I specifically picked this hotel and the higher priced room, because it indicated it had a balcony. But ours didn't. When I indicated this, the staff indicated they have received this complaint lots. They also said they have the right to assign rooms. Not all of the higher priced rooms have a balcony. Even though they are pictured this way. To me, they are saying the have the right to false advertise. Not a good business plan. There is nothing in the room to put your luggage on to open it. So you have to use the floor to get things out of your suitcase. Also offered a free drink. That turned out to be about an ounce of port wine. Nothing special. Don't waste your money like I did. Our friends place, a block down, which I decided against, was better and cheaper option.

This hotel was a find! From the outside it is unassuming but walk through the doors to an elegant, beautiful lobby with a very professional and helpful reception staff. Within minutes of entering, we were checked in, with dinner booked at the recommended neighbourhood restaurant, Traverna Baixa, known for its traditional Portuguese fare and directions to meet our tour guide.
The room was perfect. Thought was given to every detail of this sanctuary. The bathroom was spacious and beautifully renovated. The room was on the small side by north American standards, but the use of the available space was perfect making for a very comfortable stay.
By the way, dinner was excellent and we appreciated the recommendation. We paid to include breakfast, and it was worth every penny. What a great start to the day. I would return to Hotel Liz anytime I am lucky enough to be in Lisbon.

Very happy with the hotel’s hospitality. The check-in was seemless, the room with the balcony was spotless and had a huge bottle of Evian in the room. The consierge service was excellent and recommended a great spot to eat. The hotel’s communication was awesome. Upon departure to the airport, they called a taxi. Very happy with their service. The breakfast service every morning was basic but we’re happy we got it to fuel our mornings! The room was a little small, it was basically all bed no flex space lol and the bed had two divots (one in each side) so it was uncomfortable on our backs when we would move around while we slept.

There were minor things about this property that were not agreeable: balcony had 1 old wooden chair that was cracked and did not feel safe sitting on, and one room chair. I would have been great to have a small table and 2 good condition chairs for the balcony to enjoy sitting outside as the room itself is very small. There is litterally no space in the room, no space for a small desk to work on or even have coffee on, just a narrow bar under the TV. We had to plug the kettle either on the floor or in the washroom because the cable was too short. Also cleaning service never replenished the coffee. Also, you should not have to ask for VIP benefits (2 beverages); they should just give you a voucher to use anytime. You end up forgetting you have them... I'm sure they're ok with this.
Other than that, the service, room, and location were great. Walk-out and you have a cafe bakery (Copenhagen Cafe), restaurants, and sight-seeing at your feet.

The hotel is very clean and centrally located, you can pretty much walk to all the attractions in downtown area. . Hotel Staff members are very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is decent and fresh. But, our room is very small - we had to put our luggage under the bed to be able to move around. Not enough space to sit except on the bed.

I had issues with the staff when I got in. They had a strict pause the attitude about early check-in and they were rude about it. Only thing that wasnt great was when we had dinner in the Lis restaurant we felt invisable, the food was great but it took forever to get menus, drinks, food or bill. We were unable to enter the area or park nearby to access and could not check in and had to stay somewhere else - the entire area was shut down and we could not access the property when we arrived in Lisbon around 7:00 pm.
Advice of the pending festivities and the shut down in advance would have been helpful.
I have also reached out to the hotel looking for feedback and await their remarks.

Staff was very helpful upon arrival and we were able to store our luggage before check in. The rooms and facility were very nice and clean. The rooms are quite small especially if you have a lot of luggage, but we didn’t mind much because everything else was perfect. Rooms are sound proof, which is great for light sleepers like me. Staff helped us book tours to Sintra and a Fado dinner experience. HIGHLY recommend doing both as those were my favorite parts of our trip to Portugal, and very reasonably priced. The restaurant downstairs is PHENOMENAL. Breakfast everyday was fantastic and we even went there for dinner twice as it was so delicious. The hotel is in a very convenient location close to the city center. It’s very walkable in my opinion. I 100% recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again when I come back to Lisbon. It truly was a memorable stay and a great way to start off my trip to Portugal.

We only stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the location in Lisbon. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The continental breakfast was good. Our room was lovely and spacious facing the road (front side of the hotel). We had booked an upgraded room size. The only negative on the room was the loud noise that occurred whenever a car ran over one loose manhole cover. I would therefore recommend a room at the back of the hotel. Regardless I would stay here again.

Great place to stay in Lisbon

A bit difficult to access with car, but that is because the city of Lisbon is difficult to negotiate. /the receptionist was beyond kind, warm and efficient, and she was there throughout our stay and was always welcoming and friendly when we returned. The parking was easy (2 blocks away) and although pricey, it’s a city, and we received a discount through the hotel (35 euros vs. 48 euros). Location excellent.

Great base in the middle of everything!

OK, so the rooms are small. Really small. You can tell that from the photos. But they are full of character, with French windows onto Juliet balcony, nicely updated, spotless, bed is super comfortable, and everthing works - plumbing, heat, wifi. Staff is super helpful, breakfst is great with lots of variety. Location can't be beat, and if you want to be in a historic building in the middle of everything, small rooms is the price you pay.

We did not enjoy our stay. The reviews said the rooms were small, but they were so tiny you couldn't even walk around the bed. My husband and I couldn't even get around each other. The room also smelled like mold and the only way to help that was to open the balcony door. Also the air conditioning did not work and when I called they said they couldn't do anything because they didn't control the ac and neither could we. Once again we had to sleep with the balcony door open so as to not be hot. This was not good because it was an extremely loud street with two restaurants/bar right across the street and mostly there's a loud metal grate on the street right near the corner and every car that passed over it made a really loud noise. The bathroom was clean and so were the sheets. I wish I hadn't booked this hotel and I wouldn't recommend it.

The staff could not have been any more friendly or helpful. The room was small but functional. It was arranged very well in order to maximize the space. We loved being able to open the balcony door for fresh air and to hear the city sounds but once we closed it there was silence. The location was great and walkable to many shops, restaurants and sights. We contacted the hotel ahead of time to inquire about tours. They arranged two fabulous private tours for the four of us to Sintra/Caiscais and Tomar. Our guides were excellent and the tours were wonderful.

Great location

Great location, very close to Rossio station. The rooms are small, but work. There is an automatic air freshner in the bathroom that we could not turn off. We are sensitive to smells and this was very annoying. The wall for the shower was not sealed and water ran out from underneath, flooding the bathroom.

Front desk staff were so friendly and accommodating. They arranged airport shuttle both ways. Staff communicated with me via email a number of times before our vacation. Very reassuring that they were so receptive.
Had breakfast in restaurant every morning and dinner for our last nite. We had the welcome drinks and discount on bill.
Our room was small but I knew that when I booked. Very clean and comfortable.
We will have good memories, thank you.

Location was optimal

We loved the location, the Main Street was with in a minute walk . Coffee shops , restaurants down the block . The room was small however clean , our only discomfort was that the room had an unpleasant smell . We had to keep the window open at all times even as we slept. Not sure how to pint point the order, but if the window was closed we were not able to handle the smell . We had room 308 our other friends had a different room on same floor and the had no issue. We did not report the problem, we made the best of the situation. As long as the window was opened we could support the nasty smell .

Great hotel, exceptional staff, too small rooms

The Hotel Lis-Baixa was wonderful. The reception staff was personal and welcoming. We checked in and immediately ate in their restaurant with an exceptional meal and complimentary glass of port/wine. The location was ideal. The beds and baths were great. Our only disappointment was the size of the rooms. Almost too small for 2 people to comfortably move around and the only place to hang clothes was a small hook on the wall.

The location can’t be beat! Lovely lobby and we had a small room on the first floor. We knew it was small so it worked well for us. There were balcony doors and a small step out. The only issue was the noise being on the first floor, but with the doors closed it was barely perceptible.

The shower leaked water on the floor but we were able to turn the shower head to minimize it at least. The bed was a hard bed, overall comfortable but wasn’t a ‘sleep in’ type of bed.

Really liked this hotel, the metro is close by and walkable to great shopping and restaurants.

Would definitely come back, would request a higher floor if I did though.
