There was a maggot in the sink, the bathroom smelt, and the wallpaper was ripping off. I only stayed because I arrived late and was leaving first thing in the morning so it wasn’t worth the hassle of trying to find somewhere else. Definitely do NOT recommend

Only the entrance looks nice and then you get on the lift and it all goes downhill from there. The lift buttons didn’t work to select certain floors. The smell of the hotel just smells weird and old. Couldn’t open or close the windows, it was just stuck open, I was freezing and there wasn’t even any heater or radiator to turn on. It says every room has WiFi but I had zero connection, and even to use my own data was terrible because me and my partner only had one bar signal. The iron board was dirty and burnt, toilet holder literally just fell of the wall like I paid £320 for 2 nights, you’d think it would have some decent room with decent functions. Like the only good thing about this hotel is how it’s in the centre of Liverpool.

We were worried after reading some of the reviews on here but the triple room we booked was clean and spacious. The bathroom was modern, if a little broken (toilet roll holder and toilet seat were both loose!). There aren’t enough plugs in the room and no mirror, which made it difficult to do our hair with straighteners.
The breakfasts were ok. Tinned fruit, no fresh. Bread for toast was very thin and obviously not expensive however there was plenty of cereal selection and the hot food was checked and replenished as necessary.

While the staff were nice, the hotel itself is dated, cold and just creepy. The beds creaked so badly and were lumpy and uncomfortable. The shower was lukewarm at best and with a bathroom with no heating, it’s takes bravery to use it. We have up after the first night and booked into a cheap Travelodge which was everything the Adelphi wasn’t

tv- was in arabic - could not get it in English - absurd for this in the Uk ! staff were friendly ; I got charged for breakfast for a 12 year old - lady serving stated it was meant to be free !! make of that what you will

The room was spotless, but keeping it that way was on me--there is no maid service, something I had never experienced in a hotel before. The room was old and tired but adequate.

The public spaces are elegant and comfortable, pretty much as in its heyday decades ago when it was the top hotel in town. The breakfast was excellent, though probably not so much for a vegan.

The service was spectacular. One staffer walked me to the train station in inclement weather and helped me on the train. I would stay there again.

The room and floor were extremely noisy. I asked if I could be moved to a different floor and was told that was impossible because they were booked. This is a lie though because I tried to book a room online and there were plenty rooms available. Also there was no plug anywhere near the bed and only 1 out of the 3 plugs on the room worked. Just overall a bad experience with this hotel

I liked the art deco feel to the hotel, but sadly the room i had 468 , was poorly lit, for the size , just one table lamp, and a small bedside light, very little natural light if any....
The bathroom was obviously quite new too, which was nice

We were put in the back 40 of rooms because we have a dog. But, honestly, we had a super large room, it was quiet and we slept peacefully. Last visit we stayed on the 3rd floor and that wasn’t good. Staff was friendly and this hotel is in a perfect location! We’d stay again.

Full breakfast options and good value. The hotel is a beautiful art deco style and very much in the centre of the city and short walk from Lime Street station.

The hotel has some original fittings and that adds to its charm. For example the room has an original radiator with manual control. Then it has an ultra modern TV ext. And usb port on the double socket.

Ok, it's not gone a swimming pool, not sure about a gym. But it's good for resting and for that property with history. The lounge area is simple gorgeous to hang out.

This hotel was once rather grand (in the Edwardian period) now rather showing its age. That said, very convenient location, parking available at rear of hotel & surprisingly quiet. Excellent for train station & metro. Great bars & restaurants yards from the hotel & shopping centre on your doorsteps. Stay here when in Liverpool always, as so easy.

Staff was welcoming and good. However, my bathroom had a hair tuft in it, so cleaning staff had not done their job properly. Also 1 of the towels had a stain. Also you have to pay for internet yourself, whereas most hotels provide free wifi. So it was quite a let down.

The room was beyond shabby. Dirty radiators, toilet, with dirty drips all over. Glass on floor by both beds. Hole in bathroom door. Holes in bathroom walls. Beds really uncomfortable weve both got back ache. The one pillow provided each was lumpy. Just horrendous. The first room we were given was that hot ut melted my lipstick. Moved to another room see above description. Plus tv was crackly & unwatchable.

Always stay here when on boozy night in Liverpool, if you've been on 4 in a bed and you go round looking under the bed and pulling the shower apart the place may not be for you, but it suits me. Comfy bed, rooms warm and cleanish. With 2 bars downstairs and most importantly these days it's cheap. What more do you want.

Having checked in and paid in full on line in advance as requested by the hotel with the promise of express check in. When I arrived to check in at 3pm I was left standing at the \"express\" check desk for 12 minutes being totally ignored by the three members of staff who were checking in the other customers in the non express queue.

Room was basic and there was rubbish left under the bed from previous guests, only lighting was two small bedside lamps which had been smashed up. Bed was very uncomfortable. Unbelievably noisy, karaoke until the early hours (sounded like it was coming from somewhere inside the hotel?), woken in the middle of the night by a deafening smoke alarm because other guests were smoking indoors, people that weren't staying at the hotel hanging around in corridors (presumably for warmth?). Overall I was uncomfortable and felt unsafe. Wouldn't stay again.

Great location near station but hotel needs updating. Bathrooms better than bedrooms. Windows don’t close and wear and tear and old fashioned hotel. Security staff and some reception were great ( Sat night/ Sunday am) although Oskar was very grumpy at check-in and abrupt in responding to basic questions - can I leave my luggage. Response of course in a rather condescending way.

I checked out after 2 hours. The room was disgusting. Mould everywhere, wallpaper peeling, the door to the hotel room appeared damaged. Worst of all, the ceiling appeared water logged, with a large brown stain directly over the bed. I did NOT feel safe in the room and went to another hotel.

Hotel is lovely. Our room was nice and comfortable and clean. Yes its a bit tired here and there but thats to be expected in large old hotel. The only complaint I have is that the restaurant was closed because they didn't have any bookings. We weren't aware that you had to book so just a heads up.

The hotel car park is not free, and I was also charged £20 for two nights' parking, despite the hotel advertising free parking.

In addition to this, I was also charged £7 for room tax, which was not advertised until I checked in.

Grand building, downstairs very elegant. Unfortunately the room itself was tired, bathroom had damaged plastic panels, sealer around the bath looked like it had heen put on with a inch wide brush, the carpet in the bedroom was burnt and stained, and the window was filthy.

On the plus side, the room was warm, we slept all night, and with a little attention to detail, it could probably look nice again.

Also, couldn't fault the cooked breakfast.

Rooms definitely need repair and modernisation. The central heating didn’t work at all in the first room , and the reception staff was helpful in relocating us in a different room, but unfortunately, the central heating didn’t work either , but there was a small electric heater , so we used that instead to take the chill off the room. We were only staying one night so didn’t want to move room again.
The conditions of both rooms were tired and there were areas which need repair.
The quality of the breakfast was poor but I suppose for £11 per head I can’t expect any more, but some of the plates and cutlery still had food debris stuck on them which were not really acceptable.
On a positive note, All the staff we came across were helpful and friendly.

Went to the online checkin counter and was told rather sternly to stand by the Christmas tree while one guest in front of me was being served. Lots of guests then arrived and queued behind the first guest. Being in the hospitality industry, I expected the staff to call me and serve me next, but sadly, no. I did just brush this off, but the hotel did feel unwelcoming and I'm not planning on staying in any Britannia hotel anytime soon.

Do not believe the pictures showing nice rooms. The real rooms are tiny and cramped. The bed was very uncomfortable. We left after half an hour and booked a different hotel instead. Bloody awful, avoid at all costs.
