The Fingal is a real gem, such a different hotel experience, it’s like being swept back to the days of the titanic, without the fear of an iceberg ! The staff were amazing, and really went out of their way to accommodate us, despite us being late for dinner. Can’t thank the hotel team enough it was an amazing experience.

Our stay at the Fingal Hotel was truly an unforgettable experience. Staying on what was once the last lighthouse tender boat felt incredibly special and unique.

The room was very spacious and the bathroom was spotless, with a powerful shower and a great selection of shower gels. I particularly enjoyed the whisky-inspired one, which was a lovely Scottish touch. The room also included a tea and coffee machine, and fresh milk was delivered, which was a thoughtful detail. The bed was extremely comfortable, although it did feel quite high!

The staff were absolutely fabulous—warm, welcoming, and always happy to help. They provided great advice and quickly resolved the only issue we had (a faulty coffee machine), which showed their excellent level of service.

Breakfast was definitely the highlight of the stay. There was a fantastic selection to start with, including croissants and breads. The yoghurt and granola were delicious, served with finely chopped fresh fruit. We had poached eggs which were cooked perfectly. There were also plenty of hot breakfast options including bacon, sausages, eggs, tomato, oyster mushrooms and many other choices.

Overall, the service throughout breakfast—and the whole stay—was brilliant. It was a truly memorable experience and we would highly recommend it. ⭐🚢🥐

Fantastic stay aboard Fingal - warm welcome on arrival, beautiful room and amenities with some Scottish favourites of Fudge and Tunnocks in the room. All facilities were great. We had dinner in the Lighthouse restaurant and this was a great experience. Breakfast was a la carte and had a great range of choices for all palates. No rush and the service was second to none. Staff are warm, genuine and friendly - they maintain standards but make you feel at home in a heartbeat.
Would definitely recommend a stay on Fingal if you are visiting Edinburgh

My 2nd stay at The Fingal and probably my last.
Nothing wrong with service, food or cleanliness, it was all 10/10 but the room I had ordered was an upgraded room but unfortunately due to the fact it was directly below the kitchen my cancer striken partner and I were awake from approx 4.30am with constant footsteps and banging, it absolutely ruined her birthday break away. Spoke to the manager who said he would investigate and reply via email. Sadly that's not going to fix a ruined night. I didn't get the impression he fully understood my issue. Paying over £400 to be woken up at 4.30am was not and ideal for my partners health nor my wallet.

I'm sure other rooms would have been fine though to be fair to such a beautiful hotel.

Everything about The Fingal is 5 star luxury including every member of the crew. Special mention must be given to Charlie who greeted me on arrival + shared the history of The Fingal with me, showed me to the bar + stowed my luggage in my room without me having to lift a finger. Charlie also assisted me in thwarting my brother’s attempt to pay for the reservation. I have been very fortunate through my professional life to stay in luxury hotels around the world but The Fingal is the exemplar of all those corporate 5 star hotels. The luxury touches around the cabin made me giggle with delight + the mini bar stock blew my mind. Thank you to everyone at The Fingal, you should be immensely proud of your ship, you professionalism + your welcoming + friendly nature. It is clearly not just a job/pay cheque for you. What an amazing 5* experience! The Fingal was everything I wanted it to be. A surprise overnight stay for my other half for his 70th birthday and it did not dissapoint. We stayed in the Luxury Duplex suite and it was lovey as the pictures on the website. Evening meal was delicious and the best breakfast I've had in a long long time.
A short walk to the Royal Britannia yatch which also exceded my expectation which is beside The port of Leith distillery - if you like whisky a great place to visit.
Obviously there's a cost involved staying on the Fingal in the Duplex room but for this special occasion worth every penny. Loved it !

The staff, service, food and accommodations were exemplary. Lovely nautical/arts & crafts era decor. Think Titanic with a modern sumptuous twist. We were delighted to find out tickets to the Brittania were included. Great location, simple to take the tram into the downtown, as we were travelling by train. Pricey, but well worth the splurge.

I cannot fault the Fingal hotel in any way. Booked this as part of our mini moon after getting married in Scotland and it really lived up to expectations. From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly and engaging, giving us tips on sights and restaurants in the area. The room itself (luxury cabin) was perfect for us, tastefully decorated and with a door going onto the deck upfront. We both slept really well and the mattress quality was excellent. The breakfast was divine, so many options to pick from and all executed perfectly. Special shout out to the staff at breakfast who were so cheerful and made it effortless to pick whatever we wanted from the menu. We had dinner on board the first night and it is truly fine dining, our plates were like pieces of art. One final fabulous feature of the boat is its elevator, which again, is tastefully designed in keeping with the rest of the interior as well as being spacious. I’m already planning when I can return to this wonderful hotel!

The hotel is superb, romantic and quiet. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Our room on two levels was pleasantly quirky, quiet and spacious.

The onboard restaurant offers high quality refined food and ample drinks options and is probably the best restaurant we tried in the whole of Edinburgh.

Further to the above, the excellence and kindness of the personnel and their ability to help with all the requests we had while showing elegant mannerism and refined conversational skills rendered our stay and whole experience memorable and possibly one of the best in our holiday around the UK.

Definitely recommended to those searching sophistication and elegance away from the crowds.

We booked a one-night stay on The Fingal to try something unique during our 2-week vacation in Scotland. It did not disappoint… in fact, it exceeded our expectations! The room was large and extremely comfortable. The bathroom and shower were great too. The only negative was that half of the room was on a slight decline but it wasn’t an issue for us. The food at dinner and breakfast was phenomenal and the staff went above and beyond to make sure every need of ours was met. Highly recommend this amazing experience!

The property is of course, unique by design. There is no actual lobby, only the bar/restaurant on the 3rd floor. The service is excellent, the employees very cheerful and helpful. The deluxe cabin was adequate. The room had everything you need--mini-fridge, good shower, etc. There is no shelf space in the bathroom, so we had to keep our toiletry bag nearby. The location is a bit out of the way--not a great amount of choice of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel does offer a ticket to the Britannia, and that was a well appreciated perk!

If you are looking for a high end experience with foodie dining, impeccable service and a luxurious room, you have found your place. 5 minute walk from Britannia, you could stay on the ship and never leave. If they added a spa experience I probably wouldn't. This is the type of hotel where they put chocolates on your pillow. I've already recommended it to others in the country to at least check out the dining. Wonderful experience.

A unique experience! Great location, rooms were bright, clean and modern. Restaurant food was top notch. On the whole, staff were pretty good but at times we were left waiting in the restaurant for too long and there didnt seem to be any structure to how things were managed (people who were sat after us were attended to before we were, for example). But in the scheme of things this was a minor irritant on what was a truly lovely experience overall. The history of the ship is also pretty amazing!

A wonderful experience, the cabin was beautiful, although the bed was very high and not being very tall I was unable to climb onto it easily. However we were provided with a stool which made it easy.

Delicious dinner and breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked.

A hotel like no other.

The Fingal is a hotel like no other.

The rooms are immaculate with more room than I expected and lots of inbuilt functionality and storage helping keep our luggage out of the way. Likewise the bathroom was much larger than expected.


The fittings one fit out were beautiful with many great design elements providing a luxurious finish. The food onboard was amazing and breakfast each morning was looked forward to with views over Leith and the water.

The tram stop a hundred meters from the door made it easy to get into and out of the city centre without fuss and ran late into the evening making a a great way to get around.

Above all I must call out the staff. They were all friendly and engaging with nothing being too difficult. They were genuine and warm. A special mention to the ladies who served breakfast each morning we were there. Thanks for the recommendations and great start to each day. If you are lucky enough to stay here I strongly recommend the brulee porridge.

From the very first glimpse to the end of our stay i was blown away by The Fingal.

Stunning boat with great history which was tied into the whole experience.

The staff were amazing and treated us like kings even though we just had an overnight stay.

Tram runs by so easy to access Edinburgh and all that holds.
