Overall, we enjoyed our vacation and appreciated the friendly staff and beautiful pool areas. However, there were several issues that affected our experience. Our room often had an unpleasant odor, and the bathroom shower had a persistent smell, noticeable wear and tear, and leaked water during use. The refrigerator did not stay cold, and we were disappointed with the mini bar selection. In the common dining areas, particularly at breakfast, many of the chairs appeared dirty and stained. We also felt that some of the alcoholic beverages lacked the strength and quality we expected from an all-inclusive resort. While we still had a good time overall, improvements in maintenance, cleanliness, and food and beverage quality would significantly enhance the guest experience.

Good service, not a lot of entertainment (specially if u go with kids). The food is great, but be careful, we aet at the mexican restaurant (caracol) and the service was good but they didn't tell us the wine bottle was not included and we ended up paying 130 for 2 bottles of wine, just make sure u ask for what's included. We assume that they were included because the previews day at dinner if was given to us free of charge. Hospitality is good but the hotel is not well maintained. Overall is was a good experience.

It’s our family vacation with children and grandchildren . We usually go to Tulum in Bahia P because of the privacy and less Chaos.
Quintana Roo have problem with seaweeds and Tulum have worst this month and Cancun have leas. So we look for a family friendly away from the chaotic hotel strip in Cancun .
.SLS have good reviews for both family and adult friendly resort. And it was right ! From day 1 to 5 our last day customer service were excellent . The whole resort are Very clean and very sanitary . Everywhere you go you can’t see any clatter.
Fabulous amenities from kids, family and adult pools to the Restaurants. The food were fantastic ! And most of all they have Cafe bar that serves all the coffee you want , with gelato and snacks . Plus they have n excellent smoothie bar .
By the way , all restaurants have an indoor and outdoor option to dine except the one near the pool . Excellent Breakfast buffet .
Always have family activities day and night .
I also want to thank to our housekeeper Fabiola who did a fantastic job keeping our room squeaky clean all the time .
Refilling our stocks of water and other drinks in the fridge .
Before I forget , it’s my first time to have a room with espresso machine , how about that ? 😍
The bars have excellent and have premium choices of alcoholic drinks.
We highly recommended this Luxury resort for both adults and family with kiddos . A very kid friendly resort.
We surely comeback here!

My stay at this hotel unfortuantely was cut short and not enjoyable as me and my wife got sick from something we ate on the 2nd night there ( union steakhouse?). I suffered from severe diarrhea and vomitting a few hours after our dinner and pepto did not help one bit. I am still suffering from diarrhea ( 6th day) but i am thankful to be feeling much better and hydrated as I was miserable up until Friday that i could still not consume much food or liquids. Overall, the hotel looked well maintained , the wonderful ladies from the kids club ( Ariana, Brenda, Fanny and Wendy) kept are little ones entertained and engaged which i truly appreciate and grateful for as I struggled to try to and enjoy our stay. The wonderful staff that cleaned the rooms was amazing and helped keep our room in tip top shape.

note to parents that are taking their children to the water park: The water slides are shut down at 5pm, however, the pool area for kids is open until 7pm so plan accordingly.

We travel to cancun every year and the one time i choose not to protect our stay, we got sick and had to waste a lot of money to get home early. Lesson learned. I recommend anyone traveling abroad to always insure their trip for emergencies.

Friendly and helpful staff. Check in was quick. Our room was ready very quickly.
Well maintened property, very clean. Good food, nice restaurants, the beach was great, small amount sea weed was removed daily. I like the ocean, spent most of the time on the beach, which was the best of the last few vacations. The resort is great for children. A lot of activities during the day, around the pool or in teens or children area. Evening events, dancing. Felt really focused on children. But at the same time it felt comfortable and quiet for adults. Monkey bar, cigar lounge, ice cream, coffee, health drinks, fast food at the pool area and on the beach. Very good resort. Highly recommend.

The rooms were nice, clean, and spacious. We only had the chance to try one restaurant, Caracol, and the food there was very good.

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy the buffet very much. The dining area was quite small, very hot, and there were often long lines. There was also a strong sulfur smell around the property, possibly due to the seaweed.

We travel to Mexico frequently, and compared to other resorts, the food was not one of the highlights of this hotel. The beach area is rather small, and the music around the pool was extremely loud. However, it was still a nice place to relax on the beach. The water was much darker than at other resorts we have visited.

The resort also felt somewhat crowded and compact. We did not like the restaurant reservation system since it is not available through the app. This makes it difficult to get reservations, especially if you are staying for only a short time.

On a positive note, the evening shows were very good and entertaining, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

The beach stinks, the building is overlooking a Marina which sticks so bad we could not sit out on the balcony. You can also smell it from the pool. Staff service was inconsistent, some were helpful some were rude. Spa and other similar services were double cost compared to other comparable resorts. The only plus is that the food was very good

The resort was fantastic, and the food was excellent. However, our biggest disappointment was the room service. I’m not sure if our room was assigned to a new, inexperienced staff member, but they missed daily service twice. They never replaced the coffee capsules or snacks, and they never did a thorough cleaning including sinks. We won’t be returning to the resort only because of a bad room service.

Booked a swim out room through Expedia but received a message from the hotel 1 hour before our flight departure and was told that the swim out room we reserved would not be available. Definitely bummed that we were notified just 1 hour before flying to Cancun. We arrived at the property and we were given another room in the elite area. The rooms are nice, beds are comfortable, linens and towels are good quality.

The only issues I have is they need more entertain for the adults and the bar needs to be open until 1am not 11pm. Also the website mentioned 18 restaurants which I did not see.

We went from may 19-25 the property was fantastic a lot restaurants and different options for lunch one thing I will recommend book your restaurants once you get to the hotel because other wise you will have to eat were the they have availability all restaurants are really good we tried Union,Lotus,Caracol and Filia the Italian and try to book early 6-7 so you see the night time entertainment beach is decent but really close to the beautiful waters of Playa Mujeres our stay was really good very safe place the resort for me is 100 % recommended and I will go back in the future thanks for your amazing work to SLS team in keeping your guests happy

The food at this all inclusive is off the walls!!! Totally exceeds the typical all inclusive food I’ve experienced. The beach was well maintained. The room was absolutely gorgeous and room service was on point! Bartenders at Twiggy’s were very nice and always served up tasty drinks, including the best piña colada i’ve ever had! Only thing is I wish there was more poolside seating as we had to loop around our last two days to find a spot, and I wish there was like live music and dancing daily in the lobby or open area downstairs at night.

I’m usually not a huge fan of all-inclusive resorts, but SLS Playa Mujeres completely changed my mind. This is a true 5-star experience and I’d happily return again soon.

From arrival, the service stood out. Roberto, Mario, and the bellhop team welcomed us with cold towels after our taxi ride, which immediately set the tone. The lobby is stunning — spacious, modern, and beautifully designed — and check-in was quick and seamless. We stayed in Tower 1 with an amazing ocean view. The rooms are gorgeous with a clean, modern aesthetic, a huge bathroom, great storage, and a bed perfectly positioned to enjoy the view.

The resort grounds are beautiful and incredibly photo-worthy. The beach was fantastic with plenty of loungers and excellent beach service. Huge thanks to Leo and the beach crew for keeping us fed and hydrated all day!

The food exceeded expectations across the board. Breakfast service from Giovanna and Jonathan was always warm and welcoming, and lunches at Cleo and Twiggy were consistently fresh and beautifully presented. Karen and Berni were so attentive and kind.

Dinner was equally impressive at Fi’lia, Caracol, Union, Cleo, and Lotus. Special thanks to Fatima, Ricardo, Lin, and Arturo for making every evening memorable.

And finally, Sole Bar became our favorite spot thanks to Justin and Laynez, who made incredible custom cocktails for us throughout the trip.

Already looking forward to returning!

My partner and I have been here twice: Once with family, and the second as a couples trip. Both times were great experiences! The staff were so kind/friendly throughout our stays. The food at both the buffet and restaurants is very good, definitely above the norm/average of most all inclusives. Special shout out to our SLS Elite butler, Angel, made our 2nd stay even better than our first: Attentive and professional; when I had an issue with reservations, he made sure to come personally to rectify. Thank you again Angel, and thank you again SLS staff for an amazing weekend!

The SLS Playa Mujeres is a stunning, new resort with beautiful rooms and consistently friendly staff. A major highlight is the ability to order food and snacks directly to the pool, eliminating the need to wait in lines. Free room service is incredibly convenient, especially for \"nap-trapped\" parents or late-night cravings. The concierge service was excellent, always promptly delivering requests (tip: ask for robes and slippers!). The food quality is consistently good, easily an 8/10, and the beach boasts clean, soft sand. The resort's smaller size is a big plus; it's easily navigable with pools, the beach, and restaurants all conveniently located close to one another. The kids pool are is great for babies and small children alike.

Small con: no swim up bar in main pool

However, the resort's handling of dinner reservations was a significant drawback. A la carte restaurants require reservations (there's no dinner buffet), and the system is severely disorganized. Immediate booking upon arrival is essential due to limited availability, especially for larger groups. Despite being promised seating together, our group was frequently separated, sometimes even placed on opposite sides of the same restaurant. This was particularly frustrating at the Mexican restaurant, where visible empty tables suggested more flexible seating was possible. Even after complaining and clarifying, our group, celebrating two birthdays during our seven-day stay, was only able to sit together once.

I recommend that you don’t try to visit this all inclusive resort as not everything was all inclusive even for the ELITE Guests. Expedia definitely upload some false information about this resort. The dining restaurants was extremely hard to book with no options to sit down and eat if you can’t find any booking for the restaurants as the buffet is only opened for breakfast and other 3 restaurants are also only opened for lunch. So if you miss out on the booking, you have no other options to eat with your friends or family other than room services. I had a terrible experiences in this resort. Under staffed. Staffs are unhelpful. Most staffs weren’t fully trained. This resort was definitely small. I was able to walk one end to the next week within 5-10 minutes. Overall , I think this resort is definitely not worth the money.

We loved the hotel, super clean, food was amazing and very kid friendly yet good for adults as well.
One thing I have to say is that rooms are not too noise proof. I heard the furniture moving from upstairs rooms, in the bathroom I heard the neighbors showering,laughing flushing etc. If you’re looking for a restless room it might fall short from my experience.
But having said that everything else met my expectations specially the food and service.

I recently stayed at SLS Playa Mujeres and unfortunately left very disappointed overall. For a property marketed as a five-star luxury resort, too many details were missed, and in hospitality, the small details are what separate a true luxury experience from an average one.

One of my biggest frustrations was not being informed upfront about the “elite” upgrade package option. Whether intentional or not, it created the feeling that there was always another tier you were expected to pay for in order to get the “real” experience. Even then, from what I could tell, the differences didn’t seem substantial enough to justify it.

The room details were surprisingly underwhelming. For a family of four, the snack setup consisted of a single pack of Skittles and two small packs of Chips Ahoy. That may sound minor, but those are exactly the types of thoughtful touches guests expect from a luxury resort — and they were simply absent here.

The food was mediocre at best, and nearly every dining experience felt designed to push expensive upgrades. You already pay a premium to stay at the resort, yet somehow you constantly feel nickel-and-dimed. One dinner ended up costing me $250 for a steak and another $300 for a bottle of wine. By the end of the trip, I had spent more on meal “add-ons” than the actual cost of my four-day, three-night stay. The price gouging was excessive and honestly left a bad taste in my mouth.

Another major issue was how inconvenient the concierge system was organize

Lo mejor fue haber decidido celebrar mi cumpleaños en este lugar junto a mi pareja.
Sin embargo, lo NO TAN BUENO es que no se brinda información clara desde el inicio: ninguno de los restaurantes especiales tenía disponibilidad ni opciones de reserva. Considero que esto debería informarse al momento de confirmar la estadía. En nuestro caso, habíamos reservado con más de dos semanas de anticipación, lo que nos habría permitido gestionar estas reservas sin inconvenientes.
Como resultado, nos vimos obligados a “celebrar” durante los tres días en los restaurantes regulares, como cualquier otro huésped, lo cual fue bastante decepcionante considerando la ocasión especial.
Quisiera destacar positivamente al joven que atendía en la playa: sumamente servicial, amable y siempre con una gran sonrisa. Asimismo, la persona encargada de la habitación fue excelente, muy atenta y eficiente en todo momento.
Entre los aspectos a mejorar, el servicio de WIFI, ya que no está disponible en todas las áreas del hotel.
Adicionalmente, contratamos el servicio de jet ski. Un bote nos trasladó al hotel contiguo, donde se realizaba la actividad. No obstante, una vez finalizado el tiempo de uso, tuvimos que esperar aproximadamente 45 minutos para que la embarcación regresara por nosotros. Durante ese tiempo, no hubo coordinación ni responsables claros, ya que el personal se limitaba a trasladar la responsabilidad entre sí, sin ofrecer una solución adecuada.

The property looks nice but for a so-called 5 star resort lacks attention to details.
The pools, restaurants and food are great which give a luxurious feel but the remaining amenities are average. We had a 4 night stay and kids activities like Zipline and Rock climbing were unavailable during the entire stay which raises questions about their family friendliness. Our 6 yo soon got bored after couple of days of pools and beach. We had mentioned our kids birthday celebration on our reservation and there was absolutely no acknowledgement when we entered the room which was disappointing. They never replenished in-room snacks during the entire stay.
The rooms have a silly see through glass separating the bathroom which causes privacy issues for a family room. The wider good areas of the beach are reserved for elite guests and they sat empty. Rest of the guests were crowded in a narrow strip of the beach.
A 5 star all-inclusive family resort needs to provide better service. I'll skip this one the next time.

All is well until the hotel decided to host Passover for about 1500 people that were coming in and started shutting down our accommodations. We ended up with three restaurants left on our last two days because they were accommodating the group coming in. They also forgot about their regular guest and were more attentive for the ones coming in, which was very disappointing.

This was a sub par stay for me maybe because I stayed during the week. Drinks at the bar were basic - the Lotus restaurant was disgusting. The Steak house was better but still just ok. Room service options are ok.

Overall if you’ve never really been anywhere or experienced all inclusive, this is a basic start.

If you’re traveling with kids this would be ideal - the kids amenities are decent.

Loved our stay at SLS. All of the staff were amazing especially the bartenders in the Monkey Bar and in the pool bar. The staff bringing drinks on the beach were amazing as well and work so hard. The sand was great, the lounge chairs were fantastic and plentiful. Not a resort where you have to get up at 6am and save spots. Also, no towel cards, amazing and please never change it. The food at Ziggys was amazing, best guacamole ever. The booked restaurants were hit and miss, the Mexican food was not great, and most of the restaurants take 2 hours to eat and the food comes warm at best. The really only complaint was the music by the adult pool. It’s never ending overly loud and no one wants techno and house music from 10am-4pm. We just want to relax by the pool and on the beach. You can’t even drown out the music with headphones. I heard so many complaints by so many people, we asked but nothing was ever done about it. It’s ok to party by the pool but no one was into the music being played. Other than that, would highly recommend, but if the music doesn’t change it would probably stop us returning to this resort it was that bad.

While they had alot of fun we didn’t feel as though this was luxury. We had heard from ppl who were there last year that the food was amazing but we did not have the same experience. The food was acceptable. We do not usually stay in all inclusives so we have a higher standard in regards to food but it will still disappointing.
Also there was no lazy river.
The adult pool was very nice, the kids club is fun and my son enjoyed the teens club as well. Overall was a good vacation but don’t expect amazing food.

In two words: Absolutely outstanding!
We were a large group (8 adults and 3 kids) and had a fantastic stay at SLS Playa Mujeres. The property is beautiful and impeccably maintained, with an elegant yet very convenient layout. Everything feels thoughtfully designed and easy to navigate.
The food deserves special recognition. We dined at five restaurants—Bungalow (thank you, Tony!), Fi’lia, Union, Cleo, and Caracol (thank you, Valentin and Fernando!). Every meal was excellent, with delicious cuisine and truly outstanding service. The breakfast buffet at Market is the best we’ve experienced at any resort—impressive variety and quality.
Other highlights include two well-equipped 24-hour gyms, a great coffee shop with pastries and poolside ice cream until 10 PM, and a separate smoothie spot. The kids’ pool is fantastic—full of fun and perfect for families. The bars are equally impressive, each with its own beautiful atmosphere and consistently excellent cocktails.
And I saved the best for last: the staff. From the Concierge Desk to the beach and pool servers, everyone goes out of their way to make your stay memorable.
A heartfelt thank you to Adriana Reygadas, Manager of Guest Services. When my son lost his phone, she personally reviewed hours of security footage, identified the transport van, contacted the company and driver, and had the phone back in our hands the next day. Her dedication went far beyond expectations.
Treat yourself and stay at SLS Playa Mujeres—you’ll love it.

Resort did a very good job of keeping children out of adult only sections. Breakfast buffet was awesome for service and food selection/quality. Felt very secure at all times at the resort.

Cons: Very difficult to get restaurant reservations (no availability at any of the restaurants for 3 of the 7 evenings we were there). Poor internet service in room. Last two days couldn't get TV reception and room phone didn't work so couldn't contact the front desk via that method. Pool was too cold for several days of our stay so we couldn't use the beautiful swim up bar or pool. Hot tubs not hot either. No adult only table at the separately purchased beach BBQ (could purchase a separate small table for $40 USD!). Would be nice to have an adults only section at the breakfast/brunch buffet area.

We just spent a week at this amazing hotel with our baby, toddler, and family. The hotel is very family friendly but is well set up for couples and all ages. The staff were all so kind and accommodating. I had to wash my baby bottles everyday and they delivered extra water bottles whenever I needed them. They even offered to sterilize them for me. The fitness clubs and classes were amazing. The food was outanding at all the restaurants. I’ve never had food this good at an all inclusive. Every morning you were offered a sparkling wine at the breakfast buffet. We especially liked the lunch buffet that was set up by the beach everyday if we didn’t feel like heading to one of the restaurants to do lunch. They had lots of taco options there and seating on the sand under the shade of the trees.
The beach is beautiful white soft sand and the water was crystal clear.
We also upgraded to cabanas at the family pool and had everything catered all day.
We didn’t spring for the Elite membership and don’t think we missed out on much there.
Our swim up rooms were cozy and clean. The outdoor pool from our room is not heated but we dipped our feet in and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.
We also had a massage at the Ciel Spa on the resort. This was one of the best and most relaxing massages I’ve ever had. Shout out to Liz who was my masseuse. If we hadn’t travelled with kids I would have went back to the spa for more treatments.
We hope to come back to this hotel one day. It’s a true 5 star.

Their is not setting for baby stroller is pool side.
No kids urinal in not of restrooms.

All events should be till 10 pm but some of them lasted till 1030 and no reaction or even apology from staff.

Very limited room service menu

I will not repeat.
It is not kids friendly at all

The resort is beautiful & the staff exceed all expectations. We stayed Mon- Thrs so the resort may have been less busy than usual. The Elite status does not seem to be worthwhile. The staff are equally attentive to all guests. One small disappointment was I was told before we checked in that they would do “something special” for our anniversary. But, nothing happened even though they confirm “a special surprise” at check in. Not necessarily a deal breaker but just goes to show a lack of follow through. Otherwise, I could not think of anything negative to say.

Do not book this resort if you are expecting a five-star or VIP experience.

Pools are not heated, which made them unusable during colder weather, including the swim-up room we paid extra for. The jacuzzis were barely warm and not enjoyable.

Service was extremely inconsistent, with long waits at restaurants and little acknowledgment from staff. This is also NOT a couples-friendly resort. It is heavily focused on families, with very limited adults-only areas. The room walls are paper thin, and hallway noise from children running, yelling, and crying starts early in the morning. Even the “romantic” wine cellar dinner was loud, crowded with families, and far from intimate.

We are Expedia Gold members and specifically chose this hotel because it is listed as a VIP property. No upgrade was offered despite room availability, and the only VIP benefit was a 20% spa discount. Other VIP hotels typically provide welcome amenities or personalized recognition, which was completely missing here.

The property looks beautiful in photos, but the service, comfort, and overall experience do not match five-star or VIP expectations. Travelers looking for luxury, relaxation, or a romantic stay should strongly consider other options.

First night the view was horrible. They put us in a horrible room because they make less money when you book through expedia. We complained because our ocean view was literally totally blocked by buildings. I travel a lot and see this happening more and more by using expedia you get the bad room.
I complained and they gave us a free upgrade for the remaining two nights

We were so excited for an all inclusive experience with SLS but this property fell short on so many levels. The food and beverage selection and execution was terrible. Several of our meals came out unseasoned, undercooked or overcooked and just inedible. Many things were not included in the “all inclusive” even though we had the top tier package. We paid extra for coconut water by the pool, sake with our Asian dinner and only one wine was available without an up charge at most restaurants. To top it off, the first night we were there, there was a “comedian” as entertainment for the guests. The “comedian” was a Trump impersonator that spewed hateful, racist, discriminatory “jokes” for over an hour. It was appalling that an SLS property would allow this. Regardless of beliefs, a hotel resort is not an appropriate venue for what seems like a comedic take on a politically rally. We were so unhappy with our experience we left early.
A couple of positives warranting 2 stars: The property itself is beautiful and well kept. The staff was very kind and hardworking.
Overall, this is absolutely not a 5 star resort and doesn’t even come close to comparing to the experience at other SLS properties. They need a few years to get it together and learn how to operate as an all inclusive. 0/10 would not recommend.

Most of the staff was great, the food was absolutely excellent although the Italian restaurant was my least favorite, the facility was very nice. It was very relaxing and I enjoyed myself. However, there was not much to do on some nights. There’s no club or casino so I would say this resort is more about relaxation plus there’s lots of kids. Around the fourth night we did become bored, but it was OK because we were there for relaxation overall I enjoyed myself.

⭐️ 0/5 – Safety Failures and No Accountability

We booked SLS Playa Mujeres through Expedia and paid extra for an SLS Elite room, expecting a five-star experience. Instead, our short long-weekend stay was ruined by repeated safety failures, severe understaffing, and lack of accountability.

Our son has a tree-nut allergy, communicated in advance. Despite this, he was served Nutella chocolates, a dish with pine nuts, and after raising the issue, nuts again for a third time — any could have caused a medical emergency.

The resort was understaffed, especially at breakfast and pools/beaches. Elite seating was unavailable, breakfast was slow, our room wasn’t ready on arrival, and no welcome drink was offered.

We asked to speak with the hotel manager, which never happened. An assistant manager on WhatsApp also never responded. The only goodwill offered was a late checkout and a pool cabana, far below what was needed.

Based on our experience, SLS Playa Mujeres is not safe for families with allergies and does not deliver an Elite, five-star experience.
