I was very disappointed with this facility. While the grounds were exceptional the rooms were very old, outdated, and probably haven't had any updated or improvements since the day it was built. I was very unhappy that I made this selection with so many nice places in the vicinity.

The staff was always confused and unsure. They also confirmed airport pick up and then forgot and never showed up. Leaving me to figure it out. The seaweed was very bad and they made a poor effort to clean it. The drinks were horrible and did not taste how they were supposed to. They promote 3 restaurants but I only have the third opened every other day. Rooms did not have comforters only a thin sheet. Pool was nice.

it was horrible rooms very old couldn't even open the closet doors and the main pool was under remodeling . sea weed on the beach couldn't even see the sand. piles of it and the smell from see weed. its the worst hotel in Punta Cana. expedia should not even put this hotel in travel section . it had 4 star rating it should minus 4 stars. i will never book thru expedia again. i should get a full refund from my stay thank you for your time. jm

For the most part the staff was excellent! We didn’t receive a true welcoming once we arrived. The reason we stayed at the hotel was to possibly look into having a wedding there. We learned that at check-in they no longer host wedding. 😡 Need to remove that from advertising. We had bugs in our room, contacted service desk - we were told someone was coming. No one showed (we reported the sighting 1 day and we were there for 4 nights). We ended buying bug spray and doing it ourselves. I’m sure others have had great experiences, ours wasn’t. It’s an outdated hotel with tons of potential. If I see it ever gets renovated, may try again. However we will not be back anytime soon!

JUST KNOW THAT WI-FI IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE RESTAURANT OR LOBBY. There’s no Wi-Fi in your rooms. The staff was nice but honestly and truly this hotel is run down/ outdated . There were stains on my bed, the bathroom sink was clogged up. I had initially booked for 4 nights due to the price but ended up booking for Catalonia resort. The difference was like day and night. I enjoyed my stay at Catalonia. It’s mostly senior people at the VIK resort and the food was limited and not visually appetizing. Book if this is your first experience with an all inclusive so when you book better you’d appreciate it .

La llave la use 5 días y me cobraron 6 días

The property was perfect for our vacation. It was small enough to feel intimate and safe, the pool and beach area were nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Dining options for a vegetarian were limited to the buffet and the snack bar, which were sufficient but a little boring after 5 days.

There wasn’t a locking safe in the hotel room and it was difficult to lock the patio doors. But we didn’t encounter any safety concerns.

I liked the staff , but my bed gave me this bad break out on my shoulders and I discovered that the bed was just being re-made but the sheets weren’t being changed which made me break out on terrible on my arms it’s looks like I have walked into poison ivy or sumac . The food and drinks basically all closed at 10pm and then the cost of leaving the resort was expensive that we had to cancel trips and books rides with Uber. The food was decent the first day but there was little to no variety. The same thing everyday it almost became nasty .

This hotel was depressing, service was bad, food was limited and horrible, it was not clean, do not think of coming back here. I am very easy going and flexible, I don’t expect at all, but this hotel need help all around, some of their staff were very impatient and not very helpful. ****Note, this place looks like it is getting back on its feet after covid. It looks like it's trying to recover.

-Only two restaurants - No buffet - Maybe after covid it'll get open
-No entertainment
-No one at the main desk when you arrive you have to walk into the heart of hotel to get to the reception (I believe they are working on this)
-Language barrier - you should speak basic Spanish
-Food was a hit or miss
-Only a limited choice of deserts offerred which is fruit, ice cream, flan, bananna pudding, chocolate fondant and tiramisu (all inclusive??? No cake, pie or muffins offered)
-Only one station to get coffee which is the main bar
-Gargantuan amount of Seaweed on the beach - but it was the season for it
-Major maintenance needed
-No sports bar, staff entertainment or activities.
- only two pools
- overgrown landscaping
- No posting of designated hours for meals times
- Poor communication such as no specific on where to get your covid test done, that you need to pay for it the day of
-NO gift shop on premise-so you can't get toothpaste or sunscreen.
- No Spa or Gym
- Nothing is near by - No town, mall ect.

-Get upgraded!! To the Cayena members only-included sodas in fridge, digital safe, smart tv(netflix) & 3 balconies/sitting areas(real beach view) they might try to place you in building 2,3,4, where you can see the beach from a distance.

This property was very clean, the staff was great. I would not, however, rate it four stars. Free wifi was only in the lobby. There was a charge for using the safe in the room (never been charged for that). The food wasn't amazing, It was just okay. The foreign tourists who stay at the property smoke literally everywhere in the hotel making it quite uncomfortable for those who dislike cigarette smoke. Every morning I was haggled to buy a tour or to partake in a time share meeting. That was annoying since i just really wanted to relax alongside my family.
The waitstaff was very friendly, the reception as well. Very clean rooms.

Great hotel and friendly staff

For what it is this hotel is great. When you arrive you may think it’s dated but it’s quite simple and you begin to love it. Everything is pretty close to your bedrooms and after two days you’ll appreciate that.

The food is gorgeous...I can’t fault it. We never got sick and it’s all delicious!!

They have a few restaurants on site as well as their world buffet. Snacks are available all day and night.

I think where they could improve is their night time entertainment for adults, however there are so many local clubs a short taxi ride away for $ 15 return journey

Satisfies Your Beach Needs

It is a solid 3.5 / 5.0 hotel...the beach is nice/quiet/clean....that is what you come for!
It's a good choice if you need a quiet, clean, getaway - that is affordable. Walking outside the hotel is pretty dangerous at night though...so plan on taxi's or staying on Resort campus.

1St Time All Inclusive Experience

Being my first visit to the island, I did not plan accordingly. Did not anticipate seclusion of the property. No easy access to the city. 99% of guests were all European. My being Black, I did not find the atmosphere too friendly. (Even had one unfriendly encounter with a German fellow; 1/2 my age, twice my size, & rude)! Also, quality of the food at 2 seperate meals was not worth it. (Even though it was inclusive. Cocktails too were sub-par, as none were premium brands).
Facilities are nice, & staff very pleasant, but experience needed to be supplemented with other activities/interests.

Stunning hotel right on the beach

Me and my cousins took a week long girls trip to the DE in July for my birthday, it was the best vacation of my life. All the staff is super friendly they make you feel like family. Pablo our bartender was fantastic made the perfect drinks. The hotel was clean and the food was amazing. The beach was clean and beautiful! It's an experience I will never forget it felt like home, and We will be going back in January for TWO WEEKS! can't wait

Got food poisoning, terrible staff

Got food poisoning at this resort, and had to be sent to the emergency room outside the resort which cost over $800. The hotel staff didn't check on us or offer any reimbursement for the expense at the emergency room. When we tried to ask for reimbursement, they said they wouldn't be able to and didn't even apologize for what had happened. Had to got o the emergency room again once we arrived in NY and the results were the same as in DR, it was a stomach bug gotten from food or water at the resort. We did not go outside the resort, so it wasn't anything from outside. We sent the doctor reports over to the hotel to prove to them that it was from the food consumed there and they still said they will not be able to reimburse anything back. The staff was unapologetic about what had happened. This was a terrible experience, we went on vacation to relax and enjoy, and ended up sick, and spending a lot more money. I would not recommend anyone staying here.

This resort is very old and needs a major update. We were in the Cayena part which is supposed to be their VIP members only part. Despite this, the room was very musty and decrepid. The food was ok nothing to rave about. They use very cheap liquor everywhere in the property (sports bar, lobby, the disco etc) except the Cayena part where they serve national drinks. So you could only drink a half decent cocktail if you stay in the Cayena part of the property The only bright spot was the pool and some of their staff. I cannot stress how you should stay away.

We stayed for the first week of July. Weather was perfect except for one day when it was overcast (it had thunderstorms the night before, we watched the lightning on the beach as a bonus, with the 4th of July fireworks too). The location is perfect with a great beach too. The restaurants were pretty good and the food was nice and changed each day too considering it's all inclusive and usually isn't that nice. The room service was non-existent though. We asked for water before bed one night as our fridge wasn't filled one day and it took an hour to get to us. We also asked for bath towels one night as the house keeping took old towels but didn't replace them with any! Took another hour to get them.
Overall it's pretty good value for the price you pay. Great location, good food, facilities need an update.

Bed Bugs!

I have traveled all over the world and have never had a room this bad. The pillows were like rocks as were the mattresses. There were 2 beds in the room after not sleeping restfully the first night and waking up with bed bug bites I tried the second bed, it was just as bad. Management said they would fumigate the room but I still had bed bug bites.The musty smell of the room was overwhelming and affected my breathing. I was in room 5013 ocean view.
The food was fine keeping in mind that this is the Dominican Republic.The man at guest services was very rude when I asked about going off property... They would prefer you spend your money at the resort in my opinion.Please keep in mind that any taxi you take from the property the hotel will get a commission because they allow them on the property. The same goes for excursions the hotel will get a percentage. I suggest shopping and pricing before you go if you want to add excursions to the trip. Keep in mind also the Dominican Hustle, not the dance lol. There are three prices in the DR first the gringo price, the highest they can try to get then the resident gringo price which may be half what they are asking and finally the Dominican price which is about one quarter of their first quote but you will seldom if ever get that price. I will not go back to Punta Cana although most of the Dominicans are friendly and helpful the beaches here in Clearwater Florida are nicer and you can drink the water.I would also recommend negril

The staff was very pleasant and attentive but when you need something like towels or request for something at your room it takes them too long to complete your request. It they complete it at all. But the hotel is a place that you want to go to relax. The food was just okay and my overall experience was just that okay.

The check in personnel were inadequate.

The check in personnel were inadequate and rude. It seemed as if they gave preferential treatment to Spanish speaking guests. They didn't make any effort to ask if I have any excursions reserved. Nor did they advise me of the excursions desk. Never visiting with this hotel again. I was less than pleased. The front desk and the lounge area smelled moldy!!

I was there on May 17,2017 and people are still resvering umbrellas, a Russian girl came up to me as I was under some ones umbrella minding my own business when she was pulling my towel from under my head she was mad because there were no more umbrellas left so she sat on some ones towel and stayed, she wanted me to leave but I hung in there I was there before her! I see how rude they are at the buffet table taking all the fresh fruit butting up in front of you like they never saw fresh fruit before! Besides rude Russians I had a nice time .

Um....Lesson Learned

My god sister and I chose to come to celebrate our 30th birthday. To be honest I literally had the most peaceful vacation as far as relaxation goes(due to time spent on the beach) however the over all experience was something that had it's hits and many misses. The food wasn't that great AT ALL but the staff in the buffet restaurant as well as the front desk staff and the laundry lady was so sweet even with the language barrier. The front desk was very helpful with the exception of Naomi, needless to say she is NOT trustworthy and is quick to switch her story/her words when confronted. Last but not least we had an unexpected and unwanted guest...BED BUGS! Although I wasn't affected, my god sister was bitten multiple times by bed bugs in our room that was near the beach. The toilet had to be flushed twice in order for it to actually flush properly. Although we were treated fairly nice by the wait staff I will not be visiting this establishment again.

Really enjoyed my vacation at vik! Staff is wonderful, animation staff is the absolute best. The food is good, but there is room for improvement. The beach is lovely. The people who help book excursions are great, but a little too pushy. A few changes to make: get the WiFi fixed! The people who want to talk to you and give the free gifts need to back off a lot. When I say no thanks, I do not appreciate them touching me and asking when am I not happy. Finally, I think the gardens need a little more love. Overall a great vacation!

Beach side all inclusive hotel seemed great.

The hotel seemed great at first. Beautiful location, lovely huge pool and manicured grounds, and lots of bars everywhere. Unfortunately they said they had 5 restaurants but really only had two open. They decided to construct a new dining deck two days before Christmas and the sounds of saws and hammers etc. right next to the pool went non-stop for 24 hours.
The alcohol available at the numerous bars was completely watered down and tasted terrible. There was not even any real alcohol available to purchase. Our room smelled so bad from mold we burned candles and had both windows open the whole time. The rooms fan didn't work either. Also, the wifi worked only in the lobby and was sporadic. I would never go there again. Yes, first world problems in the third world, but it certainly cost enough to warrant better.

Small resort right on a beautiful beach

Not fancy, not 5 star but very nice cozy resort. If you like self-serve this is the right resort. Check in and out unexpected fast. Wi-fi available only in the main lobby. Food typical Caribbean, very good with different options every day. Entertainment ok. Tourists mainly from Europe and Canada. I will definitely go back.

We booked this hotel because it was SUPER cheap. I read the reviews not seeing one that would keep me from booking this, the typical \"food was bad, beds were bad\" yada yada typical reviews... I would recommend going to the counters at the buffet where they have a cook actually making something. The beds were hard and poor A/C in the rooms, these were doable. If it were just those things I would have given this hotel a 4 but:
- check-in is at 3 but because of all the late check-outs, our check-in was 4 (no biggie really)
- The HECKLING! not the type you get one the beach with people trying to sell you stuff, the HOTEL trying to sell you stuff! At check-in you're handed a brochure with a time in the morning the next day for a MANDATORY meeting with someone to tell you when pickup for the flight home will be but really its a 2 hour meeting with someone trying to get you to book excursions.
- The HECKLING! We were told by a staff member after 2 days they are supposed to show people around the VIP area and each person he walks through, he gets paid commission. When we went (because we felt bad and wanted him to get paid) they had us sit down with a rep. that tried to get us to book VIP for our next trip (this typically takes 3 hrs she said)
- COCKROACHES! we were all in building 1000 on the lower level and got a notice they were going to fumigate. Later that night we found one in one of the rooms and another a few days later!

I heard building 4 and 5 were remodeled js.

Hotel was spotless, staff extremely accommodating; our needs were taken care of even though not all understood English. Have no complaints about accommodations. Foods however; the meats overall were overcooked to my taste - though I believe may be a cultural difference - didn't matter whether bacon, burgers or steaks. Speciality restaurants were great! Seafood, Italian and the best for me was the Mexican; both for food and one of the best margarita's I've had in a long time. Biggest complaint of my fellow travelers was that in all inclusive package, top shelf alcohol was not included. Excursions offered by on ground personnel were a joke. None of the packages were what we signed up for. ie.: snorkling package - bartered down from $80 to 65.00 pp. What we got was 1.5 hour ride to site, stopping off to shop for 45 min on the way(didn't want to shop), only getting 15mins to snorkle, and then being taken to beach for 3.5 hours, followed by a booze-stop over. Was a good day- but not what we had paid for.

Reading the reviews that were previously posted prior to the trip, I was not expecting the great hotel the VIK turned out to be. The staff was EXTREMELY FRIENDLY, the room was very comfortable, the swimming pools were very clean as well as the beautiful grounds that surrounded our every move. Great food (especially the Mexican restaurant :) and there was never a problem being seated in the buffet (omelets made to order) with the beauty of the luscious grounds surrounding you as you ate your breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The overall experience for the accommodations the offered were a very strong FOUR STAR. This is not an expensive hotel. We received a huge Bang for our buck for the money spent. We love to travel and will always recommend this resort.

Terrible hotel!

I have to said that Punta Cana it's a beautiful place and that their culture, food and people are fenomenal. But always there has to be something bad.
First of all as soon as we get to the hotel we wait 2 hours to get our room and on top of that they didn't gave us the room I paid for it.
3- the reception was a mess, like they didn't know what they were doing?
4- there was cockroaches so, we call for extermination and of course they said yes they will send someone but they didn't send anyone.
5-the bathroom faucets didn't work too.
so in overall not recommend this hotel.

There are other better hotels

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were asked for a printed copy of the voucher. Showing the voucher# on the expedia app was not sufficient and without wifi and no international data, it was a 3 hour check in. One of the staff just stopped responding to our questions or even looking at us once he came to know that we did not have a paper voucher. Other then this one staff member, all the other staff members were extremely polite and helpful.

The premise is not so clean and we could see pools of spilt coffee and water. The hotel rooms are not so fancy but sufficient. If you are like me looking for good standards, don't go there.

In the omlet bars, stir fry bars and other made to order spots be ready to get more then you asked for as the same utensils like spoons are used. We had a hard time (in broken spanish) to let them know not to use the same spoons and having 2 vegetarians in the group was much more difficult.

The beach is awesome and the pools are well kept.

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca

Besides the fact that we stood in line for 45 minutes to check in, because the hotel staff have no idea what they are doing and do not have rooms prepared for their guests to check in. Thank God I understood Spanish. You get 2 cards for your room and 2 cards for pool towels. If you lose the cards its $20 to get new ones and if you misplace or lose your towel you do not get your card back. Pool towels are not given out after 4pm and the pool closes at 7pm. The staff member at the towel booth was very rude and arrogant. The hotel staff at the Mexican Restaurant were very friendly and outgoing. They even had a couple of shots with my Husband and I. Made our last night worth the stay. The hotel overall is a family oriented hotel, so I wish I had taken my son with us. Unfortunately there is no night life at the hotel after 6pm. No music playing, no bands, no activities or anything.

NOT 4 STARS. MAYBE 2. Horrible staff, no wifi, no night life, pool closes at 7pm and restaurants at 9:30pm. Air conditioning broken in 2 rooms on 2 different nights. Hotel was hard to deal with due to language barrier. Food was mediocre at best. Very pushy excursion sales staff at hotel. They'll offer to sell you drugs though... GO ANYWHERE ELSE. ANYWHERE. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY FOR A NICER RESORT.

Great value. Slightly higher than budget hotel,

Tip: extra at checkin and see if you can get an ocean front room in bldg 5, but there's a lot of great ocean view rooms in almost every bldg.

All staff was great on site. If u have used baseball hats or little mcdonalds toys or crayons feel free to bring for the hotel staff when you check out or during game your trip.

The AC is AWESOME in all the rooms.

You can ask the gardeners for a fresh coconut and tip them.

Book your excursions ahead of time if you are limited on time.

Food is typical hotel all inclusive food, Wednesdays are authentic DR local food. So sad I missed it.

Great location but.........

We spent a week here and paid the extra for an ocean suite but the room quality was very poor. The view was superb but the furnishings were shabby, chipped and rusting! Shower head and towel rail were loose, ceiling panels corroded and water dripping through the light fitting from the room above! The quality of the room did not reflect the photographs on the website and left us disappointed. Be prepared to pay extra for the safe!
The buffet food was good (although a lot of the cheese and cold meats are processed) and also offers freshly cooked food options (stir fry for example) but this is not conducive to eating with your fellow guests. For example one of us was eating whilst the other was standing in line waiting! The restaurant food was very hit and miss and a good meal was the exception rather than the norm! Stick to the fish as the meat was generally over cooked. The wine in the all inclusive was barely drinkable!
The snack bar food is just that - frozen burgers and hot dogs (unpleasant), pizza (okay) & chips.
Beach and pool are excellent, clean and plenty of sunloungers though keep away from the activity area if you want peace and quiet.
\"Communal holidays\" are not our thing but circumstances took us there and the entertainment was good. Considering there are so many people there isn't much waiting around & service is generally quick. Photographers can be a bit of a pest and we were accosted by the time share folks!
Great location but the quality needs to be improved!

Perfect Vacation

I spent 8 days with the family, wife and 8 year old son. We all had a great time. Perfect vacation. Excellent beach, Excellent pool, Excellent Food, and Excellent entertainment. I recommend it to everyone. All inclusive, and if you enjoy seafood you most attend the seafood night. The seafood was amazing !!!!!!!. We are planning to make it our Family spot. Perfect Vacation .

the food is not that good..

Got sick from the food in this place, also we ask for a room in first floor, because we ha ve a baby and the stroller, and like on porpouse they give us last floor the fartest room, two nigths after, and because we beg them they change us... A lot of people from north Eourope, they spit everywhere is disgusting, and smoke like crazy everywhere, not.a good place to be with a baby...

Average Hotel Good Beach

My wife and I have stayed several times at this hotel. It is pleasing and comfortable but nothing exceptional. The food is edible like all hotel buffets, and gets boring after 1 week. Most items are self serve and the staff generally ignores you. If you like to sit back and relax and not be bothered by anyone, this is a good hotel. If you want to be waited on continuously not going happen at this hotel. Since we know some of the staff we were treated differently from other guest that are not repeat customers. In general the hotel staff shows very little interest in the guests and their comfort.

Amazing beach, hotel & grounds

Amazing beach, clear blue water, plenty of lounge chairs. Room was amazing, we were upgraded at checkin to the cayena side & had an amazing suite at no extra charge. The cayena side also had its own private pool and a nicer beach area & wifi in the rooms & pool area. Staff was attentive & kept our mini fridge stocked & room clean. Food was great, all but one restaurant was included at no extra charge. Several bars located around the grounds (included) and they did not skimp on the alcohol. The drinks were amazing. The grounds were gorgeous and well maintained & at night it was all lit up for Christmas, very pretty. I would definitely stay here again.

We arrived after 14+ hours of traveling and they told us they were sending us to a different resort for 1 night (they tried to make it sound like a perk because we were special). We told them we did not want to do that after traveling so long, but we had no choice. They gave us $90.00 towards an excursion to compensate. I found the staff behind the counters to be kind of rude. The buffet was good but not very varied from day to day, basically same thing every night with a slight variation to a couple things. I would not recommend unless it is A LOT cheaper than other resorts. The other resorts we saw were a lot nicer. Punta Cana Princess, where they sent us the 1st night, was really nice and more friendly.
