We had constant problems during the entire 12 day stay! We spent alot of money on this vacation in the Dominican Republic at this RIU, as we did last years trip at the RIU Ohco Rio in Jamaica. This Trip at the RIU Republica (Adults Only) in D.R.

We had people entering our room when we had the Red Sign on the door to stay out, while we were on an Excursion

Had someone putting Beers in our refrigerator, which I had them to come in and remove from from our room. Because, we dont drink beer. Not only was someone coming in our room unauthorized putting unwanted items in our refrigerator but then coming in the next day and drinking them, while we were out of the room. The Manager was supposed to lool back at the Security Cameras and let us know, even after our departure. We felt and believe other things were missing. We constantly had to see a Manger literally everyday about something. The Manager Angelo promised that information as well as adding our points for that stay to my RIU Account for all the problems and inconveniences (WHICH NEVER HAPPENED, NO POINTS, NO RESPONSESBACK TO SEVERAL EMAILS) . My Fiancée is Handicap and things and rooms were difficult maneuvering around. Showers without grab bars. The other Manager Ms. Laura and a Manager Victor. They would take care of a small issue. But, for Mr. Angelo the Manager we had to interact with the most. Im absolutely 💯 % completely disappointed with him for not following through on finding out and returning out emails.

The room wasn’t very clean. The curtains were filthy. There was hair in the bathroom. No remote for the tv although we asked several times. Had to ask for washcloths. The food was terrible. I got food poisoning twice.

Our overall stay had some positives, but there were a few major issues that really affected our experience.

First, I want to mention that some members of the staff around the resort were genuinely kind and helpful. Housekeeping and a few employees in the common areas were friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated.

Unfortunately, our experience at the steakhouse near the buffet was extremely disappointing. The service there was awful from the moment we sat down. Our server clearly did not want to be there and was very rude to our table the entire time. It felt like we were an inconvenience rather than guests. The food was also very poor. The salmon was served completely burned, and overall the meal was one of the worst we had during the trip.

Another serious concern was the lack of security in the disco. There was no one monitoring the crowd or checking for people who were clearly overly intoxicated. On top of that, many people were smoking inside the club, and no staff members were addressing it. The environment felt unmanaged and uncomfortable.

While parts of the resort and some staff members were pleasant, the poor restaurant experience and lack of oversight in the disco made the stay far less enjoyable than it should have been.

We put in a request for lower level room due to sum disabilities. I called hotel to confirm on lower level room. Asked wen we checked in. They gave us 3rd floor further away from the beach. Very disappointing. But we had a blast. Beautiful resort. Staff was awsum. Room was ok. Bt we were ther for the party the pools and the beach. We got what we paid for. Very satisfied!

Rooms were not cleaned very well. Stains on sheets/pillows. No fitted sheets just two top sheets that slide everywhere and you wake up sleeping on gross mattress. Toilet in room barely flushed, fan broke, no fan in bathroom so was just a wet sticky area throughout the room/bathroom. Pools were fun and staff was nice, excursion was cancelled and made us pay way more for a different one that was cheaper online and could not book that way since we were using same tickets as old excursion. Food was okay, but did not know what 3/4 of it was as they did not have names for all of the food. 10/10 staff. 3/10 rooms. Food 6/10.

We are a married couple in our sixties. We've stayed in many all inclusive resorts in Jamaica and Mexico. We had a great stay for 5 nights in February at the Riu Republica.

Our check-in was quick and easy. We pre-checked-in online with the Riu app, which simplified the process. We told the front desk clerk we wanted a quiet room and we were given a nice first floor (not ground floor) room, near the quiet pools and the smaller buffet.

Our room was clean and well maintained. The sink, shower, and toilet all worked very well. The a/c also worked well. We asked for extra pillows on the app, and they were delivered within minutes. We also asked for our room safe to be opened, as it was locked when we checked in. Again, we requested this on the app and got a quick response.

The beach was absolutely beautiful. Plenty of room, plenty of beach chairs, and nearby the party pools and jerk chicken and the bars. Jerk chicken was a highlight; we enjoyed it every day.

We tried many restaurants: Mandu, Kaori, Quiskaya, Ole, Kulinarium. All were clean and the staff were all attentive. The food was exceptional. We went to the Steakhouse near the beach, inside Quiskaya, and had a stellar dinner.

All the staff were friendly and helpful and polite and respectful. The drinks were strong and tasted great.

The breakfast buffet was very good. Lots of variety, many choices of hot and cold offerings. Plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. Good coffee and refreshing mimosas.

We had a great trip.

When we was leaving to checkout and go to breakfast we went to breakfast then came back to the room because we had to use bathroom and i left my swim shoes with other items i was leaving behind. Came back room was open not cleaned but items i left behind was not there. Cleaning staff was mad i came back to the room. Then she went on to say she can’t understand english lol

This is a party resort. Loud and not as advertised. We got food poisoning, food was not good at the regular restaurants, the buffet was better food but the smell in the dining area made it impossible for me to eat in there. Seems they were not able to maintain the water/mold possibly? Our room was basic, had not been remodeled in a very long time but ok. Some nights the windows vibrated till 430 am with the music. I tested the liquor in the mixed drinks- I drank five in 15 mins and felt nothing! And typically I am tipsy at one drink. So don’t count on anything with mixed drinks here! Odors were a problem in a few areas! Unfortunately that is something I am very sensitive to. Day one in the elevator to our room was a couple saying this was the worst resort they had been to and would not be back and I thought it was just them being negative but after our week there- I have to agree. We will not be back. I waited a week to write my review to make sure I was not being too negative but I was really disappointed. The grounds are pretty, the beach area- small and cramped.

The property itself was nice. I was highly disappointed in my room. Our toilet and television did not work for the first three days that we were there. My husband had to keep going to the front desk to make a complaint and to get a technician to come to fix the issue. After the third day, we finally were able to have a toilet that flushed and received a new television. However, our state was almost over.

I had a really fun stay at Riu Republica. What I liked most is that the resort really lets you choose the kind of vacation you want.

If you’re in the mood to party, there are lively pools, the main beach entrance area, and lots of theme nights that keep the energy going well into the evening.

But if you’re looking for peace and quiet, you can absolutely find that too. The pools, bars, and beach entrance on the left side of the resort are much calmer, and the back of the property is also a great place to relax without the party atmosphere.

For dinner, one place that I think is a bit underrated is the Olé restaurant. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a great option for a nice dinner during the stay.

Outside the resort we had some great adventures as well. The excursion to Saona Island was a lot of fun, and we also rented a car and explored Playa Macao and Juanillo Beach. One of the best parts of the trip was honestly just driving around and purposely getting a little lost and discovering new places.

Overall, it was a really fun experience and a great trip. The resort works well whether you want to socialize and party or just relax and enjoy the beach.

At check-in, we were told that we were getting an upgrade at no extra charge, to be on the lower level and closer to beach and restaurants. The lower level and being closer to beach and restaurants was appreciated. Room was nice and comfortable. Only disappointment was view from balcony, was no garden or ocean view. View was of the back of the property. Below balcony was a hedge, lawn was well kept but then a paved path where the property service vehicles brought supplies back and forth along a chain linked fence. On the other side of the fence was a marshy area and then an open field that the back of other apartment like buildings backed onto. It was nice to have a balcony but was not much of a view to look at.

Our t.v. in our room didn't work. There was a horrible smell in multiple locations at the resort, including one the buffets. Food was o.k., nothing great. Drinks were good. All of the staff was very kind and welcoming. I feel the resort needs some fixing and repair. Corners of walls were missing big chips of drywall. Mirror in our bathroom needed replacing. Toilet worked half the time. One thing for sure, if you are looking to party, this is your place. Everynight the music played midnight and guests continued to hoot and hollar until 4am every night. It was extremely loud, enough to wake you up multiple times. Its great for the 20somethings who don't care what it looks and they just want to party.

The place is Hugh. Some of the front are very unhelpful. My husband and I got very sick neeed a wheel chair non available. The phione in the rooms did not work had to walk up front for help. Not a place for older people young parties. Saw a docter cost 200 just to see plus medicine cost 600 at the end. Would never go there again. Call Rui customer service they said I had to send complaint on line not a good experience we travel allot this has been the worst experience ever. Live and learn

Our 1st room with Kingbed we were in for our honeymoon, the AC did not work and the staff said they couldnt move us until the following day which when they did put us in a room with 2 full beds for our honeymoon overlooking a dump. The room was fine and the housekeeping was as well. Food was below average and we ate everywhere. The restaurant staff was excellent. Beach and pools were nice. Grounds were well maintained and cleaned daily. When leaving, our transport driver would not be permitted into the resort for some reason and we had to walk a long distance with our bags to the front gate.

The room was good, as all rooms go it just needed some TLC, nothing major was wrong, just age. The bed was absolutely awesome for comfort and the pillows were too. The dresser drawers need some oil to get them open, very tight to open/close. When we got there, they took our luggage up on a freight elevator and it stunk SO bad, why they did that is beyond me but OH HEAVENS... regular elevators were fine plus we used the stairs a lot. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, the pools were exquisite, I loved the breezes we got as we set on the balcony, that was one of my favorite things to do. The food was beautifully laid out at the buffets, absolutely gorgeous but the majority of the food was never hot enough. I do understand that when you are trying to feed the masses at a high rate and being a buffet but overall good. Entertainment was very loud at nights but on the side, we were on, it seemed to settle down about 11 pm. The water slides were awesome. The staff was amazing, at times a language barrier but there was always someone to help translate. There are cats that roam the grounds and the guests loved playing with them, rubbing them as they would their family pet but I feel Riu should take better care of them, they looked not so healthy, very skinny and who knows how many there are, we saw quite a few different ones. Do they just keep having kittens and then they disappear quietly ????
I would definitely return to Riu Republica, it was a great vacation.

It was a 5/10. It’s outdated. The food was inconsistent. You have to pick 1 or 2 things you like and eat those everyday, but again they will taste different every day. The workers were a little odd. When we asked for more water bottles/towels. The worker told me when I asked for water at the ALL INCLUSIVE resort that no I can’t take I have to ask. Then told me I have enough in my room (?) Huge lack of communication when initially trying to locate our room, took us a long time. it wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good. If you want a cheap place to get drunk at, this is it.

My room was clean, food was great in my opinion especially the restaurants. Drinks were decent just not the best brand of liquor which was expected. The trip was not a very good experience. Starting by saying that Spirits airlines cancelled the flight and i had to travel to a different city 3 hours away to be able to leave 2 days after and i lost vacation time that nobody compensated us for. It was pretty much you either leave in 2 days or we give you the money back for the plain and i would have lost my entire trip that was payed already.The room was a disaster as far as the condition and they did not have any other room available the AC was not working, the coffee maker was broken the phone on the room to call front desk was also not functioning, the room smelled nasty and moldy. The people that came to clean were amazing and super nice the food was great and the staff that took care of us was amazing even front desk was nice but they had no options for us and nobody offered any kind of compensation for all the inconvenience . I would not book again there.

To begin with, as soon as we walked in the room, we got hit in the face with a smell of mildew and mold ask for another room, exactly the same smell mold was visible on the ceiling and all throughout the bathroom laundry and linen were shotty mopped with the same old black water from the day before outside, open leeching fields with a smell of sewer we’ll never go back
