What a wonderful stay! We decided to spluge a little since Na Balam costs more than the budget hotels we usually frequent. It was worth every penny! Such a cozy little resort with a jungle feel, but you cross the street for your complimentary sumptious breakfast, and right outside the restaurant is the beach! The complimentary beach beds are very comfortable. Beach club servers are there if you need food and beverage, but they are not intrusive. Wanted to mention Melita, who greeted us when we checked in after a horrible travel day. She immediately put us at ease and explained everything that would make our stay enjoyable. After this cool experience, I don't see how we can stay anywhere else in Isla Mujeres!

The AC was excellent. Book a room as far as you can away from the street. Loud music and party vibes at noc. Usually quiet by 11 pm. Hot water not hot on two days. Internet signal lost a half of the stations on my last night.

The property is basic. Some rooms are dark and uninviting, others are nice. The hotel photographs look misleadingly great. Read the reviews and note the numerical rating. The shower water pressure was weak and the hot water temperature was room temperature - the two ladies in our group were very uncomfortable with this. Nice to have privileges at the private beach across the street and also at the ridiculously expensive sister hotel there (Jaguar at $550 a nite for peak low season). I got room seevice and the meat was bad and I threw up till 6am. For this, they gave me an upgraded pillow on the beach lounge chair. Honestly! No refund on the meal, not even a complimentary drink. They are very penny pinching, but all nice enough. The air conditioning was good.

Simple, nothing even remotely fancy, across the street from their nice private beach, 4 hotel rooms per structure, barely enough water pressure and hot water for a shower, powerful air conditioning, no lobby, small shaded pool, noisy neighborhood at night at bed time, decent breakfast included, steep steps to 2nd level units are tough for elders, somewhat bohemian. About a 10 - 15 minute walk to the bustling fun town center, 25 minute walk to the water taxis to Cancun.

The quietest, most beautiful hotel. It is basic amenities and no restaurant (you go to the Jaguar for the free breakfast) and they are very protective of the towels but the pool area is breathtaking and the included beach club beds are just what you need.

Hotel has a sister property that guests are allowed to use called La casa del Jaguar. Sebastian who works in this resort was extremely rude to me and my family. He told us we were not allowed to walk through the hotel and had to walk around. He said we each had to have a bracelet on to be allowed through. when our receptionist clearly only gave us one for the whole family. When I came back to the hotel to inquire about this i was indeed told we did the correct thing and didn’t need a bracelet each. Very un pleasant situation. I met with the manager to la casa del Jaguar who assured me we had access to the beach through their hotel and to disregard what he had said. Nonetheless it made for an unpleasant encounter. Hotel claims this is a sister hotel but the whole time you are there you are treated inferior than the guests at this resort. Na Balam hotel staff was very accommodating and understanding. Hotel was always very clean and the rooms were perfect for a family of 5.

The hotels location, its beauty and most importantly the staff! Fredrico the hotel manager was very accommodating. My mom has sight challenges and he was able to get my mom a room closer to the amenities. Very grateful! Lina at concierge was friendly and very helpful too! Sonny at the bar was always prompt with drinks and food at the beach! Thank you guys! I will definitely miss this hoteland its staff! Will definitely be back! Muchas gracias!

Ok here’s the bad to get it over with. ZERO customer service. No hot water for showers for 6 days. Bed pillows are like cement. Room keys are ridiculous…outdated..need to be updated. Property has lots of outdoor lighting all night and the room window curtains are very thin and white so the room stays very light all night. Only two towels per room per day. Small bottles of water (2) that does not taste good - not sealed so not sure where it came from…. But they will sell you a sealed bottle at the desk. No toiletries included. The pool always looked cloudy and the hot tub was only hot for 2 of our 6 days.
Now the GOOD … very clean rooms that smelled fresh every time we walked in. Never had this in Mexico before. Hands down - the BEST a beach club access with excellent service. Hats off to Sebastian!! Easy access to bathroom from beach club. The breakfast was repetitive but good. Coffee, juice, eggs toast and little potatoes. It got old and you could also get pancakes. But always room to eat when we wanted. We are early risers so most days we had breakfast around 7:30 am. The hotel was mostly quiet….no noise at night. We lost power once at midnight but a generator kicked on quickly so no big deal. A/C worked perfectly as did the ceiling fan. The location of this hotel is fantastic. We met many friendly guests.
If it was not for the lousy guest service at the desk… I won’t go into detail…I would’ve rated this higher. We go for the beach and for this I give *****.

The property is impeccably clean and well-maintained, offering a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. While it lacks some wall décor or additional decorations, it remains a comfortable and pleasant space. However, the complimentary breakfast experience was disappointing. Guests are directed to a neighboring hotel across the street, where the staff, aware that the breakfast is free, offer limited options and an unprofessional, somewhat cold service. Additionally, the wait time was longer compared to regular guests of that hotel.

The beach beds were also located at the neighboring hotel, tucked away in a corner, far from the main guest areas. To make matters worse, there were no umbrellas provided to shield from the sun, leaving guests exposed to the elements. This made for a less-than-ideal beach experience.

This will be my second and final time at this hotel. I know the rooms are basic and run down, and that’s why it’s inexpensive. But the room reeked of mothballs so badly, and the small windows don’t have screens on them, so it was impossible to air the room out. Items that stayed in my suitcase the entire trip (this was a two night trip at the end of a longer visit in the region) smelled like mothballs when I came back home too, it was that strong. Then the parting shot was at checkout, when the front desk person deigned to look up from her phone to see what I wanted. I asked nicely if she could call for a taxi. Her response: we don’t do that. We walked away and saw taxi’s down the street. It’s a great location, but i can do better, and you can too.

We wanted to stay near North Beach on Isla Mujeres.
We also couldn't afford places like the Casa Del Jaguar.
Na Balam is right across the street from CDJ and it's a sister hotel you walk through it for daily included Breakfast and to access the beach. (at less than half the price it's a steal)
You also get a \"RED BED\" a dedicated space on the beach with queen sized red beds one for each room so you never have to worry about a nice place on the beach, you also get a secure bathroom and you're 10-20 steps away from the water.
The hotel looks like you're walking into a jungle oasis, it has a lovely pool and hot tub, we didn't use either as the Caribbean was perfect day in and day out.
North beach is famous for good reason, it's walkable 200 yards/meters out and still anywhere from knee/waist or chest deep, so refreshing and kind of perfect !
There are good food option on the beach, whether it be from Casa or any of the beach front restaurants all were solid option IMO.
Around the corner you get a nice bakery (get there early for the best selection. a 4.9 rated burger place Pinchos, good burrito place Beach-in Burritos & more.
You're also a short walk to the popular Hidalgo street ( & by short I mean 5 mins 11 from ParadICE Gelato the far end of the strip and next to the municipal square.
We happened to hit Isla during Carnival it was loaded with street celebrations and we never felt unsafe.
Value was good not great for food, and the food was good very good everywhere.

This place is beautiful, quiet and has my kind of vibe. If you're looking for a larger resort/condo accommodation you won't like Na Balam. It's more laid back here. They have ten rooms with balconies facing a small pool and hot tub, a good sized shower with a mini fridge, yoga three times a day, and beach access across the street at Playa Norte. The restaurant was a bit pricey but fantastic. The staff is lovely and I was really pleased with our stay.

Great location. Comfortable room and laid back, friendly staff. Plumbing facilities were somewhat unreliable, though, and getting water pressure and hot water were a real challenge. Flushing toilet paper on the entire island is not allowed, making for a “different and unique” experience altogether. Other than that, it was great. The grounds are tropical and garden-like, and the rooms were very clean. It has a beautiful yoga studio for those interested, and we slept great. Very comfortable beds. 😊. We would go back. Bring washcloths.

The lady Anything at the front desk was rude. The room was OK, but there were steep steps going up to the second level. The room had a tiki roof, which was kind of cool but was poorly lit. It made it hard to get ready and put your make up on. The TV was small and mounted high and had a defective line through the LED screen. It did have Wi-Fi where you could log into your Netflix. The beds and pillows were hard. There were no washcloths. The resort did provide towels for the beach, which was in walking distance. Cabs were outside the hotel all times the resort uses the red beds on the beach, which are queen size beds free to use. They are behind bushes and don’t have a view, they are in the shade. The pool and hot tub were pretty and the surroundings were tropical. AC was a mini split in the room and worked good. The lock on the door was broken and it was hard to unlock and lock. The room overall needed maintenance. no amenities, such as a microwave or coffee pot. Free Limited breakfast across the street at the other hotel. Service there wasn’t great and slow. We had to walk across the street for coffee every morning. Price was right, but hotel could be maintained a little better. Maid service was top-notch. She asked us every day if we need towels or room cleaned. The room had a small porch where we could sit outside poolside. Check and check out was very easy. We rented a scooter downtown and was able to park it right outside the hotel with no problems.

Perfect for me and my family of 5! Amazing location, 5-10 minute walk to everything, 2 mins to the beach! Loved the breakfast and the beach lounge beds that were included! Tropical jungle property shaded with pool and hot tub! We got a massage there- Rocio and Rosario have magic hands, amazing! The front desk staff was very helpful, Melissa was always happy to answer all our questions and give recommendations! Crazy but we had the best pizza we’ve ever had on Isla because she recommended Pizza Bella! I’d give 11/10 because it exceeded my expectations!! Highly recommend this property

We liked the area around the property. Close to the beach and within walking distance of a lot of places. Didn’t like not being able to use the pool after 8:30. Didn’t like the smell of the rooms, they smelled like urine. We had to ask for different sheets and comforters because we had bugs in the beds. We weren’t expecting anything extra a because the price was fair but we did expect better than what we got. Would not stay there again.

We stayed for 4 nights and we will be back! The property is very well maintained and extremely quiet. We always opt out of hotel room upkeep but they did ask us if we needed more water or towels. The check in process was smooth and quick. The rooms are very plain and simple so if you're looking for a super luxurious place I dont think this would be a great fit for you. The rooms were basic but that was perfect for us because we only went to the room to sleep. We did get the poolside room so it gave us a great view of the pool. The beach is a 2-3 minute walk from the Hotel and the hotel provides day beds to Na Balam guests. There is also a server who comes around to the day beds so you can order beer, drinks, and food from the them and the aguachile was perfect. Na Balam will be a go to now. (:

We had the most peaceful stay at Nabalam. Tiny and tucked away little oasis. The rooms are basic, clean and perfect with great AC.
The best beach on the island is right outside your door. Beautiful white sand with gorgeous blue water. There is plenty of food and bars near by. The walkability is great.
There is breakfast included at the sister hotel across the road, we usually opted to go elsewhere. Highly recommend Mogagua.
The best part is you can return to the hotel after a busy day and its tranquility is amazing. Wonderful little pool, there is a spa and yoga!
I do miss daily greeting from the resident kitty Nabalam❤️

My family of four stayed in the two bedroom suite and from the moment we arrived, everything was wonderful. The shuttle from the airport was easy, the reception was warm, and the room was very spacious and comfortable. The location to the beach is very convenient and the breakfast was wonderful. The beds in the turquesa room were too firm, but that was the only complaint! The front desk was helpful with any questions we had.

Property was clean and was in a great location to get to restaurants, shops, etc. Free breakfast was good. Not great, but certainly not bad. Bed was like a slab of concrete, but also, not an uncommon thing on the island. Beach area was nice, but there were a ton of empty beach beds and they only let the hotel guests stay in a specific area off to the side for free or we could choose to pay $33.00 to stay in another area. Not a deal breaker, but somewhat senseless. I've stayed at many places on the island and this was definitely a place I would go again.
On a side note, I've been traveling to Isla Mujeres for over 25 years. It has always been one of my favorite vacation spots. It is beautiful, beaches are great, the restaurants are delicious, and until recently, it's been affordable. The last 2 times I've gone the prices have gone up considerably. Food and drinks have almost doubled, cab drivers changing the prices to a higher amount going to the same place, etc. My girlfriend had her credit cards stolen while her things were going through security at the airport; right out of the bag they were x-raying. I realize this could happen anywhere, but it was a horrible way to end the trip. Not the resorts fault, but we may start looking for for a new vacation spot.

Wonderful stay at Na Balam which was a peaceful oasis just steps away from gorgeous Playa Norte. Breakfast was especially delicious and a huge bonus (coffee, a variety of eggs, toast, fresh fruit and fresh orange juice) with a view of the ocean each morning. What a great way to start each day! The housekeeping staff was really friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed the pool area and would have loved if the hot tub was just a little hotter! Thanks for a lovely stay.

We checked out of the property after one night due to a couple of challenges: There was a lingering sewer smell that we've not experienced before and we've been regular visitors for a number of years. The door lock on our unit was not something that I could operate independently but my handy husband had the knack. (The door had been tampered with and there were a number of 'repairs' so it appeared to have been a known issue.) And the pool was cloudy and uninviting. We were celebrating a special event so we made the decision to move to a place that we were more comfortable despite the double expense. I think our experience may have been seasonal so read more reviews before you make a decision!

The hotel is situated with in walkable distance to Playa Norte and another plus is the access to the beach club there ( food is expensive but you are in the most beautiful beach in Mexico )
The Hotel is convenient and affordable but needs to work on a few things to get 4 to 5 stars like their rocking hard beds , the TV in the rooms are super old and only offer about 9 Chanel’s ( when you travel with kids you want to have more options specially at night ). The bathroom water pressure,,furniture in the rooms is old .
This hotel has a lot of potential if they work on some of this things the Staff was Great and the cleanliness was amazing . I will always come back if are any improvements.

When booking I did not know that the original beach front hotel we previously stayed at has been chopped up into 2 hotels (now renamed Casa Del Jaguar & Oceanus Beach Club ALL owned by Na Balam). Na Balam isn't a beach hotel is NOT on the beach even though they still advertise that it is. Website is extremely misleading & still has old photos of the beautiful rooms we first stayed in posted on Expedia as if this is what you'll get when you stay at Na Balam. They combined pictures from old hotel & current hotels but that is NOT what you'll get when you book, you'll get the crappy hotel across the street. Originally, they had 2 hotels both named Na Balam, beach side & across the street. The beach now is extremely crowded because they charge & make money by letting random outside people to \"use\" their beach area. I was in complete shock & upset as this was supposed to be our honeymoon. I asked for the manager & was told she would come the next day. Then was told the next day that she not only wouldn't be coming but she was out of the country, so we were lied to. I was charged an outrageous price for a horrible room/overpriced food which you have to cross the road to get to their other hotel's restaurant. Stayed 1 night because we had nowhere else to go. They ruined original beachfront hotel by cramming in all the other buildings in to make more money. Speaking of money,.. NO REFUNDS were/are given! Ended up at a great Airbnb called Punta Mundaca, South East side of Isla Mujeres.

It shared the facilities of the Jaguar hotel, and the eating area and beach which was fabulous. Only issue was hot. Water in the shower took 4 to 5 minutes to heat up. Otherwise we would definitely go back again.

Very good stay at Isla Mujeres

Really a great property. Not many options for breakfast. We were both allergic to the reeds they use to make roofing. Would ask for a first floor accommodation next time. Great beach environment.

We had a fantastically relaxing time at Na Balam. Stayed a full week with our two teens. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Appreciated having a mini fridge. The grounds are gorgeous and really feel tucked away and private, your own little oasis after a day on the beach. Speaking of the beach, it's the best we've ever seen and just a few steps away from the hotel where we had a private little area under the palms with reserved beach beds. It was truly wonderful. The staff went above and beyond, answering every question, even arranging a whale shark tour for us. Kind, courteous, attentive. The grounds were immaculate. Also, breakfast was included at the restaurant across the street which was great and unexpected. Make sure to take advantage of the walk-in yoga classes on the property, which is A .

We didn't know what to expect at Na Balam but were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were very clean and basic but more than enough for what we needed. Pool area is nice though very shady and reminded us of Bali. Our 5 yr old loved the pool. The hotel is very quiet with only 12 or so rooms so is a little oasis. The daily yoga classes (small cost) were great and Lal was an amazing instructor, especially to our 5 year old! Only downside was how busy the beach was. We were there just before Easter and Playa Norte was crazy, very difficult to relax and not how I remembered Isla from 10 years before! May have been time of year, may just be how it is these days. Not the hotel's fault at all though. Business was the same throughout the north end of the island.

Remembered the old NaBalam before Casa Tigre. Loved it so much. Chanting a 5:30 in the morning disturbed sleep and not much hot water in the shower. Will return, though.

The location is amazing. Close to beach and restaurants. The room was spacious, however, very outdated. There was construction in room next to us and for two days there was hammering all day, our room was mistaken for a restroom because of the location. There was a public sink off our doorway and people would knock thinking it was a bathroom. There were 3 channels on the tv. The sheets were like sandpaper. I would not stay here again.

Great location and good room. However, the service was terrible. I never leave reviews unless they are good but in this case I feel they could use the constructive criticism. We have stayed on the island many times in lots of dofferent types of hotels, airbnbs, etc. We wont stay here again. There were No towels for room or for the beach. We were told they would bring us some towels when they could, but that never happened. We also had to beg the security guard to go get our covid forms from the closed front desk at 10pm because they were supposed to be brought to our room for our early am flight but they were not. That extra stress was not necessary. When we asked for any change or money exchange they said they couldnt do-- which is 100% understandable, but for some reason they wouldnt offer any additional solution such as where the closest bank or exchange booth was located.... that would have been extremely helpful and simple..but no. We are easy going people so this did not ruin anything for us, but definitely wouldnt stay again. Only thing good was the location. We will stay at our other usual spots from here on out.

Beautiful property, very clean. Spacious rooms and very close to the beach. Water was a little lukewarm, and it was unclear where the lounges we were allowed to use were located, but finally found it. Few reasonably priced breakfast options nearby, but recommended a delicious place just down the street that we went to. Overall we had a lovely stay. Would recommend that if anyone has any mobility issues that they request a room on the ground floor, as the stairs to the second floor rooms were a little precarious and could be difficult to maneuver for someone older or with mobility issues.
