It’s great to spend time in the beach house and beach cottage. Getting to fall asleep to waves crashing and wake to the sun rising over the ocean is a special experience. And the service by staff is just exceptional. The food is wonderful as well. We love coming here and coming back.

Over the years we have stayed in almost every fine hotel in Newport. We have made the Castle Hill Inn our regular habit. This hotel is in a beautiful historic mansion on the ocean inlet and a is short walk to the oceanfront state park. The staff is helpful and eager to please, reminiscent of other top tier hotels. The massive oceanside lawn has many Adirondack style chairs to enjourage outdoor rest or socializing. There are indoor and outdoor bars that accomidate every taste even non-alcoholic beer for our designated driver. We very much enjoyed the food and the the beef short rib was the best I've ever had. The included served breakfast was excellent and my pick is the poached eggs with lobster \"hash\" and Holindase sauce.
We were here in March and activities we enjoyed are:
1) Ocean Drive and Brenton Point State Park
2) The Cliffwalk
3) The Mansion tours
4) Shopping around the Tennis Hall of Fame
5) Auto Museums - Audrain and Newport Auto Museum
When we come in the summer we also enjoy the beach.
This hotel is especially convenient if you have a car.

My perfect vacation
My stay at Castle Hill is always what I expect it to be - perfect. Starting with the team receiving me at arrival, to the team serving the meals to the housekeeping team, the service is excellent, friendly, considerate and accommodating. The beach cottage is beautiful and the views spectacular. The best part was being able to be on the private beach with my new puppy Vienna. So, thank you Castle Hill Inn for always taking care of us when we’re here.

Stayed for two days in August. Stayed in harbor house 4 located right by the water with a great morning wake-up view. Beautiful property with a wonderful location. Just spent the day lounging on the lawn watching the bay and the boat traffic, of course with a glass of wine. Dining options were excellent, staff from valet to housekeeping were great. Absolutely beautiful location, impeccably maintained and serviced, very kind staff. Worth the price. The property is unique and historical, the plantings and trees are lovely, and the breakfasts are nonesuch. We enjoyed playing cards in the bar with its woody ambiance and William Morris upholsteries and lounging in the original Chinoiserie inspired living room. The Beach houses have an amazing view

Spent two nights to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We were in Harbor House, which is group of 6 rooms in front of the main inn overlooking the water. We had cozy room with gas fireplace and great water views. The food was excellent, and the staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. It helped we had gorgeous weather particularly for May.

A huge disappointment!
It is such a disappointment! We stayed at a lord king room. For more than $400 a night, we expected the ceiling to be taller than my husband’s head and the bathroom to be bigger than a powder room. If you are more than 6 feet tall, I suggest you stay away from this room. The room feels very cramped and dingy. There was dust everywhere. The wall is paper thin. You could hear the people next door talking, and worst of all, you could hear them opening and closing their bathroom door ( because the door squeaked) and using the bathroom. The bed was ok. And that’s the only good thing I can say about this room.

At the very last minute, Due to a winter storm, the special one of a kind room we had booked was not available because of a water leak. The staff at the front desk bent over backwards to accommodate my disappointment and found a lovely alternative for my husband and I. We have a wonderful, Romantic long weekend away in one of the beach cottages. The check-in process was easy, the staff friendly and helpful, and the view from the cottage stunning. Lovely toiletries from Farmaestetics and a gorgeous soaking tub in the bathroom, plus a deck that opened straight onto the hotel's private beach. We ordered breakfast to be delivered to our room and it came on time and still hot. The afternoon tea included for guests in the main mansion is delightful and not to be missed!

The whole place is spectacular. Clean and welcoming. The staff is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. I don't know what lottery I won, but we got upgraded to a Beachhouse, and it was stunning, right on the water. The food was fantastic, our waitress Alex was delightful and gracious, explaining dishes and wines, without being imposing. It was a hard place to leave.

Great property, though given off season hard to really enjoy most of the amenities offered. My biggest complaint and suggestion to others is beware especially in off season that the cottages is very distant from main inn and you will need to clean your car (if snow and drive up hill to get breakfast, tea, and any other inn amenities. I can see in summer this being not much of an issue and possibly if there for beach a benefit to cottages but for the near $500 a night in winter it is far from the B&B experience you really expect. They will deliver the breakfast (not tea) to your cottage, but charge $10 per person, I mean really, no thank you I will drive up hill. Apparently, they said they would waive charge, but of course they do not tell you until after you check out not during your stay which would be the logical customer service approach. Also everyone says the place is great for dinner, but if you want al carte options they make you eat in bar. The bar tender was very nice, but I really did not see that experience so amazing. I am not sure if bar has all the same food options or not, but I would not recommend eating dinner at bar. I would have gladly dined in restaurant but my wife was not really hungry (we arrived close to 9pm) so having no ala carte options regulated us to bar. Overall, I would consider staying here again, but probably only if I could stay in the main inn or it was summer so at least being by beach might make some sense.
