I booked and paid my reservation on Expedia. When I arrived they said they did not have my reservation in their system. I showed them the reservation and receipt but they had no room for me. I had to leave to another hotel and called Expedia who issued my refund.

The property is just what we needed for our stay, a clean, quiet, and safe place. While we had no shower/ water temperature issues as other reviewers had, we did have a toilet that was malfunctioning. The response from the staff was prompt and kind. Additionally, we had an unfortunate and unexpected health situation the night of arrival. The front desk was quick to call for help without any hesitation. A day after returning from the hospital, the staff did a wefare check. Once recovered, Diana from the reception desk helped us schedule tours. We were able to save on the cost when compared to Viator and Get-Your-Guide. All in all, our stay was great. Be mindful when reading other reviews. This is not the Ritz Carlton. You are not paying for a high-end resort. The bathroom is small and you don't get all the amenities of such a hotel. If you plan on enjoying the city and surrounding areas all day, this place is perfect for the price point. Additionally, you can walk to coffee shops, restaurants, street vendors, and the metro station. We had an excellent stay at Hotel del Principado.

Hotel Principado is a small, simple hotel near the Zona Rosa in Mexico City; For the past fifteen years I have visited there at least twice a year and absolutely love it. I've known four of the staff members for all those years and they treat me like family when I come to visit. It's a lovely, shady old fashioned neighborhood lined with trees and walking distance to anything you might want or need. In fact, it's walking distance to some of the finest restaurants - like the Casa de Mariachis where there is an 8PM Cultural Floor Show that can't be beat - after enjoying a delicious meal of Mexican BBQ and side dishes. Chapultepec Palace is within walking distance and in all these years I've never seen everything in that palace or its surrounding park. The hotel is simple, no a/c because you don't need it and a lovely dining room and restaurant. There is a business area where you can use a computer or sit and read. The street food surrounding the hotel is more than delicious and two blocks away is Bellinghausen a restaurant founded by a German Chef in 1915 and it's the kind of elegant that has gone right out of fashion - fabulous meals and the finest service in Mexico. Hotel del Principado has become my home away from home. Yes, it could use a coat of paint, but, I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Good stay overall clean comfortable rooms. Good breakfast. Two negatives. The wifi signal was very weak and at times unusable. For a hotel in this class and price solid good wifi should be a given. Also the pillows were very uncomfortable. Fortunately I brought my own but if I had'nt, I wouldn't have rested well.

Hospitality 101: needs direction & refinement

Location good. Room comfortable, however not impressed with lack of bathroom towelling, two very old, patched & ragged towels, no bath mat so coming out of shower was on wet, slippery floor. Also, all dirty hotel laundry was left in piles in the hallways well into the night.
Breakfast was good, waiters were friendly, efficient and well dressed in their black & whites w ties. However the desk employees were dressed in jeans, t-shirts, runners and puffy jackets, resembling more of a street gang not what you’d like to see in hotel reception. Communication w them was also difficult & they were not helpful in showing our receipts for our stay & one day refund.

Repeat guest but a little disappointed this time

Repeat guest here. I was a little disappointed this time around because when we got to the room there weren't any towels in our bathroom. We immediately went outside and asked the maid to give us some towels and she reluctantly gave us two and told us that she was not provided with enough towels to do the room service that day. Another complain, the Wi-Fi was extremely slow and many times it dropped the connection. The positives are that the rooms are fully renovated now and the bathroom shower has good water pressure and the breakfast buffet included in the package is pretty good.

I always try to stay here: great location, friendly staff and large, clean comfortable rooms. Wifi is good and the restaurant has a good buffet breakfast. Noise bothers me at night so I always ask for a quiet room towards the back. That said, this street might be OK if you were in the front. It doesn't seem that busy.

The location is great. Although the room was comfy and clean, on my first night the running water started coming out black/dirty and I did not have warm water. The rest of the days the water was fine. I also did not get my included breakfast validated one of the mornings. Apart from these critiques, I would recommend it.

Hicimos la reservación de 2 habitaciones, una con cama king y otra con 2 camas (lo que significó un costo adicional), pero al llegar nos querían dar 2 habitaciones con una sola cama y tuvimos que negociar para que la entregaran, el ascensor no servían y nos asignaron una habitación en el 4to piso, sin ayudarnos con las maletas.
Hubo un día que nos hicieron limpieza en los cuartos y otro donde al llegar la llave no abría y no había nadie en la recepción para apoyarnos.
A varios empleados les falta el sentido de atención al cliente y son displicentes con los huéspedes

Excellent as always. I've stayed here many times, the staff friendly and helpful. This stay I arrived at 9am after a night bus and could check in immediately because the room was free. Some hotels would make you wait. Great location for the Zone Rosa and Metro Insurgentes, fruit and juice stalls one end of the block and a great coffee/ choc place (La Rifa) at the other. For the price, worth it.

There were two things i did not like: 1) The first day we found dirty cleaning cloths on a table wich were kind of disgusting, and 2) Really bad wifi connection!!! They should invest more money on it, since we spent hours without being able to connect, or the connection was unstable

The room was quite dirty - it was obvious that the floor and the surfaces had not been cleaned for all the time I stayed there, ended up being dusty.
From my room you could hear basically everything that was going on in adjacent rooms, as if it were in mine.
I did not like the cheeky face of the waiter asking for a tip every morning at breakfast and, when I didn’t give it to him, the change of quality of the service towards myself.
On the contrary, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is quite central, so that is a pro.

Hotel room booked was for 2 double beds, breakfast included. Room received was 2 single beds. When hotel staff was notified, we were informed because we are 2 people that is what we get, but they would give us free breakfast (already included?). As a result, one of us had our feet hanging off the end of the bed (hence the need for the double beds). Bathroom sink was cracked (dangerous), drain in bathroom floor was broken and jagged (also dangerous), room walls were falling off due to water damage and room door did not close properly (had to slam it shut due to misfit...gap between door and frame). We booked for four nights and only stayed for one night.

Great hotel on a budget. The staff was very attentive and took care of all of my needs, including changing my pillow to a flatter one, changing my fan, and even going to pick up my laundry when the cleaner’s hours didn’t mesh with my work schedule. I got complimentary breakfast added to my long (one month) stay so I can’t complain there but the only real suggestion would be to include different cereals/ fruits since it was the same granola and same 3 fruits each day. Otherwise I had a really pleasant stay.

I have stayed here many times and have always been happy . Great staff very friendly nice property great location safe area . We had a minor earthquake and it affected the water . My only complaint on this trip is that there is no communication about the water . I want one whole day without any water coming out of the hot water faucet in the shower . Another day there was only Coldwater . I understood why but there was no communication, other than that always a good experience at this hotel . Also this hotel is very affordable , no fancy perks but I am always happy .

I cannot say enough about the friendliness of the staff. People here were kind, warm, and always friendly. The rooms are quite simple - the towels are super thin, water isn't so warm in the shower, and the blankets were thin (they did give us extra blankets - and yet, I'd stay here again. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, the food was diverse and delicious. Overall, the location is really the best part of this place. It's close to so many restaurants, food stands, art fairs, and nightlife.

It is an ok hotel for the price.
No heating at all in rooms or lobby, We felt chilly, specially when dressing/undressing.
Some things such as hallway carpets need renovation. The curtains were tatty and old . Colors have faded and there were some torn parts.
Breakfast was good and reasonable in price. Service was the best feature, all staff were curteuos, quick and friendly.
Not sure if I would go back.

I've stayed here many times. A great location in a quieter part of the Zona Rosa and close to Insurgentes metro. Super friendly staff on reception. Breakfast is good value (you can pay locally which might be cheaper than the incuded price). Don't expect luxury but it's comfortable and a great choice.

Would not return.

Beds were not changed before my arrival, even though I was accommodated with an early check in. Asked for an extra blanket, was told they did not have any after agreeing to deliver to my room. Waiters in restaurant and concierge were hawking for tips. Price was economical but does not make up for poor service.

Considering the prime location, this is a great deal... but you definitely get what you pay for.
The staff is very warm and friendly! Had we not arrived late and starving, we would have explored the places they suggested for dinner.
The bed is on the soft, lumpy side - not good for those of us with back issues.
People with allergies, be forewarned; the room had a smell of air freshener, which sadly never went away. Possibly the curtains were doused with Lysol?

On a good note- fantastic water pressure and hot water!

While the included buffet breakfast is good, dinner was abismal. Do yourself a favor and take the suggestion of the receptionist. Walk a block away to Sanborn’s! At the hotel restaurant for dinner, the enchiladas de mole had a tablespoon of chicken in total, and the tortillas had the consistency of having been over-microwaved. The mole itself was awesome. The other dish was supposed to have been chicken fajitas, but turned out to be onion fajitas with a few pieces of shredded over-cooked chicken thrown in. We had to ask for tortillas to accompany the fajitas. Strange, as we are Mexican, so this should have been a given!

Overall, you get what you pay for.

Very conveniently located at the Zona Rosa, this has been a perennial favorite in terms of value for the money. Great service, parking availability also being a big plus, decent Sunday breakfast buffet. Only issue is WiFi connectivity/speed from the rooms.

Hola. The location was great close to everything. Staff was great. The hotel is a little out dated and the wifi wasn't the best at times. Food was great and the hotel has a restaurant in it. For the price and location staying in a hotel set in the 90s was worth it. Would stay again. Felt like a golden girl. Hotel has airport service as well.

Definitely not a 3 star hotel

This hotel is overpriced and to me doesn't fit in the 3 star category. No A/C or fan in the rooms which made us open the windows and then had a bad sleep due to the amount of mosquitoes. Rooms also lack of good light and are very noisy. Bathroom old and not in good shape.

The hotel is in a convenient location in Zona Rosa, close to restaurants and shops.
The hotel linens are old but clean. Staff was very friendly and eager to assist in any way. My only drawback is that I asked for No room service and someone entered my room and left us 2 water bottles and took our cell phone charger and portable cell charger (yes you are reading it correctly) I contacted the front desk and the rep said he would contact the operations manager and will get back to me. He offered to loan me a cell phone charger. The operations manager never got back to me. So if you stay in this hotel make sure you use the room safe or just take your valuables with you.

Be aware - This people is not responsible

Be aware when you are booking with this Hotel. At first, when I arrived for the check in they told me they were cleaning my room, after 45 min. waiting in the lobby the receptionist told me they did not have a room for me (my stay was for the month of april 2017..and I paid on January 27, 2017, they charged my credit card but they did not provide a room for me) the only solution they gave me was sending me to another Hostal or Hotel near them, which is less expensive and low qualitity. So, make great decitions with this crazy hotel.

Great staff and a great location for the price

The entire staff was extremely friendly. The rooms were clean, however, there is no AC but it does not get to hot.
The front desk was always willing to help with tours at prices below what you can find online. And it's near everything! Will definitely make this my hotel of choice.
