I booked Secrets Playa Mujeres for my anniversary, expecting luxury. Instead, I got a 4-day construction zone with broken amenities. We paid for a swim-out room but couldn't use it once. Maintenance and management admitted the heating system was broken due to a recent reopening. It never worked. Even the public hot tubs were brick-cold; watching staff stick thermometers into freezing water while we waited was a joke.
After complaining, we were moved to a new room only to be woken by loud construction—drilling and banging on concrete right by the Preferred lounge. The showerhead was also broken, and despite reporting it, no one cared.
Worst of all, this was our anniversary. I saw doors decorated with “Just Married” or “Happy Birthday” ribbons, but we received zero recognition. It felt incredibly alienating to be ignored while others were celebrated.
The “All-Inclusive” dining is a myth. They open restaurants based on guest volume to save money. I could only access 3 out of 9 options because the rest were shuttered. To top it off, the staff felt biased and unwelcoming, making the atmosphere uncomfortable.
Bottom Line: Between the freezing pools, construction noise, closed restaurants, and the lack of basic hospitality, this was a total waste of money. They are cutting corners at the guest's expense. Avoid this resort if you actually want what you paid for.

Had to change rooms. The original room had alot of broken parts. Party cancun crowd checked in on the same day was not a peaceful atmosphere as advertised. Food was 90% bad. The property is beautiful and clean!! Our room was spacious and also very clean. However, the design of the vanity in the restroom was a bit user unfriendly. Beside the fresh fruit, the rest of the food was mediocre. In my humble opinion, even the food in the nicer restaurants (seafood, Italian, Hibachi, etc.) was not very authentic or delicious. The drinks are also watered down- I suggest you taste your cocktail first. If you don't get easily frightened of leaving the resort, please do so. It is the only way to get decent, authentic, fresh food.

The resort was huge. I loved my beachfront room w its own infinity pool. The preferred beach beds were lovely. The preferred club was worth it. Oceana for breakfast was awesome. A little noisier than I typically like, but it was ok. Restaurants good but need more vegetarian options. Don’t go on the trip to Isla Mujeres as it was very crowded and tacky.

This was the 2nd worst resort we have ever stayed at. We are so disappointed and spent so much money that we feel was a waste. No upgrade was offered to us even though it was a VIP access hotel. We had to ask to upgrade to a swimout room. We had been traveling and playing hard for 14 days and wanted to relax for a couple of days and catch up on sleep before returning home. Even though their website and Expedia showed that they had king swim outs available, they claim that none were available and are only option was in the preferred club area. We decided to spring for it because we wanted our own swim out pool and they put us in an end unit that are supposed to have bigger pools. The pool was tiny and it was absolutely freezing. I asked if they could turn up and they sent somebody to check and said they'd turn it up 2° lol! It was so cold that it was unusable and it was over 90° there so the pool was pretty cool to not be able to use it. It was filthy and hadn't been cleaned and had scum on top of the water as well as lots of leaves. Two days in a row, employees entered our room without knocking. One time I was changing to get in the shower and it was very distressing. The AC did not cool lower than 74 and there are multiple broken items in our room. The tv remote didn't work. They disabled the buttons on the phone so that you had to use the tablet in the room which wouldn't hold a charge. But the timeshare folks call constantly. Staff were rude and uncaring. We won't be back

The weather wasn’t great the entire week, so we didn’t get the true experience of a tropical vacation- no fault of the resort. The beach was gorgeous with a close by bar and plenty of seating. The pool was nice, but beach chairs were snapped up early and the staff didn’t really help out with this. Drinks and food were readily available. The entertainment area is being upgraded - not fully open-and wasn’t the best for our group. We enjoyed the bands in the Rendezvous lounge though.
Food was not of the quality of the Secrets Akumal location we went to last year.
Tried to go to Dreams- sister location- but found the restaurant staff very unfriendly and the Gaucho restaurant inaccessible- it was closed even when the app said it was open and the day it was open the wait was 90 minutes. The spa was lovely. The fitness center adequate. I really hope they can organize the tennis/pickleball with a pro and sign ups for lessons or play. A great tennis center within walking distance is the Rafa Nadal Center. Another guest told me about that.
All in all- I wouldn’t recommend a stay until the renovation is complete- 4/25 to12/25. Hard to judge or criticize because they are working to improve the property- but we were a bit disappointed for this vacation. Hopefully they will work to improve the sports complex, food and activities.

This property is very overrated and advertised wrong! Half the restaurants were not open and would rotate days being open. Coffee shop advertised being open 24 hours, was not. There was no sports bar, was \"coming soon\". The room was not very nice and foliage outside by patio with mosquitoes so could not use. The drinks at the pool were very diluted down... could do many shots and not even feel any alcohol. We were very disappointed with this property and vacation.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with secrets. The staff, dining options and property were awesome. One suggestion would be to try and streamline the key collection/luggage process as we were told to be at rendezvous at 3 to collect our key, and it wasnt in sight. I had to go to the front lobby to request it. Overall 4.5 stars and we will definitely not hesitate to stsy at a secrets in the future.

This was my second stay at this resort. I came back because the of beach. Beautiful soft sand, soft currents, and little seaweed. This resort is closing in April for renovations. There are a lot of things that need fixing. The staff works hard to make everyone happy. I'll be back.

I Extremely Disappointing Stay at Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort. My expectations for a relaxing and luxurious vacation were unfortunately met with a series of disappointments and inconveniences.

From the moment I arrived, I experienced the following issues:

Unacceptable Room Conditions: dirty room upon arrival, broken fixtures, pest infestations, persistent unpleasant odors, etc.]
Subpar Service: a long wait times, unhelpful staff, unfulfilled requests, etc.]
Disappointing Amenities: issues with amenities, e.g., overcrowded pools, malfunctioning equipment, unsanitary conditions, etc.]
Noise Disturbances: loud music, construction, inconsiderate guests, etc.]
Food Quality Issues]: unappetizing meals, unsanitary food handling, etc.]
These issues significantly impacted my vacation and caused considerable stress and disappointment. I attempted to resolve these matters with the staff during my stay, but my concerns were not adequately addressed.

As a result of this unacceptable exper

I need all my money back because apart I came to get sick and my partner devoted to stress and how sanitary the whole place and the food are.

Great Service, Beautiful Resort, but Food Could Be Better

We recently stayed at Secrets Playa Mujeres the week before Christmas and had a wonderful, relaxing time. The resort is exceptionally clean, and the service was fantastic throughout our stay. A highlight was the food at Fusion, located in the neighboring Dreams resort—we highly recommend trying the beef tenderloin; it was phenomenal!

The resort felt almost like a private getaway since it wasn’t crowded during our visit. We never struggled to find chairs at the pool or a Bali bed, and golf carts to and from the resort were always quick and easy. The pools were beautiful, and we were lucky to have great weather, with only one rainy day.

The main downside of our stay was the food at Secrets, which was below average compared to other all-inclusive resorts we’ve visited. However, we understand the resort is undergoing renovations soon, and we’re hopeful that food quality will improve as part of the updates.

Overall, Secrets Playa Mujeres offers a serene and service-oriented experience, with excellent amenities and the added bonus of access to the Dreams resort. If they can elevate the dining at Secrets, it will truly be a standout destination!

The facility is broken in 2 parts to move between the 2 you must use and golf cart driven by staff (very friendly) dinners wait time 1 hr plus Food excellent. Had to call 4 times to stock fridge and coffee. Facility was clean but run down. They did say They were going to shut down for maintenance. No concierge on lower level unless you pay extra for executive club (we did not) If you do not reserve a lounge chair around the pool at 7:30 AM you are lot of luck.
entertainment was \"up the hill\" and our impression was it was poor and it starts at 10 :30 and not every night. only 1 bar in evenings at pool area .
As you enter resort you spoke to a nice gentleman who offers you lots of free stuff if you \"tour\" a sister facility. Totally a time share scam. WE did not drink the kool aid

I’m inlove with Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resorts. Most especially the concierge named Paola who is very very helpful with communicating with the locals and our reservations of tour and shuttle to the airport. I highly recommend the people to try this resort out. I would say the small hiccups of the resort would be when it rains heavy, it floods (maybe that’s why they’re closing next year to renovate) and also the food service during dinner (they’ll be rushing you to order and taking the plate out of the table if you’re not finish) just needs a little improvement. But overall, from the accommodation to the staffs they are all top notch and I can’t wait to come back next time!

Our Junior Suite was comfortable and impeccably clean, with a lovely partial view of the ocean that we enjoyed every morning.

The dining options were wonderful, offering a variety of delicious meals that catered to all our tastes. We particularly enjoyed the different themed restaurants, each providing a unique dining experience.

The activities and entertainment were plentiful, with something for everyone to enjoy. From beach volleyball to evening shows, we were never bored.

The beach and pool areas were very nicely kept up, providing a beautiful and relaxing environment. There were always plenty of lounge chairs available, and the poolside service was exceptional.

The service quality and staff members truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. Every request was handled promptly and with a smile.

My friends and I spent a few days at Secrets Playa Mujeres, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff was extremely pleasant. Juan from the Barefoot Grill was awesome. He always made sure to say hello and chat when he saw me. The food was terrific, the highlight of the dining establishments was the Bordeaux restaurant (Mario is quite the character).

The pool and beach areas were well maintained. The rooms were a bit dated, apparently they will be renovating the resort soon, which is a good idea. The doors to the back patio were tough to open, and there was some funky odors in certain areas, not a huge issue, but still something to note. Overall, I would rate this a 4.5 out of 5, but as a half star is not an option, I marked it down as a 4

As a group of young couples (8) people we had a very pleasant time with our stay. I would say the best time is when they had group activities IE: volleyball, trivia. All of the staff that I felt with are excellent! Especially the three guys who hosted the volleyball throughout the week. The golf cart drivers are amazing and had great personalities I felt like the banter with the staff had really good chemistry. We had a swim out room and the resort does need some maintenance as we had air and water bubbles coming up from behind the drywall. Which I know I’ve read is happening this upcoming year. The food/drink options are phenomenal. Only thing on that is trying to reserve a spot at the hibachi grill was difficult and only half our group got the opportunity to attend it. But overall 9/10 on our stay. Thanks for a great trip and stay!

My husband and I enjoyed our vacation, there was lots on construction happening in the facility, and even though there were areas of the site that need some TLC the overall state of the facility it really nice, the swim out was really small for our preferred room, the food was good but not seasoned as much as we would like but it was cooked well, the entertainment team was the best, Brian, sexy Felix, Hose were fantastic. Thank you secrets for making our 20th anniversary the best.

I liked it all, the choice of food plus access to the other resort was a plus. I didn't love the golf carts but the transport was fast most of the time you didn't have to wait more than 5 mins. View of ocean was nice water was warm and the preferred club drinks were much better I liked the beefeater strawberry gin.
