Punta Cana Princess is not 5* resort, no more of 3!
We waited 4 hours for check in. All the staff are very slow. Be prepared to wait for everything. Our room has holes on the ceiling and the air conditioning works just to make noise. Was hot! The food in the restaurants was good but in the buffets- not so many choices. Buffet on the beach 7 days of exactly the same food- chicken, fish, pasta, rice, fried, burgers, pizza and salad. Beach- no towels afternoon and nobody clean it. Some guy comes to put chairs next to the umbrellas and takes the towels if somebody forgot to return, take the empty glasses but nothing else. In the morning you can find smelly food from the day before. Landscaping is good!

It was a nice property the sister property to it had a lot more amenities entertainment to offer and the food was much better on the other side so if you want quiet and peaceful, this property was perfect but it’s great that you also have the option to get on the shuttle and go to the other sister property because there was a lot more fun things to do over there and also the quality of the food was a lot better.

The pool was nice. The food was good if you could get seated or served.
I went to the steak house, and they sat me down then took my order. The waiter then took an order from a table of six. A few minutes later a couple was seated next to me. They took their order. The table of six received their appetizers, then the couple that were seated after me received their appetizers. They were almost finished their appetizers and i still had not been served mine. So, i left.
I came back a few days later to try and give them another chance. There was no one at the entrance to seat people for about 10 minutes. When someone showed up i asked for a table. The person said to wait a moment. I waited for another 10 minutes. I looked through the windows and saw several empty tables. So, once again i left dissatisfied.

Hello! I normally do not leave a review or give my opinion when we travel but I felt in my heart that people need to know. We work hard so we can travel once a year.

This was our first visit here. I want to start by saying that the Punta Cana Princess has so much potential. The grounds are beautifully stunning, and the staff are genuinely warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, our room was a major letdown - the heat was unbearable in the first room in building 4. They moved us to building 5 on the bottom floor and the AC was a little better but it was still hot in our room. We had some issues with the amenities in the rooms. The shower heads need to be replaced. The shower flooded the bathroom. And the phone in both rooms did not work.

We paid for VIP, but aside from a nice lobster dinner, it felt like a waste of money. With the phone issues we could not use the room service unless we walked all the way to customer service.

With some attention to the rooms and the VIP experience, this resort could be truly amazing but we will not return unless the do some major upgrades to the rooms!

We paid the upgrade to the honeymoon suite but the room was identical to the last room that we had two years ago at the standard rate. From what we could tell all of the rooms are identical. Air conditioning was terrible the room stayed around 27C (80F). The food was not great but the staff was wonderful. The rooms are clean and the pool was too. If you tip frequently, you will get the absolute best service. Swim up bar was great but the “animation crew did not do as well compared to our last visit two years ago.

I stayed here for 2 nights in May 2026 after transferring from the Grand Bavaro Princess and this hotel is much better: smaller scale, more spacious, less crowded, better food, etc.

However the beach here has lots of seaweed which is a drawback. There were also very few electrical outlets in the room to charge cellphones, laptops, etc.

My biggest complaint was the loudness of the music at the pool in the afternoon which seemed to have no limits. I couldn't even stand it from the balcony of my room #4222 which was directly across from the large music speaker.

It’s very relaxed, which is great if that’s what you’re going for, but if you’re going for entertainment it was very bland. Beware if you’re looking for premium drinks and spa access it’s 40 dollars a night extra.

Well upon arrival we were given the wrong room. We had booked the honeymoon suite. After letting them know this, they said “oh, all our suites are the same, we didn’t know you wanted THAT one!” When I showed them the picture of the one I had booked (two tiered with stairs leading to an upper loft/hot tub area. I laughed and said, I didn’t think I needed to tell you, I figured when I clicked BOOK NOW I was choosing my room. Honestly, I felt like they were just trying to see if they could put me in another room and sell my room again to someone else. Finally, they switched me into the proper room. & on the way, I ran into another couple from England or Australia that was sitting outside of the locker room. I said oh that sucks. You have been waiting a while, huh? They said yeah two hours to get into our room. I said yeah they gave me the wrong room. And then they guessed my room number and said let me guess you have the honeymoon suite? I said yes I do. And they said yeah they tried to do the same thing to us. So obviously this is some kind of scam they try to pull. Where they put people in a lesser room after they book it. Anyways, I ended up getting the proper room and it was a nice room. The shower leaks at the bottom all over the floor, but I just got some towels there every day lol to fix that problem. The cleaning lady was quite nice. She did a good job. But the room wasn’t clean & ready until I went and gave her a tip and had her come to our room. But decent stay after.

The resort was okay, the food is okay, very quiet resort, no disco in the resort. Very few people participate in the activities there was maybe 2 times in a whole week where there was some fun by the pool but other than that entertainment is almost inexistant. As a solo traveler if you want to socialize I suggest going elsewhere. A little bit of mold in the shower and one beds pillow smelled very bad but other than that no problem.

I loved this property qnd all it had to offer....Everyone was so great. The only probl2m i had was there no towels in my room and after jumping in shower and noticing it took 2 phone calls and 45 mins to get them. Also VIP is extra however i had a hard time getting the extra after paying for that day when arriving at 4pm....
However the property the staff and all inclusive was amazing. The woman at the front desk is Outstanding...they got me a free car to souvinir shop and even he was amazing!
The experience was so amzing it made me almost wanna forget about the not so good part...the cabanas with butler...amazing.

Well I can start by saying upon check in I had to carry my luggage to and from my room)up three flights of steps there were no elevators. As I observed them help others carry luggage and transport guests on buggies to and from their rooms. It was my birthday weekend they said I would receive a basket with gifts and champagne that I never seen.If you dont speak Spanish they basically won't acknowledge you. It was hard to get around on the resort with no help was dropped off several times at wrong restaurants that I had reserved dinner to so I missed that had to eat at buffet. To spend your money and be treated like trash was a slap in the face. I will visit the Dominican Republic again, but i would not book at this resort never, ever ever ever again!!!!! This resort gets two thumbs down for hospitality

The only 2 negative comments I have are,
We paid for the VIP service, which was not cheap, and there were several things on the list that we did not receive. I told guest services everyday and they just brushed off. That was irritating. Second, all the beach chairs were taken or “reserved” first thing in the morning and they would run out of loungers by 9am. Luckily we were able to snag a big 2 person sun bed with our VIP bracelets but I saw a lot of people very irritated.

“My stay at Punta Cana Princess was overall okay, but there were several issues. The room was not as clean as expected—the bathroom, especially the toilet, was dirty, and the room itself felt very hot as the AC wasn’t working well. I was also given a loft room, which was quite dark.

We reserved a suite which was not available the first night we were there due to a pipe breaking leaving the resort without water. The staff was really good in trying to rectify all of the issues we experienced because there were more. We ended up with a nice room with an ocean view. Ocean views at this resort a very limited. The food is just bad, no other way to describe it. It seems the property is just old and tired. The grounds are very well kept though. Just too old and expensive for what you get.

Punta Cana Princess – Disappointing Stay, Not a 5-Star Experience**

This is absolutely not a 5-star hotel, and the overall experience was very disappointing.

The room conditions were unacceptable. The temperature stayed around 75°F and could not be lowered, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Basic amenities were lacking, only two towels were provided, and even after requesting more, they never arrived. There were also no washcloths at all.

Several things in the room were broken or poorly maintained, including the refrigerator and the toilet seat. The bathroom itself was in poor condition, including mold in the bathroom which is not what you expect from a resort advertising luxury.

The room key constantly deactivated, forcing repeated trips to the front desk which was extremely frustrating.

Dining options were very limited. There were only three restaurants, and one was closed. The steakhouse was open but didn’t even have steak, which says a lot, their excuse was the truck is running late and this happened during the entire stay. The buffet was underwhelming, with bland food and very little variety.

The pool was cold, making it unpleasant to use, and the **entertainment was mediocre at best.

Staff service was inconsistent like some employees were very kind and helpful, while others were noticeably rude and unprofessional.

Even getting to the resort was an issue the road leading in is in terrible condition, which sets the tone before you even arrive.

I would not recommend staying here. All older people and they kept staring at us. I’m 35 and my wife is 32 definitely not my cup of tea. No top shelf alcohol even for a up charge. Very disappointing experience. We arrived and immediately found the room uncomfortable. We were being bitten during the night, which felt like fleas, and it became very itchy and unpleasant. On top of that, there were roaches in the bedroom, which made the stay even worse.

The food included in the all-inclusive package was poor and far below expectations. We raised our concerns and asked for an upgrade, but there was little effort to properly address the situation.

By the next day, we had decided we could not stay any longer. No refund was offered, and although I was forced to pay a 50% fee to leave early, I accepted it because I did not want to spend the rest of my vacation there.

The front desk staff member listening to our complaints was not helpful and seemed more focused on keeping our money than resolving the issues.

Overall, the property feels old, poorly maintained, and not worth the cost. This was a terrible experience, and I would strongly recommend booking elsewhere if you want to actually enjoy this beautiful island. There are far better options available.

I recently traveled to this hotel over this past weekend for my birthday and I would say that the posting for this versus the reality of what the hotel looks like it's very deceiving the rooms look nothing like what's posted online. I'm not sure. How did they get four stars? I would easily rate this a three star hotel. The rooms are outdated very dusty dirty. The bed was exceptionally hard. The Jacuzzi that came in a deluxe suite did not work overall the staff was actually really really great. Five star stars by far the Customer Service is exceptional. The property and the rooms are very very outdated. It gives about a 2005 2010 feel.

Rooms need updating. No hot water the entire trip. They put me in a basic room the first day even though I paid for the beachfront honeymoon suite. Food was just ok. Staff on the beach was amazing! Property is beautiful. Beach is even better, but they don’t answer the phones or emails or room service so once you’re there you have to just hope things go ok. I personally had to repair multiple things in my room including the broken toilet handle and water valve and leaking ceiling air conditioner because nobody responds to phone calls or requests. They even gave me a number to call that was out of service… better management would make this a better place. It says 5 stars but it’s really about 3

The beach was beautiful and the waters were crystal clear and blue. The sand was white and soft. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet, which helped us to relax. The resort grounds were very safe to walk around in and well maintained. The spa massage was so amazing and I wish you would’ve done that as soon as we arrived. I believe it costed $50 US for 25 minutes, we got a couples massage so it was about $100 together. Well, worth it we really loved visiting the other resorts and checking them out and seeing what they were like.

Overall, we had a good stay. The landscaping was amazing — you can really see the effort they put into maintaining the grounds, and it made the resort feel beautiful and relaxing. The entertainment staff were also fantastic and did an amazing job keeping guests engaged and having fun.

That said, there are a few areas that could be improved. The rooms could definitely use more renovation and updating. We also had issues with our key cards not working properly, which was frustrating. One of the towel attendants was quite rude, which didn’t leave a good impression. Additionally, it would help if more staff had stronger English communication skills to make interactions easier for guests.

Food was okay — not bad, but not particularly memorable either.

Overall, a good stay with great outdoor spaces and entertainment, but some service and room improvements would make the experience much better.

The room definitely needed some updates, but everything else was truly awesome. The food was great, the people were warm and welcoming, and the beach and pool were absolutely beautiful.

• Israel and Elvis, our wonderful servers

They went above and beyond every day.

One honest note: I do not recommend the massage services — definitely an area that needs improvement.

I’m stunned this place is still open. It’s dated and dirty. The road leading up to it might as well have been the Oregon trail.

Canadians are the nicest people. I met a man at the bar from Canada and it was his first trip to the Dominican Republic. He paid for VIP access and said he’d never return. As a Dominican that has been to at least a dozen resorts on the island, I’ve never met someone that was so unimpressed with it.

I’ve attached pictures. These reviews must be bot generated. I am stunned that the resort rated across various sites. Do not believe them.

This review is not a reflection on the employees or service. They are lovely and it’s not their fault they’re working in what I imagine Shady Pines looked like before Sophia burned it to the ground. Except for housekeeping because just look at the pictures.

I had a great stay at Punta Cana Princess Adults Only. The hotel is very nice, well maintained, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. My room was clean and comfortable, which made it easy to fully enjoy the trip. The food and drinks were good with plenty of options, and the staff was welcoming and professional throughout my stay.

One thing to note is that the resort feels more suited for a senior or laid-back crowd. If you’re younger and looking for more energy or a party vibe, the sister hotel nearby would probably be a better fit. Overall, it was a lovely experience and a great choice for anyone wanting a peaceful all-inclusive getaway.

Punta Cana Princess was a great resort. The staff was excellent all around. The beach and views were excellent. Our room had an amazing sunrise view. My only comment was that the buffet food was only ordinary. But the nice thing is that you can have them custom grill eggs and chicken, so nice! The dinners were great, especially the Italian and Swiss Fondue. It would be great to have a good coffee shoppe on the property but at least you can walk to the other Princess resort and get that. You can even bood dinners at other Princess resorts nearby. All in all the room, view, beach, location, and staff were great. Oh, please tip your staff well, they work really hard! The weather was amazing as well. Go, relax and enjoy.

The rooms need an upgrade. The room smelled like it had not been air out in months.Toilet and TV weren’t working. They promote an adult only but there is no real entertainment for adults. This needs to be promoted for 65 and older crowds. after 10:30 there is nothing to do at the hotel. The staff sounded like they were having more fun than the guests half the time. The road to get to the hotel definitely needs fixing too. There was not many variety with the food and most of the time it was on the salty side. But on another note one staff member that went above and beyond was Ingrid from the buffet dining that decorated the table for my bday and made sure I felt special. That made my day…

The hotel was okay, but it didn't quite meet my expectations.
The Cons:
Cleanliness: The bedsheets weren't very clean, and our balcony door was broken. I expected a much higher standard of housekeeping.
Sales Pitch: On our first day, they took up 90 minutes of our time with a \"vacation package\" presentation. It was very frustrating to lose our breakfast and morning relaxation time to a sales meeting as paying guests.
Food: The food was average—not bad, but not great either.
The Pros:
Staff: The highlight was definitely the staff. They were very friendly and professional throughout our stay.
A decent stay, but the hotel needs to focus more on room maintenance and stop bothering guests with sales presentations.

The staff was absolutely amazing but they can’t control the hotel itself. The entire time there was no hot water so all showers were cold. Then we had no water at all in the entire building for half a day. The AC did not work, switched rooms and still no AC. There were very limited food options and most times nothing to eat at all as most restaurants were closed during the day. The upside is you do have access to the sister properties but because you aren’t their priority you are last to be served.
The concierge offered a tour to the other property which ended up being a timeshare and we were yelled at and scolded when we said we weren’t interested.
I give the resort a 4 and the staff a 10.

I saw good reviews on this resort and decided to try it out. This resort was better than I expected. It was very open and beautiful coming into the lobby. The staff was very friendly. Our concierge was very attentive of our needs. We got our Deluxe Room which was worth it as it brings a Hot Tub and the balcony is spaced out. The food was delicious on all restaurants offered and they did provide a variety but you could also find similarities from the other buffets so you won’t have to walk far. The best thing we did was Parasailing as an excursion and it was all smooth and easy to do. They have members around the complex ready to show you any excursion available and they are worth it. I al loved the animation team! They really gave energetic performances and made you want to always dance even if you didn’t know how!!! They definitely made people feel welcomed and were very happy to make sure our stay was the best possible. Only downside is that I wish the rooms had more outlets or modern plugs for USB’s but it is a traditional style resort with modern touches so maybe it’s part of the style. Will certainly be back with my husband and family.

The resort is in a beautiful area. The beach is pretty nice. Rooms are clean but very old with a lot of problems : leaking AC, flooding toilets, malfunctioning keys, etc.
Overall I would give it three stars.

Beautiful place, but the beach was closed due to coral debris, this was not advised before, so I recommend to be more clear about those details, so customers do not get false expectations. Also staff needs to be more friendly.

Pluming in the Rooms was very old, and brought a lot of problems, phones and keys didn’t work, had to reconfigure it every day, variety of food very poor, problem with availability of towels in the room and on the beach. It is not 5 stars resort like it is described, mostly 2 stars,

This resort was booked for our honeymoon and it was a complete disappointment. The rooms are falling apart. We stayed in a room that had basically no air conditioning and was 23 1/2° and then was moved to another room that was 26°. It was impossible to sleep and impossible to enjoy our honeymoon. The AC would drip into the room and made the wall soft. The shower would flood the bathroom. The door handles were falling off. The phone hardly worked.
We paid a lot of money to stay at this resort and will never stay at a princess resort ever again.

Jacuzzi looks very old and bathroom could be more maintained.
Food variety is not the best. After 2nd day, it feels repetitive.
The reception person when I did the check in didnt give me all details.. bare minimum.
I learned from other guests that one can go to hotel next door for other restaurants. Which it was much much better food.
The people working in the entertainment are friendly and doing a good job.
I was in other hotels where food and much more entertaining.

The room was falling apart. The last two days there was a weird leak from the ceiling, so using the toilet was out of the question cause questionable water would drip on to my backside. No hot water most of the time which I could live without, so I was ok with that one. I used the tub and that was dissapointing cause I forgot there was no hot water...The cleaing staff did a great job but the hotel needs a lot of work. I usually stay at the Princess adults only in Playa del Carmen and have done so for the last 12yrs...this year we decided to try punta cana...never again.
