Best thing about hotel was being next to Rue Daguerre with all the quaint little shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly. The hotel has had a partial interior tropical design update that respects the Belle Epoch Colonial - Parisian style but it is overdue for new carpet and the bathroom was original. The breakfast was very good. Street sounds were noticeable (sirens etc) . One might ask for a room on the alley for more quiet. Management needs to continue the interior updates but I would recommend this hotel especially for proximity to the charming Rue Daguerre.

Conveniently located, but in need of renovation. The carpets are badly stained throughout the hotel and rooms and the bathrooms have broken tiles, gaps in grouting and worn out shower screens. Overall this gives the impression that the hotel is tired and a bit dirty. This isn't the fault of the staff, who were polite and pleasant.

From the staff to the clean rooms, we felt right at home. We would definitely stay there again. It had access to the tube within just a few minutes. Then just a block away there was a Main Street neighborhood style with wonderful restaurants and of course pastries bakery yes again we definitely would stay there.

Very good hotel.

Great little hotel well located in the southern Paris suburbs. The main thing I liked was the welcome I received from the concierge, who made me feel like a valued customer from the moment I stepped into the building. Rooms are small, but were perfectly adequate for me, and had everything I needed (the fan was a godsend!).

The hotel is also a five-minute stroll from the Denfert-Rocheau Metro stop which takes you right into the heart of the city, and a RER rail station is a couple of minutes further on which links directly to Gare du Nord, so perfect for anyone using Eurostar. Between these stops and the hotel are a number of good bars and restaurants, so everything I wanted was nearby.

Everything was fine, except it was not posted that the hotel (on hotels.com) that the air conditioning was broken and had been since the beginning of summer. This was a major issue. This is extremely unacceptable. A very recent review noted this as well. We would have cancelled and booked another hotel. I will be finally a claim for a refund for our two rooms.

Comfortable, Quiet Hotel in a Great Location

Overall, a nice hotel in a great location that is close to many shops, restaurants, and the metro station. The staff were particularly helpful with check-in process and helping me carry all of the bags.

We did have an issue with the hot water going out on several days while we were there. The bathroom could stand an update, but the room was comfortable and clean.

The staff and location of the hotel were the highlights.

Check in and check out was a breeze. Friendly staff. Great room. Small but bathroom was large and plenty of storage space.
Perfect location. Close to Metro and Buses. Lots of cafes nearby. Neighborhood street market right around the corner. Neighborhood was quiet and very safe both day and night.
Would absolutely stay there again and refer Villa Montparnasse to others visiting Paris.

The location and price of this hotel worked for us. We were able to get to the city center by riding the M4 metro line each day. The neighborhood is a mix of residential with one vital street that has many restaurants where prices are lower than the central tourist areas. It is right next to the Catacombs (closed due to staffing during our 4-day stay), and you can walk to Luxembourg Gardens. Shortcomings were that the breakfast was sparse for the price, rooms are small, and there is virtually no common area — usually a feature in hotels with very small rooms. Housekeepers did a good job, but carpet is so old that it is permanently dirty/dusty. The 90+ degree temperatures while we were there emphasized the lack of air conditioning (common in Paris). If the hotel has a four-star rating, that is a bit misleading. In any case, we worked around all these things and enjoyed our trip.

Two reasons for low rating: 1 - air conditioning was not working (and it was quite hot the days we were there), and 2 - hair dryer was cracked and only partially functional (you could change the heat setting but there was no way to change the air flow level)

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. It was comfortable, and the balcony was nice. Rooms are small in France, but ours was a superior size so a little more space I like the location a lot, it was far enough from touristy areas, but close enough to get around plenty of cafés in the area, and small places to shop. From what I can see with other hotels in the area, this provided all that we needed. My husband says the rooms are “cozy”, not really family size but perfect for us a great place to spend our 40th anniversary.

Great location for museums and attractions

This is a quaint hotel in the Latin quarter conveniently located in a fantastic neighborhood for outdoor dining, markets and shopping. The bus is just steps away from the lobby. Bus number 68 takes you to the main area for the museums and Eiffel Tower. The metro is also a few steps away. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Nice little hotel with lots of potential. Definitely an expired four star as the facilities are nice but tired. Location very convenient two the metro 4, metro 6, RER B, Orly Airport Bus, and many local busses. My biggest issue with this hotel is the maid service. The rooms do not really get cleaned, it's simply a towel change. I do not typically mind this (I do not need new sheets every day), however the least they could do is take out the garbage. Instead people line their bottles/cans/etc up in the hallway. In any basic hotel, let alone a four star hotel, I'd expect more than alley-way service. Breakfast was good and in a nice room in the basement. Overall, I'd stay again if some basic changes were made to their services (taking out the garbage...)

Great location..within 6 minutes walk to transport (Train Station, Metro), attractions (Catacombs, Liberation Museum, Montparnasse Cemetery)..varied choices for food nearby(restaurants, fruit markets, supermarkets, patisseries, fast food)..excellent staff
Downside - not the best overall value for money... rooms small...larger rooms available elsewhere for same price..breakfast was adequate...no items in mini fridge..not even the usual free water offered like at other 4 star accomodations

A random search led me to this property. It is just 10-minute leisurely walk from the action of the Montparnasse station, which makes for a quieter stay. The RER station is just up the street, barely 5 minutes away. That train takes you straight into CDG airport. Very convenient and cheap. The hotel is located right across the street from the Montparnasse cemetery where many celebrities’ graves can be visited. The hotel makes a great impression. It looks very French. I had booked a superior room and was not disappointed…once I turned off all heating upon entering the room. Not sure why the room temp was set at 25c (82F!), but once turned off and opening all windows, it cooled off promptly with the average temps outside. Fairly large room, a balcony with a view of the Tour Montparnasse and the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Good desk space and very well laid out. Bathroom was a tad cramped, but very functional. Tastefully decorated. A large bed, which was really two beds put together. Less my thing, but worked. There is also a fridge…though it was not working properly. This being said, it generally made for a very enjoyable stay. Would definitely consider it again.

It is a cozy small hotel at the heart of Montparnasse. There are plenty of cafes and bistrots nearby if you crave something. It is also close (5 min walk) to Denfert-Rochereau metro and bus station from where you can take a direct bus to Orly or a direct train (RER) to CDG airport.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of days and we enjoyed it immensely. The rooms are small but cozy and ours had a nice street view. Breakfast was always fresh and delicious (juice, croissants, coffee, eggs, jam, butter). I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to return there!

The staff was not very nice or accommodating. They had construction going on in the room across from me and it was extremely noisy. Mini fridge was hot. Blow dryer did not work properly! Bath french windowdoors did not open. Room is very old and extremely small. I asked for laundry services and thry charged me a ridiculous $300!! RIppoff! i received no help with my luggage when leaving. Nobody spoke English except 1 person. I dont recommend to anybody!!

Uniqueness of the property is the interior design and the look. Everything including the furniture is very cozy, it had a old design which made it look very classy. Nicola at the reception is very helpful. Pang at the restaurant is very friendly and hospitable. We loved the breakfast and it's setup.

The property and service are good for the price. There are a couple things that could be improved. First, is the bathroom. The shower stainless steel knobs and shower head need replacement. They are inconvenient to use and it is difficult to get the right water temperature. Sometimes the water temperature changes up and down while showering. The shower also needs a curtain, not just a small glass door that covers very little. The sink area is tiny with little room to keep even a toiletries bag.

I would’ve liked an iron inside the room. It costs hardly anything but they only have a few for all rooms combined. I would’ve also liked USB ports in the room. Most modern hotels have them. A world travel adapter would’ve been a nice touch as I forgot mine and had to walk a mile to a mall to buy one.

The bed was a double bed but short for me. The staff said that is the longest length they are allowed in Paris, which to me seemed strange. I need a queen bed (80” length) but I knew going in that the bed would be a double.

The staff was nice and helpful.

One of the clerks at the hotel was not helpful when I was trying to buy a train ticket to another city in France, said do it on your Iphone, I don't know about trains. I had an Ipad, but it wasn't working well. Same clerk tried to sell me into going to CDG by taxi, said it was 60 Euros, said I didn't want to pay that much and he said how about 55?(wasn't going to take a taxi anyway)Asked about special buses to CDG leaving nearby, said he didn't know. Implied that RER was unreliable and dangerous I went for ca 11 euros, with perfectly reliable service and Parisians going to work and tourist going to CDG. Obviously a scam.
