The location of the buffet is lovely, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily and our hotel guide Dionisio was 10/10 with all our request for meals and birthday celebrations and room service. Ask for him on your stay.

El lugar tiene buenas facilidades, piscinas áreas de estar y restaurantes. Pero muchas de estas áreas no tienen aire acondicionado y comer sin aire con calor es muy incomodo. Los baños de la habitación no estaban en buenas condiciones .. piezas rotas, lozas etc. Y mucho olor a polvo y humedad. Podría ser un lugar mucho mas placentero si le dedidacaran mas al mantenimiento de sus habitaciones y aires acodicionados.

Las facilidades están okay, pero hay un detalle Importante los aires acondicionados NO FUNCIONAN. Se notificó al personal y no hicieron nada por que es una situación que lleva tiempo y no la han atendido. Los cuatro días que estuvimos allí nadie nos pudo dar una respuesta hasta los mismos empleados contestaban con vergüenza.
Por otra parte la calidad de la comida es muy baja y el servicio en que te sirvan las bebidas es muy lenta en ocasiones esperando más de 15 min. Los únicos empleados que puedo resaltar es Francisco, Daribel Santana del área del bufet, fueron los únicos empleados atentos.
Fue mi primera vez en este hotel luego de haber visitado a más de 8 hoteles de la zona verdaderamente que no lo recomiendo.

Very conflicted about this resort so I will just write the pros/cons

Pros:

Beautiful beach
Spacious beautiful pools with lots of chairs
Fun bartenders (shoutout Katherine)
Food was ok
Excursions from resort were fun and reasonably priced
The price: we got 5 rooms for 11 people for under $5800.

Cons:

Rooms were old and dirty and so noisy
Air conditioning hardly worked
Showers did not drain
Toilets would overflow
Cockroach and small lizards in room
Check in took over an hour-very frustrating
Restaurants were so slow. It would take 2 hours to get all of our food. Food was ok though

Overall, enjoyed our stay. I just would have a hard time recommending this resort to anyone. We have stayed at Majestic Elegance and the RIU in Punta Cana and would recommend those properties, but they were almost double the price of Occidental Caribe.

Las habitaciones poco limpias , los aires no enfriaban. Di la queja todos los días y no me cambiaron nunca de habitación. Tuvimos que dormir acalorados. Los baños sucios , tapados y con moho. Malos olores por todos lados y la limpieza de la habitación fue pesima. En los buffet poco aseo de cubiertos y platos, comida no muy buena. En fin fue una estancia pésima pq ninguno de los días pudimos descansar bien. Le falta mucho mantenimiento al hotel y sus alrededores.

Everything was A1 after the fact but when we got there some items like, the TV wasn’t working and certain panel on the wall weren’t dusted properly. As well as the personal helper on our stay wasn’t much help since they never answered their phone. We only got someone to help us on our stay after we talked to the front desk who ever very helpful as well. So all in all 9/10 we will be coming back.

One hour wait to check-in for a room. Only one person working the front check-in desk during peak time. Travelled a long distance to stay at your resort, the last thing anyone wants is to wait in line an hour to check-in! First impressions! Room was leaking water through the ceiling over the bathroom area. Reported it several times maintenance apparently came out but it was still leaking the following day. The toilet overflowing and needed to be plunged several times. Called twice and maintenance never showed up. Had to use bathroom in lobby area! Overall food seemed to be the same thing over and over again. I could give you a whole list of things that were a disappointment!

The pool and beach were nice. Rooms were dated and finishes weren’t nice. Didn’t feel very clean coming in. AC wasn’t working in our room, couldn’t go lower than 78 degrees. Even in the indoor restaurants the AC wasn’t running. Food was ok, nothing crazy. The main buffet is primarily Dominican style food. Was difficult to get bartenders attention if you don’t speak Spanish. Small bars and it seemed like they couldn’t make a lot of different drinks. Definitely one of the cheapest hotels in the area. Only really nice thing was the landscaping in the area with the palm trees, flowers, bushes and grass. Gift shop is priced higher than it should be, obviously. All the amenities feel like they’re in the basement (gym, game room, spa, etc.) and even the casino - which had the typical casino feel with the colored carpet, lights, and mirrors but smells like a basement plus cigarettes.

I’ll start off by giving a big shout out to to the entertainers like Sebastian and the others the did great with what they had ! Overall experience was terrible . I stayed here back in 2019 and remember it being so much better with food, diversity , atmosphere. And more . This time was the worse I’ve been . First the rooms was very basic with is fine but then literally no one speaks English ! No staff ! No bar tender! Nobody at the pool ! Nobody at the little events ! Back in 2019 is was more half and half then time all Spanish speaking so frustrating because they don’t even understand the context clues of you trying to explain what you’re saying ! Most of them looked like they just didn’t wanna be there each day . Food was all terrible ! They a put lunch out at 12 but half time it’s already cold ! Buffet had almost no beef or chicken mostly pork and fish and pasta ! Everyday selection! I’ve been to over 8 resorts I don’t complain at all but I had to say something about this one ! The nightclub was always smelling like sewage water and my bf said the men’s bathroom was flooded with almost a foot ! The woman’s bathroom was dirty and had large poop turds the made me really upset ! The casino was advertised to have over 40 slots they have 8 slot machines and 2 tables of blackjack nothing else in the whole casino but chairs and when you walk down there the ladies just starring into yo soul . Overall think it’s not really worth your money book elsewhere

We paid extra to get one of the best rooms because family members had told us that the air conditioning was poor in several of the rooms. However, the power went out, and it took about two hours before anyone came to fix it. The toilet was already clogged before we arrived, and it overflowed. It took the staff the entire day to come and inspect the problem.

There was no air conditioning or proper ventilation in the nightclub, making it very uncomfortable. Birds were landing on and touching the food in the buffet area, which was concerning.

The assigned butler made a genuine effort to assist us and provided good service. However, overall, the hotel was disappointing. The staff did not seem to give their best effort, and the level of service did not meet our expectations.

1. En el lobby personal del hotel nos vendieron una excursión y luego nos llevaron a otro lugar que iba a ser la mitad del recorrido, luego de pagar $550.00us

We stayed for a week and honestly had a great time! The views were beautiful and the service was wonderful. We had a butler who helped us reserve the Mexican, French, Dominican, and Japanese restaurants.

The French and Dominican restaurants were AMAZING — we absolutely loved the food there so much! Those were definitely our favorites.

The Japanese restaurant was fun because they cook in front of you, but we personally didn’t love the taste. The Mexican restaurant took a long time before we were able to order and get our food, and since we’re from Nashville, TN, we felt the Mexican food back home tastes better 😅

The buffet always had something for everyone though — me, my husband, and our 3-year-old all found food we liked. I also traveled with my 8-month-old baby and thankfully neither of my kids got sick during the trip.

We really enjoyed the entertainment team and the night shows every evening. Tuesday’s beach party with the fire show was amazing, and we loved the espuma foam party on Saturday!

Overall we truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again

A lot of reviews talk about lack of cleanliness or the food but honestly for me it was the complete opposite. yes maybe it wasn’t the most clean room BUT all it takes it a call to your butler or a walk to the front desk, to get your room cleaned, you can always ask for extra bottles of water to your room too. staff is very friendly and don’t push for tips, but they do pour heavy drinks to get you to tip but i’m not complaining. they have a variety of different food and even some places open until 4 am serving food (this is a necessity during a night of drinking) security is also very friendly, as long as your not too loud and aren’t causing damage your free to walk around the resort all night. you also feel very safe and protected on the resort as security and staff ensure you don’t leave the resort, and when you do leave for excursions, that it’s safe and not a scam. overall it was an amazing stay and for the price you pay, your definitely getting what you paid for.

The beach is the only thing that was 5 stars. The room-the bathroom ceiling and toilet leaked. (Maintenance came but leak didn’t get fixed). I shut the water off to the toilet at night to sleep. The bed was hard.
The speakers at the pool were so loud that we never used the pool. We also couldn’t take a nap because of the noise in the room. The food was good enough.
We stayed 7 days and were looking forward to our bed to be able to sleep. Not a relaxing vacation.

I have stayed at many resorts in Punta Cana. The Occidental Caribe, by far is considered my favorite because of the way the resort is situated. It has a U shape which I find very pleasing and intriguing. All the buildings are within the U shape and over looking at both the beautiful pools and the blue white sandy beach. The restaurants, buffet and other amenities are spectacular. The staff is awesome. They all showed professionalism, courtesy and respect. One person who stands out the most was Leslie Vilorio on the evening shift. I really admire her for her professionalism and for always going above and beyond to meet the guests at their needs. The services that Leslie and all of the staff members provided to the guests on a daily basis is excelent. I am looking forward to coming back with my family again next month.

Horrible experience. AC didn’t work properly, one of our rooms in the bathroom the ceiling would pour water and wet all the counter and floor. Went several time to front desk, they didn’t care, they didn’t even moved my family from those horrible rooms. Seems like outdated property with lots of issues in the rooms. Food was not good. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout the stay, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet expectations for a resort of this category.

The main issue was the food quality. The buffet lacked variety, and the taste and freshness were inconsistent. For an all-inclusive resort, this was disappointing and significantly impacted the experience.

Additionally, the casino felt misleading. The setup and payouts did not seem transparent, and it gave the impression of being more of a tourist trap than a legitimate entertainment option.

The property itself is decent, but the combination of poor food quality and a questionable casino experience made the stay underwhelming.

Overall, while the staff tried their best, I would not return unless there are improvements in food quality and clearer.

Mi experiencia en el Hotel Occidental Caribe en Punta Cana, República Dominicana, fue simplemente maravillosa. Desde el momento de nuestra llegada, el ambiente tropical, las hermosas playas de arena blanca y las instalaciones amplias y bien cuidadas nos hicieron sentir de vacaciones de verdad.

El hotel ofrece una gran variedad de actividades para todas las edades, excelente entretenimiento diario y nocturno, así como una buena selección gastronómica en sus restaurantes y buffet. Las piscinas son espaciosas, el acceso a la playa es espectacular y el ambiente general es alegre, relajado y familiar. Sin duda, es un lugar ideal tanto para descansar como para disfrutar en familia o en pareja.

Sin embargo, lo que realmente hizo nuestra experiencia aún más especial fue el trato excepcional del personal. Queremos destacar especialmente a Isaury de los Santos, quien se distinguió por su amabilidad, profesionalismo y atención genuina. Siempre con una sonrisa, dispuesto a ayudar y asegurándose de que cada detalle fuera perfecto, su servicio marcó una gran diferencia durante nuestra estadía. Personas como Isaury elevan la calidad del hotel y hacen que uno quiera regresar.

Agradecemos al equipo del Occidental Caribe por unas vacaciones memorables. Sin duda, recomendamos este hotel y esperamos volver pronto para disfrutar nuevamente de su hospitalidad y del excelente servicio de personas como Isaury de los Santos.

We had a very pleasant stay at Occidental Caribe in Punta Cana. The resort is beautiful, and overall the experience was enjoyable.

One staff member who truly stood out was Fedirna. She was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay. She regularly checked in to see if we needed anything and went above and beyond to assist us. Thanks to her, we were able to secure dinner reservations for two nights, which made our experience even better. Her kindness and dedication deserve special recognition.

The only downside was the check-in process, which took almost an hour and could definitely be improved. Additionally, many staff members do not speak English fluently, which sometimes made communication a bit challenging. However, everyone was cooperative and always tried their best to help.

Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this resort for a relaxing vacation.
