Hotel was very beautiful and the room was extremely spacious for NYC. We were in the 42nd floor which was nice and quiet. The elevators were pretty slow, but nothing too crazy! I wish there was an explanation on how to use the shower as well. Overall a very comfortable stay

Nice hotel. Easy to check in/out. Rooms were clean and the hotel was in a great area right in Times Square so it was easy to get everywhere. I would definitely stay here again next time when I’m in NYC. Rooms get nice and cold too I really enjoyed my stay!

Hotel is perfect located next to Times Square. Subway is at the corner and lot of interest points in a walkable distance. The main advantage of the hotel is the breakfast and this was the reason to book it. Hotel is offering plenty of added value services like trasport from/to airport etc... Facility looks new or very well renovated and is clean and perfect maintained. It's highly recommended for anyone who wants to feel the Times Square atmosphere night and day, Broadway theatres, 5th Avenue luxury stores, Rockefeller center and more...!!! We'll be back soon Riu Plaza. Thank you for the hospitality. Everything was beyond our expectations.

family had a great stay at the Riu Hotel Manhattan. The location is a 10/10. It is in a busy area but just steps from Times Square and surrounded by great restaurants. Serendipity is right next door, Dilli Dilli is just up the street, and there are plenty of street vendors nearby, which made grabbing food easy and fun.

The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The snack shack and breakfast were both excellent, and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning.

The only downside was the elevator situation, especially when trying to get to breakfast. Each day, we waited around 20 to 25 minutes for an elevator. Guests have to go to the first floor, wait in line, and then are taken up to the fifth floor to be seated as space opens. This setup ties up the elevators and causes long delays. I was traveling with my mom, who had a strained muscle, so taking the stairs was not a realistic option after the first day.

A better system might be to move the breakfast line to the fifth floor and adjust the space to accommodate it, which could help reduce elevator congestion.

The room itself was small and basic, but that did not matter much since we were rarely in it.

Overall, great location, great staff, and great food. Just be prepared for possible elevator delays during breakfast hours.

We recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, the experience did not match the price or expectations at all.

First, the room was extremely small—far below what would be considered comfortable for a stay in this price range. The coffee machine in the room was outdated and not functioning properly, which was disappointing.

Despite clearly informing the front desk that we were three guests, we were given a setup suitable for only two people. The third “bed” was a pull-out sofa, and it was extremely uncomfortable—honestly unacceptable for an adult to sleep on, especially considering the cost of the stay.

The air conditioning system was also problematic. It continuously blew cold air and could not be properly adjusted or turned off, making the room uncomfortable throughout the night.

We requested additional pillows, but no one followed up or addressed the request.

Lastly, the overall environment felt chaotic, likely due to the location near Times Square, but this disorganization seemed to extend into the hotel operations as well. From a safety perspective, it did not feel reassuring—especially when thinking about emergency situations.

For the price charged, we expected a much higher level of comfort, organization, and basic hospitality. Unfortunately, this stay did not deliver on any of those.

About a minute walk from Times Square, the hotel is nice and clean and the staff in the lobby was kind and emailed us when our room was ready. We had 2 queen beds, small space for 3 adults, can't imagine having 4. Bathroom is a sliding door. Not enough space to put your clothes away. They dont provide complimentary slippers ($3.50USD); no robes, 2 complementary water bottles. If you want more the store/cafe downstairs has them for about $2-3. They provided enough towels for our stay and if you need anything else you can \"order\" it through their app, which was great because we didn't have to be in the room or return to the hotel to request things. Location is also close to various subway lines, which was great. About a 25 minute walk to Koreatown or a 13min subway ride.

I was placed in a handicap accessible room, which I wasn't aware of nor was I told until I checked in to the room. the water pressure in the shower was abysmal and the TV turned on by itself in the morning. also the curtain rod to close the darkening curtains broke, so it was bright from the midtown / Times Square lights all night.

Room was nice and clean with good side view of Time Square. Hotel itself is a zoo-long check in, luggage storage and elevator lines. Breakfast was not good at all- poor quality food. Better to charge more and offer higher quality. Excellent location - walkable to all midtown attractions, shopping and Central Park. During check out, front desk person refused to give receipt which is very unusual. Would not stay there again due to chaos in lobby and poor breakfast.

Did not like bathroom : no exhaust fan, hand soap dispenser set up very awkward, glass barn door was loud.

Two queen beds were literally side by side with no space in between …it was like one big bed!!

Plenty of towels and very responsive when needed a blanket and extra pillows !

Very convenient to areas we were interested in!

The elevator gets very busy in the morning when breakfast is being served. I had to walk down from 14th floor to the lobby twice in the morning. This was one negative experience.

The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but actually quite disgusting.

I had an emergency and had to leave early the next morning. I was able to give them 36 hours notice, but they wouldn’t even consider refunding me a portion of my second night’s stay.

I lost a pair of prescription sunglasses and I believe I did so in the lobby. I asked them if they had been turned in and they said “no”. I asked if I could leave my name and phone number in case they turned up and the receptionist said, “well, how do we know they are yours?” I looked at her in disbelief and said, “well maybe because I just described them to you in detail and also – they have prescription lenses?”

Would never stay here again.

This is a great place to stay in NYC for people who don’t plan to be in the room much. Great location. One block from Times Square. Less than five minute walk to Rockefeller. Lots of food options nearby.

Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Rooms are small but typical for NYC midtown hotels.

Almost about the hotel was great. Location. Price. Appearance and cleanliness. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Thoughtful use of limited space in the room. Proximity to several subway lines.

Just three things to be aware of: the two queen beds are so close they touch. It's like having one giant bed. The frosted glass bathroom doors let through a lot of light if someone uses it in the night. And getting an elevator with space during the morning check out rush was next to impossible (12th floor). We ended up carrying our bags down the stairs.

But these hiccups were minor. We would stay again for sure.

The location was great. I would stay again for that reason. The hotel decor is nice. The room was fairly clean, but I found a black hair on my pillow and an old orange juice behind the curtain. The breakfast was yummy but paying ahead was not always convenient (we sometimes decided things last minute) so we only ate there once. There was a cafe/snack place but it seemed to open late and had long lines so I couldn’t grab coffee in the morning. However there is a Dunkin’ right across the street. That too was always very crowded, I would plan to order ahead and pick up. We ended up having to drive in due to a cancelled flight and there is a robo garage that takes your car away right when you pull in, and it was right next door, steps away, it felt safe (since we drove in at night), however expensive as to be expected for manhattan.

Overall the hotel is well located, but I had a disappointing experience during my stay. My family and I purchased a whole pizza from Joe’s Pizza nearby because we wanted to try a classic New York pizza together.

When we returned to the hotel lobby, we sat down while ordering drinks from the hotel. However, the staff informed us that we were not allowed to eat there because the pizza was from outside.

This felt unnecessarily restrictive, especially since we were guests of the hotel and were also purchasing beverages from their bar. In a city like New York, where visitors often explore local food options, a more accommodating approach would have been appreciated.

Unfortunately, this interaction made the experience feel less welcoming than expected.

Location was excellent, next to Time Square and subway station. The room was on the small side, we had a room for 3, but the 3rd bed was a very uncomfortable sofa bed, that when opened, did not leave any space for the desk next to it and the window. I also hope the room had a microwave
