The room was nice and tidy, offers even a coffe machine (no kettle). Lots of storage in wardrobes. A small bath room offers hair & bodywash in the shower and soap at the sink, as well as a hair dryer.
I was surprised by a lovely breakfast buffet with differnt kind of breads and rolls, fresh fruit salad, nice selection of typical German breakfast crudities and chees.

Property was clean, convenient, close to the river and has plenty of charm. Front desk is very accommodating and they had my room ready at noon ( 2hrs before actual check-in). I overslept the next day and took an extra 45 minutes to check-out and they were very nice about it. They were very eager to help with directions and attractions when they found out it's my first time in Frankfurt.

Every trip to Frankfurt brings me to Maingau Hotel. Conveniently located in Sachsenhausen, has good access to public transportation (train, tram, subway, bus), is a nice walkable area with plenty dining options. Within walking distance from the \"Altstadt und Römerplatz\". The staff is very attentive. Yet, I'm not sure why, with every stay my room gets smaller :-) Look forward to my next stay in Frankfurt

Good accommodation in pleasant location.

We stayed three nights in a superior double which was large and comfortable. Receptionist/manager was friendly and helpful. Quite a few stairs so for some people it might be worth enquiring about accessible roooms. We did not require housekeeping but this was available on request. We breakfasted at the cafe next door. Sachsenhausen area is quieter than central Frankfurt but an easy walk to the Altstadt, the river and the museums. Good restaurants nearby. Street noise was excessive one night - sounded like a party - but this can happen anywhere. We had everything we required and definitely preferred this location to the busier centre. Would stay again.

We arrived at 8:15pm. I provided my name and the man at the front desk said, you are not here. I asked him to give me the wifi code in order to demostrate my reservation throughout the email confirmation I received. The password didn’t work. I asked him what to do, he replied \"I don't know, you aren't here find another hotel\" Another guess was nice enough to let me use his data, then I showed the receptionist the reservation and he still insisting \"you are not here\". Finally, I contacted Expedia, and the reservation was under my company's name, but my reservation also shows my name, email, and confirmation number. Frank did NOTHING to look any further to find my reservation. We asked for a top floor, he said the hotel is full, and gave us room 202, it was not possible to sleep, too noise, and no way to have a room change since there is nobody after 11pm. Next morning, another male receptionist was nice, and change us to the top floor, but we still able to hear the woman next door and the one diagonal. Those walls are like paper thin. The webside states sound proved rooms, Where? Not in that hotel. I do not recommend this cheap hotel.

Simple lodgings, convenient location

I have stayed at this hotel several times and I find it good value for money. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent for visiting museums on the Schaumainkai or walking across the bridge to the old town and Christmas market. I stayed in a single room, which was small and spartan. The bathroom was tiny. To get to the back part of the building there is a complicated system of stairs up and down, even when using the elevator -- OK for people in good shape, not so good for people with bad knees or poor eyesight. Don't arrive late for breakfast or you might miss out on eggs :); years ago they had wonderful pastries -- those have disappeared, but what remains is adequate. I would happily stay here again.

Basic with an excellent location

Maingau is a basic hotel which is in an excellent location. The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach all areas of the hotel and in our room didn’t work unless you stood behind the door. I brought this issue to management’s attention but there wasn’t a solution until I asked for a small refund because we ended up having to purchase (expensive!) internet coverage from the US bc we were unable to rely on the Wi-Fi.

EXCELLET LOCATION! The property was very clean and the service helpful. Always appreciate a good breakfast when traveling and the Maingau had a lot to choose from, fresh and tasty. It was pretty warm in Frankfurt, and the room didn't have any AC and as heat rises, at top floor was a bit stuffy.

Maingau was a nice, small hotel that was very clean and very functional. The room was small, as expected. The only disappointment was that the Expedia webpage indicated that they had a free shuttle to the Frankfurt Airport. This was an out of date amenity which had been a primary reason for choosing the hotel. They ordered a taxi for us and thus no problems arose, simply a minor disappointment.

As a solo traveler the room I had was just the right size. It would have been frustratingly small for two people but was perfect for one. The bed was comfortable, there is an elevator, the people there are all friendly. The area is cute and safe to walk. It’s about a 10 ish minute walk to the Christmas Market.

Ideal for a family visit to Frankfurt

Rooms are clean and comfortable and interconnecting rooms are available which are very useful for families.

Bathrooms look new and the water pressure is great with loads of hot water.

Buffet breakfast is available with a good selection of food to fill up before sightseeing or visiting the Christmas markets.for the day.

The location was ideal for our purposes and we're likely to return again next year.

Although the room is small, it is compact and i have everything that i need. Cleanless is perfect. Location is perfect. You can go to romer by walk about 10-15 mins. 20mins to Financial District by walk but when you need s-bahn you gotto walk 6-7 mins to localbahnhof station. By the way, when you complete your checkin, mini haribo packets will welcome you on your bed :)
I will definitely stay at Maingau when my next trip to Frankfurt !! Strongly recommend you, as well!

Noise disturbance due to poor room design

I booked a comfort double, which appears to be a large room in the accompanying photo. But it was a regular size (small) double room. I often stay at the Maingau because the price is good. On my latest stay, we had a room with a connecting door (closed) to the adjoining room. We could hear every word being said by the guests in the other room. I haven't experienced that in the past at the Maingau, but it was my first time in a room with a door in the wall. This level of noise intrusion is unacceptable - no matter what else was good about the stay.

Most unfriendly receptionist who was South American. He was awful. I came from hospital and had a carry on bag. I needed help to get my small bag to my room not only because of my condition but mainly be ause you have to be subjected to two flights of stairs to get to the elevator then another flight after you reach your floor because the elevator stops at half floors. When I asked why nobody was able to help me with my bags, he became angry, stuck his nose up in the air and changed the subject. The room is the size of your closet. Sink inside the room, toilet and tiny shower on its own. All TV channels in German. Poor wifi. Poor wifi... Poor wifi.

The staff needs to be educated regarding purchasing from Hotel.com
We prepaid for 2 nights and when we tried to check out Saturday morning, the man at the front desk told me we'd owed 186 00
I had to try and explain that Hotel .com gets their money from Expedia. com.
I told him I was going to call the police if he didn't check us out . We even showed him our prepaid receipt
Was not a nice way to start our day at 5:30 am.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay here. The beds were super comfy and the location was perfect. We loved it. The only thing missing was air conditioning. It wasn't an issue for us because the temperature wasn't too hot but if it was it could have been unpleasant. We had the windows wide open and the fresh air was enough to cool the room. We would definitely stay here again.

I think Maingau is in a perfect location. Easy walk to south train station and tram line, and bus 61 that goes to airport. Easy walk across river to Romer and Dom, etc.
Mostly residential area, with many restauants and pubs within a block or two. This hotel is quiet at night.
Staff was efficient, but for the most part \"all business,\" Most staff spoke English fairly well.
One thing that happened is, that I didnt bring the credit card which I had originally booked with, so charges were credited and recharged to a different card. I ended up with a stack of receipts that dont quite make sense to me. If there is an error on my cc statement, will update this post.
All that said, i would probably stay at a less expensive hotel in the area. The price can vary greatly, depending on if theres a trade fair in town and I guess on various other factors having to do with expedia or other booking sites.
Room was very clean, wifi dependable and fast.

Perfectly clean, very nice staff, good choices for breakfast buffet. If you do not pay for breakfast, there is no coffee or tea unless you ASK for a kettle for your room. The room was hot like a sauna, it's so bad you can't sleep - and I wasn't offered a fan until I checked out! Impossibly slow internet in the room (slightly better in the lobby).

Hotels.com are simply not trustable with their pictures and descroption of hotels. This is the second time I experience this and do all I can, not to use Hotels.com anymore.
The hotel as such was soooo old and beds small. The air in the room was soo bad, that the window had to be opened just to get some real air. The heat was not on when I arrived so it took nearly 3 hours to get it warm. The day after when I returned to the room after a full days of work, I arrived 8pm, the window was open again and heat was closed.
There was no airflow in the bathroom so all wet air went into the room.

A very cheap hotel but probably closer to a youth hostel standard than a business hotel. No tea coffee facilities in the very small room. No air conditioning and the room was incredibly hot and no airflow even with an open window.

Nice hotel in the Applewine area, but tiny rooms

Stayed for two nights before heading home. Not the first time, so I know the hotel pretty well. This time I had the Standard Single Room and was a little surprised of the room size. That was one of the tiniest rooms I have ever stayed in. Not to mention the bath room size, really small. However, as it was only for sleeping, it was okay for me. The price, on the other hand, was extremely overpriced for the size of room you get.

Great location as it is walking distance to the train station, trams, Rewe supermarket, pharmacy, Romer, and lots of restaurants. Quiet neighbourhood. Room is too small especially the shower. It would be good to have coffee/tea making facilities in the room. If not possible,then perhaps in the lobby. Staff were generally helpful. Check in and check out were quick. Good housekeeping but could use more shower gel. It wasn't topped up daily so we were out of it on the last day. Generally good stay.

Maingau - no frills but adequate

The Maingau is perfectly situated in a great suburb of Frankfurt. This is definitely a no frills hotel and the room was incredibly small but it was clean and functional. It was fine for short stay but I wouldn't want to stay for longer. The staff are incredibly friendly and a credit to the hotel.

The Maingau Hotel is in a great location. You can walk across the footbridge to the main square in less than 10 minutes. The front desk personnel were always friendly and helpful. This is not a 5 star hotel with air conditioning, but it is charming and clean. The breakfast had lots of selection. There is an elevator and the room was a decent size. Some of the nearby bar employees only speak German so we went over to the main spare to eat, etc. Also, we liked the proximity to the train and tour bus tours. It only took us 10 minutes by taxi to get to the tour bus for the Rhine River cruise. We found the Taxis are cheap and honest in this city. Would stay here again!

Avoid if you have a car and need parking

We arrived late at night and was greeted by a pleasant lady at the check in desk. We searched for a car parking spot for 30 mins with no luck. There is a public garage that charged us 6 euros and was half a mile away, which was no fun with suitcases. The road in front of the hotel was small and busy and we did not have time to unload on a public road.
To add insult to injury the internet was an extra 12.5 euros to use. The gentleman at the desk who charged us for the internet failed to mention that there was a cheaper option of 5 euros for 30 mins even when asked.
On the plus side, Breakfast was great and so was the check out staff.
Overall disappointed with the stay.

Very basic hotel. Fine for one night.

Very basic hotel, but then again, the price reflected that. Staff were helpful and accommodating, breakfast was good, did the job of providing a filling meal.The room itself was the major letdown. Single bed - and a small single bed at that - when I was anticipating a double. Sink in the bedroom reflecting the meagre dimensions of the bathroom - a single shower tub facing a toilet and no room for any swinging cats. Room smelt of smoke, too. Location-wise, it's a 5-10 minute walk to the entertainment of Sachsenhausen (shops, cafes, bars, etc) - a suburb just to the south of central Frankfurt - and not far from Frankfurt Sud station, which will whisk you into the centre in minutes and further afield, if you so desired.

Good / Sweet / Centrally Located

Close to shopping and close to Old Town of Frankfrut. Only down fall of the older part of the Hotel was stairs from office to first floor to get to the upper floors. Not easy with a lot of baggage. Over all very clean and quite.

Location was good for bars and restaurants nearby. Sudbahnhof station about 8min walk for best connections to Messe for exhibition. Tram 16 is direct and can go from a stop 1 nearer than Sudbahnhof but not frequent at weekend. Breakfast was quite good.
