Our family had an outstanding stay at Hotel Casa Don Luis. From the moment we arrived, Morelis Bello welcomed us warmly and handled both our check-in and check-out flawlessly. She was professional, attentive, and especially thoughtful in catering to our children’s needs, which made our stay smooth and stress-free.
Whenever Morelis was off, Jairo Doval stepped in and provided the same exceptional level of service. He was friendly, efficient, and made us feel equally valued and cared for.
A special thank you as well to Eduardo, who hosted breakfast each morning with warmth and attention to detail. He made every morning enjoyable and welcoming for our family.
The entire team went above and beyond to create a memorable experience. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning!

The place was beautiful and very well located. However, the entire property was dark, the hallways and stairs were dangerous without proper illumination. The hotel tries to create ambiance with the candlelight illumination but it is dangerous when you circulate and need to go up or down stairs. And the whole feeling is like being in a cloister, long dark, quiet corridors. Also the pool while beautiful and well kept is unusable as it sits right in front of the dining area.

We loved our stay right from the arrival. Our concierge, Eduardo was phenomenal. Waiter, Juan Carlos was an absolute pleasure. We had the best attention and place was lovely. The bed and pillows were divine and I slept like a baby. The blinds - oh my! I woke up rested every day. Another positive was the location. We felt safe, shops, restaurants, sightseeing, airport was close - walking distance and uber rides less than 10 mins. I would definitely book our stay here again. If you get a chance to go to the spa- I strongly recommend it, the masseuse ladies were wonderful.

My stay at Casa Don Luis was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel has a beautiful and charming structure that blends colonial architecture with modern touches. It offers a truly peaceful and private atmosphere, something that can be rare in Cartagena’s historic center. I was able to rest without any noise — an absolute luxury in such a vibrant city.

The cleanliness throughout the property was impeccable — from the rooms to the common areas, everything was spotless and carefully maintained.

The breakfast was varied and delicious, offering both local and international options, beautifully presented and served in a cozy setting.

I want to highlight the outstanding service I received from José Visbal and Eduardo Galindo. Their kindness, attention to detail, and professionalism truly made my stay unforgettable.

Cons? It’s Cartagena, it means happiness, music, warmth people, smiles. I know it’s a French hotel, but hello, the hotel is in Colombia. Tourists want to feel their culture. Employees are too serious and saying madame all the time sounds ridiculous. Not their fault, obviously it’s what they need to do. Music (of course only from the hotel) at the beach would give a nice Caribbean touch. Also, the cocktails (not cheap at all) had little alcohol)
The rest, the hotel is amazing. I will come back.

The lobby is very nice and the room size is excellent. We had problems with the hot water that took a day to sort out. Bed and bedding was very comfortable and the bathroom huge. The disconcerting thing is that the room has a window that looks into a fldark hallway. Therefore there was no natural lighting in the room. I believe that should be advertised as it important to me. Breakfast was ok.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but our stay was tainted by the fact that the airline deleted our tickets so we were a day and a half late arriving. Considering all that we went through, the hotel would not consider comping our first night that we missed through no fault of our own…or anything for that matter. The breakfast was good but not fabulous. The property is unique with a very zen vibe (think Middle Eastern flavour). The staff were lovely and very service oriented. The location within the walled city was very convenient with lots of nightlife and restaurants on your doorstep.

The hotel reminded us of something out of Casablanca or Indiana Jones. It was centrally located. There were only stairs to the second floor where our room was located. It was not an issue for us, but it was a bit challenging for the older couple we were traveling with.

The hotel took a long time for checkout and was confused about the payment and could have charged us two times. They did not provide water and the room service was not too great. Breakfast service is also very slow. But its centrally located and a beautiful property and good to consider.

Really nice hotel, its quiet,nice rooftop pool and very well located. The food is really good. The main strengh of the hotel is the personnel. Everyone was really nice but I have to mention that Edurdo, the concierge and Jairo, the manager, were very helpful. Edurdo always did follow ups to make sure everything was to our liking. we felt very safe. Jairo, at the front desk, was always available to answer our questions and to find a solution to our inquiries. I have no hesitation to recommend the hotel. My only concern is some rooms don't have a window looking outside so it could be very dark.

Cold shower only for days, the property does not mention there are a ton of staircases to get to your room, not a good surprise when you have injuries. Unknown bug in my bed. The worst is the lack of any concern when informing the property of any challenges. For $500-$700 a night, the service should be welcoming and reassuring not dismissive. Do not recommend.

For the amount that we paid for this property, it was far far overrated. With their “complementary breakfast “you had to pay for water; in terms of their in room coffee they limit how much you can have free coffee (I’ve never experienced that before ever in my 18 years of travel), otherwise you had to pay, which is ridiculous. They don’t even have Kleenex in the hotel room, and I had to repeatedly ask for a spoon because they were not willing to give me a spoon. I get far better treatment and services and amenities at the Best Western for 1/3 of the price.

Second time there and it’s still a 5 star boutique hotel. They added so many great upgrades since my last visit. An actual speak easy bar hidden within the walls of the front lobby only for hotel guests is a unique touch. The only downside is for my makeup ladies the lighting isn’t good in the bathroom for makeup.

It was so nice to have a really strong AC unit in Cartagena. My room was dark and cool and comfy. The reception was exceptional and let me check in at noon, even though check in wasn’t for a few hours. They helped me book a cab for the airport. Would highly recommend staying here!

I prefer not to get into detail, but if you have a second person in your room they will charge you. Even though I clearly marked and it was on my reservation that there would be two people. They still charged $70/day! No where is that in writing. I was kind of held captive to pay it. I’ll never come back. It’s unfortunate, because it is a nice property. They’re sneaky! Also tried to charge me for drinks I didn’t use from the mini bar and a stuffed animal that was clearly left on the bed.

The staff was excellent! They were definitely the highlight. The location was very good. The room lacked natural sunlight. But, the decor and the lighting made up for it. The staff Angie and Laura were great! They were very helpful with suggestions and were quite pleasant and kind. The cafe/restaurant staff, especially Juan Carlos and Eduardo and there were 2 others (didn't get their names). They were incredibly nice and helpful. I truly appreciated the welcome drink and cold mint towels were a fantastic touch!

The rooms were spacious and clean and comfy. The hotel was in a quiet area, but in walking distance to everything.
I wish the pool was a little larger, but it served the purpose and I enjoyed it.

My husband and I loved everything about our stay at Casa Don Luis. We stayed in the king suite with the corner balcony. From the decor to cleanliness to the staff. We celebrated his 40th birthday. They remembered and at breakfast sang happy birthday to him. The location was excellent . Everything in the old town was within walking distance with unlimited restaurants and cafes to choose from. It was truly an awesome experience. I would recommend this hotel for years to come.

overpriced boutique hotel , the front desk has very limited english and hospitality skills, they try to charge you for everything on top of the expensive room, As a all is pretty much Cartagena the disappointment, overpriced hotels and it is very very humid hot even in April, its a pretty little town of endless similar tourist shops, street vendors selling the same things..and people harassing you to get your money, with not much to see beside the historical center colonial architecture. spending a day is enough to see it all. there is better place to go in Colombia with better climate and better attitude.

Staff and service were excellent, great breakfast every morning, a little something different for the 3 days that we stayed. There was a bit of renovation going on while we were there but the noise and visuals were kept to a minimum. Overall amazing stay and would definitely return.

It was sort of nice, but weird. I had two rooms, and neither had a normal window. The first room, I had a window looking over the lobby and dining room, which didn't offer daylight or seem very private, so I asked for another room. The second room, I had two portholes, which made it feel like I was on a ship. I could see up and out, but that meant mostly sky but also the rooftop deck, which means anyone there had a view back at me.

The property and rooms are gorgeous, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. My one disappointment is that the main pool is in the middle of the dining room so it’s a bit awkward to go for a swim. There’s a rooftop jacuzzi as well but during the day, I’d like a more shaded/cooler option for swimming. I would stay again though. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean.

There wasn't anything not to like about our stay at Casa Don Luis by Faranda Boutique. There was a full free breakfast bar with pastries and freshly made juices daily with made to order eggs any style, pancakes and waffles. The overall ambiance and service in the hotel was above and beyond. We have already recommended Don Luis to a fellow traveler on our flight home from Colombia, and will contiinue to recommend the hotel to any future Cartagena travelers.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. It was serene and decorated to perfection. The staff was amazing. I absolutely loved our stay here and would go back in a heart beat.
There wasn't anything I didn't like other that our first room was by the dining room but when we requested another room they were very helpful and we were completely satisfied.

I recently stayed at Hotel Casa Don Luis, and it was a fantastic experience overall.

The location is unbeatable—within walking distance to everything in the Walled City. The staff, especially Javier, were incredibly nice and helpful. Javier went above and beyond each time we needed assistance.

The hotel's restaurant surprised me, especially being from New York City. The Italian food was unexpectedly amazing; I still think about it. However, breakfast was a bit underwhelming—small with just fruits, pastries, and eggs. I'd recommend exploring local breakfast spots nearby.

The rooftop pool offers a great view and is a fantastic place to relax. Just a tip: the pool on the first level is near the restaurant and might feel a bit odd, so head upstairs for a better experience.

Our room was spacious, with a perfect temperature that provided a comfortable escape from the humid weather outside.

Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Casa Don Luis. It's a gem in the heart of the Walled City, and I'd definitely consider staying here again in the future.

This property is absolutely amazing and the staff is truly exceptional! I will definitely be booking this hotel next time I am in Cartagena! We were 2 sisters traveling alone and we felt very safe which is very important to us. I also have to mention the hotel restaurant, it was phenomenal. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely polite and attentive! If you are visiting Cartagena I would highly recommend you book this hotel!
