The place is nice but extremely big everything is a trek. The water park is awesome and pools are extremely nice the rooms are subpar and the food is good just doesn’t change in variety from day to day too much. The most disappointing thing was the night time entertainment for families. If there was anything it didn’t start till 8/830 and normally was just a singer or something. i just wish it was more of an inclusive vibe and fun activities i guess like were use to.

Staff was very friendly, fast, Smith at the reception was very helpful and knew exactly what he was doing, fun shows and parties. The rooms were outdated, pools were a bit dirty, constant shortness of towels by the pool, if you are trying to get new towels after 3pm almost impossible. In the room they provide you only the regular towels, no washcloths. The key cards constantly deactivate . Food was not bad but the eggs for breakfast were terrible wish they could just cook per request, they only do that for omelette with limited variety of sides. Restaurant food was ok, we liked the steak house but the staff was a bit rude and extremely long lines, and / or last minute tell you no more availability after waiting for a while, which was super frustrating. They could improve their Hibachi and Spanish restaurant. Overall we enjoyed our vacation!

Pros :
Pool areas are nice. Drinks are easy to get. Check in and check out easy. Beach is beautiful and well kept.

Cons:
Food and restaurants are not very good and servers not very friendly. Rooms very musty smell and beat up. Toilet ran nonstop. Shower drain loose. Only sheets on the beds with no blankets available. Everything on the property is very spread out and difficult for older people or people struggling to walk far distances. Water park is about a ten minute walk outside the gate and up the road.
Our fourth resort we have been to in DR and our least favorite.

Room was clean, some staff were courteous and some seemed to be bothered by the guests. Food was cold didn't matter which buffet or restaurant. Pool chairs were being reserved by guests towels all day long so me and my husband could not enjoy the pools. Beach area not very clean until tractor showed up during mid day when it was busy. Shows could be upgraded as well.

- beautiful ocean beach

- Palm Beach (stake house) restaurant is the best. Hibachi was also good

- Customer service is worst, we had water leak from the air conditioning, we complained but no one showed up to fix the issue.
- Our flight got delayed, so we missed one night, we arrived there next morning 10 am, but they were not able to provide us room although we already paid and checked in online for the room. When we asked, why we are not assigned to a room? They simply replied, as we didn’t show up, room was assigned to someone else although we’re charged for that night..!
- Food was mediocre at all other restaurants. Although collection of food numbers was good but taste wasn’t great and management was poor, lots of cross contamination
- Food ingredients labeled wrong, which was big issue, we went in group of 13 people, some had food restrictions, it was very difficult to figure out.
- language barrier is another issue, it was struggling to explain any request at the kitchen, or room service.

Recommendations
- Add better food options/ kitchen beside the pools
- Water Splash park, should have food option, such as burgers, pizza etc. it was fun at the park but kids got very hungry and there are not facilities for food other than drinks.

The first thing dusted out to me when I got there is the way the place look it was beautiful the view. The atmosphere was amazing. Service was great. The workers were great. The room was great. Everything about this hotel was amazing. I could truly stay. I had an awesome time the bartenders food servers director place was amazing. I would highly recommend. I would definitely go again. It was clean. It was beautiful. It was definitely something out out of a book.

The worse food I ever had in my life!!! The cooks don’t wash they hands and it looked like slop!!! My boyfriend and I starved for days until we got to the airport and ate Pizza Hut. The rooms was dirty no garbage bags in garbage!! The resort is beautiful but the hotel needs to do better with all the money we paid to stay there

Overall, my stay at the hotel was very pleasant. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, the food was excellent, the pools were spotless, the beach was beautiful, and the gardens were well cared for. Unfortunately, the room did not meet the same standard. It showed signs of poor maintenance, had a damp odor, visible mold in the shower corners, a loose toilet seat, and a leaking sink that required placing a towel on the floor. Aside from the room maintenance issues, everything else was excellent.

It’s just not updated. The rooms are old, and the outlets are all loose, plus not properly placed. the buffet restaurant has the worst food (not the snack bar), but the other restaurants were fantastic.
The staff couldn’t get a higher score because there is no higher score. I love them all, and they are wonderful. Every single person working there is a credit to your franchise. If I came here in 2005, I’d love it, but n 2025 it just isn’t up to par with other resorts on the island.

Pros:
The beach was very nice and well maintained. The resort offered plenty of activities, which were fun and kept the whole family entertained. If you enjoy staying busy and spending most of your time outdoors, this was the best part of the stay.

Cons:
The resort is very old and clearly outdated. The bathroom cabinets were in poor condition and appeared to be falling apart. The safe deposit box in the room did not work due to missing batteries. Housekeeping was inconsistent and did not properly clean or replace the sheets after room service, which was disappointing and concerning.

Additionally, several facilities and pool areas had missing or broken tiles, which felt unsafe and could easily be a liability if someone were to get cut or injured.

Overall:
For the amount of money we paid, this resort was not worth the cost. While the beach and activities were enjoyable, the lack of maintenance, cleanliness issues, and safety concerns significantly took away from the experience. Major updates and better upkeep are needed to justify the price.

We have stayed at lots of Riu hotels all around the world because we like the all inclusive service and pools. The room was clean, pool hours were more limited, the equipment in the gym is broken and have been for years. The food was not as good as most other Riu hotels. The changing room doors by the pools are on backwards so everyone can see in but you can't see out. The doors dont close anyway. We noticed a downward trend in the RIU hotels in punta cana since we started going there. It seems they are not repairing or maintaining anything. The hotel staff were nice and helpful.

Las comidas aunque sean en los restaurantes especializados son buffet, en sabor es ok pero algunas estaban fria, cuando te sentabas a comer en el salon principal habian moscas y si te sentabas afuera eran las palomas. En los pasillos por las mañanas el personal de housekeeping literal gritaban y se escuchaban en el cuarto. Los cuartos necesitan mantenimiento el aire acondicionado la primera noche no funciono. El drenaje de la ducha estaba tapado lo dijimos y siguio igual bajando bien lento. La ultima noche se fue la luz a las 3 de la madrugada y al parecer no tienen generador porque estuvo media hora sin luz luego volvio y se fue. Para que lo tengan en cuenta si dependen de maquina C-PAP para dormir. El personal del hotel Habian personal amable y otros para nada amables. Los shows solo una noche hubo un buen show.

I thought housekeeping was very clean. I notice a big water bug roach on the hallway floors. I put a towel under room 3009 front door to keep any bugs out. Maybe weather striping under door will help. Room was cleaned every day. Resort personnel was always helpful, good food, good choices. Planning our next year vacation with my 19 and 22 years for the same week next year. They loved the Riu party and activities. Bars and pools is the reason, they wanted to come. The Riu party was a big suprise. I was concerned that the Disco had no security staff inside on Saturday night 12/20/25. Overall, the price was good for the money and is the main reason we are coming back next year. Thanks to your staff

The last room was not too humid, but the bathroom had a septic fowl smell every day, the shower door could not be open completely to avoid the water from coming out, my husband had to kill a roach and the towel rack was falling out of the wall.

This was by far one of the worst all-inclusive resort experiences I’ve ever had. On Monday between 11:00am–12:30pm, every restaurant was closed, leaving guests with nowhere to eat. We went to Chili’s at 7:36pm and were told they were done taking people, despite posted hours of 6:00pm–9:00pm. Being turned away from food at an all-inclusive resort is unacceptable.

The amenities were just as bad. All pools close at 7:00pm, which is extremely early for a vacation resort. Our room had constant issues: the shower drained painfully slow, the toilet ran all day, every day, the drawers were broken with only one that opened properly, and there was rust around nearly every light fixture. The room toiletries were bare minimum — only hand soap and body wash, no shampoo, conditioner, or lotion. Shockingly, there were no washcloths provided at all.

The most disturbing issue of all was seeing cats walking freely through the buffet dining areas. This is a major sanitation and health concern and completely unacceptable for any food service establishment, let alone a resort.

RIU Bambu is rundown, poorly managed, and nowhere near the standard advertised. This resort needs serious upgrades, better staffing, and improved hygiene practices. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere unless you want constant frustration and disappointment on your vacation.

This was my first time in Punta Cana I’ve been to other cities in DR like puerto plata, Santiago, Santo Domingo, Las Terrenas and honestly Punta Cana was just too touristy for my liking. The grounds were nice it was on the beach they had a lot of pools but they lacked cleanliness. Which wasn’t issues on the resorts part but the guest. There were always chunks of lime in the pool by the pool bar I felt like there weren’t enough seats at the beach and sometimes the pillows and towels smelled like sweat. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my friends or family because I know there are better places to stay on the island where you can actually experience DR through the locals and not work the tourist!

Very few people spoke English so very little communication and couldn’t get direct info about activities and parties. Hard to get directions
Only one restaurant was open for breakfast so not much variety
Dinner started too late so long time between lunch and dinner.
Needs more activities at poolside to keep guest entertained. Was quite boring at times
Too many sales people at the beach, was not relaxing at all when being disturbed to buy things.
I requested birthday decorations in ny room and it was never put up. However when I told front desk, they did try to make it up with a gift. That was nice.
Front gate refused to let my driver in to pick me up. I had to speak to 3 different staff members to get the gate open which almost made me late for my flight.
Over, I have no need or desire to come back. This was my second time at a riu resort, but it confirmed I don’t like it.

I had stated at RIU in Panama City Panama, and that was beautiful well maintained a very impressive from the moment I stepped in that hotel this hotel was beautiful from the outside, but not at the same standards as the RU in Panama this resort had broken tiles in my shower area, rusty light fixtures. The door won’t open or closed properly. The air conditioner was constantly going. It did not turn on and off even if you adjusted the temperature. they had switched me from one room to the other because of the broken tile in the bathroom, even though it was on the wall was disappointing walking through the resort I noticed all the light fixtures on the wall or hanging in that properly, put on just did not feel like I was being pampered like I would’ve thought going to an RIU.

The room was ok. Needs to be updated but it was good enough for sleeping and relaxing. The AC only worked one day of the 4 I stayed. I didn’t make a scene about it because it was great weather but if this was the summer it would have been a terrible experience. The food was really good 4 out 5 stars. The hotel cleanliness was really good and had lots amenities and fun things to do. The staff was friendly most of the time. But your front desk is a disaster. It took me an hour to check in and then on top of that the second person in the room came the next day and security would not let them in. It took over an hour for them to get access to the hotel even thou they were on the room that was already paid for. Need to fixed your entire check in process and efficiency. You may also want to have staff do their job and not just walk around when you have a long wait for check in’s. Very disappointed with that entire process.

The property itself is okay, but the weather and the beach are absolutely phenomenal. The hotel has three pools, a small gym that gets crowded quickly, and a water park the kids really enjoyed. The beach is within walking distance, which is a big plus. The amenities overall are good, and the kids’ club (for ages 5–10) offers great activities to keep children entertained.

However, the bar and dining options need a lot of improvement. The food quality feels similar to a basic cruise-ship buffet—plenty of choices but not many that feel healthy or particularly good. There is only one à la carte restaurant, the steakhouse, which is actually quite good, but you need to arrive before 6 p.m. because they reach their nightly capacity fast. The other themed restaurants (Spanish, Italian, and Hibachi) range from poor to just decent.

As for the rooms, we had to switch on the first night. We originally booked a double room for a family of four (two adults and two young children), but we were given a king bed with an uncomfortable sofa bed. We were moved to a double room, but both the room and the beds were very small. The cleanliness was disappointing— we even found a large roach in the room, which was pretty nasty. They sprayed the room afterward, and we didn’t see any more, but it definitely affected our impression. The AC also turns off around 4 a.m., making the room uncomfortably. On a positive note, the staff is friendly and genuinely tries to ensure guests enjoy their stay.

Riu Bambu definitely knows how to treat its guests right! The service is good it almost feels like they’re trying to adopt you. Every staff member I met was friendly, quick, and genuinely helpful — major points there.

The food? Honestly, pretty good! Plenty of tasty options with 6 restaurants for dinner. Now, the dessert table at Colonial… let’s just say it’s not exactly the star of the show. Pineapple & watermelon are not so sweet.

But the night entertainment? Fun, lively, and full of energy. Perfect way to end the day — you’ll catch yourself dancing even if you swore you wouldn’t.

Overall, Riu Bambu delivers a super enjoyable stay with a good service, delicious meals, and upbeat nights. Just give make it a point to serve quality fruit desserts next time and we’re golden. 😄

El staff de los comedores y entretenimiento un lujo, super amables y bien predispuestos. Las piscinas muy buenas, al igual que el parque acuático (más pequeño de lo que me imaginaba). La comida estuvo bien, variedad y abundancia. Me gustó que tengan en cuenta a los niños a la hora de cocinar (mi bebé de 7 meses tenía varias opciones para comer generalmente).

Sin embargo, la habitación no estuvo bien: los muebles rotos, las lámparas torcidas y oxidadas. Además, me robaron dólares y mis tarjetas de crédito y débito dentro de la habitación, así que eso fue muy decepcionante.

Rooms and the Amenities need some serious work. I could hardly even charge my phone in the room without using an object to hold my charger in place. Also the rooms need a make over. The hygiene in the buffet area should be seriously improved on as people can get serious food poison from the buffet area. Its were the food os searved it shoild be really neat and free from insects like cockroaches and excess flies. The ocean side was fantastic though.

Room was to cold. Asked several times to remove alcohol from the room, they never removed.

Staff are terrible. Little to no service. The “Restaurants” are just glorified private buffets, and often the same sushi was in the main buffet. Beach is amazing, pools are great, family rooms are large and comfortable.
