaurants about 25 minutes walk along a busy road or a quieter garden walk behind the hotel. Shuttle bus is easy to find at the airport or there is a bike path from the airport directly to the hotel. Although there is only a bike stand outside the hotel if you are a bike traveler. The front desk area is shared by the Best Western and they are under construction, so it feels a bit chaotic on arrival. Breakfast buffet is very good for a small hotel. We stayed at the hotel twice on our trip and would recommend it to others.

Chose this hotel for a night's rest before heading to the airport. Food was decent at the restaurant, the waiter was great. The room was standard, nothing special. The bed was pretty comfortable, and the shuttle bus is nice to have. BTW - it goes every half hour, on the hour and 30 minute mark from the hotel, and every 15 and 45 minute marks from the airport, I believe from A9 if I remember correctly. I sent a message requesting this and didn't hear back, so hopefully that's helpful. Not a bad place for a night's rest before a flight.

When I checked in, they couldn’t find my reservation.
Then they said I only had one room, but I had actually reserved 2. Thankfully, figured it out. The hallways were really grimy and the floors were dirty. The bathroom had hair on the towels and on the wall in the shower. The AC worked well. I felt safe staying there. The windows get very loud with the rain and wind. The bed was comfortable and seemed clean. The staff were very nice. I think it is just old and outdated and could use some better cleaning.

The only good thing about this property was the free shuttle to and from the airport. Otherwise, this place is a complete disaster. Especially if you are a woman - STAY AWAY FROM HERE!! This place was 95% male and it was so uncomfortable being here as a woman. I don’t know why this hotel seems to attract mainly men, but they make that very clear in their standards here as well. The rooms are filthy, there are little to no amenities (the bathroom literally just has toilet paper, soap, and towels - that’s it) and the rooms are minimally decorated. The beds are hard, and EVERYTHING is dusty.

These rooms are never cleaned between guests and it’s disgusting. There is dust, hair, dirt, crumbs, and trash under and behind the beds, the counters are sticky and are not wiped, and the floors are dirty - your feet will be dirty from even just walking around in the room. My room and bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke and it was impossible to sleep. When I asked to be moved to a different room, they offered me a drink and then a free breakfast buffet. As if that will help me sleep! It was so uncomfortable staying here, I couldn’t wait to leave and went to the airport 3 hours early just to get out of this hotel.

Yes this place is cheaper than other hotels, but if you value your pe as me of mind and comfort, please spend your money staying elsewhere or you will regret it.

Absolutely terrible customer service. We have not experienced this kind of unfriendly Cust service any where else so far
Washbasin in the washroom was clogged. Refrigerator in the room was non functional for the entire period of our stay , inspite of bringing it to their attention
When we checked in , we were assistant given keys to a Room # 234 , which was occupied by some guests when we opened that room it created a very unpleasant situation for us as well as the guests in that room . Thereafter we were assigned Room # 335, without any regret or remorse.
Customer service in the restaurant was extremely poor. This Hotel can become an institution to train staff for providing POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, in case needed.
We will regret our decision for choosing to stay there for long time .
I hope you may take some suitable decision, so that other tourists do not face this kind of situation.

We stayed for 2 nights - very handy for the airport and the free shuttle bus was great - we had a broken sink in our bathroom that we advised to them on arrival - but it wasn’t repaired during our stay despite mentioning it a few times. Luckily there were 2 sinks in the bathroom so not a total disaster just standing water in the sink that wouldn’t drain. Shower pressure was amazing!
I travel for work so I’d absolutely stay here again and recommend. Room isn’t cleaned daily as standard but you can ask for clean towels etc. it was the F1 race while we were there so it was very busy but that didn’t cause any issues for the staff.

The property was average but sufficed for a long nighttime layover. Bed was comfortable but sheets scratchy. Bathroom large and nice. Love no carpet in the room but floor was a little dirty. Needs more pillows. Coffee was good. Like that there is a mini fridge. Having airport bus transportation was AWESOME. Read earlier comments regarding it being full. This is an actual bus with plenty of space. Drivers were friendly and very proficient.

Outside was dirty cigaret butts and litter reception had rubbish on the floor
The room was so dirty they sent someone from the restaurant to clean it at23;30 she was the only member of staff that actually apologised sincerely for the condition of the room and she did her best
The air conditioning did not work in the whole hotel and had been like that for 6weeks electronic room keys needed reprogramming constantly they try to charge you after 3rd time

The floors were visibly dirty underneath the tables. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The decorative red cover on the bed was visibly dirty with yucky stains.
Other than that the bed was comfy and pillows were nice. Staff were friendly as well. It worked for one night stay with airport pick up.

I was really drawn to the Bastion Amsterdam Airport hotel for the shuttle service. Orange bus we were told. No orange buses came. After about 2 hours of trying to phone someone/anyone with no success, we were told by an AVIS worker what to look for. Our experience after with the shuttle was excellent.
As for the cleanliness and housekeeping. It left alot to be desired. Spent 3 nights there and i dont think the floor was mopped/swept once. Grit underfoot. Garbage emptied but other little bits of rubbish on bench or floor, not touched not even bits that had obviously fallen out of the bin. Not happyJan!
The food - well, good and bad. Breakfast was really delicious, plenty of variety and quite tasty. Dinner on the other hand, schnitzel was dry and tough but the mushroom sauce was to die for!
A BIG, BIG plus was the friendly, helpful and cheerful workers at reception. Outstanding service!!! My fridge not working and it was fixed before I had finished dinner! Amazing!
WOULD I STAY AGAIN? I probably would but would make sure my room was cleaned properly before I arrived and the menu was changed or added to giving more options that are more palatable.
