First we were there at 4pm to check in and the lobby was locked. It’s said open till 8pm. Ok maybe dealing with something on the property. Called the number and the guy that answered said he will be there in 2 minutes. Over 10 minutes later he shows up to check us in. Get to our room and we notice that at the onsite living quarters they are having a big bbq party. That was why we had to wait. He was busy with a friends and family party. We usually stay elsewhere but it was booked. The room and entire property needs a lot of maintenance. An old couch just in front of the rooms. Room needs a serious update. Lots of drywall patches not painted. Stuff falling apart. Tv works off of internet and the internet went out in the middle of a movie we were watching. Could not get it back on. Bedroom door removed and door jamb not even patched and painted. Would not be a problem but when you are charging almost $300 for one night with tax then that’s a problem. These rooms are max $180 rooms with tax. Lake view through trees and over houses behind the hotel. We don’t leave reviews ever but this all had to be said. Again, it was a one and done for us.

The room was perfect for one night stay for me. The little place was cute. It was nice to be up in the mountains for a change. That’s my favorite place to be. I will definitely be back to the fireside Inn again.

The place is older so don’t expect everything to be brand new but, it’s clean and cozy. Lots of heaters, fireplace, hot tub in room and in the middle for pricing. Staff is very helpful and was available to help us with the tv and fireplace. Definitely recommend but don’t hit for persons with super high expectations. We had a great time and will be back in the future.

On expedia the property looks awesome. Reality is totally different. They are not maintained. Everything is dingy. We did not end up spending the night due to us finding roaches on our pizza as we watched television.

It’s well worn in some aspects but with character and cleanliness….heated clean-looking outdoor pool (assuming seasonal)….continental breakfast in the morning (wrapped pastries, fruit, coffee and tea). Our bed was comfy, the room was clean, we had a fridge and microwave, gas fireplace w/ a timer. It’s not the most updated hotel but the price point was perfect, we had a view of the lake just outside our room and it’s a short walk to The Village. Positive interactions with the staff. Would stay again! (And they are pet friendly!).

I don’t like leaving a poor review but wish I’d had more insight before booking. Room was dirty & neglected. Same with the grounds. The lady that checked us in left a line of customers in the lobby for 10+ mins then was cold and not welcoming. There was a younger man that helped us when we needed another blanket for the pull out bed and he was great. We did like how close it was to the Village. I’ll looo elsewhere next time.

The room was adequate and clean on arrival. The shower was adequate and both the Wi-Fi and TV worked well. There is plenty of parking outside and the front desk gave us extra towels when we asked. Both the wall heater and gas fireplace worked ok (the gas wall furnace made some ticking noises that is caused by the metal contracting when it turned off everytime though).

Hotel rooms are a bit run down and even though it’s a great location in the heart of big bear it’s located on a high traffic zone so getting in and out of the hotel wasn’t the easiest. We had one of the spa suite rooms and it was really nice. Pretty much 2 rooms combined and a back patio which was really great for our dogs.
Lucky for us we were able to even check in early (around 1:30-2pm) which I greatly appreciated and 11am checkout time is amazing to me as well because usually anywhere else is 10am and I’m calling asking for late checkout lol.
I did absolutely appreciate and loveee the fact the spa suite room is dog friendly. We love to travel with our dogs and not all the time are pets allowed in every room so being able to reserve the room we want and accommodate our dogs was great.
The spa tub worked great very big and pretty deep, all jets work, clean, and right next to a lil fire. The tv is on a swivel tables too so you can watch it while you’re in the tub.
Super close to the village too. Literally like a 5-10 minute walk.
4 burner stove. Mini fridge that got so cold my drinks got kinda slushy. A few pots and pans, as well as plates bowls silverware were in the room too with dish soap and a sponge. Everything for us to make an amazing dinner and breakfast.
10/10 will be coming to stay here whenever we go to Big Bear from now on.

The location was great as far as close to The Village and the lake. The room we stayed in was very cute and had potential for being very cozy and comforting for a weekend stay. We did think it could definitely use some updating and paying attention to details as far as maintenance and cleaning. Had an odor of old and musky. We did see some areas that could have possibly been previous water damage and incomplete repair work, such as covering around pipe fixtures on the walls in the restroom. What appeared to have been a moldy, could have been stained wood, old medicine cabinet in the restroom that didn’t close all of the way. Unmopped floors in the kitchen area. I will say there wasn’t anything that was absolutely disgusting, just saw the aging and use over the years that by investing some time in would make it absolutely adorable and comfortable. The walls in the bedroom are very thin and could easily hear everything happening in the room nextdoor. Sounded like they were rearranging the entire room several times and burning their food up until about 1 in the morning. I think I would come back if the place was revamped with new carpet and the maintenance details were addressed.

The facility has the honestly earned character of a motel built before 1950. Our room had a gas fireplace that worked after the Manager came to our room to relight the pilot light. The motel is in need better maintenance or restoration, but is livable as it is. The location is excellent, close to the lake and to downtown shops and very good restaurants. We chose the place because it was interesting, conveniently located, and inexpensive rather than shiny and new, so we were happy with our stay.

Great family getaway!
Great place right on the lake, very cozy feeling cabin with a real wood fireplace that was great for making s'mores with the kids and plenty of space. enjoyed the balcony with the view over the lake with the morning cup of coffee. The full kitchen was nice so that we could cook our own breakfast and get to the mountains early without having to find food on the way out for the day.

No servía el baño, increíble pagar $200 por una noche y no poder usar el baño. La tv se desconectaba prolongadamente por lo que no pudimos ni siquiera ver TV. Llamamos a recepción por el baño inservible y llegaron con un destapador, hicieron un desastre en el baño que ni siquiera se dignaron a limpiar, había una chica y un chico y solo se reían y hacían cara de asco, pensé que nos iban a cambiar de habitación pero solo dejaron un destapador y se fueron, el cuál no utilizamos porque el baño quedó con un olor horrible. La habitación olía mal y las sábanas también. El hotel está en una buena ubicación, pero es solo eso, lo demás fué pésimo. Definitivamente no vivimos una experiencia grata.

The motel was typical and the only redeeming feature was the hot tub. But the main problem is that the room was dirty. Staying there for a couple of days triggered our allergies. The vents were dusty. The utensils in the kitchen were dirty. The floor was dirty

The reception are could use some clean up and update but doesn’t affect anyone’s overall experience there. I was able to order food while there. Highly recommend the lodge.
