The room was run down with poor mirrors and a very dated bathroom. We requested wash cloths and were told that none were available that day. There was limited front desk service.

The balcony view was the nicest part. We had a beautiful ocean view.

We always enjoy our stay at this hotel. Great location on the Malecon, close to all the restaurants and bars. The only things they can improve on is getting satellite TV. We are not fluent in Spanish and on those late nights or
Rainy days. English speaking channels
Would be amazing.

The room was clean. The resort was quiet and walkable to many amenities. The views are amazing. The Pool area surpassed other resorts on the seawall. We utilized the kitchen area in the lobby to make a quick breakfast with complimentary coffee. The staff was courteous and attentive.

Clean rooms! Our requests were fulfilled and great staff!!! The view was spectacular. Very clean hotel. Door knob needs replaced and should consider moving air conditioner so it blows into main living space instead of straight toward bathroom. The view was breathtaking and very good location to all the shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!!!

We had requested a specific room and were given that room. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Room is clean and spacious for 2 people. Pool is relaxing and comfortable seating area. This is our 5 th time staying here....we won't go any place else. Thanks for the amazing stay. See you next year

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rocamar. Great location near Centro with its shopping and restaurants. A short walk to Playa Centro and Playa Norte. Our room had a sea view with a good size balcony. Enjoyed listening to the waves crashing every evening. Check in and out were efficient and friendly. Room is basic but clean. AC worked well, beds were comfortable and the water pressure was good. Only complaint was that the bathroom curtain needed to be washed.

They were doing construction, 1 day a man was standing on a ladder directly in front of my door and we almost ran into him and he said nothing the following day I was woken up by banging that sounded like it was in the room next to me and above me this went on for over 30 minutes before we just left the hotel for the day. The bedding had black fuz like particles throughout the sheets and they were present after each cleaning.

I gave 3 stars. The location is fabulous. The rooms are just ok. Nothing spectacular. My mom had to grt a new room due to the AC not working and the new room didn’t get quite as cold as we’d like during the hot august heat. The beds are clean which is important but the floors need some attention. There are lots of strands of hairs all over them and not very clean. The shower head needs to be changed. The water goes every which direction except down on you. Our one and only chair in the room was broken, which I mentioned the first night and it never got fixed. There is owners to sit in the room other than the bed. Other than that it was a great place to stay. We didn’t use the pool. But it does look pretty. I do like the 5 gallon bottle of water dispenser that is available to refill your water bottle. And one last thing, I’m not sure what the purpose of the wristband that they give you is for other than to annoy you being on your wrist. We’ve stayed here many times and it seems that they should update some things. They charge more than they used to a few years ago which is usually due to things being updated but nothing has changed in many many years.

The view from the rooms is amazing! It is minimalist but you’re there for the beach anyways. We had 2 rooms next to each other and not all rooms have a hammock. There is no elevator fyi.. we had grandma and she did ok but it was hard. This place is directly on the water, but there is no water access. AC worked amazingly as well as the hot water and toilets, in Mexico I call that a win!

I had an ocean view room on the 2nd floor with balcony and hammock. It was private and had a superb view. The hotel is minimalist but clean. Housekeeping was excellent. Otherwise there was no service other than check in and check out. The photo was taken from my balcony.

This hotel has come a long way since I first came here 20 years ago, And all the changes have been good. Everybody treated me well and the newly appointed rooms at a very reasonable price are accompanied with incomparable views and the soft breeze from the ocean. I hope to be here again soon.

Beautiful views and convenient location but hotel is run down. The staff won’t honor a room request but do try to make you happy. We have stayed there for years and sadly seen it decline. We were allowed to cancel but were charged for 1 night. We won’t be back unless there is a major renovation.

We stayed 4/27 to 5/2.Staff didn't explain pool hours or provide wifi information.
Day 1, toilet handle didn't work. We had to put in a work order to fix it. .Monday we didn't have any hot water. We let staff know early in the morning. We came back in the evening, still no hot water. We let staff know, gentleman said nothing he can't do anything as its late in evening. Next morning, still cool water when we showered.. Staff said it was fixed, you have to let water run awhile to get hot water. Every day after, you have to let water run awhile before you get hot water. They didn't offer to change our room because it was an issue with all rooms..
Overall, the location is great, the view is beautiful. The pool area is clean but the pool skimmer not great. Many bugs in the pool.. I dont think we'll stay again with all the issues we experienced.

My friend fell and broke her arm as there were no steps from the parking area. They never even asked how she was after spending a night in Cancun at the hospital. We had to cut our trip short because she needs surgery. They refused to give us a refund for the days we lost. Overall our stay was terrible!!!!!!

We have stayed at Rocamar a few years now and always return. The rooms are simple but clean with that ocean view you can’t beat! The breezes you feel by the pool are amazing and the location is perfect for getting around the north end on foot. Also, close to the ferry terminal so the walk to the hotel is under 10 minutes! (Or 5 minutes if you’re in a hurry to get to the hotel and a light packer) lol

excellent location , walkable right on malecon. walk to playa norte ( although with beach chairs seemed long walk). sound of crashing waves from water was beautiful.
hotel did run out of water one afternoon but was restored within few hours. also strange leak in bathroom, once reported was fixed. very comfortable beds, nice balcony. basic tv which could not watch in english ( but not there for the tv!) cold mini fridge. easy walk from ferry too!

This was my 1st time at Isla and was solo. I stayed at 4 locations, around the island to explore as much as possible. For location to the main downtown, restaurants, shopping, playa central public beach, this place is by the best. It was tidy, hot water, tv, wifi, mini fridge, all functioned perfectly the whole stay. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I felt very safe there. The pool area was very nice and great view. Sitting on my personal balcony watching the sunrise is so wonderful too.

Staff were very nice. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. Bathroom was somewhat different with having to step into shower area. Very open. Shower did not have any curtain that i can recall but think it was meant to be like that. We were on first floor close to check in desk and it was somewhat noisey at times. Beautiful view of the beach. They had nice sitting areas on the property and there was a walkway to walk along the beach.

The only thing that was good about this properties. It was right on the ocean. The staff was completely unfriendly… The lobby was completely dirty. I woke up in the middle of the night to get some water and there is a homeless person sleeping on the sofa in the Front entryway.

Quirky hotel with stunning location.

Rocamar is an older, bare bones, small sized hotel. Some people might not like it but we absolutely love it. Friendly staff (some speak limited English), clean rooms with a funky bathroom setup (hair dryer in the shower area), but the oceanfront location and balconies can’t be beat.

The best parts of this hotel are the proximity to everything fun and food.
The very best part is the view and the sound of the ocean right off the balcony.

Absolutely wonderful.

Problem is the room was:

1) unclean
2) limited towels and face cloths
3) internet didn’t work in room at all
4) tv was broken
5) safe was easily removed , just by lifting it out of the storage cupboard. It wasn’t attached to anything.

Loved the cat and proximity to ferry.

Amazing view and location, but room needs fixes

Excellent location. Amazing view. Good service. 2 lights didn’t work. The electrical outlet in the bathroom didn’t work. The sliding door doesn’t seal well so you can always hear the wind. The TV is a 13-14” monitor inside a sliding glass (I looks like an inexpensive replacement to what was there originally). I don’t expect it to have extras, i would give it a higher rating if the things in the room did work.
We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice.

One complaint I have is the step in the shower which does not help the water from getting onto the bathroom floor & can be dangerous when stepping out of the shower.

Beautiful place! Wish they didn’t change towels every day. Floors are very slick in the rooms so be careful in your bare feet. Front desk gals seemed a little bored with everything. Awesome location 3 blocks uphill from the ferry. Hot and cold filtered water was also a plus.

This was our fourth stay at Rocamar. I consider it a \"value\" hotel where any deficiencies can be overlooked because the price is right! The location is amazing, most rooms look right out onto the Atlantic ocean. The staff are great and always willing to help. Every room has at least one thing that doesn't work, is broken or missing. In room 15 there is no handle on the outside of the balcony door and one overhead light comes on at night when it is switched off. Staff fixed the security hook on the balcony door when we pointed it out to the maid. We realized we needed an extra day at the hotel and staff fixed that too. They also let us change rooms after our first night when we didn't like room 20. Hotel Rocamar would be our first choice again when we return to Isla Mujeres.

The Rocamar is very nice hotel, the wifi works best in the lobby area, but if you love the sound and sight of the ocean this is the place to stay, very convenient to all things walkable, grocery store just a few yards down the road, they have a small refrigerator in the room but would be nice if they added a microwave, all in all a great place to stay on yur vacation, yes we will be back.

The location is great with a nice view of the sea, although we looked at it over a flat roof.
The room was disappointing, not as modern as it looks in the photos. It’s very dated and scruffy, there was damp on our wall. The shower was not good and was cold throughout our stay despite telling reception staff. A chair would have been nice and 2 bedside tables instead of one. There was a fridge which was a bonus, use of the swimming pool was nice on our last day and we loved the resident cat.

Enjoyed our week long stay at the Rocamar. Great location. Easy walk to Centro with all of its restaurants and shopping and a short 10 minute walk to Playa Norte. We booked a sea view room with balcony and the view was beautiful. The room is basic, but clean. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked very well. Staff was friendly and helpful. There was some issue with water pressure during our visit. We enjoyed hearing the waves hitting the shore at night, but it might be a bit loud for those who are bothered by noise at night.

They dont guarantee Wi-Fi in the rooms even though the description says they have it. The room was old and door handle to room looked like it would fall off. The toilet didnt flush correctly we had to fill the garbage can with water to flush. Some of the reception people were nice others not so much.

I would stay again. I wish it were closer to the beach and I would make this my absolute go to stay. However, it is quite a walk to North Beach, which made the location less than ideal for me. Very clean property, felt safe and the view is spectacular!
