Stayed here for one night and overall this is definitely one of the better Motel 6 locations I’ve visited. You can tell this property has to maintain a higher standard because of the Carlsbad area and location near the coast.

The room was clean, the king bed was comfortable, and the overall property felt well maintained compared to many other Motel 6 locations. Parking was easy, the location right off I-5 was very convenient, and despite being close to the freeway the noise level was manageable. The pool area was also surprisingly nice, and the lobby/check-in area looked modern and organized.

However, my experience with the staff was mixed. The employee who checked me in was not very welcoming and barely acknowledged me. A simple greeting and a friendlier attitude would have made a much better first impression.

The bigger issue happened later at the pool area. I was sitting by the pool in the evening talking on the phone, and apparently someone locked the pool gate after 8 PM without checking if any guests were still inside. I ended up locked inside the pool area and had to climb over the fence to get out. Basic hospitality would be politely informing guests that the pool is closing instead of silently locking the gate while someone is still there.

Overall, the property itself is above average for the brand, but the customer service experience could definitely be improved.

Dirtiest Motel 6 I’ve been into. The door doesn't lock while theres a homeless guy laying on the grass just outside our door. When I brought me concern to the reception he disregard me and said just do something about it since he got no one to solve my problem. Wish I can give less than 1 star.

COCKROACHES in our 2 rooms. We had 2 rooms on 2 different floors and they BOTH had cockroaches. The only thing offered is coffee and they didnt have regular, only decaf on day two. Beds were extremely hard. Awful experience. Dont not recommended.

This Motel 6 was really clean. It my be close to the Freeway but the once the door are closed, the room is very quiet.

This is really close to the Carlsbad Flower Fields.
Very spacious and Jacob is excellent in helping us out get my dad a bottom room due to his disabilities. Ample parking.

When I arrived at the lobby to Check-In, I was surprised that they already charge my card even though I chose to pay at the property. I reserved a non smoking room and the moment I stepped inside, it smell like somebody just finished smoking weed, the same smell that you breath in Hollywood if you're visiting the Walk Of Fame. At night, I wanted to take a bath, there was no shampoo or body wash and there is no tissue paper box, if you sneeze you need to use toilet paper!
the fridge was a big size one but rusty same as the microwave, I will attach photos if I'm able to. The TV was a small 32 Inch and it was an old LCD model with dead pixels. I'm sorry for my negative review but this is honestly what i experienced during my 1 night stay at this hotel. The best thing was the location, near almost all the attraction that I had plans to visit.

Parking was fine , the ROACHES crawling on the floor were not fun, the smell of marijuana was horrible when you turned on the bathroom fan , the unsanitary microwave with more rust than a east coast chevy ,the door wouldn't seal closed git to see the moonlight through it so had to jam a plastic knife to hold it cloaed ,the leaky faucet ,the bed springs that were so bad it felt like you were on a waterbed , the staff were great ,always provided clean towels and dressed the beds ,

7 night stay. Room was disgusting. Didn’t dare walk around without socks. And they turned black. Corner of sheet pulled off mattress and as I was putting it back on the mattress was black and totally sickening. They do not do daily housekeeping and we only saw them 2 times for our 7 days. We had to chase down clean towels and empty our own garbage. I cannot recommend this Motel 6

Very ADA compliant for disabled travelers. Little loud because of the freeway next door. The desk chairs have metal non-caster legs that scraped across the floor on upper rooms that were loud in lower rooms. Housekeeping was sparse.

Works when you are on a budget and have no other options. There was hair ( won't go into details - and that should tell you everything!) everywhere!!! I found hair in the sink, on the toilet, behind the toilet, on the towels, in the bed, under the bed, on the phone- everywhere!! I was utterly disgusted.
There was loud thumping outside at 5 am and someone was very angrily screaming. It was not an experience I would have hoped for. But then may be that is what Motel 6 is all about. My first and last time staying at Motel 6.

It waa fine for what we needed. Just a place to sleep and shower. The air-conditioning was very loud and didn't really cool the room. Everything was moist in the room. TV remote didn't work. The curtains hardly kept any light out so it looked like morning time all night.

I stayed at this hotel because of the reviews I initially seen, however getting to the property there was many Things that are not current with pictures or reviews so I don't know who's leaving them reviews so I will give my personal opinion. The bed sheets had holes, the floor was so dirty my sons socks was black after 2 mins of walking inside. The bathroom had random hair on walls and in the tub.The tub silver accessories were all rusted down and people leave there so heard alot of walking upstairs On my last day we get a roach walking up the wall so i will definitely not be here again.

This location is not clean at all, dirty showers, walls, hair in the towels and extremely stained bed sheets. There were bugs in the rooms, homeless people sleeping on the property and begging for money. The fire alarm went off 2 nights at 11pm and when I brought it up to the manager I was told \" I don't know what the problem is it went off for only 1 minute, this was happening at 11pm..this is something that happens daily. The manager is extremely rude...

Stayed for 2 nights. We were looking for an affordable place to stay near Legoland. This was a 15 minute walking distance to Legoland. The overall stay was okay. There was only 1 staff in the front office, he didn’t say much just checked us in and handed the keys. The room looked clean upon entry. The fridge was larger than a standard mini fridge which was super great but it had what looked to be food residue or rust all over the front of it. The outlet of the microwave was faulty and would go out with every little touch of the cord which was very questionable. It did say there would be daily housekeeping but they never came by. We had to go ask the front desk for more towels and ended up with a big pile of towels and trash by the end of our stay which was annoying but I didn’t expect much from this place. If you just need a place to sleep and don’t care about anything else I’d say this is a good place to stay.

The staff were very short with us and after finding roaches in the room the first night, we asked the front desk for a garbage bag to bag up our belongings to protect them and they were reluctant to give us one. There was visible dirt on the bed sheets as well as stains on all linens. If you can afford a few extra bucks on a nicer hotel, Id recommend going there instead.

My expectation of booking through Expedia is that the room will be livable, have working AC and heat and not be unhealthy. This motel 6 obviously knows these issues exist : “Non-smoking” Room smells like smoke enough to be sickening. Tub is cracked with large areas of paint flaking off Shower pole is completely rusted out. Heater does not work Hotel Lock on door is off hinges USB ports are rusted. Rust throughout on door hinges etc.
On arrival there were large grease stains on comforter. The only pro was the staff member Scott that gave me extra towels and another comforter cover on check in. Worst room I have ever stayed in and I'm surprised the CA health Department allows this level of filth. Expedia could not reach them so that I could change rooms.

We came to stay one night with a child. The bathtub was peeling and in such poor condition that it was honestly scary to even take a shower, so we decided to skip it. The floor was sticky, which made it seem like it’s cleaned very rarely. I understand that the hotel is older and budget-friendly, but having properly cleaned floors is a basic expectation

I contacted the staff several times about the noise coming from the room above us, it continued throughout the evening and even at night. I asked if they could possibly ask them to be a bit quieter, but no one ever responded.

The description also mentions a snack bar, but keep in mind that it’s just a couple of vending machines .

Step rise in pool is not safe. Pool railing is not safe. I was unable to get out of pool. When office was notified entire staff laughed at me. Maintenance helped me by getting 2 2 inch boards to use to get out. Railing was unusually short to sidewalk. Forst step was a 6 inch rise. 2nd and 3rd steps were 11 inch rise each. . I know ADA requirements are 4 to 7 inches. Owners did not seemed concerned at all. I specifically rented this hotel for 4 weeks so i could use the pool for walking excerise. I was unable and felt as if hotel did not care. Also chair lift was completely rusted and appeared ti not be working.

Honestly I hesitated to rate this place cause the convenience of the location and price point. But as someone who books 10-15 hotel rooms a month I’m beyond fed up. There’s roaches in the bathroom, as a paying guest at times I can’t find a parking spot, back to back weeks after returning to my room from work the key fails to work so I need to go the the lobby and have it fixed, the AC is loud or some rooms don’t even work, staff is rude, housekeeps carts are extremely loud, I’ve put up with it for a while now but I’m over it and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I walked in the room and there was a paper bag with trash in it, including a glass bowl with pet food in it. I went to put my items on the desk, and a black belt was on it, so the desk was not clean, else it would have been removed. The sink faucet was covered with soap and toothpaste. I kept reminding myself it wasn't the Hilton, but basic cleaning was not done. Then there was a mess up with my departure. I came to the room being occupied by someone else and all my stuff, stuffed in a bag in the office. No apologies, no offer for another room for the night. This was a very poor experience.

The staff was fine. The hotel itself was not great. The shower head barely had any pressure in it. It took me four times longer to take a shower just to get the shampoo out of my hair. The mattress was super uncomfortable. I woke up every day with my back hurting. Make sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner since there is none provided.

It's motel 6, shouldnt expect much.

Pros: room has fridge, microwave, fairly clean, staff helped us move to a non smoking room as expedia mistakenly booked us a smoking one

Cons: room has no toiletries other than two small soap, no hairdryer, no daily housekeeping, area felt safe but into the night there are people smoking weeds in their rooms as the smell is strong when walking by some part of the property

We were family of 4 , Room had bleach smell and floor was sticky when we checked in , blankets had cigarette holes(even though i had booked a non smoking room), blanket was torn at some places, same as curtains , Bathroom floor had left overs like orange peels from the previous visit. Also the bathroom door does not lock.
I did report the very next day morning to the front office staff but no response, they just enquired if there was a leak in the bathroom, they did not even mind to clean it as it was widely visible all that i had said above
I have pictures of all things if i get a pushback on what ever i have written
Only positive thing I could say is that this place is near legoland and costco
front office staff heard everything and were polite but did nothing
If you are going with family it woud be wise to stay away as this might not satisfy you to the bare minimum expectation.

Everything is awesome here. Staff is awesome and super nice! AC works great (I get hot flashes so it works wonders). Mini fridge stopped working and they changed it pretty quickly.
