Staff, for the most part was terrible. I actually dreaded going to dinner due to rude, dismissive behavior of the wait staff in all restaurants. Almost every employee throughout the resort looked like they hated their job. The food was so-so..

To top this off, our room, that was quite a hike from the main building had no elevator, and we had to hike up 4 flights of stairs, multiole times a day. The pools left a terrible film in our hair and lastly, our room had a terrible smell.

I have been multiple times to DR and this by far has been the best Hotel so far. The buffet food was amazing to the point that we went twice to a specialty restaurants and end up in the buffet . They have exotic fruits , all kind of seafood, Mexican food, Latin/ Caribbean food . The customer service was great !!!

It was hard to find some of the activities or know what the activity was as there was no description on the app.

We routinely needed things in the room that were not already taken care of, like fresh towels, a second blanket, wash clothes, empty minibar, empty soaps and conditioner bottles, clean glassware, etc.

Bueno mi pareja y yo fuimos a un viaje familiar a ese hotel buscando tranquilidad y armonía , donde lo que encontramos fue un terror , la atención era pésima nada profesional , una noche se metieron en mi habitación a robar y mi pareja y yo estábamos dormidos y yo desperté y vi aquella figura buscando en mis cosas , me aterré y la propiedad no hizo nada , no había seguridad ni atención ni cámaras ni nada fue como si nada hubiera sucedido. Yo quedé en pánico nunca más vuelvo a un RIU y espero muchas personas lean este mensaje para que no vallan

We had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone.

First and foremost, the room was infested with roaches. Seeing insects crawling around the space where you’re supposed to sleep is completely unacceptable. When I reported this to the front desk, the customer service was not only unhelpful but also dismissive. The manager refused to move us to another room and instead said they would “fumigate” the room—essentially expecting us to sleep surrounded by both roaches and pesticides. That is beyond unreasonable and frankly unsafe.

The issues didn’t stop there. The food quality was awful—bland, poorly prepared, and clearly not fresh. Definitely not what you would expect from a place that claims to offer a quality experience.

To make matters worse, the floors throughout the property were extremely slippery, which felt like a serious safety hazard. Walking around felt risky, especially in common areas.

And unbelievably, they charge a $3 fee just to make an appointment at their own spa. Charging guests simply to schedule a service is ridiculous and feels like a cash grab.

Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Between the unsanitary conditions, terrible service, and questionable policies, I strongly advise looking elsewhere.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The Staff was able all the time to help and give good service. The restaurants highly qualified,delicious food and excellent presentation. The bar staff and swim-up bar perfect with the service and the preparation of all different liquors and cocktails. Would like to be there again.

Extremely disappointing experience. The staff was very unprofessional and showed little concern for guests. During my stay, I was the victim of a robbery, and despite reporting the incident immediately, the hotel failed to take appropriate action or provide any meaningful assistance. Their lack of responsibility and empathy made an already upsetting situation even worse. I expected safety, support, and professionalism, but unfortunately, none of those expectations were met. I would not recommend this hotel and strongly advise others to be cautious.

The property is beautiful but the service is horrible. The Mexican restaurant was really bad. My husband got a bacteria from the food. I had to call all the time to get refill waters and clean towels. The drinks weren’t good.

We stayed for 7 days. Housekeeping did a wonderful job cleaning our room on a daily basis and making sure that our refrigerator was stocked with beverages. In terms of the resort, everything was spectacular. There were plenty of lounge chairs at the beach and at the various pools. It never felt too crowded. Additionally, there were activities to do during the day as well as entertainment at night. All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only drawback is that we could not figure out how to work our television in our room despite the fact that my husband and I are both very tech savvy people. Nonetheless, despite the television, we totally enjoyed our stay and we will definitely book to stay at this resort again in the future. We are already recommending this resort to family and friends.

The resort was really nice, clean and fun. Staff was friendly and funny at times. Food was excellent, my only issue was with the Italian restaurant, the lasagna was not good. The buffet was delicious, it was my favorite. The beach was so clean and the water felt like heaven, the pools were awesome. I played tennis for the first time, that was fun, I'm going to start playing now. Watching the Knicks at the sports bar with other guests was a blast. Overall the trip was excellent.

The hotel is very large and beautiful, and the staff provided excellent service throughout our stay. The overall atmosphere was great, and I would definitely recommend it.

The only negative aspect was the room, which had a noticeable musty smell. The food was very good, although there is still some room for improvement. The pool could probably use a bit more maintenance, but considering the large number of guests, it’s understandable that it may not always look perfectly clean.

Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and would recommend this hotel to others.

Me gustó la limpieza y la atención no me gustó el pasillo es muy resbaloso cuando llueve y eso Cues casi todos los días es tan resbaloso que me cai y mi manos tobabia las tengo inchada también mi ija y yo nos enfermamos co las comidas los últimos tres días no sabíamos comos montarnos en el avión pero conplamos medicina en la Famasia de Aropuelto y nos mejoramos gracias a Dios los demás están bien bien importantes que aregren el piso en él pasillo me pasé con mucho dolor eso N.A. me dejó disfrútalo mucho espero que no le pase a otros y pongan atención a la pesona cuando se car no te dan ni una aspirina ni caso te asen

Some of the bar staff wasn’t very friendly. I also overheard them making fun of guests. I thought it was terrible that you have to pay to play a pool game in the sports bar. If you’re at the pool or the beach, not many people come up to you and ask you if you need another drink. There was a broken part in the bathroom and the safe wasn’t working. We had to ask someone to come in. We did see a roach and the worker thought it was funny so I’m not sure why. These are a few things that we learned to help you out. Music wasn’t played at all times if you didn’t bring your own speaker there really wasn’t music unless there was an activity.

Beautiful place, our room was way back in the boonies so it took a minute to get anywhere. Housekeeping was good at first,then after 2nd day they were not leaving towels,wash clothes and kleenex. I ask everyday for wash clothes and never received any. But over all its a nice resort.

The property is beautiful. It is very large and we were pretty far away from other people in our party. We had a lot of problems with our room keys not working and having to go back to the lobby and get new ones. House keeping was great. Make sure you have a door hanger if you don't want them to come in, we didn't have one til I was told about it the last day. Evening entertainment was okay. If you have teenagers, there's not really any evening activities for them. The adult parties are at the resort beside this one and they are very strick making sure you are over 18 and check bags, maybe bring a clear one. If you are over 18. book an elite room if able, they come with more amenities. The beach is beautiful, but seaweed season is like May through August and it is pretty bad there.

My stay at Riu Punta Cana was disappointing due to poor organization, inconsistent service, and weak management. Manuel at the front desk was outstanding and did everything he could to help, but it often seemed he lacked support from management.

Check-in was disorganized, housekeeping was inconsistent after the first day, and room cleanliness and restocking did not meet expectations. The food was average, and restaurant service was poor, with little attention given to guests. The bartenders worked hard but appeared understaffed.

The entertainment was one of the few highlights and was enjoyable throughout the stay.

Having stayed at other Riu resorts, especially in Mexico, I expected much better customer service and hospitality. This location has significant room for improvement in management, staffing, communication, and guest relations. The resort also seemed focused on extra charges, which added to the frustration.

While the property has potential, major improvements are needed before I could recommend it. Based on my experience, travelers should consider other options until service and management standards improve.

The resort itself is great. The Bach was fantastic along with all their pools. One massive downside was the food was not that great. The staff was decent. With how massive the resort it bound to have good and bad staff. Not as family oriented as it may seem. You will have people there that are there to party but again. Massive resort wasn’t a problem for us and our child but just be aware.

The resort is huge. A LOT of walking!! Several pools to choose from. DONT DRINK THE TAP WATER OR EAT ANYTHING WASHED WITH THE TAP WATER (lettuce). Wasn’t impressed with cleanliness of room (mold in shower). They advertise shopping & pharmacy, it’s a small all in one store. Evening restaurants are 1st come 1st served, only elite members can make reservations. Adult entertainment IS NOT ON THIS RESORT-you have to ride a shuttle bus to other hotel. Staff speak VERY LITTLE English. Room service, minibar device & housekeeping was always quick. Drinks were good (ice is filtered water). No music or entertainment at pools.

I’ve been to this resort three times, most recently just three days ago, and overall we had a pleasant stay. I really like this resort—the new look is much improved compared to two years ago, and the staff were friendly and provided good service.

However, the breakfast buffet felt a bit underwhelming this time. Something seemed to be missing, although I can’t quite put my finger on what it was. It was better about 3–4 years ago.

Dining overall was still good, but the meat dishes were quite dry and could use improvement.

That said, for the price we paid, it was reasonable, and we still enjoyed our stay.

Swim up bar was very good, great selection & staff was awesome.
The buffett was great, Stefanie & Valentin were awesome. The grounds looked beautifully maintained. The staff is definitely what makes this resort, extremely nice, caring & very helpful. Staff make you feel like you've known them forever.
If you drink alot of water make sure to grab bottles at the front desk lobby. Our room fridge wasn't always stocked. Last day no coffee & sugar stocked in room.
Excursion Family Boogies, not worth it, just a hustle, rushed excursion, trying to take your money throughout excursion, waste of time, it was booked on the beach of resort so you'd think it would be good. Especially with the amount of money spent to stay there.
Killed 2 little bugs in room, appeared to look like a type of roach, careful with luggage.
Alot of seaweed on the beach, piled, no cleaners in sight. Again, amount paid for resort you'd think it would be round the clock cleaned. Beach & water are were great other then that. There was one day that was all-round great with no seaweed.

Rooms were clean and spacious. Ac worked great! Food and drinks were good. Staff helped with anything we needed. The pool parties are a MUST! We had so much fun. Restaurants were also good. We liked that we had an option to eat at any restaurant every night vs only getting 2-3 restaurants options depending on how many days you stay. Buffet was also good. Plenty of options. We reserved photos with the photographer in the market store at the resort and he was amazing. Wonderful experience. I really recommend this resort it’s a lot of fun. Definitely go and experience the famous themed pool parties and if you just want to relax this resort will also offer that. Beach was beautiful. 10/10 recommend!!! The complex is beautiful and they keep up with the grounds as well. Very beautiful. The energy and vibe of the resort is amazing as well. Pools were great many options. Staff were always available and answered any questions. The staff for entertainment were wonderful as well.
