If you're looking for a party all day and night, this is the place. There's never a dull moment; there's always something to do. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, there are also areas for that. The buffet food is excellent; there's no need to bother with the specialty restaurants, although they are also very good. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for seniors, as it could be overwhelming for them given the number of young people who frequent it.

Anything party related was a good time. Food was good for the most part. Rooms were not in the greatest conditions. Water smelt bad. Water pressure wasn’t the greatest. Rooms stayed at 77 degrees. (Bring a fan) Everyone in the group left sick. Overall we had fun though.

There were rooms without air conditioning and the last day of our trip the water was shut off for 10 hours. It made the bathrooms disgusting and you couldn’t shower or wash off sand. I will also have to say the food was just okay but the staff at the buffet and the swim up bar were amazing!! It made our dining and pool experience better!

The check-in process is absolutely terrible. Took over an hour. The room was clean with the exception of the open bottles of water in the fridge. The air-conditioning worked well. The property could be cleaner, as there were not many staff walking around cleaning like at other rius we have stayed at in other countries. The food is just OK, there’s something for everyone. The bartenders seem to lack personality, and make you feel like more of an annoyance than anything. The drinks also seemed to vary inconsistency from Bar to bar. My biggest complaint, which is not the resort‘s fault, is the disrespect from the visitors. They disrespect the property, the employees, and other visitors.

Room was old. No upgrades or nothing..Ice machines were not working anywhere. Room didn't have electricity when we got it. Pools were dirty. The best restaurant was not open for public you needed reservation and reservations were taken at 5pm. Some of the workers didn't want to work there and didn't help. 2 workers were just flirting woth guest rather than helping the guest on tables. I will never stay there again

Had mixed expectations because of some reviews but enjoyed the resort and would definitely go back. Party vibes for sure so don't expect quiet esepecially if you're in the rooms closest to the beach. But there were quieter areas of the resort.

Pros:

1. Great view from balcony of ocean view rooms. Beds were comfortable and room was cleaned everday to my satisfaction.

2. Plenty of space in the pool, swim up bars were convenient, and beach was beautiful.

3. Staff was nice and worked hard to accommodate us. We only went to the buffet and the selection was good. The local dishes were best.

4. Lots of guests having fun at all times of day. PACHA club and beach party on Sunday were fun.

5. Resort grounds were well maintained.

Cons:

1. Room's sink pipes leaked on the bathroom floor but maintenance was quick to respond. A/C temp was not controllable and could have been slightly cooler during the day.

2. Sports bar's TVs are too small.

3. After dinner food options are limited.

4. Swim up bars close at 6. Expected at least one to stay open late.

5. Gym was way too hot. No fan and couldn't feel any A/C.

If you’re reading the hotel reviews, please take them seriously! This resort has been by far one of the worst places I have ever vacationed. The rooms are not cleanest and air conditioning does not work. During my stay, we encountered cockroaches and beetles in our room. The food buffet also needs attention especially because these are things that are being consumed. I found a cockroach in the bread basket! The staff lacked hospitality and were very rude.
This resort isn’t even worth the 1 star. STAY AWAY

I am submitting this complaint regarding my recent stay at Riu Punta Cana, which was one of the most disappointing and unacceptable hotel experiences I have ever had.

From the moment we arrived, it was evident that the property was not being maintained to an acceptable standard. Our room was dirty and poorly cleaned, leaving us questioning the overall sanitation of the resort. To make matters worse, the air conditioning in our room was not functioning properly. Despite the extreme heat and humidity, the room remained uncomfortable throughout our stay, significantly impacting our ability to rest and enjoy our vacation.

The most alarming issue, however, was the condition of the food service areas. On multiple occasions, I witnessed roaches on and around the food being served to guests. This is not simply an inconvenience—it is a serious health and safety concern. Guests should never have to worry about insects contaminating food at a resort that advertises itself as a quality vacation destination.

I have video evidence documenting the dirty room conditions, the issues with the air conditioning, and the presence of roaches in the dining areas. These are not isolated complaints or exaggerated claims; they are documented incidents that I am prepared to provide upon request.
I booked this property through Expedia with the expectation that the accommodations would meet reasonable standards of cleanliness, comfort, and safety. These conditions fell far below advertised.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life.
I have stayed in other Riu Hotel's and everything was outstanding. What a disappointment this hotel, staff, food, and especially room was. I even ended up with bed bug welts on both my legs and arms. I have pictures to prove it. These rooms and the building were disgusting. I felt so embarrassed to bring my wife to such a rundown dump.
This staff was the most unfriendly arrogant staff I have ever encountered. I couldn’t understand why they treat guests like this like we were and inconvenience to them. I had cash on me to tip great service and help the local community but ended up basically bringing all my cash back because I couldn’t find decent service at this hotel.

The room was so run down and disgusting. The cleaning staff would be screaming early in the morning waking me and my wife up. They just didn’t care. What a lack of respect. We sometimes had hot water and other times didn’t. The AC didn’t really work. When I called to ask for extra pillow and a room change the lady that answered the phone literally hung up on me twice.

The only thing that was good was the nightlife entertainment.
I really hope that you guys make the proper changes to make experiences better for future guest, or just shut the place down.

Overall, RIU Republica is more of a fun, party-style all-inclusive resort than a true luxury 5-star experience. If you’re going for vibes, pools, music, and social energy — it delivers. If you’re expecting luxury service and flawless rooms, it may fall short.

The resort is huge, with multiple pools, nonstop entertainment, and a very lively atmosphere. There’s always something going on — parties, music, beach activities, and night shows — so it never feels boring. The beach is beautiful, wide, and perfect for long walks, and the ocean views are honestly stunning.

Food is hit or miss. Some people enjoy the variety and themed restaurants, but others find the buffet repetitive or average. Drinks are decent for an all-inclusive, but not top-shelf quality.

Rooms are comfortable enough, but not perfect — some guests mention maintenance issues or humidity depending on the building. Service can vary: some staff are amazing, others feel a bit inconsistent during busy times.

The vibe is what really defines this place: young, social, loud, and party-focused. If you’re here with friends or want a high-energy trip, it’s a good time. If you want calm luxury, this probably isn’t the RIU for you.

The property was great. Staff was very helpful. Staff was friendly. I feel like the location was great. It was right off the beach. We did have a Resort credit of $1700 in order for you to use that you only get a discount on the items that cost money you cannot use your full credit for instance, the massages may cost $180. The most you can get off is $20 and you have to pay the rest.

The Resort does have many options of food choices. The food was very enjoyable and was well seasoned.

However I would say make sure you bring face towels because those were not provided. The room was very unique. We had three double beds in our room. It did have a leak under the sink, when you shower the water smells really bad. Also, the mosquitoes in the gnats are bad as well. We had bite marks all over us.

This property needs to be upgraded. Air was not working. They fixed it and the next morning it was burning hot. Room 3167 and 2174. Shower head needed replacing. Water going everywhere. Staff rude but not all. Some were very helpful. Food was mediocre. Drinks was strong if you want to get drunk . They did shuttle to the casino. Small casino. They said you have access to other RIU hotels but when they had the all white. I asked if they shuttled and was told you have to pay taxi. Be careful because they do charge if you loose key card or towel card. I would not recommend this hotel for older crowd. This is for the young adults. I was not impressed with this hotel and I’m not hard to please. Party of 12 and over half complained most of the trip.

I would not stay at this resort again. The room was very dirty, with stains on the bed sheets and an ant infestation. The food was disappointing overall and lacked quality.

This resort seems geared toward college-aged guests who are looking to party nonstop. If you're not young and there to party, I would recommend staying somewhere else. Throughout my stay, it was common to see people intoxicated and even throwing up in the lobby.

The RIU pool parties were extremely overcrowded. Getting a drink at the bar felt nearly impossible because of the long lines and the number of people packed into the area. Even the beach was disappointing, as the sand and surrounding areas did not appear clean.

I will admit that the chicken curry served at the beach was excellent—that was probably the highlight of the trip.

Overall, I would give this resort 1 out of 5 stars. You get what you pay for, and unfortunately this experience did not meet my expectations.

El trato del staff fue muy bueno, pero, el aire acondicionado de la habitación la mayoría del tiempo no enfriaba, mucha calor en la habitación y en la discoteca. No recomiendo el steak house, los cortes de carne no los preparan como se ordenan y para reservar esperé 2 horas en filas diferentes porque no había nadie dando servicio. No es recomendable utilizar los ascensores, no funcionan correctamente. Las piscinas tienen tanto Clorox que el fondo de la piscina no se ve, mi pareja y yo nos dió reacción alérgica.

Beautiful resort, fun activities, great staff. On our first day our room didn’t seem prepared for us, or maybe it was not used in a while. The room had a funky smell, but it was clean. We soon noticed the smell traveled through out the hotel, dining rooms and gift shop (was the worst). I chalked it up that the resort farts, terrible sewage system. It was hard to focus for the first two days. However, day two our room was cleaned and smelled better or maybe I just got used to the stinch. All of my new clothes I didn’t wear had to be washed went I got home because the scent was buried in my clothes. Apart from the resort farts, Riu Republica is a great spot for adult entertainment and fun.

Staff wasn’t helpful with anything. To explain few scenarios
1. They lied about the room upon checkin. Upon requesting they said they are happy to give us ocean view room but when we went to the room it was in a corner far away location and it was standard view nothing as per the receptionist.
2. They didn’t help with anything around in the property. Just said check with expedia since you didnt book with us directly which is so unfair if the money goes to hotel and not to expedia.
3. Our cab that was booked with Expedia was stopped at checkpost and not allowed to enter. They said we will not help and we had to walk to checkpost with our luggage in a hot day. Very unfair and unwelcoming.
4. Food was below par and just for future vegetarian guests. Dont waste your money at this resort or else you will end up eating rice and salad most of days.

The staff is all about money they do t speak English they are not helpful to the guest or attentive to your needs the bathroom are not clean there is hole in wall elevator ceiling the ac went out in our room and no water for half of the day and the manager gave to resolve except stay cool at the pool or restaurant till fix like how dare you when I've been waiting since 9am that morning and issue wasn't fixes till 4am the next morning food was under cooked not well seasoned very cold and no options same food menu for the whole 7 days I was there pool area had cigarettes in them and condoms under lounge chairs liquor was cheap liquor and only one beer option no entertainment what so ever at pool or and night they rather make you pay for their shuttle bus to send you to party at another resort is crazy I have been to riu in Mexico and now DR and I will never go back they can't get my business ever again they have no real hospitality for their guest

Internet connection is terrible, keeps dropping off. Sauna in the spa was out of service the whole week and didn’t seem to be repaired/reopened anytime soon. The pool is full of swimming empty glasses from the night party daily! Room Telephone was out of service my whole stay. Safe box stopped working on my second day, I mentioned the problem and the telephone issue to front desk, the safe got back to life within the half hour, telephone issue was never addressed. Also very, very, very noisy in evening and practically whole night, making it very difficult to get quality sleep. You can literally hear each person passing by the room. And there are no carpeting in the hallways.
Needless to say I will never come back and won’t recommend to anyone. Sorry.

No cold water only scorching hot water that was not addressed for the entire time we were there for. Also flushing the toilet with the hot water from the shower using the bathroom trash can was not a pleasant experience while on vacation for us. Outlet next to bed did not work so we also had battery issues while on vacation because we could not charge our devices properly.

The room itself was not as clean as it could be, I took note that on the surface level it was mostly clean but you can tell it hadn’t had a deep clean in a very long time. The staff was nice at our resort but the Riu Party staff was not. The staff that is in charge of organizing the transportation to and from the party were very rude by telling you to hurry up and dismissing you when you don’t speak Spanish. My partner and I look Spanish but we aren’t and don’t speak it so we received some poor treatment due to this, for example they had Spanish speakers go infront of us in line to board the party bus and we needed to wait a long time for the next one and they didn’t communicate anything with us like that we would need to wait for the next one. We also had less people than them so it wasn’t about that. Lastly the bartenders at the Riu parties specifically in the pool were the rudest by far. One of them used his hand to shush someone and when I told them it was my bday to be nice they said they don’t care in a rude tone and didn’t serve me until I made it a bigger deal. They were serving men that came way after me and at one point people had to start serving themselves cause they would only serve those who tipped them but we were in the pool so we couldn’t get tips out at that time. We tipped every other time just bit while in the pool at Riu parties. I also saw a cockroach in the buffet area and the food was not good but I’m a vegetarian so there weren’t many options anyway.

Worse Riu I have ever stayed at, staff has attitudes! They don’t want to help. Me & my friend witnessed staff giving tap water to drink when they know we aren’t supposed to drink it. We caught them giggling about it! Oh horrible food. They give you slop on a plate! I’m definitely not one to complain but absolutely not. & room didn’t have air conditioning, a lot of things were broke. But if you’re looking to party & drink! Heck yea. Just prepare to survive off fruit!

The hotel was clean and well-kept overall, with a friendly and helpful staff. I felt incredibly safe thanks to visible security throughout the resort. I loved that the property offered different atmospheres—there was an energetic pool area with great music for celebrating, and a quieter pool area for a relaxing, calm escape. My favorite meals were at the Italian restaurant and the steak house. I would recommend this resort because the beach is absolutely beautiful and it’s affordable for someone on a budget like myself.

The power flickered on and off for several days. We didn’t have air one night and some of the places had no water for 24 hours. We sat at the lobby and there was puke on the furniture from the night before. There was trash all over the grounds. There was poop smeared on our bathroom door, The waiters/waitresses were the best. The Micheal Jackson show was good. Otherwise the entertainment there was lacking.

If you intend to have a party vacation and your not fussy about room quality then this will work for you. Most of the staff are friendly. The steakhouse was good but to get a reservation is like the hunger games....

Tip: if you not so good with your Spanish just print and stick your drink of choice in Spanish on your cup😄.... until everyone knows your drink

Sometimes Staff in bars and restaurants were not friendly. Pools are great. Food was OK. Drinks at the bars could be better. Phone in room never worked despite I reported to reception. I asked for extra blankets and they were not provided until next day. There was a problem with showers; only hot water came out, so that day we couldn't take a shower until it was repaired. Rooms are Ok, however I think the hotel needs more maintenance.

The property was very big and open.. it was nice and clean.. with few minor details of not having water for a full day.. also for the last 3 days the pool with the bar did not have high water level nor was the water filtering as it should have been.. if you want to eat at the Steak Restaurant u would need to make a reservation at 6pm on the dot as they will not take in walk in even though there are empty tables available.. I would suggest be there by 5:30pm as there will be a long line..

Well-- It was the worst hotel experience I have ever had all together in my life. My room had roaches appearing daily, no AC, water shut down on the entire ocean side of the resort for 10 hours- they gave us bottled water. No hand towels just midsize and then there's the roaches. The food was ok and so were the drinks. Daiquiri flavors at most bars needed some work, so I went with Jack and Cokes. When I complained about my issues zero were resolved. I would not have written this and washed my hands of the entire situation, but it was too bad to not let someone else know. Not coming back, maybe not even to DR, because of this past weekend.

The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful. Palm trees and sculpted grass. Unfortunately there was some things that made me give this rating. Washcloths were not delivered until the second day of my stay. I don’t expect good food at any Riu but I can normally eat enough to survive. The food was below average. Uncooked rice, who can’t cook rice! No brand name rum or vodka ( no Bacardi, Tito’s, absolute). Wasted drinking for me. Couldn’t even get a buzz. The icing on the cake was 8 hours without water!!!! While this could have happened anywhere, the previously stated issues made it feel like the last straw. Management did not communicate about the water situation and I almost got trampled on trying to get the water that they were giving out. I would return for a complimentary trip. I certainly wouldn’t pay again. The pools were amazing.

We had no water for 2 days and then the ac stopped working it was very humid to where u couldn’t even sleep then when we called somebody to come check it out they said they were sending somebody and never sent them and we called twice the reception kept hanging up the phone,the elevator smelled terrible the buffet food was awful and the pool looked like they didn’t even throw and chemicals in it over
All if your a very clean and like atleast 4 star hotels then it’s definitely not for you I know I won’t go back there!0stars

So first things first, my original room was not ideal. There was mold by the air vents, AC doesn't work too well and the walls, bedsheets and smell of the room wasn't what I hoped for. Luckily I was able to change my room to a far better one with great views. The staff was really accommodating with that.

Now, Riu Republica is in fact a party resort, there is a lot to do, to keep you active. Plenty of drinks to go around and trust me, those drinks will creep on you before you know it. The staff were okay, but some of them looked really annoyed if you ask them for something.

The restaurants were pretty bland, but I found Kulinarium to be one of the better ones. Their breakfast and the jerk chicken spot were also top teir in terms of quick free food.

We also had a night where there was no water for a couple of hours and everyone had to use bottled water to shower, flush toilets and whatnot.

Overall, despite their flaws, It is still a fun resort to be at. Just know that you sort of get what you paid for since it is a cheaper option.

Filthy hotel, terrible food, poor service, we had no running water 2 days and no AC. We got violently ill from either food or unsanitary conditions. Rooms were gross, stains on towels, mildew/mold smell. Mold in shower. The pools were cloudy, smelled like urine and had a layer of scum on top. Staff were not accommodating or helpful. DO NOT stay at this hotel. Pictures and descriptions are false advertising.

We didn’t receive wash clothes for two days. There was no running water for half day. The food as average. The Rui app barely worked. Connecting to internet was hit or miss. I would never stay there again and I would recommend it to my family or friends.

Room Phone didn’t work. AC was broken the entire time. Resort had no running water for 12 plus hours. Worst resort experience I ever had!!!!
