Room was musty smelling and the room fridge was never restocked, even though we well tipped the housekeeper every day. The room was in disrepair: living room TV had no remote and didn’t work. Closet door needed two hands to open and close. Large section of trim in bathroom missing. I will give the dining and most of the pool service staff a great job, they were awesome! Guess tipping people in person makes all the difference.

This is our second time staying at the resort. The first time we enjoyed it more. We couldn’t get a regular soda anywhere but going to their store to buy it and there was one choice, coke. Some of us can’t drink diet because of allergies to the sweetener. We aren’t much on alcoholic drinks but it was that or water. We were on the front side of the resort and right outside our door all you could smell was sewage. We wanted a king room and got 2 double beds instead. They did do a very nice display in my room, unrequested, for my birthday, which was very nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay but not as much as the first time.

Facility is great (pool, rooms, dining areas, beach, spa, etc) everything is exceptionally clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great variety and quality of food and drinks.
However, programs and activities are performed by amateurs and are boring.

The room was spotless! The staff was absolutely amazing!! Especially those in the restaurants! The resort is very welcoming, with lively and relaxing atmosphere. The food was surprisingly good seeing it’s an all inclusive. I’m already planning my trip back!

The front desk staff Robert was rude and I asked for an upgraded twice and he never looked he just said no. My husband wasn’t happy about his room and he called and they wanted to charge me the double the price. Also they don’t tell you nothing about the hotel nor do they give you a map. You have to ask the staff where things are. Also the food is terrible. The cleaning people come to your room twice a day when the hotel supposed to be full that don’t make sense. I will not recommend this hotel to my enemy. The also stated they was going to send a birthday cake with balloons to the room. Never received it

I am writing to formally lodge a serious complaint regarding the discriminatory treatment I experienced at the beach volleyball court on Jan 23rd and the subsequent failure of your management team to address the issue.

The Incident: During my stay, I participated in the beach volleyball activities organized by the hotel. One of your staff members (the activity coordinator with dreadlock) repeatedly and unfairly picked on me, criticizing my play in a manner that was not applied to any other guests. It was evident that this was not about the rules of the game, but a targeted and biased attitude toward me.

Management’s Failure to Follow Up: What makes this experience even more unacceptable is the lack of accountability from your management team. I reported this specific incident to the management desk on two separate occasions. With the manager named Diamond. Both times, I was promised a formal response and a resolution. However, I have received zero follow-up to date.

This neglect is a clear indication that my concerns—and the issue of discrimination—are not being taken seriously by Riu Palace Macao. Being targeted by staff and then ignored by management has significantly distressed me and ruined the vacation I traveled from Ottawa to enjoy.

This is our third time staying here & we would go back again. The beach is expansive, with lots of palm trees so there's always as much sun or shade as you'd want & lounge chairs are never an issue. The staff are so friendly & accomodating. There is a wonderful variety of delicious food...(I love fish, & there was always a different selection of freshly grilled seafood everyday). Instead of lots of loud music on the beach, you'll relax to the sound of the waves, punctuated by the friendly staff offereng to deliver a cool drink. We love it!

The food was disgusting, barely even edible. The room was infested with ants and other sorts of bugs, unclean, and smelled horribly of mildew regardless of how long we left the door open. All of our clothes now smell horribly of this mildew smell and we’re left damp.

Everything, except Sport Bar (Need more attention), was super amazing; I recommend and I’ll definitely comeback with my family. The Food was 1-A (EXCELLENT) the service very, very friendly, the hotel, his installation and rooms very clean; the other’s Bars very nice, the animation staff very funny, entertaining and friendly. The Disco super 🥰🙏 In short, I was left crazy, delighted and I’ll comeback next summers 🏝️ ☀️

We had travel delays, tried to contact the property and they weren't sure they'd have a room for us, saying we were a no-show. We just were informing them we would be delayed, and the lady on the phone said \"We can't help you with that,\" and nearly hung up. When we arrived, the internet kept dropping us for the first several days, and our key cards kept locking us out of our room. We were quite frankly really exhausted from a busy month of work and just wanted a break, but between flight complications, and the resort not helping us, and fiddly frustrations once we arrived, this was just a messy couple of days getting there and getting situated... Once we got settled in though, we started to enjoy our time, but we were not overly impressed and said we would likely try another resort on a next visit to the DR.

I booked this hotel for my honeymoon and what sold me was the swim up pool. Check in was great however, when we got to our room, we realize that it did not have a swimming pool nor was it the honeymoon suite we booked. When we call down, we were informed that the room was l oversold and someone should have reached out to us prior to arrival, but that never happened. This was an epic fail in a horrible way to start our vacation. Although the people were nice our room had water bugs and roaches.
I’ll never stay here again.

The entire staff was amazing, so friendly and on top of every detail. Check in was the quickest we have ever had. Food was fantastic especially the Elite Restaurant (wow). Swim out room was a must. Where ever we were at the resort a waiter was there asking us what they could get us. Very impressive.

The customer service from the front desk staff was great. What I liked the most is that they made getting to them, checking in, out,and leaving the resort a seamless process. The atmosphere was toned downed during the day and picked up at night but nothing was at sleep disturbing levels. Also if you were looking for a high party atmosphere you could easily join the multiple Riu parties just a short walk at one of there other vacation spots on the property. The Cubano Bar had the best bartenders on the property. Big props to the buffet. They had good food and the servers were so plesant and made every dinning experience feel personal. The slight negative things where minor things like bland drinks at pool bars, and some staff at the sports bar had bad attitudes.

The people were absolutely great every one of them. The food was wonderful with many options. Pedro made our pool time fun. His attention to detail was very impressive.
The room although very clean and comfortable was not that great. The whirlpool looked dirty and took forever to fill because the drain was not working well. Lights burnt out in the shower and other places.
We all have a wonderful time and we are very glad we made the trip. Not your fault but getting there was a pain and waiting for resort shuttle at the airport was very confusing and so so hot.

The staff were very courteous. Our room was fantastic- the best we have had at a RIU resort. The sit down restaurants were outstanding. Loved the beach. The palm trees provided shade for individuals like me who cannot sit in the sun. The resort did not feel crowded like many of the Riu’s we have been to.

I was given the wrong room twice, had to chase down my luggage, and dealt with broken amenities (phone, TV, bathroom light). The shower door was broken and leaking. The food made me sick twice, and staff treatment felt biased—friendly to white guests but dismissive toward Black guests. Feral cats roamed the dining area, even urinating near tables. Sadly, I’ll be leaving early and spent the rest of my stay in bed.

This is a wonderful property, very well kept. Mid to older crowd, staff was great, swim up bar was fun. Excellent bar staff. Great choice of restaurants. Elite Club was well worth it, beautiful views. Even with the loud music right underneath our room, we sat out and watched all of the dancing from our balcony, when we went in the room it was completely quiet. Very sound proof. Beach was perfect, plenty of activities if you want. One of my favorite Riu’s for sure!

If you are planning to book a wedding here DON’T. I am just coming back from my son’s wedding, and the wedding planners were inexperienced, unprofessional, and accommodating. They came to the bride on the day of the wedding as she’s getting ready stating they didn’t have enough tables for all of the guests and wanted her to figure it out. They had no signage direction people where to go for cocktail hour and reception. They did not assign any tables for the brides, family and the grooms family. I could go on and on, but I would just say beware booking this site for a wedding.

Beware! The rooms have roaches!

It’s odd that sites purport this property as five stars. It is an old property that doesn’t appear to have been updated in decades. The showers are old and have worms and roaches coming up through the drain. And there was an awful sewage smell in the rooms.

Depending on which staff member you engaged with, you were treated with kindness or annoyance, which made for a pretty inconsistent over-all service experience.

The only good thing about this location is the spa. The services were great and the therapists were amazing.

Spectacular hotel! I especially loved the hospitality of the staff; they do their best to make you feel welcome. The food was delicious and varied, the beach is beautiful, and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. The entertainment was great too—I couldn't ask for more. I had everything I needed during my stay; I felt like a queen. Thank you to everyone, especially Marcos in the buffet area and Eliezer and Idaury in the entertainment area. I'll be back soon!

The resort was nice, restaurants were pretty okay, pools were great with swim up bar. A lot of different options. Theres an event at the resort every night. Ppl were full of energy. My only complaint would probably be the staff and the people there bothering/hassling you for money. The room me and my partner had was beautiful but on day 3, there was a whole on top of ceiling and peaked so much water the whole day. We had a electrician come up and fix it tho. There were also a lot of waterbugs, the power went put for about 5-10 mins on our last day. It was a lil hectic. I wouldn't be back here. This resort def just gave relaxation vibes. And if i knew i wanted to have more fun and turn up then i wouldve booked riu republica hotel. Also the hotel sets up transportation to and from hotel. But the last day, as we were waiting for out transportation at the set time it didnt come. We had to wait a whole other hour. We spoke to staff and they told us just call a cab.. mind you the cabs cost 49 and up. So we was really irritated with the unprofessionalism. But yea.

Well it was my anniversary and birthday I emailed weeks before to let them know about it only to get there and they had us in a double bed room no decoration like I asked cause I was willing to pay. Went to the front and had to wait another 2hrs before a room was ready not decorated no welcome for the elite club member had to literally go back the next day to remind them we needed the amenities of what we paid for. Staff was wonderful and a huge hotel like this should have there own power grid. Lights kept going on and off all day then stretched into the night.

Some members of the staff were very attentive and courteous, while others were not as responsive. Upon arrival, there was no bellman available to assist with my luggage, which was disappointing. I also experienced multiple issues with my room during my stay, including repeated problems with the Wi-Fi, television, and room safe.

On several occasions, I was asked to come downstairs to resolve issues rather than having someone come to my room to assist, which was inconvenient. At one point, I was locked out of my safe and informed that I would need to wait until 6:00 a.m. for assistance. When I explained that my medication was inside, help was finally provided.

The food at the restaurants was satisfactory, though not exceptional, and the room service meals were unfortunately poor in quality. On a positive note, I thoroughly enjoyed the pool area and met many pleasant guests during my stay.

However, I was very uncomfortable that the room lacked a security latch on the door, especially considering that several hotel staff members entered the room during my stay. This made me feel unsafe and detracted from the overall experience.

We got food poisoning while we were there. The pool with the bar there had a film sitting on top of the water. They came and cleaned are room took our dirty wash clothes and didn’t give new ones. They took our pillow cases and didn’t give us new ones. Food wasn’t good. Some of the staff was rude.

Almost none of the staff spoke English and were rude and unhelpful at times . The WiFi was spotty at best and limited information about activities.
