Our family of five, including two young children, cut our stay short by two days booking emergent flights home due to serious safety, cleanliness, and service issues. During our stay, we encountered many cockroaches in 2 different guest rooms, as well as in hallways and stairwells. Our 4-year-old found a large cockroach in the bathroom late at night, leaving her extremely upset and prompting us to immediately book an early flight home. We had 4 different rooms during our stay. The most alarming incident occurred at the children's waterpark, where a light pole fell into the play area while children were present. The lifeguard appeared to be asleep, the area remained open, and no visible inspection or safety response took place. Additional issues included a room with a sliding door that would not lock, a leaking refrigerator, mold on pillows, cracked walls, and an overall lack of maintenance. The buffet repeatedly ran out of food, plates, and bowls, and our dinner reservation could not be honored because resort staff provided incorrect reservation information. Multiple attempts to speak with management were unsuccessful. Staff also refused to provide complaint contact information unless we signed documents we were uncomfortable signing. We incurred significant additional expenses by leaving early. This was the absolute worst experience our family has ever had. We do not recommend this property. We reached out to Expedia multiple times. The images on Expedia DO NOT match.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend fue una experiencia inolvidable. Aun y cuando es principalmente para vacacionar con niños, el ambiente es muy familiar y ameno. La habitacion tenia una vista maravillosa, muy limpia y acogedora. El personal del hotel muy amable, profesional y dispuestos a ayudar ante cualquier situacion que se presentara. The front desk staff was excellent, room service was amazing, concierge service was great as well! A lot of great entertainment and great quality food options.

We really liked this place but there a few things they can improve upon.

1) Customer service at the bar, snacks areas and drinks areas. They were not the most pleasant people, they looked miserable as if they were doing you a favor when you were asking them for drinks or snacks. They are dealing with customers directly and should be trained to be a bit more pleasant and courteous. This makes the whole experience much better.

2) Rooms were great but could use some updating, thicker linens and perhaps a nicer TV. They should provide queens beds instead of double.

3) Bathroom caulking needs to be maintained, shower water was escaping into the toilet section due to holes in caulking in the shower, creating mold in various areas.

4) AC issues. The AC is throttled by the resort which in my opinion is not ok considering some folks like their rooms cooler than the resorts threshold. We had a hard time sleeping due to hot temperatures.

Unfortunately, this was the worst resort experience we’ve had in the Dominican Republic.

On our first night, we found roaches in the bathroom. Unfortunately, we continued seeing roaches in the room throughout our entire stay, making it uncomfortable to relax or sleep. We kept all of our luggage closed and secured to avoid bringing anything home with us.

The shower was clogged upon arrival, though maintenance did fix it the next day after we reported it. The room was spacious enough for our family of five, which was a positive. However, the resort does not provide washcloths, and we often had to request clean towels because housekeeping did not service the room until late afternoon.

The biggest issue occurred on our third day when an outlet sparked while charging a phone, causing the entire room to lose power for about 30 minutes. After power returned, none of the outlets worked for the remainder of our stay. We were told the issue would be fixed, but it never was before our departure. Thankfully, family members staying elsewhere on the property allowed us to charge our devices in their room.

The air conditioning also struggled to keep the room cool. The food was okay, and we were able to secure two restaurant reservations during our four-night stay.

The staff were friendly, and our children enjoyed the pool and water park, which were the highlights of the trip.

Joelin de recepción nos atendió muy amable y nos ayudó a tener la habitación más temprano y con vista a la piscina. Rocio del personal de limpieza fue muy amable y diligente en la limpieza. Cristina nos ayudó con la reservación de restaurantes y el show de Onairo que nos encantó a todos. Todo el personal de los trencitos muy amables incluyendo a Leonardo que en una ocasión nos asistió. En fin todo el personal muy amables, facilidades, comida, tragos (margaritas y mojitos 😋) y actividades en general excelentes.Me encantó que podíamos recorrer todos los demás hoteles de Bahía Príncipe. The entire resort was amazing. Lots of amenities and activities that kept us busy and entertained all day. Our concierge Eduardo was so awesome. He gave us a tour, showed us all the good stuff, checked in on us, and even helped get us where we needed to be for some excursions. When booking restaurants Nomad is an absolute must! Best food on the resort and staff was so much fun.

The hotel has been managed by World of Hyatt for a few months now. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in the Turquoise in 2019 and in the Fantasia with our children in 2021 under the previous management. They offered a spectacular light show in the castle area, projecting countless images and graphics, which the children enjoyed and hoped to see again, but it's no longer offered. They also still list the Garden Circus restaurant as one of their restaurants, which used to be one of the best, but it's no longer there. They now charge extra for any steak at their restaurants, which used to be included. This was my last time at this resort. I was never able to get a reservation at the Brazilian Rodisio restaurant during my last two stays; it's always full, as they give preference to certain guests to facilitate their bookings. They also charge $25 for entry to the nightclub, something they didn't do under the previous management. We also had to change rooms on the first day because they assigned us one where the air conditioning didn't work, the toilet water was overflowing onto the floor, the ceiling fan didn't work, the sofa bed was very uncomfortable, and they even gave us toothpaste that had expired in 2018. There were also two days when there was no ice cream for the children at the pool bars. This hotel was our favorite from the first time we visited. Many things has change! Even the employees are disappointed with the new administration!

Eviten el Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana – Paquete Explore Legend

Rara vez dejo reseñas negativas, pero después de pasar una semana completa en el Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana con el paquete “Explore Legend”, siento la obligación de advertir a otros viajeros.

Desde nuestra llegada hasta el día de salida, la experiencia fue decepcionante.

La habitación estaba en malas condiciones. Tenía un fuerte olor a humedad, encontramos cucarachas, la ducha estaba deteriorada y prácticamente desarmándose, el aire acondicionado apenas funcionaba y el mini refrigerador nunca enfrió las bebidas correctamente. Para empeorar las cosas, las camas eran extremadamente incómodas y fue difícil descansar bien durante toda la semana.

El resort en general se siente viejo y mal mantenido. Las piscinas y áreas comunes necesitan una renovación urgente. Las fotos promocionales hacen que el lugar luzca mucho mejor de lo que realmente es.

Las bebidas fueron de las peores que he probado en un hotel todo incluido. En todos los bares los tragos estaban mal preparados, con alcohol de muy baja calidad y servidos sin consistencia. La cerveza parecía aguada y tenía un sabor terrible. Si querías marcas reconocidas como Corona o Heineken, estaban disponibles, pero pagando un costo adicional. También ofrecían botellas de licor premium a precios exageradamente altos.

Lo más frustrante fue el constante intento de venderte extras. Agua de coco: cargo adicional. Bebidas servidas en piña natural: cargo adicional.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Bahia Principe Explore Legend and would definitely recommend it, especially for families with children. The resort is beautiful, the pools and activities are fantastic, and there is always something fun happening for the kids. The entertainment team does a great job creating a fun and family-friendly atmosphere.

The only areas that could use improvement are the food and room service. While there were plenty of dining options, the overall food quality did not quite meet our expectations. In addition, whenever we needed extra water or fresh towels, we usually had to call room service two or three times before the request was fulfilled.

Despite those minor inconveniences, we had a great vacation and made wonderful family memories. If you’re traveling with kids, this resort is an excellent choice thanks to the activities, entertainment, and overall atmosphere.

We’ve been traveling to DR frequently over the past 13 years, stayed at many resorts and can certainly compare. Unfortunately, it was not a good stay, the place itself is very very outdated, we changed the room 3 times, and they are all the same, very due for very serious renovation, basic stuff like toilets don’t flush, or flashes with boiling hot water, shower ether cold or scalding hot, the tile work in bathrooms gave me the impression that we are in Afghanistan, doors to balcony don’t close, synthetic bedding, pillows smell, remote control doesn’t work, air in the room moldy, little fridge broken, very hard to reach someone over the phone to fix the issues. Water in the pools were cloudy. Also, if you have a child over 13 years old be prepared to pay extra $320 per child, which is not listed or specified on Expedia. Also, to get to the ocean is quite a long walk. At the beach be prepared to see many many random sellers. Hard to understand how this place is rated so high. Writing in hope that management will address the issues, because many of them are not acceptable, and for other people to know what awaits them.

Ll The Worst Hotel Experience I Have Ever Had

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so terrible that I feel obligated to warn other travelers.

From the moment we arrived, everything went wrong. We were assigned a room with a horrible odor and an air conditioning system that barely worked. The room was uncomfortable, hot, and impossible to enjoy. We reported the issue immediately and were moved to another room, only to find ourselves dealing with similar problems again. Despite multiple complaints and requests for assistance, the hotel never provided a real solution.

The lack of concern from management was shocking. Instead of taking responsibility and making things right, we were repeatedly given excuses and empty promises. We spent a significant portion of our vacation dealing with problems that should have been resolved immediately.

The food was equally disappointing. The quality was poor, the selection was limited, and many meals were simply not enjoyable. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into a frustrating and exhausting experience.

The overall condition of the hotel did not match the expectations set by the advertisements or the price paid. Cleanliness, comfort, customer service, and food quality were all far below acceptable standards. The most frustrating part was feeling completely ignored when trying to get help.

The situation became so unbearable that we decided to leave before the end of our stay. We paid for a vacation

We stayed for 5 nights with our 6yo and 4.5yo.
The good:
- We loved the main pool. It wasn't too busy, we were able to get chairs each day under an umbrella without too much worry. The pool had a good sized shallow end, and a slow gradual slope to about 4ft in total depth. Was perfect for the kids.
- The water park was also a big hit with the kids. There were enough slides of different lengths and sizes that it kept the kids entertained for a good 1-2 hours each day.
- The ladies that greeted us at the buffet were so friendly with us and our two kids, they were fantastic.

The bad:
- For the most part, we did not feel welcome here at all. In the Dominican in general and the resort. Most of the guests (maybe the time of the year) were native Spanish speakers, and they were treated noticeably better than anyone who wasn't fluent. We tipped constantly and spoke Spanish as much as possible with greetings, ordering food and drink, getting directions etc. My Spanish is limited, and I'd start every conversation in Spanish until I hit my limit then asked to switch to English. The effort to speak Spanish did not pay off at all, most of the staff only seemed annoyed by our presence, especially the bartenders.
- The food was mediocre at best. Our kids had a hard time finding anything they liked.
- The entertainers at the main pool only spoke Spanish. Our kids wanted to join in on some of the games/activities, but hesitated due to us not having a clue what was going on.

We’ve been to Punta Cana 4 times. This was the worse. I chose this place based on reviews for my daughter. Only reason I gave it two stars was because of the staff we met on our third night there. If it weren’t for them: Pablo ( manager at the Gourmet and Italian restaurant) Giovanny, Yermmy and Yoasria who made sure we felt welcomed and really saved the experience I would’ve wanted to leave zero stars. They deserve to be working at a better place. They are too good for this place. They are the only good thing about this place. There is so much staff here that is rude, just stands around and gossips (I speak Spanish so I could hear) and they talk about the guest. They don’t help. It is all inclusive but things were all an up charge. You can get better resorts that are really all inclusive. Catalonia will be were I’ll go back to. Really wish I didn’t go here. When I and another family tried to share our feedback the man in the front simply said “here’s your ticket to leave”. Could careless. I loved the DR so much I even brought Dodgers stuff to gift staff because I know how much they love baseball. And it was so hard to find people that I even connected with besides the 4 mentioned. I ended coming back with most of the stuff we had bought.

We really love the food, it was so tasty and delicious but not expected to see the cockroaches in the room and a moldy Odor coming from the room, we asked for deep cleaning but they didn’t want to do it, and another thing I feel people need to know it’s not on the beach, 10 minutes needed to walk, they have a train but in the morning always full, we are not going back to this resort

The staff were all extremely helpful and polite - speaking a little Spanish can really help, but just be a little patient if you don't. We recommend "checking-in" ASAP on the Bahia Principe app (up to 10 days before your arrival) and do your best to make your dinner reservations ahead of time. You'll get one special restaurant dinner for each night of your stay. Our order of preference for the restaurants were: 1) Brazilian steakhouse (Rodizio), 2) Flame steakhouse, 3) Le Gormet, 4) Italian/Paridiso 5) Mexican/Tequila, and 6) Oneiro Dinner show food - show was great, food was meh.

The buffet worked for us - we figured out our rhythm. Breakfast buffet eggs looked questionable, but they have at least 2 omelet/egg stations where a chef cooks your eggs to order, and they were excellent. There is also a smoothie chef in the middle of the buffet, and we used that every day as well. For lunches, they have a chef cooking sandwich steaks - very good!. We went to lunch every other day, and the other half of the days, we just grabbed pizza and sandwiches at the Snack Bar by the water slides.

The pool was absolutely amazing, and lots of entertainment going on all day. We brought Yeti 20oz tumblers for drink refills and they were awesome. Rooms were fine - not spending too much time there anyway. We liked to revisit the room after breakfast before the pool - put the Dreaming sign up so they don't clean the room at the worst moment, and then put up the Exploring one out after.

I recently stayed at Bahia Principe Explore Legend (Fantasia) in Punta Cana. The resort was clean, well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The castle area is beautiful and really stands out as one of the nicest features of the property.

The nightly entertainment was enjoyable, but it was the same show every night and rarely started at the advertised time. The highlight of the trip was the Oneiro show, which was absolutely breathtaking. The performers and production were incredible. Unfortunately, the food served during the show, like much of the food at the resort, was disappointing.

My biggest complaint is the lack of authentic Dominican food. When I visit the Dominican Republic, I want to experience the local culture and cuisine, but the menus seemed geared more toward European tastes. Several staff members mentioned that things have changed since Hyatt took over, including the dining options, and the food simply wasn’t what I expected from a resort in the DR.

Overall, the resort has beautiful grounds, excellent staff, and some great entertainment, but the food kept it from being a great experience. I’d rate it as average rather than exceptional.

Lot of activities for kids like castle light show, Dance party, Face painting etc. Food is really good and have a good vegetarian option. T Kids club is also good with lots of activities like painting, magic show, pirates treasure hunting etc.

Clean Pool. They clean pool side every night with power wash so next day morning you have clean pool side. Pool side activities like Zumba, Aqua Yoga in pool, foam party and much more!

Rooms are very nice and clean. Room service is fantastic!

Buffet has a large option! Lot of vegetarian options. Food was fresh and well cooked. Lot of good restaurants. Beach side buffet is good!

Beach was crowded due to busy season so prefer to go early if you are looking for nice sitting area with shades.

When we arrived at the room it smelled awful like a cleaning liquid was used. The furniture was old. We requested to move to another hotel because we felt the pictures and description of the hotel were misleading.

They allowed us to move to another hotel in the complex for a fee but the person taking care of us lied to us on the type of room at the nearby hotel. He showed us a better room knowing they would give us a lower grade room unless we paid an additional fee.

The food a the hotel was very average. We will not go back to this hotel.

Feels like a fall from grace. Visited the Punta Cana Bahia 10+ years ago and the experience has plummeted. Poor customer service and feeling ignored at concerns. Significant delays at several a la cartes, mosquito issues in the daytime near pools and waterparks, and most notably, you will wipe out on the pool deck when it gets even the slightest bit wet if you are not barefoot.

We stayed at the Fantasia section of the Bahia Principe. There were pros and cons.
Pros: The water park was excellent for the kids. The beach was very nice: you could walk for a long time. Food was decent. Resort was well maintained

Cons: If Spanish isnt your first language, it felt as though you got treated poorly. The floor around the pool was incredibly slippery; its hazardous and a lawsuit waiting to happen. The drinks from one bar to the next are inconsistent.

We used Amstar transportation services, and the experience was excellent,truly a 10/10.
The buffet offered good quality and a decent variety, though the service could be improved. We tried six restaurants, with Il Paradiso (Italian) being the highlight—both the food and service were outstanding. The Gourmet restaurant had average food, but the service stood out. At Le Flame (Steakhouse), the food was delicious, but the portions—especially the steak—were excessively large, leading to waste, and the service was not at the same level. Takara (Asian) was average overall, while Las Olas (Rodizio) was disappointing, with poor service and underwhelming food.
We attended the Oneiro show, which was highly entertaining but geared toward adults. The fixed menu was not enjoyable, with oversized portions (like a giant hamburger) that resulted in a lot of uneaten food. It would work better as a show with light snacks rather than a full dinner.
The room was comfortable, especially the beds, but felt outdated and had maintenance issues. Some amenities were missing and not replaced despite requests.
Entertainment overall did not meet expectations. Shows lacked variety and interactivity, and scheduled activities were often canceled, making evenings repetitive.
The beach was crowded and busy with vendors, while the pools were clean, spacious, and enjoyable. Internal transportation was efficient.
Although we had a good stay overall, the hotel did not deliver on its promise of unique, kid-focused

De verdad que me encantó este hotel! Para visitas familiares excelente los niños la pasaron genial y mi esposo y yo también hay entretenimiento para todos y me gustó mucho que se comunica con otros hoteles de la misma cadena y teníamos acceso también! We had an amazing experience at this resort, and a big part of that was thanks to the concierge Eduardo. From the moment we arrived, he was incredibly helpful, resourceful, and thoughtful in making sure our stay was smooth and enjoyable.

What stood out most was his effort in helping us book activities ahead of time. He took the time to explain all of our options, offered great recommendations based on what we were looking for, and handled everything efficiently so we could simply relax and enjoy. His attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond made planning effortless.
