Check in at this hotel was abysmal. Staff not willing to help appropriately to solve issues. If you use a third party booking service just make sure that you notate the reservation is for 2 people even though the booking says the room is set up to accommodate 2 as in the case of husband and wife or they will try to make you pay an additional $300 even though if you booked for 2 originally it would have been the same price as 1. The staff was not overly friendly or helpful in general. Very basic services here. Upon entering our room for the first time and entering the bathroom it overwhelmingly smelled of urine/ammonia. Once it was cleaned by the maid the next day it never smelled again. Definitely needs blackout shades for sliding doors because it had sheer curtains and the sun shined in beginning at 6 am. I definitely would not book or stay at this hotel again. It is definitely subpar for the price paid.

The location was good. 6 minute walk to virtually everything. We had an oceanview suite which was very nice.

The only issue was that the elevator didn’t work and we were on the 4th floor.

The hotel description indicated that there was coffee in room but it was small and no cream or sugar.

The mint was a good deal for the price. The staff was friendly, the room was clean. The only thing that would make me not choose to stay there again would be the lack of hot water in the showers. Some people said to let it run for a while and it would get hot, but that never happened in my room. Besides for that it was a great stay.

This is a well located hotel on the Island, within walking distance of North Beach, the main high road where the restaurants, bars and shops are, and the main port.

Vanessa and “Aaron’s Mum” were the reception staff who were patient, helpful and friendly.

The hotel is only classed as 3 Star which is understandable, but for an Island Hotel and the experience we had, feels a little unfair, and as such, I thought it very good value, would book again, and would recommend.

We took recommendations from the staff and weren’t disappointed; a taxi to Rosa Sirenas is well worth it for a wonderful dinner, Moguago or Aroma for breakfast coffee, Stingrays for some people watching and a relatively decent margarita.

We have visited the island several times, but this was our first stay at The Mint, and we already can’t wait to come back. We spent six days there and honestly wished we had booked a longer stay.

The customer service was exceptional, the views were stunning, and the location couldn’t have been better. Everything was within walking distance to some of the island’s best beaches and restaurants.

Also, don’t miss the massages while you’re there. The two women who provide them are incredible, and the prices are very reasonable. We are already planning our next trip back!

This is a glorified hotel - not a resort. It has rooms that are nice, big, modern, and clean. It has a relaxing small lounging pool facing the ocean and a small restaurant/bar. However it is not a “resort”. It is beside the malecon/ocean and there is a small beach near it but the water is too rough to swim. The hotel is in a great location being about a ten minute walk to the beautiful Playa Norte and several street food locations and restaurants.

My first main issue was that the wifi was so bad when I was in my room that it might as well not exist. It worked a bit better (though very slowly) in the lobby area.

My second issue is that my Expedia booking said the rate I paid was for two people but when my friend who was visiting the island wanted to shower in my room after being at the beach, they wanted me to pay a $1200MXN “visitor fee”. I pushed back but the staff insisted I had to pay it because of the hotel’s stupid “policy”. This made no sense and felt like a shameless money-grab. I have never had an issue like this at a hotel.

Overall, I can’t see myself returning next time I visit the island, nor would I recommend this place to friends and family, as the issues I had really tainted my experience. I ended up checking out a day early and changing my plans, mainly because of the hotel trying to squeeze extra money out of me for no reason. I also don’t understand why Expedia allows hotels to advertise that the rate is for two people then allow the hotel to do this.

I was 100% happy with my stay.

The staff was excellent! Candy checked me in, she is super friendly and accommodating. I had a great massage at the hotel as well. Very decent pricing, too.

Clean, open, spacious room. Small, but nice pool near the ocean. A couple local birds dropped by to sip some water. Not in the pool, but on the edge.

Not a top tier luxury resort, but for the money you can’t do better. I will stay here again for sure.

- elevator did not work during our 5 day stay.
- first night 5 AM smoke alarm above our bed went off. We found it was only our room that was going off. 7 AM it went off again. Smoke alarms are not hard wired and Maintainence did not know how to change batteries. The manager came to our room at 930AM and changed the batteries.
- upon check-in we requested NO complimentary spa treatments we would prefer comp. breakfast each morning. After the smoke alarm incendent the manager promised we would have comp. breakfast for our bad experience.
- next morning we went to have breakfast and front desk said we had to pay there was not a note on file stating comp. breakfast.
-location great, rooms large, pool OK with only 4 chairs.
-manager does not care to follow through and ruined our trip. We will not return and will never recommend this hotel.

GREAT property! Nice pool (small) location is a walk to beach but very do able. We got 4 th floor jacuzzi tub room and after we paid extra they informed us the elevator was broken. I have read it is “broken” a lot. They offer pool towels (when available, never are) and “beach” towels (size of a wash cloth and hand towel) both are hard to get and very limited.
Room was very comfortable, nice showers and jacuzzi tub was great ! We had Connor room with amazing view but had a window that didn’t have black out curtains. Ac was great! Fridge and they gave us bottled water daily with an AMAZING cleaning staff. Johnathan the night receptionist was super friendly and greeted us constantly.
The one staff member that checked us in was nice at first and then threw the week was rude and unfriendly. Food at the restaurant was good (breakfast) and staff was great. View is undeniably gorgeous and love sitting on porch watching the waves and every morning sun rise. We would stay again but bring our own towels and hope we got a center room.

Beautiful view, room condition was very good, two bottles of water a day was excellent.

Although this is classified as a VIP hotel, it is not and should probably be changed on Expedia.

The pool really looks nice, but we never used it because it was totally in the sun until late afternoon.

Overall, we had an excellent three weeks at the Mint. We love the staff. They are extremely friendly and helpful.

We will definitely stay here again.

Had a great 10 day stay in one of the ground floor studios. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Restaurant and bar had good food and reasonably priced drinks. Pool was lovely and refreshingly cool. My one and only negative is the hall noise carries into the rooms. We brought a sleep sound machine and just turned it up so wasn't an issue for us but may be for others.

The Mint is walking distance from the ferry terminal, the many restaurants and bars of Miguel Hidalgo street as well as Playa Norte to soak up the sun and sea. It offers large, clean rooms for a very affordable price and friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Only downside is that room did not have a microwave and kettle. It did have a coffee maker and refrigerator. Still recommend. Will go again!

I booked several rooms for our wedding group. They \"lost\" one of our reservations and charged us significantly more than the Expedia rate just to get our guests into a room.

The staff attempted to charge money on multiple days claiming they forgot to charge something else, etc. They do not offer breakfast regardless of what Expedia says. One of our guests walked into their room to a strange man going through their suitcase.

I would not recommend and will not book the Mint for any other annual trips to Isla.

This is the windy side of the island, but the view is gorgeous. The hotel is very, very basic. No couch in the room, no doors on the closet/armoire. The patio chairs were plastic and uncomfortable. A few upgrades and added pieces of furniture would go a long way. There are just a few lounge chairs by the pool so they go fast. And it seemed as though you had to rent cushions for them. Breakfast was included in our package and it was very, very, basic. Sufficient, but basic. The location is excellent. Walkable to everywhere, even mid-island if you want. But easy to get to town, beach, ferry, and did I mention the view?!?

Great location just a short walk from the ferry. Beach is beautiful but rocky and not suitable for swimming. However, North Beach is perfect and just a 5 min walk away. In fact, the whole town is within 5 min and filled with shops and restaurants. Small swimming pool but beautiful and nice lounge chairs. Small lobby restaurant is ok but takes only cash. There's a spa and nails place. No other amenities. We had a single king room which was surprisingly large. Fridge/freezer and Nespresso machine. Large walk-in shower. Staff was very good.

My only complaint is that the beds were bad- squeaked and were quite uncomfortable. Family suite that was to support 3 overnight adult guests, only had 2 double beds ( not great ones) then we had to ask for a cot ( which squeaked even more)
Other than that, the hotel provided everything we could want. Location and Staff were excellent.

We had an ocean front room and the view was amazing. It was simply but adequately equipped with everything we needed (fridge, coffee maker, chairs on the huge deck, etc) making it feel very comfortable, clean and airy. It also smelled amazing in all of the public areas. (Essential oils?)

The staff was very friendly and helpful and took us to our room to show us how to use everything and brought complimentary welcome drinks.

The location is perfect, the view is beautiful, it’s on the walking path and the beach and plenty of shopping and eating options are close by but it’s far enough to be quiet and not in the middle of the chaos.

They also had a bag check room we used both on our arrival and departure days. That was much appreciated.

The only downside is that both pools were very cold. It was strange, they were in the sun most of the day but never heated up. The lounge area is really nice and the desk has cushions if you’d like.

Tip: if you are a big coffee drinker, the pods in the room make tiny cups but the grocery store a couple of blocks away sells pods so we bought extra.

Overall, we loved our stay and hope to stay again, we just wished the pool was warm enough for a comfortable swim.

I just spent 11 days at The Mint. Its location is great just outside the downtown area and a 5 minute walk to the beaches. I had a 3rd floor luxury ocean view room and the room was large and clean and modern. Unfortunately there was no furniture in my room besides the bed and a small kitchenette table with 2 chairs. Other people I was traveling with had a couch in one room, and double chairs & coffee table in another room along with the kitchenette in both. So my room was really big and pretty much empty. I addressed the lack of furniture immediately with the manager and she pretty much blew me off with some attitude. I had a great balcony overlooking the ocean but I couldn’t enjoy it as the balcony had constant 1” deep puddles of water which never dried the entire time I was there and when I used the balcony, I tracked water back into the room and made a mess of the floors so I avoided going out there. The pool was small but nice, but a lack of seating for the pool area made it difficult to use. There were 6 lounge chairs and one 4 top table to use in the pool area for the entire hotel full of people. That’s it. The other seating under the pergola is for restaurant guests only, not hotel guests & we were chased out of there by the people running the restaurant. As far as drinking water goes, you get two 16 ounce bottles of water per day, or enough to brush your teeth with. Also, the coffee machines brew a literal mouthful of coffee per brew, & you get two of those per day.

The ocean was visible from our room. This room was huge, but it lacked furniture. We could have used a side table on the deck to set our drinks. There was no microwave, so we had to eat out all the time, then eat cold leftovers. I wouldn't recommend this place for a long term stay. Otherwise we were gone most of the time. Expresso machine gave us 1 oz. of coffee, I'm used to 16 oz. The sitting area at the pool was small and only 8 loungers.

The room was fairly clean. The shower was a litte dirty. The pool wasnt huge, but we knew that. But the view was amazing. We were a bit dissapointed on towel service, we were only able to get towel service twice and we stayed there for about 7-8 days. They were always out or they were all in the wash. I dont get how they did not have enough towels. Also, the shower in the room, was only super hot water or cold water. There was no in between. I do not think I would stay at the mint again. Overall though for the price, it wasnt a bad stay.

We kinda liked the spacious rooms, and location but the housekeeping was so below par that it ruined our overall experience. The housekeeping staff was a lady named Bertha ( I saw her name on the envelope to place tips). First day : Left her a USD 5 tip and of course that was not enough for her. After that she just stopped cleaning the room properly. The toilet was dirty, rooms were full of dust, she did not changed the sheets or pillow cases. Thus completely turned this more than decent hotel into a roadside rundown hotel experience for us. I would stay away from this property unless they really invest into better housekeeping staff. I am not alone, I did read some reviews from previous guests but took my chances and I regret it now.

The only good thing about the room was the view of the ocean from the balcony. When we first arrived in the room we noticed the floor was gritty with sand and some crumbs by the fridge. There is a light above the front door that is on a motion sensor so it comes on in the middle of the night anytime we got up to use the bathroom. There is wiring visible above the bedside tables that is just twisted and hanging there like a fire hazard. Then the final insult was we asked for 2 bottles of water on the last day because we had not gotten them from housekeeping the day before and we were told we would be charged for them since it was check out day. Would not recommend to anyone.

Room was great, clean, beautiful view. Not many chairs for the pool area and would run out of beach towels. Staff was great!!!

Our one night stay was great at Mint Hotel. We booked ahead of time and all the fees explained in Expedia were respected.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was great and the view from our balcony was great.
We will com back if god permits it.

Not enough lighting in room- fans/lights got on and off, must be neighbors remote running our fans.
Only one mirror to do make up and hair and it’s in bathroom. Not enough free coffee it bitty 1 oz cups!

Staff not so friendly- one lady at desk was others not so much.
Very few times we had WiFi in room

Cold showers- 5 days only 1 warm, not hot shower, rest was freezing cold.

My room was fine , tv didnt work half the time and i only watch at night at bedtime . Had them in there 3 times to fix it never happened. Asked for a microwave 4 days they where going to get me one again never happened. Halls where very loud you could hear everyone . I had room at end of the hall there was a exit door slammed till 11 pm it was awful

We enjoyed our stay. Any problems were resolved immediately. Only problem we had was the elevator didn’t work the last day but one of the men from the front desk came up to the 3rd floor and carried our luggage down. The view was perfect, pool was clean and cool. We had a massage one day there and that was the best. Parking was convenient right at the hotel. Location was easy to walk from to anywhere downtown.

Cleanliness could be improved, please put a lid on the toilet bin! There was daily cleaning but perhaps not enough time, but staff friendly.
Room large with adequate furnishings and large balcony with chairs, but really needed a table
Pool small and east facing so little sunlight after noon.
Reception staff friendly.
No room for changeing or showering if you have a late flight.
Reception east facing also with no doors so wind blew though into hallways and into bar/restaurant which made it very cold.
