First time at Excellence Maharas, and we spent the day on the beach. The service from Josue and Floricel was outstanding friendly, professional, attentive, and incredibly fast. They treated us with genuine kindness and made the entire experience feel special.
Our room was excellent as well comfortable, clean, and beautifully maintained.
What really impressed me was that the director and assistant director personally took time out of their busy day twice to ask how we were enjoying the facility. That final touch showed me this place truly cares about every guest.
Because of the way we were treated, we will absolutely return. Truly exceptional service all around. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was overall an excellent resort. It was very clean including the rooms. Staff were very friendly. The check in experience was great! The food was delicious, plenty of restaurants/food selection at this resort. We had a great time.

The reason for the 4 star and not a 5 star review:

I tried to contact the hotel directly before attending to confirm our reservation as we booked through Expedia. I was only able to speak to a call centre and I was told there was absolutely no way for me to speak to someone at the hotel and that there was no way to confirm the reservation as I had booked through a third party. I thought this was bizarre and made me feel uneasy not knowing our reservation was confirmed with the hotel directly.

Poolside drink service was slow and there were a couple occasions where we would order a drink and it didn't show (even with a tip).

This was our Honeymoon, we received a card to bring to a restaurant of our choosing for a romantic dinner which included a bottle of wine. Our waiter began to go over the wine menu and we made a decision. We were then asked if the wine was to be charged to our room, we declined as we thought a bottle was included with our experience. We were provided with a bottle of the house wine which seemed redundant as we could just order as many glasses of house wine as we wanted. The overall dinner experience wasn't anything special.

This resort was a bit too expensive for what it was.

Nice resort. Rooms are dated (some are renovated apparently) and housekeeping was spotty - some days our used glassware wasn’t removed and we weren’t restocked. Our fridge was left open 6 out of the 9 days we were there. Likes: the spa was amazing, very expensive but worth it. Great shows and nightlife. The food was generally very good. Spice was our favourite with The Grill a close second - and we are foodies. Pool service was consistently good.
Not so great: alcohol and cocktails were terrible. Often undrinkable unless you ordered something super simple. Watered down and no to shelf available unless you are Excellence. I even wondered if they replaced the half decent with cheap.

The room was beautiful the food was excellent but it is the service that brings us back each year. The staff is so OUTSTANDING! We have visited in Dec 2021 and Jan 2024 and this time in Jan 2026 was our third time. Even if there are clouds there is sunshine at EPM!!! The staff goes out of thier way to make the time SPECIAL!!!! they will do little things --like put flowers on your table or know you like a particular desert and save you the LAST ONE ! I They know if it is your last day at the resort and will do somethings special for you! The staff is so wonderful!!!! We will be back ! There are prettier places --but the service--that is what sets this resort apart from others

Disappointed in this resort. It is a beautiful resort, and the grounds are kept very clean however, rooms smell heavily of mildew. My suitcase, carry-on, luggage, and clothes came home wreaking of mildew. I’m sure it is because the air conditioner filters have never been changed. Couldn’t open the windows to air the room out because of all the mosquitoes. food at ALL the restaurants is mediocre at best. The best place was the coffee shop that offered fresh juices, coffees, and desserts. Concierge had a little interest in helping us with booking excursions and was preoccupied with whatever he was working on on his computer. Very unhelpful. In fact, most of the staff seemed untrained and could not answer questions about the resort. On top of all of this, the power went out three times while we were there with no announcement over the loudspeaker as to why. Guests were left in the dark with no explanation. Would not go back to this resort.

29M, traveling with 25F. Great experience and lovely resort. Out of the 5 resorts we’ve been to Mexico, this had the best food overall!!! The resort is large enough to feel like you have your own space even if it’s sold out.

Our room had a hot tub in it that overlooked the balcony and ocean—amazing! I’d definitely come here again. 5 nights minimum is perfect here.

We had an excellent stay at the Excellence Playa Mujeres during the Christmas holidays! The food was delicious, bars everywhere, the staff, and service were phenomenal. Stayed in their junior swim up room. I love ocean front rooms, but staying in a swim up is so convenient. It feels like your own villa, about 800 square feet, which is easily accessible to everything at the resort. The sand was silky smooth, with a beautiful beach! It had just rained for 2 days, so there was some seaweed, and the water was a bit murky. However, 2 days later, the ocean water was much clearer, warm, with less seaweed. It’s definitely a 5-Star Hotel! My most favorite all-inclusive!

Great staff! They're what makes the hotel what it is. Nice, cozy room, plenty of cable movies in English to watch. Food was good at restaurants. My only complaint is there is no lunch buffet. Only a sit down and order style at three of the restaurants for lunch and the menu is very limited. All three restaurants seem to offer the same type of food. It was very repetitive if you're staying on long trips.

Night entertainment was great. We had a great time! Lots of beach chairs, but guests seem to reserve chairs at 6:30am, so beware. Other than that, it was fine.

We had a wonderful stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres. Everything was beautifully maintained, the service was consistently attentive, and the overall atmosphere felt upscale and relaxing. The staff truly made the experience special, always friendly and professional. The food quality and variety were great, and the resort never felt crowded. While no place is absolutely perfect, this resort came very close, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, peaceful getaway.

This resort stated they had updated, however the update seems to be electronics mainly and small wall decor. We also had AC issues and were moved to a non updated room which unfortunately also had AC issues and wouldn’t go below 76 degrees in the room. Food sadly was also a let down as we tried four different restaurants and we left hungry to say the least. Overall I’d say they have awhile to go to renovate to make this resort back to what it once was. Priced right compared to other resorts in our opinion just needs some help from the entrance to the rooms.

The staff and service was great but after staying at 8+ different all-inclusive resorts in Cancun, we weren't that impressed and did not understand the hype. Their sister resort, Finest, is much better in our opinion. The food was okay. Lobster House was our favorite. Breakfast buffet was good. We didn't have to wait that long at restaurants. However, the wait time for food once we were seated was incredibly long. We would wait at least 30 mins for the appetizers then the entrees so one lunch/dinner takes 2 hours. The rooms were very nice.

We did call that down to get a new one. We did ask for some sort of room upgrade but that was not offered, but still gave 5 stars review. We will return.

Facilities are bit old but very clean. All the staff are super friendly. Enjoyed the activities and tours. Restaurants are good but the waiting time was a bit longer than expected. If you are planning attending activities in between the meals, check the opening hours and save some extra time. Overall good experience. Be mindful with potential mosquitoes and bugs on the beach.

I enjoyed so much about Excellence Playa Mujeres. The grounds are very clean, the staff is AMAZING, the rooms were overall pretty good but somewhat dated and we really enjoyed the entertainment. Food was overall pretty good except for the French restaurant, which was rather disappointing. The buffet breakfast, although a little limited for someone who doesn’t eat pork, was always so pleasant because of the staff! It was also great to meet good people from all walks of life. I would definitely recommend and return to this resort. My only issue really is with the Excellence brand as a whole. We were supposed to stay at their Oyster Bay property for our birthdays, but because of Hurricane Melissa, we felt it was unsafe. We were given the run around even though they have a hurricane policy. We were never taken care of and still decided to rebook the trip with Excellence. Hopefully at some point they will make this right because we would love to try all of their properties.

I visit Mexico 4–6 times a year and rarely leave reviews, but this resort was disappointing enough that I feel other travelers should know. I understand the usual all-inclusive rhythm—eat, relax, drink, watch a show, repeat—but this place missed the mark completely.

The resort was extremely crowded, and most of the staff seemed annoyed or overwhelmed any time we asked for something. For the price and quality this hotel advertises, the food was the biggest letdown. Not even the basics were good—not a decent burger, buffet, or simple snack. You’re better off spending a bit more and going to Atelier or a Hyatt. I trusted TikTok reviews and regretted it.

Service issues were everywhere. Bellboys took so long we ended up carrying our own bags. Our toilet stopped working. The room phone barely worked, and when room service did answer, they rushed us off the call. Our room even lost power randomly, and no one checked on us or explained anything—we just sat and waited for it to turn back on. The app wasn’t helpful, and every restaurant we tried was a disappointment. I didn’t meet a single staff member who seemed friendly or welcoming.

Even the spa, which is usually a highlight in Cancun, was rushed and underwhelming. The water journey felt half-hearted, like they just wanted to get it over with.

I don’t have anything against the hotel, but I want to share my experience so future travelers don’t waste their time or money. I won’t return to this location. I might consider their newe

The food is amazing, and the people are super warm and friendly. It’s such relaxed to stay here for 5 days. There are tons of activities here you can do, like water zomba, kayaking. I especially recommend the clinic tennis class!! Super great. The coach Alfonso is knowledgeable and passionate about teaching tennis. I do play tennis often but still learned a lot from him. Highly recommended! I definitely will come back!

The hotel was lovely but they had given me the wrong room the first night and didn’t put me into the correct room till the next day at almost 5pm ! My boyfriend kept calling the front desk and no one would answer his calls . I had called the day before to make sure that my room was available because I’ve had issues with this in the past and they confirmed that my original room was available and ready for my stay till we get there and they gave us a completely different room than I had booked . The fact that they didn’t answer the phones when you called was ridiculously annoying . The food and the restaurant weren’t that great for the price you pay for this all inclusive . The cleaning staff were amazing but in the first room we got no one ever showed up to clean it which was highly annoying as well .
