Well maintained property. Our room was spacious and was kept clean with daily housekeeping service. Fridge was well stocked. Most of the staff were friendly, though most of the restaurants and the pool area seemed like they could use more staff. The restaurants that were open only for dinner were pretty small, so make sure to make reservations as soon as you check in. For some reason, it was always warm in the restaurants (poor a/c or ventilation?). The buffet was great… but if you stay for a week, food choices get to be repetitive. Food at Swichi and Mamma Mia were delicious! Nightly shows and live music were entertaining! Overall, we had a great stay.

This hotel is beautifully designed. The beach, pools and restaurants are all very nice and conveniently placed. This resort is geared more for families with young children or couples who don't drink and are looking to relax. The daily activities are not for everyone.
We were bummed out about the service in the restaurants and the pool side. The food was just ok. We found better options in the buffet along with better and more attentive service.

The rooms are nice and spacious.
Room service is slow.
I personally would not return to this hotel.

We stayed at the resort May22nd through May 31st.

First, this is our 2nd time here at the hotel. We stayed at the sister resort in Puerto Andenrsous in 2025 and we are booked to return to that resort in Sept 2026 - IMO its the better of the two hotels, even as a older hotel, its just a better experiuence.

I am sad to say im very dissapinted in my expeirnece at the hotel. We were given the wrong wrist bands, placed in the wrong room/building and when all uncovered it was almost as if we were the ones who made this mistake. Was an interesting expesrience this time around and more than likely our last stay here -

Not to say that the waiters/waitserss at the pool, in all resturants, coffe bar, etc werent excllcent and willing to do whatever was needed. Everyone, outside of a few, were amazing and helpful.

Zero entertainment during the day, No shows at night , bar on the beach is slow far and not complete. The rooms were really clean no complaints very hardworking staff. However, some nights we never received our room service we had to call or go to the lobby and it would take 2 hours. Our friends also got their airpods stolen by their housekeeper, like I said no complaints for my room but unfortunately be careful. All food was good but Italian gave me a stomach ache

I've been going to costa mujeres for the last 3 years at different resorts. This was the first one we came to. We have been this two other resorts that have a more known name. However neither one of those top Catalonia. Catalonia was and is our favorite. The food is unmatched with the variety they offer whether in restaurants or the trucks and grab and go by the pool. The Mexican restaurant was our favorite. Jasiel was our server at the Mexican restaurant and he was so amazing and left a mark on us that we still remember him 3 years later and wanted to go visit him from the other resorts. The pools were amazing. The swim up suites were great. The servers all around the pool were phenomenal and so efficient. We definitely will be coming back and can't wait.

My boyfriend and I decided to stay at this resort for our first vacation and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. We particularly appreciated the water purification as we did not hesitate to drink the water or brush our teeth. The staff was extremely helpful and nobody was pushy. The online booking for a restaurants can be a little tricky, but we were able to find a table last minute at most places.

This hotel is good in general. There are a few things to mention. The good: Beautiful landscape and gardens, everywhere you look is green and flowering. The rooms are big and modern looking. The pools are delicious, I am not sure but I think they are heated. The staff is very friendly and polite. The thing that most impressed me was the quality of the night shows. They are very elaborated to be a hotel, the costumes, the dancers, the equipment, the facility (they have a climatized theater), it was all wow.
Things I wish were different: the food was mostly good, but not great, some desserts I couldn’t even finish them, the Mexican food was great though. We could not get a reservation for the seafood and japanese restaurant so I can’t say anything about them. Also, the bathrooms would benefit from ventilation fans or some sort of odor extractors. The bathrooms in the buffet smell terrible all the time, same in the rooms: if you do number 2, the smell will stay there for hours. I advise to pack “before you go”. The drinks were also kind of soft.
But we had a great time in general to be honest.

Small quiet resort (pool area is loud but beach is quiet, not a lot of entertainment but I don't care about that as I'm there to relax and recharge), very clean, great service. Food is average, drinks are good. Love the beach bar. Plenty of shade at the beach but need to go reserve chairs early. That part is a bummer and shouldn't be allowed. This was our second stay and I would go again because overall it's a great value.

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. The staff were consistently rude and unhelpful, which immediately created an unwelcoming atmosphere. It felt less like a relaxing hotel and more like a cheap, drinking-focused environment, which was not what we were expecting at all.
One of the biggest frustrations was the pool area. We were rarely able to use it because guests would reserve sunbeds early and leave them unattended for hours, with no intervention from staff. This made it nearly impossible to actually enjoy the facilities we had paid for.
The beach was equally disappointing. It was overcrowded with rows of back-to-back sunbeds, leaving very little space to relax, and there were no umbrellas available for shade, making it uncomfortable to spend any real time there.
The food was by far the worst part of the stay. The main buffet had very little selection, and the quality was extremely poor. Meals felt repetitive, unappetising, and far below what you would expect from a hotel of this type.
Overall, this was not a pleasant experience, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing or enjoyable stay.

We recently stayed at your resort and unfortunately had several issues that impacted our overall experience.
We booked a room with two queen beds but were given a room with only one king bed, which was inconvenient for our group.
Our room accommodated three guests, yet we were only provided with two pool towels. It was a hassle each time we needed an extra towel. Additionally, once you check in, you’re required to bring your towel back daily to exchange it for a clean one. Unfortunately, the towel stations frequently ran out of fresh towels, forcing us to repeatedly check back throughout the day, which was both inconvenient and frustrating.
Some of the furniture in the room was broken, there was no fan in the bathroom, and only one blanket was provided. We had to request an additional blanket each day for the pullout couch.
The food was fair at best and did not meet expectations for a resort of this caliber.
There were frequently room service trays left in the hallways for extended periods, often for the entire day, which detracted from the overall cleanliness and appearance of the property.
The seaweed conditions on the beach were poor during our stay.
Bar service—especially at the pool bars—was consistently slow.
While the spa massage service was excellent, the overall spa amenities did not meet expectations.

- building #1 he’s extremely noisy with blaring music from the entertainment until 11 PM. After that, you hear everyone walking up the stairs talking throughout the night. Couldn’t sleep all night. Should have been warned by reception about this.
- this will hotel would not accommodate a late checkout
- deserts in coffee shop were horrible. One of the worst was the cheesecake in a red cupcake liner. The red cupcake liner died the cheesecake red. Hazardous to health.
- very difficult to get restaurant reservations. Could not try all restaurants.
- biggest downfall: there there’s a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the water. Could not enjoy the beach on this vacation. The beach is not frequently cleaned.
- reception staff was not apologetic about any complaints. I mentioned I would include this in my review and they didn’t care.
- some restaurants servers ask you to leave a positive Google review and wait for you until you do it, leading to a high Google rating for this hotel even if it is not deserved

Traveler beware: if you book a Privilege suite at Catalonia Gran Costa Mujeres, confirm what you’re getting. We paid for an upgraded room with a separate bedroom and living area, but were given a standard room facing the noisy main pool. When we questioned it, staff initially denied such rooms even existed instead of owning their mistake. Only after showing proof of our booking did they finally move us to the correct room in a quieter area.
The resort itself is clean and pleasant, but service is inconsistent and communication poor. We tried to coordinate nearby rooms with friends arriving later and kept being told to “check back,” only to be offered an upgrade for an extra $600. Food was very average, and my husband ended up with food poisoning on the last day. The beach is lovely, but by 8 a.m., most shaded chairs are “reserved” despite rules against it.
The kids’ club is also misleading—hours are limited, and only ten kids can attend unattended at once, which makes little sense for a family resort. Even the coffee shop, though a nice touch, involved 30–45 minute waits each morning.
While some staff were friendly, the overall lack of accountability and inconsistent service made the experience fall short for the price. Glad they fixed our room issue, but we don’t see ourselves booking another stay.

Great size rooms and one of the cleanliness resorts I've been too. The shows are amazing if your kids can stay up until 10 please make sure you check out the shows. Drinks at the lobby bar are top notch. Everywhere else drinks are 4 star. Food is also 4 star. Tbh we ended up going to the buffet after every restaurant. Buffet was by far the best food in the resort. Beach is beautiful!!! Pools are super cold if it's overcast and cloudy you can't swim.

The room hand a bad smell the moment I walked in. We complained about it they did nothing. Then at the end of the night first day of travel mind you, oh and I had babies with me as well.. The room had a roach our first day!! I got footage. We didn’t get compensated at all! All I heard was it’s a nature place. There’s nature then there’s down right dirty!!! Roaches come from bad sewage and bad hygiene. The room was on the first floor and it was the family Suite… next day I got a knew the next day after an argument! It was clean and okay. Service is horrible I can count on my hand the best servers was mainly Gabriel, and a few ppl on the beach, the entertainment Fabrico, David and the two girls where so excellent at entertaining.. the food wasn’t all the that. Not 5 star resort. Some staff great some just like to say 'no'. Our Room had flies and ants in the bathroom sinks, reported multiple times and could not change rooms. Elevators were broken several days and we had stroller we had to carry to 4th floor, again, was told no to changing rooms. Aggressively try to upsell you everything once there. No staff on beach. Requested partial refund from hotel through hotels.com and was denied. Absolutely not a 5 star resort. 3.5 star at best. Oh and BLoved restaurant is only for their privilege members so not sure why it's advertised.

From bad service to rude staff, stay was beautiful, facilities were outstanding however we had issues with staff/service. We couldn’t get reservations to their Japanese restaurant all 5 days booked. When made reservations at other restaurants only availability was after 9pm only for staff to hurry us up because the kitchen was closing. Room service was never delivered, couldn’t use their gym facilities because gym shoes were not worn. Saw people being kicked out of their buffet because they had swim wear on yet other guests had on swim clothes. Did not like the service at all. Definitely would not go back.

Overall, this was a great stay and we would happily return.
Pros:
Staff: 99% of the staff was attentive and professional. Exceptional service overall.
Dining: Buffet breakfast and dinner were great. Wide variety and high quality.
Entertainment: Great entertainment and activities kept the trip lively.
Cons/Only Fail:
Lunch: Buffet lunch quality was disappointing compared to breakfast and dinner.
Reservation System: The dinner reservation system was a major dissatisfier for our group. It was difficult and frustrating.
Resolution:
The Front Desk was able to help us navigate the reservation issue successfully.
The service and amenities were excellent enough to outweigh the frustration.

Stay was great overall, food varieties were a plus! Wish the room service menu was a bit better in terms of options for families traveling with specials needs children wanting to stay away from crowds.

They did try to promote a club membership which was promoted as a quick 90min breakfast and non pushy presentation. It ended up being a pushy 2.5 hour presentation in which you can tell how the manager got upset when we continued to kindly decline.

Definitely pros and cons. As a family of 6 the room had no privacy to change or get dressed. 2 queen beds super uncomfortable to sleep on and I don’t think a fold out should equate to a bed especially for my teenagers. The bathrooms were worn and could use a good clean. The restaurants were good but making a reservation was hard and only had openings after 9:30. The check in process was hectic! Crowded and took forever. The drinks are not strong at all. We paid for an upgrade and were contacted the next day that a room was wasn’t available. We were offered dinner reservations at earlier times for the inconvenience when we showed up to the restaurants they had no idea what we were talking about- we had a text from the manager. Guest services helped us eventually. The shows were good but progressively became inappropriate for kids. We walked out of the ‘The Rock Show’ because it was bordering a strip show other families left as well. The food trucks, tacos, ceviche, crepes and cafe were really great! The pools were great! The beach was good could’ve used more shade areas and lounge chairs. The service by the pool was great- workers were very hospitable and nice! Workers asking to take photos was annoying!! I agreed to taking some with my daughter and thought maybe max 5 poses but they kept insisting on more poses - it was awkward. And when they’d come back around they didn’t take ‘no’ for an answer and that’s what made it annoying. Take mosquito spray!!! It was an okay stay.

Almost everything was excellent. The room was awesome, the staff were excellent and friendly, food was mostly really good, medical service and follow up was excellent. My only complaint was some of the follow up was not done, ie we were told there woul be something in our room for our anniversary and our sister’s birthday, as well as dessert with a candle for her birthday but none of those things happened. Those are minor things though. We’ll be back!

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, everything was disorganized. We did not receive the welcome drink, we had to wait a long time, and no one accompanied us or even showed us where our room was. To make it worse, it was raining and all they did was hand us an umbrella with no assistance or guidance.

The hotel itself is poorly maintained. There are areas with unfinished details, viewing points with broken glass that have not been repaired, and cups thrown around the hallways. It reflects a lack of cleanliness and attention to safety. Overall, the service from the staff was consistently poor.

The food was another huge disappointment. They advertise 16 restaurants, but we were never able to eat at any of them because everything was always “full,” and no one made the slightest effort to help with reservations or offer alternatives. The food options we did see were basic, lacking identity, and nothing like what the hotel promotes.

Entertainment was also a letdown. Their entertainment team does not provide information or engage with guests, and you rarely see anyone sharing updates or leading activities.
Service at the beach and the pool was terrible—slow, inattentive, and clearly understaffed. On top of that, some of the external restrooms were not clean, which is unacceptable for a resort at this level.

We were a family with young kids. Had good fun, nice clean beaches, fun activities, staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were great. Overall great experience.

Resort was kept clean. Rooms were nice and spacious. Staff were friendly. Nice kids area and pool.

If you call for room service they don’t come. We had an issue with our sink and they said they’d send someone right away but no one came. We called for more water and no one came.

Buffet was ok, restaurant food was much better imo. We were actually there for a wedding and a lot of people got sick from food poisoning, including myself.

Lots of mosquitoes. Far from airport.

I had a very disappointing experience at this establishment. The staff demonstrated unprofessional conduct and behavior that felt discriminatory. Additionally, attempting to secure a reservation at the restaurant was unnecessarily difficult and poorly managed. Based on this experience, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this location to others.

The resort was beautiful! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Only down side was the mosquitos. There was a terrible abundance of them. We had to wear mosquito repellent the whole time we were there. They told us that it isn't usually like that. They were spraying and trying to control them. Just a bad time I guess.

For family (6 or more) is really hard to find spots for the specialty restaurants
The drinks are not what is expected(the quality of the brands and cocktails )for an all inclusive even paying for the privilege bracelet also the food was not the best
Early check in paying not possible even with the rooms ready we were waiting for more than 3 hours with babies and no help until we complained after 3pm check in time
One of the access to the beach (the main) is very slippery with the sand and the material (plastic) use for the walk from our group my mom suffered a fall resulting in a fracture on the hand.
