Nice location. Terribly maintained. Bathroom ridiculous. Child size toilet. Disgusting tile in entryway and bathroom. Sink not in bathroom but in room. One small grab bar in shower poorly placed. For a senior the whole bathroom was frustrating and unsafe. Linen and beds very nice. Staff just lovely people. The owners should be ashamed of the obvious neglect and indifference that shows for paying guests. The Drake could be wonderful, but that would require someone paying attention.

Stayed here recently and had a really solid experience overall. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout the stay, and the check-in process was very smooth. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a short trip.

The location was also convenient and made it easy to get around. A few small things could be improve, the place was slightly dated and parking was a bit limited at busy times, but nothing that took away from the overall experience.

Would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and reliable place to stay in Canmore!

The hotel is pretty dated, but most items are well maintained. Just the room is too close to the main street where lots of people hanging out late talking loud during mid-night which affect the sleep quality.
Staffs are super friendly, kudos to the people working here.

This hotel is a sweet gem in Canmore! Walking distance to everything shops, restaurants, the walk along the creek is beautiful. The room had everything you need and a great view of the Three Sisters. Staff was so friendly and quick to fix an error on the charges. We danced the night away at the bar attached to the hotel then strolled back to our room. Great stay would definitely book again.

Great cheap place to stay during the winter months. The rooms have been freshly renovated and the outside just got a fresh coat of paint (summer of 2025). The pup has excellent food and amazing staff. The inn is within walking distance of downtown and lots of restaurants.

Terrific fun and great staff in the office at the restaurant/pub. After being in a room that felt too exposed, staff were very accommodating to my request for a room off the main floor. Very comfortable beds, the amenities were as stated, and wonderful proximity to everything we wanted.

This was an amazing stay for the money. You get what you pay for. You can't expect a 5 star resort when you pay 2 star motel prices. The beds were comfortable and clean. The washroom was dated, but clean. With the fridge and coffee maker, we saved a lot on meals. There was no microwave, but there was one in the office that we could use. The location was great - one block from the downtown core. The staff was very kind. The secure parking was right at the bottom of the stairs.

The location is excellent, but the hotel is really showing its age. The room walls need repainting, and although the bathroom looked like it had been renovated, the work wasn’t finished. The room was clean overall, but there were popsplatters on the walls near the bed. The office area outside looked quite messy, with cluttered desks and items left out, which didn’t give a good first impression. For the value 150.00 ..should kept looking .. The best is the renovated bar and lounge music is great lots of young locals come. The food is really good .. but pay 5.00 for a tea bit much

My only note is that there needs to be a longer runner carpet for getting in the door and taking shoes off. It was a wet weekend, and our floor got pretty messy.

It was an okay place to put our heads down. We did see a gross spot on our down douvet. I cleaned something else (Gross spot) from shower curtain which should be changed out for a clean one. Room is sure from the 70-80's & I saw newer remodeled rooms when I was searching. I will not book here again.

We were initially pleased with the off-season rate and felt that the hotel provided reasonable value for the price. While it is not a high-end mountain resort, the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival, and our room was clean, though it would benefit from some updates. We particularly enjoyed the mountain views from our creekside room.

However, there were several aspects of our stay that were disappointing. There was no indication on Hotels.ca or the hotel’s official website that the on-site pub and restaurant would be closed until December for renovations, which was unfortunate as we had planned to dine there and watch a game. Additionally, there was no mention that Telus was conducting work on the property, impacting access to the main entrance and portions of the parking area.

After booking our reservation, we received an email outlining the pub’s hours (later upon check in finding out the location currently closed) as well as informing us about reduced front desk hours due to staffing shortages and low-season operations.

Unfortunately, our nights were also disturbed by excessive noise, including guests pounding on doors and others shouting from the parking lot to rooms on the upper floors. With no front desk or staff available, we had no one to report.

Overall, while the staff were pleasant and the views beautiful, the lack of communication regarding closures, construction, and disruptions significantly detracted from the experience.

The room was clean and comfortable, but the management’s handling of my booking was unacceptable. The hotel charged my card for the full amount an hour before their office closed, without warning. I had already paid the deposit and first night stay, so this felt excessive and unprofessional.

To make matters worse, I was told by the manager that office hours were 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Thursday, and I even have an email confirming that. However, they sent an amended schedule the day of check-in — which I didn’t see because I relied on the original information provided when I booked. I showed up promptly at 8 a.m. to pay in person, but the manager was late, and I had to leave for my retreat without staying.

Overall, the room was fine, but the lack of clear communication and the unauthorized early charge completely ruined my experience. I wouldn’t book again unless management improves their professionalism and consistency.

We were travelling with 2 pedal bikes. Room was on the 3rd floor. No way we were getting our bikes up stairs. On elevator. Quick phone call to the contact number. A spot on the ground floor was made available for storage. All turned out just great. Thanks so much !!

Although a great location to walk in town the facility was over priced for what it is…. Office closed by 5 pm, there was mold on the shower wall ceiling and dirty floors. No elevators and three floors were rough with a heavy suitcase. It was just a place to rest your head for a night. Nothing spectacular.

This property was no frills but had everything we needed. The room was clean and updated. Did lack a space to hang things. A few more hooks would help.
No elevator. Restaurant pub on site. Beautiful view of mountains and creek running next to property. Easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and downtown as well as trails. Take note. No hot tub on site. Great choice for price point.

The photo on the Expedia website is deceptive. The property is not attractive and feels like a motel. The door to the bathroom was a barn door that kept sliding open. The restaurant on the first floor pumped out a very heavy odor of bacon cooking. No elevator, we had a third floor walk up. There was an outdoor music venue somewhere close with very loud amplifiers. Music alternated between very loud rock and equally loud accordion polkas. Yes you read that right. Accordion polkas. Between the stink from bacon cooking, the music, and constant traffic noise we couldn’t keep the window open. No A/C of course. The room had a fan. There was an analog clock on the wall with the wrong time.

The views were amazing. The hotel itself is old and therefore although maintained well enough, could def use an upgrade. Low season staffing meant self checkin after 5 pm.The room was small, outside access with no elevator, and well below the usual standards for the high cost. You are paying for location only, not accommodations standards.

Not enough for our stay. We had arranged to meet my brother/ nephew and couldn't offer a drink. The office closed at 5 so unable to request more. No breakfast available.

We stayed at the Drake Inn for 3 nights over the long weekend. Check in was easy and staff were friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions. Our room was great. It was a good size with 2 queens, 2 desks/tables with chairs, and a lounge chair. It also had a fridge and coffee maker. The sink is outside the washroom as others have mentioned and we found this very convenient. Someone can be getting ready, even if washroom is in use!
The balcony was private, and had an amazing view of Policeman Creek and mountains. We could hear the creek gurgling as we relaxed in the outdoor chairs and table provided. We heard none of the bar noise that some mention but we were on the otherside of building.

The only negative I would say is that the rooms are a bit tired, however everything works, beds are very comfortable and there is lots of hot water. The slider screen door did not have a lock, which would be appreciated as this door needs to be left open at night to cool the room. Fan provided was efficient and quiet, but having patio door open is still needed.

Overall a great stay and we look forward staying here again!

The view of the mountains and the creek was beautiful. The evening breeze was lovely. Things were clean and tidy. In my opinion, other negative reviews are too harsh. There was plenty of parking available when we checked in on time, and we still found a spot after having an early dinner. Was able to stay in the parking lot a bit longer after checkout for shopping as well, without an issue.
