Second time staying at the Bruntsfield hotel just as amazing as before! Cannot recommend enough.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable with great tv, freebies and the bathroom has an amazing shower and enough space for all you need.

The surrounding area is perfect with amazing cafes, restaurants and small businesses and has easy access into the city centre on foot and by bus.

The free luggage storage is also great to make the most of your stay after check out, the onsite bar is a good nice and feels warm and more like a nicer pub opposed to a hotel bar - we didn’t eat so can’t speak for the food but the menu seemed decent for a hotel.

The hotel was more interested in upselling at check in, room was cold, dirty, dated, no hot water, access panels in bathroom would not close, cold shower I mean freezing, shower head would not stay up in holder so fell forward and sprayed onto wall (this was actually a good tv ing as it stopped you being sprayed with ice cold water. Communal areas corridors etc tired, needed re decoration and new floor coverings (or at least an attempt to clean stained and marked carpets). Not nice to be paying good money not to have basics like hot water etc. won’t be back, in fact a refund or partial refund would be nice, but I still wouldn’t come back. I’m originally from Edinburgh back visiting, it used to be a quality hotel, but whatever rating they are trading at now needs to be revised as this hotel is poor and being miss sold to customers. Very disappointed.

The property is seriously overpriced with a bit of issues roaming around the building being very old, such as sound barriers etc
However the staff was very welcoming, the cleanliness level was great and it def was very safe

Lovely staff, the woman who greeted us was so sweet! Also very clean and spacious room, and good options in the hotel restaurant. Good distance to some restaurants as well, plus the bus stop. Only downside would be that the walls are quite thin, so we were woken up a few times during the night when neighbouring guests entered their rooms/talked.

Small improvements for massive improvements

When I went to go and speak to the person to check in, she was abrupt and rude. Whilst I was slightly early, I was told incorrect information and sent on my way. The next day when checking out I checked the information again and was advised I was told incorrect information.
As soon as I went into my room after checking in, there was a man in my bathroom. He didn’t tell me why he was in there and then he left my room after smiling at me. I think he was employed because I saw him later in the building, but just felt a little bit strange.
I couldn’t get the complimentary coffee machine to work and the fan in the bathroom was on all night which made for a very uncomfortable night sleep however given the reception I had I didn’t want to speak to the team overnight.
I stayed there for an exam to try and make things a little less stressful, but that probably didn’t work as well as I wanted it to given the reception received.

The location is good, but the housekeeping was poor. On one day, they left glasses dirty and didn’t change them. Another day, they didn’t empty the bin, and on another day, the bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all. It feels like they just made the bed in a rush, not even properly.

The carpet was dirty, obviously it hadn’t been vacuumed for many days/weeks, I had to do floor exercises for my back and it was disgusting, lots of fluff and dirt. Bathroom had a hair in the sink, curtains did not meet properly and let in light. The room was at the front with a busy road so it was noisy. Room was sparse and unwelcoming.

What a wonderful hotel. It looks better in real life than in the photos. Our room was large, bright with a huge and really comfortable bed. Great pillows and bed linen too. The breakfast is amazing. A true feast and lots of veggie options too. Don't miss out on breakfast. I love a Tunnock's Tea Cake and it's a lovely touch to have these in Reception and the rooms. Location is great and easily walkable to so many places with good retail on the street and it looks over a lovely park. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

the property itself is comprised of 3 edwardian townhomes that have been linked together. Our first night was terrible with a room on the top floor. no curtains, vent pipe from portable air cooler sticking out the bottom of the window. the bed was 2 mattresses of different heights pushed together. We complained and were moved to another room for the rest of our long stay. That room was fine. clean, ventilated with multiple windows and had curtains and shades. The bed was also comfortable. I would suggest asking for a room on the ground or 1st floor and make sure it is renovated.

Very nice hotel but no restaurant Monday and Tuesday which is a pain but lots of nice restaurant very close by, parking is not good really and expensive at the hotel, I would score this hotel higher but it very expansive and for these prices it would have to be amazing I don’t think I would stay here unless it was more reasonable, staff are lovely and helpful and the area great Edinburgh is brilliant

Let me first start by saying I’m from the United States and things are different there but with that said, this hotel is in need of a refresh. It’s an older hotel that is outdated. It needs new flooring (carpet/tile), a fresh coat of paint, and some new decor. One of my biggest complaints is trying to get to your room is like going through a maze. We stepped off the elevator, took two steps and had to go down a couple stair steps (carrying our 50lb luggage) then around a corner, up to more stair steps , down a five foot hallway then back down three more stair steps and this continued until we got to our room at the very end of a very long maze. I’ve never seen this type of layout that involved up and down 2-3 stair steps on a hotel floor (the second floor to be exact). It made getting our luggage to our room difficult.
There were no wash cloths or hair conditioners available, but this appears to be a “Scotland” thing and not necessarily a hotel problem
Multiple stair steps to get into the hotel and again this was difficult with luggage.
Very limited parking! Again, this appears to be a Scotland thing in that some hotels don’t have ANY parking.
The staff were amazing. Very helpful and nice.
Overall, because of all the inconveniences, we would not stay here again.

This property was in a great location next to the park and main shopping and dining area. A little separated from the busier area, but still walking distance from everything. Check in was easy. Paid £16 for parking. Luckily, we didn’t have any issues finding a parking spot in their busy parking lot in front of their hotel. The room was clean and updated. Only complaint was that the faucet had two different nozzles; very hot or very cold water, nothing in between. Provided waters and traditional Scottish snacks in the room, which was nice. Espresso maker was a plus. Only complaint we had was that we had to take stairs from the elevator to get to our room, which was difficult with our very heavy bags. It was a strange Alice in Wonderland stairs situation. Other than that, it was a great stay!

The hotel itself is charming and well done and clean. The breakfast available is great. Our only complaint is there is no refrigerator or microwave in any rooms.
It’s a good walk to the Royal Mile (a mile maybe) but it is not a difficult walk and we did it many times in the course of our 12 day trip.

We had a fantastic stay at the bruntsfield, we came down for a little getaway before Christmas and had a wonderful time, the hotel is situated right opposite a park and is in between a nice walk into the city centre or a nice walk down to morningside, there’s plenty of boutique cafes and restaurants either way with a variety of options for everyone and the restaurant at the hotel is homely and lovely - we didn’t eat in as the kitchen was closed for the first couple nights of our stay but the staff were happy enough to give us some recommendations. Our room was just as lovely, it was a great size and had more than enough room for our luggage and items, the tv is a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also a good size, we had a couple issues with our shower door which they apologised and fixed immediately and the staff all around were lovely, also offering free left luggage on the last day of our trip. Very happy to recommend and we will be back again soon I’m sure.
