Isla Mujeres, the Island of Women, is a small tropical island rich in Mayan history, surrounded by powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, about 13 km off the coast of Cancún. This charming hotel is located in the north of this gem, just steps from a vibrant fishing village with shops and restaurants.
El Garrafon National Park and the El Meco Mayan Ruins are a 20-minute drive away. A security deposit of $150 is required upon check-in via credit card (Visa or Mastercard) and is refundable upon check-out.
Please note that smoking is prohibited by law anywhere on the hotel property. Guests are required to respect this law; otherwise, local authorities will be contacted.

Maria’s is a great place to stay! They provide free coffee, juice and toast/french toast daily. Buho’s is the beach bar connected to the hotel with direct access to the beach. You can rent golf carts right outside the hotel and there’s a fruit stand with fresh coconut/pineapple and massages on the beach! Always a great time!

The a/c was great and the beds were comfortable. The wifi was very weak and non-existent at times. The location was so amazing being that you're right on Playa Norte. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is in an excellent location, right in front of Playa Norte, which made it very convenient to enjoy the beach. The property has beautiful gardens that create a relaxing atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only downside was that the rooms felt a bit outdated and could use some updating. Overall, it was a pleasant stay thanks to the great location and beautiful surroundings.

This hotel was just what we needed. No frills room was clean, spacious and our balcony looked down the street straight to the beach. Nice little morning breakfast of toast/french toast, coffee and juice every morning at the attached restaurant. Extra for other breakfast items but all the food was spectacular. Steps to beach!

Beautiful property located right on the beach (very few options like that). Golf cart rental at the lobby desk. Great food and drinks at the restaurant. You can walk to many local restaurants and bars from the property. We stayed in the tower and had a balcony overlooking the street and beach access area. Room was clean and simple with bottled drinking water in the hall, a mini fridge and safe in the room. Staff were kind and helpful.

The staff was not great, the room was old and in need of refreshing. All of the electrical switches for lights and plugs were ancient. Yellowed, looked like someone smoked in it in the past. The tile floors had lots of chips in them. I really didn't like the transition from bathroom to bedroom. It was very tall like 8 inches from one floor to the other. It was treacherous at night. The cleaning staff was great.

We really enjoyed our 7 days at Maria's. This is one of the older properties near/on the beach, but privately owned and they take pride in it. The room was clean and everything worked as it should. Give the hot water a minute to reach the room and it will actually be too hot if not careful. We had a ground floor Cabana room near the pool and loved it! Nice outdoor private patio, good wifi and convenient for coming and going. The grounds are well kept by a gardener we saw almost every day. Room was cleaned almost every day, towels every second day and linens once during the middle of the stay. Seriously, who changes towels and linens daily at home? Plenty of filtered water offered in coolers in a little rotunda by the pool with a palstic pitcher and some glasses provided in our room which we then placed in the little fridge we had. Safe also worked well. If you wind your way to the beach side of the property there is a little gate to access the beach directly.

Room was dirty upon arrival. There was a plastic bag with something in it found under the bed. Rooms are very outdated and poor lighting. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well kept. The staff at the front check-in are not eager to help. We waited for a long time for anyone to come to the front reception desk. We found someone around the corner and they waved us away and proceeded to come to the front desk minutes later. You have to pay to use beach chairs..

Upon checking in, there was no one to greet us due to lobby renovations (which we were not warned about in advance and created a very hectic experience). On checking into the room, it had the strongest smell of mildew of any place we have ever stayed, and we could not stay for health reasons. We found other island accommodations, but the hotel declined to refund any money for the nights we didn't use. We were disappointed by our experience here.

If you want to be on the beach, have great service and no worries then this is the place to stay. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are cold and you can go on your porch and look at the water and listen to the waves, while coconuts fall from the trees. We stay here every time we come to the island and are NEVER disappointed! The friendliest and most trust worthy staff, who goes out of their way to make feel at home.

When we arrived we checked in and were then informed that the hotel was closed for renovations. We were put in another hotel farther from town on the third floor with no elevator. (We had specifically booked ground floor accommodation as my husband and I have mobility issues.). This is terrible business practice. I feel we should be compensated in some way.

Our room was basic, but for the price and location it was great! The lady who cleaned our room was AMAZING, we did tip her everyday too so that could make difference. The “other staff” was dismissive and really didn’t care if we were there or not. Remodeling so pool is a no go but there is an optional pool down the road we never went ocean to nice and close.

We normally stay at Ixchel and LOVE it but price wise couldn’t turn down a cheap quick trip. We rented chairs from the people right down the way for one day then were told about local place to rent the Tommy bahama chairs (that we never sat in always in the water). Had a massage daily by Anna and her team (down by ocean to the left) $50 a day! Love isla and taking morning ride on the golf kart around the island. A very good place to stay for your trip to Isla! Very walkable distance from shipping and a lot of dining options. You can rent a golf cart directly from the front desk as well. The only thing to be mindful of is that they don’t have any beach chairs so you will have to pay to sit on the beach on average about $25USD a person which includes food (to a specific limit) then you pay the difference if there is one. But the chairs are right on the beach! The food on the beach is also very good and a lot of healthy options (not just burgers/pizza).

Basic budget hotel, clean and comfortable, the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because, the water pressure in the shower made it very hard to shower and wash my hair, there wasn't a blow dryer in the room as stated in the description, my husband went and asked if they had one I could use, but it only blew cold air, they give beach towels that you can trade in every other day, same goes for towels in the room.

You can’t beat the location, and the rooms are decent sized although a bit outdated. We didn’t realize we would be across the street from the main hotel when we booked, which made it difficult to get to the pool. It would have been nice if they had a foot cleaning station between the beach and room, as it became tough to keep sand out of the room.

If you are looking for a clean place to crash after a day at the beach, with walkable bodegas and restaurants and street food, this place is for you. It’s very bare bones; the wifi sucks, the pool (while nestled into a beautiful, quiet, tropical garden) is warmer than a bath, and you’ll hear your neighbor. The shower pressure nearly scalped me, and all the linens are stained (most likely rust from the laundry). The staff was very nice, and they all spoke English better than my Spanish. They offer a free breakfast, which includes gas-station coffee, “juice,” and toast. But the beach is RIGHT THERE. Just walk outside and stumble right in. It checks all the boxes for a frugal, no-frill stay.
