Although now a slightly faded glory, this is still my favourite hotel in Liverpool. Right near the centre, and an easy walk from Lime Street station. The rooms are large, and the grand salon is magnificent. Far fewer staff now, but friendly and helpful.

We were booked in by a very unfriendly Oskar which wasn't a great start. Our room was very stuffy even with the window open all night. We were right next to the lift and so there was a constant rumbling. The shower had two temperatures, ice cold or scalding hot!!
When I opened the kettle to make a cup of tea there was a dead moth at the bottom. It took them 2 hours to replace it.
We left our luggage in storage the following day and when we collected it we were served by an even more miserable Oskar. I think Oskar needs some basic training on good manners if he wants to work in hospitality! This is honestly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Worst sleep ever , room was ridiculously hot , a fan was provided in room but did absolutely nothing
Barely slept and had to constantly get up to pour water over my face !

Hard to find any positives at all , room tax added at check in , only a few pounds but wasn't aware of it

Check in 4pm check out 10am was ridiculous as well , don't think iv ever heard of a hotel with such an early check out

We were coming off the train and it was the closest hotel very convenient very easy. We were room only so can’t tell you about the breakfast but the price was amazing. We ended up getting two sweets which was perfect. Newly refurbished.

The floor and neighbouring rooms were very noisy. After a long day working and travelling, I could not sleep properly.

The bed was not comfortable.

Breakfast availability, range, and quality was poor.

The dining area was very unclean, and had to clear tables ourselves.

The hotel building and lobby are very nice and grand. The room was more basic, but still clean and functional, with a decent shower, coffee and a TV. The hotel is very central in Liverpool and convenient to all the attractions and transport.
I opted not to have breakfast, but when checking in online was offered cheaper rates for breakfast and dinner than offered when booking the room.

The room was dated and although there was lots of drawer and wardrobe space, only room for one bedside table. Bathroom sink was tatty and had chips in. Carpets in public areas were clean and tidy. The main lounge looked opulent and grand and in keeping with the age of the hotel. For what we paid I expected a higher standard. Breakfast was chaotic with a queue to enter on our first day but fine the second day, so maybe just unlucky that it was particularly busy on first day. Convenient location to get around the city, Albert Dock was just a 15-20 minute walk, we also walked to the Arena, around 25 - 30 minutes. Central Station and bus terminal are all close by.

Would have given it five star except we didn't have hot water in the sink. The shower was ok. When we informed reception they offered to upgrade us. but as we were about to go out to a function and leaving the next morning we declined so so they gave us a late checkout. Staff were great

This is a two hundred year, 400 room hotel with great bones, a great value for the money. The property has two bars and a restaurant, all of which could use an improved menu of food choices. The property is well located: two blocks away from the Central Station and a little farther than that from the main Lime Street Station.

Only one of the two lift would allow you to push the button for the 4th, 5th & 6th floor. Lighting in the room was very dull and only two lamps. Water from bathroom taps when it did come out it exploded out, lots of air in the system. Only one plug socket available to use. Asked reception for best way to get to Hill Dickinson Stadium, told to either walk (45/50 minutes) or best option get a taxi. I said I’d heard their where shuttle bus, to which the reply was no, they didn’t bother to do those, but only a couple of streets away I found the shuttle buses.

We have stayed at the Adelphi on numerous occasions but this might be the last. The shabby splendour has reached a new bottom. The bar had an unpleasant smell as did the communal areas. You could not use the front doors due to refurbishment. The Matress in our room was terrible and really hard...we did not sleep well. We overheard another couple saying they had been woken up by someone kicking a door in further down the corridor on the same floor as ours. Unsavoury characters also hanging around the foyer and no one from the Adelphi seemed bothered or acting on what customers were telling them. We won't be going again...such a shame.

The bed was rock hard, could not sleep at all, if you moved so did the bed, it was like sleeping on the floor, the room needed painted, we stayed for 2 nights, we picked this hotel due to reports of it being paranormal, we stayed 2 nights on 3rd floor that is supposed to be extremely paranormal, a load of rubbish, it's a con, not one thing happened, definitely won't be staying here again.

A grand cherished older reputable hotel which exemplifies English hospitality properly.
Beautiful architecture and inner rooms, quite an elegant place to stay or hold an event.
I’ve stayed here before & will book it again when I return to Liverpool.

Staff were excellent and very helpful. I booked the executive room and it was very spacious and comfortable and shower room was great!
Bedroom walls could do with some dusting or better still a touch up of paint.
Centrally located for city centre.
Would stay again. My highlight was the staff at check in. Very courteous and helpful.

Basic to none amenities in the room
Rooms are old dirty and dated

Housing keeping does not come daily to change towels

Homeless people sleeping outside the steps of hotel.

This is known to be the worst hotels in Liverpool by the taxi drivers

Breakfast buffet was good value for money. Room was clean but incredibly hot with no way of controlling the temperature of the radiator. Comfortable bed and good shower/wc room which appeared to have been recently refurbished. Check in was easy, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bar with reasonably priced drinks.

The hotel was very central for what we needed. Although the staff were polite there was no other interaction.
Even though I checked in online I still waited 19-15 minutes to get the key. When I mentioned I had added breakfast on and needed to pay for it as the room was pre-paid. He had no idea!. Then looked and apparently found the note.

We asked for another bulb for the lamp in the room and was asked whether we tried all the other sockets first. Yes we had and then tried the bulb on the other lamp which worked. It was clearly the bulb. Maybe because we were two girls he thought were couldn’t work that out.

The hotel definitely needs updating. A lot of peeling paint in the room and bathroom.

Breakfast was lovely. Lots of choice.

A tired icon. Full of history, with the entrance and ballroom jewels to behold. The bar is smart and well priced too. However my room - standard double - was very poor. Chipped basin, exposed pipes, holes in the wall, broken loo seat, ceiling cracks, and faded mismatching paint on the walls. Staff were friendly but towels weren’t replaced, and they failed to bring the pillow I requested. They don’t clean rooms supposedly to be sustainable but it feels like it’s just to cut corners and save pennies. Well priced for the city but I couldn’t say I’d recommend due to the condition of the room.

The property is a beautiful, yet old hotel with a rich history. However, my stay was not great. Front desk staff, if they’re there, act as if you’re an inconvenience - one gentleman was outrightly rude. I had questions about the train and opted to walk to the station and ask instead of risking another unpleasant interaction. Tap in bathroom broken, room not cleaned for the entirety of the stay. Could not reach the hotel by phone or email to let them know of my cancelled flight and late check in. Expedia had to intervene on my behalf and was told they would “try” to not mark me as a no show. Asked for a cab and was told after they sighed they “would try.” Really, really sub par customer service. Would not recommend.

Once the best hotel in Liverpool! Now a little tired and shabby. Main areas still look good. My room, a standard double, was comfortable, but very basic, no overhead lights, just two table lamps. Wallpaper peeling off wall and ceiling in some places. Extraction fan in bathroom not working.

Short overnight stay in Liverpool city centre at a great price. Lads trip to watch the football so minimal time was spent in the hotel. It was fine for what we wanted, cheap, right in the city centre near the railway station, bars and restaurants. Hotel was clean, room and bathroom had been upgraded.

Super handy and really good stay - 2 day stag do with Grand National as the main event!

Hotel location is brilliant for Lime Street, Liv Central and all the central bars.

My room (double) was very nice but lads in the twins found it quite basic. On-site bar / pub is great to get going - low prices.

Value was ok for Grand National weekend but a bit steep otherwise.

Looks like it was once a grand plush hotel, room dated but large and clean and the bathroom looked recently refurbed, got a triple room for same as a double which turned out to be a bonus as we had seperate bedrooms,close to station and bars, cracking stay for a game at anfield.

But it was clean a fit for purpose if you’re only staying the night and want to experience an old famous building. The common areas are fantastic.

We had booked what we thought was a higher end hotel, well we paid a higher price for our twin room. The first room we were given was room 116 and was tiny, the window started about 7 feet up and so had no view or air in the room. The bed frames were frayed and very dated. The walls and very high ceiling looked like it had previous damp. We were moved to another room 516, equally small but had a window to let some air in as it was so hot. All facilities were basic and tired.
The breakfast was mass presumed, for a hotel this size there could have been fresh coffee, not out of machine. There was plenty of choice but all very basic, cheap ingredients and the cooked breakfast was obviously massed cooked and lacked the finish to make it a good breakfast (over fried hash browns, dry sausage and black pudding, weird half fried half poached egg)
The grand lounge was indeed grand, the wine in the bar was good value £24 for a bottle of NZ Sauvignon.
It felt to me like a very budget hotel with high ceilings and a few chandeliers. I would not recommend here which is a shame as this could be an excellent hotel.

The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. Ideal to be close to the bars, shops and train station. The price I paid for a bank holiday weekend was fairly cheap for 2 nights. The rooms do need a revamp as they look outdated like rooms from the 80's but still is place to lay your head for the night. Maybe add an extra pillow too each bed

Booking in was fine, although the key to the door didn't work, we were on the 5th floor so a bit of a treck back to the reception. We were not given any information about where the bar or dining room was. We had to ask where the bar was situated. The bar was well equipped with darts and pool table, comfortable setting. The room was clean, not a lot of staff around but there were 4 functions on that weekend, we were not informed or involved prior to booking. Very noisy at night, understandable as there had been a party, but a random dog barking in the corridor at 3 am I thought was a little too much.

We had two seperate stays. The first was on the fifth floor in a room that was not updated and rather dismal. There was a metal window or door banging on the second night that work is up, went unresolved and meant we need to get key to another room to get sleep. Second stay was a single night on third floor in updated room at back of hotel. Nice. No banging. Location is great near train station. History and lobby are interesting. Staff were good and professional

There were people screaming outside the room at 2am and I could hear the lifts moving all night which made it impossible to sleep for more than 2 hours. Couldn’t get through to the lobby when I called trying to amend this issue. The toilet rolls were already 70% used when we arrived. 2 single beds pushed together despite requesting a double bed. Everything would have been excusable if I could actually get some sleep. Very low quality experience, especially for the price. The hotel itself looks nice is you aren’t staying, I regret staying here.

Everything was good as I rated it a few minutes ago.

But the only thing that made my staying less positive, was that the other hotel's customer who were in the adjacent rooms (both 503 and 505) were having sex and making strong noises at night. There were also having arguments and smoking marihuana (something not permitted in the hotel).
That made the overall experience less positive.

For £250 for a night I was expecting top quality from such a famous establishment.

No-one on reception when we arrived and had to wait a good five minutes for anyone to appear. All went downhill from there.

Receptionist, when he did turn up, was gruff and harassed.

Room was tired, dowdy, stained carpet, hole in the wall (looked like a previous guest had vented their frustrations with their fist), grimey chipped bath and dirty stains around taps. Water pressure low on shower and very leaky. Mattress creaky and could feel the springs through it.

Room also very noisy and woken up during the night with shouting outside.

One of the worst hotels I've stayed in for many years.
