Terrible maintenance. Terrible administration. Service was very poor. Rooms full of mold and no AC. Had to switch rooms TWICE due to very poor maintenance and AC not properly working. Sheets stained. Towels smelled like vomit. Towels stained with Clorox. Overall the hotel is in no condition to rent the rooms. They say January of next year they are renewing and that’s why the services are how they are. That’s a poor excuse because that hotel banks more than $1M per week if not more. Will not be going back to that hotel.

When we got in our room none of the electrical outlets were working, the telephone and the safe was not working either we made a repair order and it was never fix. The staff were really friendly and nice no complaints over that. Also the pool was in terrible condition.

The room was really beat up, the beds were extremely old, shower grout dirty. Food was too limited on a schedule, the restaurants that were not buffet would not allow reservations and made it really hard to eat at a seated table. The outdoors were beautiful and pool. I had a family room and 3 other rooms so I was able to see more than one layout.

Vinimos a vacacionar y lamentablemente nos encontramos con que las distancias eran largas para todo. Utilizamos las piscina cerca del Rest. OLE y buscar y entregar toallas era un suplicio. No fue buena impresión ver moscas en el buffet del Colonial el primer día, aunque los desayunos fueron variados y los almuerzos y comidas fueron en otros restaurantes buenos. Los empleados son muy amables y siempre dispuestos a mejorar la estadía 100%.

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel and would not recommend it, especially for families with young children. From the start, our room was far from the main areas (about a 15-minute walk to the beach, pool, and reception), which made everything very inconvenient.
The room itself was in poor condition and had a strong musty smell. The towels also smelled damp and unclean. We even found a dead cockroach on the floor upon arrival. I immediately requested a closer room because I was traveling with a small child, but staff were unhelpful and dismissive, often just handing me keys and telling me to go look at rooms myself. Many rooms were worse, with broken shower heads, broken bathroom glass, and other maintenance issues.
There were no buggies or transport around the resort, making it extremely difficult to move around, especially in the heat. Basic tasks like changing my child’s diaper required long walks back to the room. Staff were often rude, unhelpful, and gave attitude when asked for assistance.
After three days and multiple complaints, and only after my husband intervened, we were finally moved to a closer building. This happened on my son’s 5th birthday, which was very upsetting as most of the day was spent packing and moving rooms with no help provided.
Even in the new room, issues continued, including a clogged shower drain, non-working phone, and minibar items that were never replaced. Communication was also a major issue as no staff spoke english.

I had a great time at the Riu Bambu and thought the resort was beautiful. The food was decent (7/10) but could be hit or miss depending on the restaurant, and some dining options closed earlier than expected. My room was very far from the main resort area, and I think transportation should be available for guests staying farther out. The room was also extremely cold, the thermostat was difficult to use, and there wasn’t much air circulation, so I would avoid a lower-level room if possible.

One downside was the Disco Pacha club, which was quite far from the resort and had a strong unpleasant odor, so I ended up leaving early.

A word of caution: be careful with the people on the beach offering photos with monkeys and other animals. They put the animals on me and started taking pictures with my phone, then tried to charge far more than expected. Agree on a price beforehand if you choose to participate.

Despite a few issues, I enjoyed my stay and would rate my overall experience an 8.5/10.

Overall our stay was good. The main problem was the beach which was full of seaweed for 5 days of our stay. Only the 1st day was possible to enjoy the beach. The remaining 5 days was pretty much impossible to enjoy the water or the sand.
I didn't see much effort from the hotel to clean the sand.

Room was okay kinda small and lights only worked if the room key was in the box that activated electricity throughout the room. Wall plugs did not work in the room except but one. Alcohol was available but it was in a very inconvenient spot as well as the mini fridge. Room service was very quick and sheets seemed not to be switched out or not cleaned very well. Also seemed like since i spoke Spanish, employees seem to not care if i was being treated with kindness and respect.

Broken shower door and patio door in our first room (we had to change because it was a family room that was directly across from the ‘party riu’ section where they had booming music all night—great for party goers, not so much for kids. Broken safe and dodgy air conditioning in the second room. Told someone would come fix the safe at 9, no one showed, said they’d come between 12-1, no one showed, said we could change rooms again so packed up yet again only to have someone finally show up and fix it leaving us to unpack all over again. Coffee/juice machines were usually out and we don’t drink alcohol much (I’m 19 months pregnant) so that wasn’t great. Staff weren't very helpful or all that nice other than a select few. Food was decent, beach was covered in seaweed, pools were alright, kiddie pool was not maintained all that well. Only one spot to get towels and you had to use towel keys to get them which would be okay except the resort is very spaced out so it’s a ton of walking. Also only 1 atm machine that is about a 15-20 min walk from the resort. Just unfortunate, but we made it work.

Aside from all of the negative and positive reviews, my boyfriend and I had a very great time. Food was great, drinks, pool, amenities, etc! The people were so nice, but I will say the women were not super nice. The only downside I will say is one of the cleaning ladies took my boyfriend’s charger. (yes we stripped that room to make sure we didn’t misplace it). I loved the different restaurants aside from the buffet! I would definitely rebook this resort!

The resort itself was clean, the beach was nice, and overall our trip was good. The buffets were not great, I’d recommend only sticking with the à la carte restaurants for dinner, the Chilli’s one especially. One of our friends got extremely sick and was out for an entire day which we are unsure what from. Aside from the food, the resort staff were quite ignorant and rude. Even though this resort is an “all inclusive” the staff expect tips for LITERALLY everything. If you don’t have money in your hand they will not bat an eye at you. We got attitude from every single person we spoke to, even though we were very kind to them. Our friends got yelled at by resort workers for asking for multiple drinks, they really didn’t like making more than 2 drinks at a time. One night we got locked out of our safe and the staff refused to help us get it open for almost 24 hours, they did not provide any reassurance or assistance. We had to beg them to call the maintenance guy to come unlock it. The exact same thing happened to our friends. The RIU parties were great but we had terrible interactions with the staff again and the security was not controlling the crowd well at all. I really wish we had a better experience with the staff. This ultimately made us decide we will never be returning. I would recommend booking some excursions and going off resort to get away from it for a bit like we did. If you’re considering booking, prepare yourself to become used to the ignorance here.

The property was below average needing up dates. When they are updating they aren't covering furniture so there's paint on everything including the glasses and couches. There's a lot of mold in the rooms with a heavy smell. The outside of the room is nice but the restrooms are not up to par. The app.was not working properly. They need more activities. Some of the staff had poor attitudes. They do not engage. The pool was filled with deas bugs and debris. No one cleaned the pools during the day. There are wild dogs on the property that chased a family on their morning walk at the beach. The seaweed on the beach is about a 1 foot tall. You're constantly bothered by vendors on the beach while napping. The lock on the door had no screws and the balcony door was broken. Mold behind the tv in the room. And the twin bed couch cushions were filled with dust and mold. The bacon half cooked.

The entertainment crew were fantastic. The servers in the restaurants were friendly and sing to us. They would go beyond the service of making sure we had drinks and were always cleaning our table. We were greeted with flowers in the morning at our table it was wonderful. The front desk was no help we checked I asked for the information of events and parties I just asked to download and app and figure it out. The app had barely information. The guests at the hor were awesome and friendly it felt safe among strangers the vibe was incredible. It was from the guests who filled me in on what was happening and they got it from the entertainment staff. Over all excellent totally recommend it. House keepers are great if you needed anything right away no problems. It was great !

3/5 Stars - Great party and pools, but terrible rooms and food
RIU Bambu is definitely a party hotel with a lot of good and bad. On the positive side, the \"RIU Party\" location was a great part of the stay and very entertaining. The pools are immaculate, the beach is nice, and the water park was cute.
On the negative side, the rooms offer zero privacy because the shower is inside the bedroom, and there is no ventilation. Food is completely bland and repetitive, and you have to fetch your own drinks by the pool. Worst of all, the male employees are always making passes at every woman, which makes for a very uncomfortable environment. Great for fun, bad for room comfort and professional service.

Facility; Went with a large group and almost everyone complained about the rooms. If it wasn’t the A/C it was the beds, cleanliness, and on the last day saw roaches, and just bad building maintenance. Our shower had a sharp drain cover that I was afraid was going to cut our foot. Lastly I tried to get someone to come look at the A/C for 3 out of 4 of the days, it was cool day 1 but the rest of the time it leaked water from the filter area and didn’t cool well. No one ever came to looks at it after several visits to reception and email conversation.

Poor staff; acted like you were bugging them when you asked for anything. Drinks, directions, buffet waiters, reception, They talk to each other and laughed with each other more than they acknowledged guest.

Buffet and food; Breakfast was identical everyday. By the last day I just couldn’t eat their food anymore. I’m just gonna leave it at that. They limit the amount of guest at the dinner restaurants so if you are not there early they send you away. Ex Mexican, Steak, Hibachi, anything but buffet.

Shows weren't good at all. Seen better shows at other resorts and cruise ships.

Swim up bar pool had nasty water. All the pools water was incredibly hot to the point of not refreshing. Had to go to the ocean.

I guess you can say the beach is the reason people go to Punta Cana cause that’s the only part we enjoyed.

Just bad, do better RIU! HARD PASS FOR ME.

Nice grounds and pools. Loud lobby and buffet at colonial. They should invest in acoustic panel. We couldn't always hear the workers talking to us. Riu is known for party: swim up bar, disco or Riu party place. Emotions were high from lunch to late at night for lots of guests, not the best place to relax. We speak some Spanish, but we noticed that some workers at the online check in and some of the cleaning crew didn't engage in conversations. We had a problem with our toilet - it didn't flush at all. We reported it within the first hour (4 pm) of being in our room. We went three times to the reception before they finally got a new room (no upgrade) at 8:30. The next day we received an apology letter and two dollorama keychain. We expected more from a big chain like RIU. We will not return to any RIU.

Our first time in Dominican Republic and Riu did not disappoint. Their entertainment and activities throughout the day is very enjoyable. Staff are amazing and welcoming! Food is average, tho it seems to be the same most days its not bad at all.
Pools and beach is one of the best we’ve had.
Will definitely come back and recommend to anyone specially if first timers not bad for a good price. :)

Our experience was just ok. We were honestly quite disappointed. Rooms were dirty, had an odd smell and we were constantly locked out of our room due to a broken door lock battery. For starters we were never greeted when we arrived every other resort i have stayed at including other Riu properties i have been greeted and welcome upon arrival! First day there my moms room was flooded with water in the evening when we returned to yer room and when i tried calling the front none phone service was not working so i had to run to the front to let them know when i spoke to the gentleman he replied with if you don’t like the room i can see what i can do but and when he said that i took it as he thought we were just trying to change rooms just because and that was not the case so i tgen told him that wasn’t the case so he although still uncomfortable with me sent someone and then when they saw we were not lying he says ohh yea your right! I felt offended by the response! Well they changed her room! Food is trash in the buffets! I was approached one night by I believe it was some sort of a supervisor well dressed llady very polite when she approached and said hi how is your stay so far i said a few good things but when i said the negative her attitude changed when i told her there was blood on the sheets in my daughter room and ger response to me was not an apology of any sort but she said did they change them as in ok problem fixed with not one apology also never given our towel cards during checkin gad to go to get those at desk bext day! Listen they cater to the adult Riu parties 4 days a week and forget about the people with kids! Entertainment trash!

The room was cleaned when we wanted, which was good but the phones in the room was not working which was a bummer, we had to go down to the reception when we needed something. Also how are there not sanitary napkins in the washroom or readily available for use. I was unfortunate to have my period come unexpectedly and tried to get pads from the reception but they were charging me $38 USD for 8 pads which is ridiculously expensive. It was unbelievable, and I couldn’t believe my ears. Aside from that awful experience the food was ok. The staff were nice and friendly. I will also suggest that they have wash hand basins in the common areas as most of the times we wanted to wash our hands after meal but couldn’t we only could go back to the room to wash hands.

We did have an issue with shower drainage and they did accommodate us to a new room.

Our experience at the resort was disappointing overall. Some staff members, particularly at the front desk and in the restaurant, were rude and unhelpful, though not all of them, there were a few who were polite. Unfortunately, the food quality was poor, and several people in our group became ill. On a positive note, the cleaning staff member assigned to us was very kind and provided excellent service, which we appreciated.

I never leave reviews but this hotel was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel bed had mold allll over the mattress, the toilet was not cleaned nor flushed when I arrived to my room, good thing I had my own cleansing wipes, the food was horrible, all soda in both bottles and from the machine was flat. The staff did not greet us, they had attitudes about asking for beverages while sitting in the restaurants. The only nice thing was the beach and swim up pools. I left off of the resort to eat and explore, and everyone off of the resort was super nice and accommodating.
