I want to take a moment to recognize Rahma at the front desk—her customer service was exceptional. When we arrived, the room we reserved with two beds was not available, and only a king room remained. We were on a tight schedule for a concert and needed to get ready quickly, so waiting wasn’t really an option.

Rahma immediately stepped in with solutions. She offered a rollaway bed and, more importantly, went above and beyond by offering to comp our dinner to make up for the inconvenience. That level of attentiveness and care made a stressful moment feel completely manageable. That’s what true customer service looks like.

I’ve stayed at the Hilton Pennywell in St. Louis multiple times, and experiences like this are exactly why I keep coming back. The location is great, the bar is always a go-to spot for us, and the food is consistently delicious.

I also want to acknowledge the bar staff. The young woman serving us was clearly very busy but still did her best to stay attentive, and the gentleman who delivered our food was kind and professional. Together, they made our experience even better.

Overall, this team made a lasting impression. The Hilton Pennywell has become my go-to hotel whenever I’m in St. Louis.

The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The room left a lot to be desired. A half-used roll of toilet paper, an empty tissue box, and a spent conditioner container that was never refilled were disappointing, as was having to spend 30 minutes scanning for channels because no one had bothered to set the television up properly. Very first world problems, but we expected more from Hilton. Will likely choose competitors in the future, but you hired great people at your front desk and restaurant staff. They should be commended. I have no doubt the cleaning staff are bound by corporate penny pinchers ruining the kind of experience excellence that was the norm in our parents’ day.

Breakfast was not included in the already high price of the room. If youregoing to hace to pay for breakfast, then just go to a restaurant near by. The valet guy was great, the check in girl was super friendly. The evening front desk clerk was very rude and dismissive, didn't even look up when asked if the bar served food? Our bathroom had the used towels from the previous guest and the beds were very uncomfortable. We sank into the middle when we laid down. Will not be staying there again.

Our stay at the Pennywell was great! We arrived before checkout but we were able to leave our bags at the front desk so we could explore. We were in town for Opening Day and the hotel was very close to the stadium, which was great. It is also super close to the Arch as well. Lots of food options around the hotel to check out. Room was clean and well kept. Although, our view was less than desirable as our window faced a brick wall but, we spent most of our time in St. Louis out and about. But, if thats important to you, you might want to request a specific room. Overall, great stay and I'd stay again if we went back to St. Louis!

The only major drawback occurred over the weekend when one of the main elevators went out of service. While mechanical issues are understandable, the lack of communication was frustrating. There was no signage posted at the elevator banks to alert guests or direct them to the service stairs/alternative lifts. This led to a lot of confusion and long wait times in the lobby, which took away from the otherwise seamless \"vibe\" of the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its excellent location and superb staff. If they can improve their internal communication and guest signage during maintenance issues, it would easily be a five-star stay.

Clean room, excellent housekeeping. More than enough towels and wash cloths. Loved the ability to have a digital key. Check out was smooth and easy. My only complaint was that check in took quite a while i requested a digital key and it took over an hour to receive. The security deposit was slightly over 100 dollars for 2 nights.

Everything was very nice and enjoyable. My one complaint - which, I might add was a Very, Very big issue - was addressed and the charge for my overnight parking was comped. I feel it very inappropriate to charge $80 for 2 nights of parking if the parking garage is not even attached to the facility. In sub zero windchill temps, NOONE wants to trapse across even ONE city block with suitcases and bags to make their way to the lobby of their Hilton stay. And, if I it IS necessary that I do so and ask my guest to do so ... I sure do not expect to have to pay an additional $80 to do so. But, as I said, the fee was comped. Morning of departure, the elevator in the freezing parking structure that was around the block had a not operational sign. So, to further enhance the experience, my 53 year old stiff body with a torn ACL had to cart all of my luggage up the ramp three floors. Needless to say, not how I was hoping to depart from my relaxing weekend trip. It IS peculiar that I was charged $40 a night but refunded only $61. AND, as i had this unexpected fee upon arrival (yes, it is partially on my own accord as I did not read the fine print) I cut out the Christmas at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens tour to make up for the extra expense. So, we missed that as I did not receive the refund until my return back home.
So, it was $20 short and a day late on the cancelled garden tour ... but, at this point, I think it is what it is. Thank you.

Their rooms were very nice and clean and well put together in their design. However, the beds and the pillows were not so good. Our pillows were so flat. I have severe neck pain and was not able to sleep comfortably the three nights we were there. We could not get comfortable in the bed. We tossed and turned all night. It felt like we were thinking in the mattress. It was very uncomfortable.

Hilton is known for its good breakfast. That was the whole reason I chose this hotel. We stayed for 3 days with kids and on all 3 days the hotel was NOT able to offer breakfast. Giving excuses that the chef is not in and they can only offer coffee and a frozen pastry.

First room was very dirty, chips and crumbs on the ground, blood spotted sheets, gross carpet. Got a new room which was better, but still dirty, blood stain and brown stain on carpet, pee spots in bathroom. I felt gross walking around without shoes.

Restaurant got both my and my friends' orders wrong. Overpriced for the area. Food staff seemed like they didn't like the guests. Seems like most tables had something wrong with their orders.

Find a better place to stay.

Eager-to-please staff, beautiful corner room, attractive lobby, nice location. The downside of this hotel is its restaurant: overpriced, uninspired food, limited choices. We had lunch there and the shrimp was over salted and peppered, with a few scrawny tidbits of focaccia. This is a shame because the setting - a beautiful old bank lobby - is wonderful. Breakfast was better in quality, but eggs and sausage and coffee for two should not cost $50.

The building was beautiful but the hotel was not what we expected. Parking was not provided.

Our room was clean but the hotel elevator smelled like weed as well as our bathroom, we left the door open to air it out. The mechanical systems running through the room were loud, we could hear toilets flushing upstairs and the AC in the room was loud clicking and humming all night.

Over all our room that was advertised at the rate of $156 cost around $350 with parking and breakfast.

The hotel is beautiful! The rooms are gorgeous. Nice and clean. I requested extra blankets and they arrived quickly. My only complaint… the hotel doesn’t have Diet Coke. I ordered French toast for room service. The food wasn’t great. It was too trendy for me. Just plain ole French toast with butter and syrup would have been great. We were able to walk to everything and didn’t even need our car. We would definitely stay there again.

Check in was awkward. I did the digital check in and selected parking but still needed to go in to the desk to do the standard check in. Did all that only for the rep not to add parking to my stay so I had to make a second trip to the desk for a parking pass. Another thing I found surprising is when I asked if they had check-in cookies, the rep laughed as if she’d never heard of such and that I was asking a silly question. I thought her response was rude. I also found the parking inconvenient. It’s in a garage across the street that is not connected to the hotel so I had to walk in the rain to get back and forth to my car. It was also super inconvenient to keep up with a small paper parking pass in order to get in and out of the garage in the rain. It would’ve been more convenient if the parking was also digital like the room key. Lastly the room temperature was miserable. When I arrived it was warm and the thermostat showed 78. I attempted to set it to 68. It got a little bit cooler but not much. When I slept through the night I thought I was having a hot flash until I looked at the thermostat and it read 80! Again I tried turning the ac down to 62. I think the lowest it got was 73. I will not be returning to this property. The look and location are nice but the details were lacking. There were other issues as well that the staff resolved.

We requested a room with a view of the Arch. The accommodation was made easily and we had a partial view. The room, King bed, was appropriatly furnished with excellent amenities. The staff from the front desk to the valet were all excellent. They went above and beyond on every request made of them.

I stayed here October 4-5 my card was twice for the same room. And it immediately came up my phone as a alert, I spoke with the front desk clerk and she stated that wasn't the case until I show her my alert on the phone and spoke with Manager Ryan this morning I was charged 633.00 for room that shouldn't cost 318.00 explain?? Which resulted in my acct overdrafts with fee.

The minute you walk in to the Hilton Pennywell you are hit with Aromatherapy...the scent brings you a sense of peace and Serenity. The customer service of the staff is next level! The decor is impeccable, food is delicious, the beds are second to none and the showers take you straight to HEAVEN! It's location is near many attractions and restaurants that are walkable. Ordered a drink in the bar after returning from a baseball game. Waited 1/2 hour to be told they didn't have the wine we ordered and then after waiting 40 minutes for a second order without receiving it, we went across the street to the Hyatt. Parking was very confusing.

Customer service and cleanliness needs work.

Room was very dusty and loud. Slamming doors and traffic outside on 4th street all night kept us awake. Walls and windows provided zero noice insulation. The service was not up to par. Bar was not appropriately staffed for a Saturday night and the bartender used explicit language expressing displeasure when a cocktail was ordered rather than a beer or wine. Very disrespectful and disappointing. Check in/out reception was quick but acted like they didn’t want to be bothered with questions for out of town suggestions.

While I understand that the front desk staff is not at fault, I was disappointed to discover that the bed sheets in my room were in unacceptable condition. While I greatly appreciate the professionalism of the front desk staff in quickly moving us to another room, it was still a discouraging first impression.

Earlier, when dining on-site, we found the kitchen was out of several requested items, including the blackening seasoning, a number of entrées, and even standard beverages such as soda and juice.

As this is both my first time in this state and my first stay at this property, I had hoped for a more welcoming experience. As an Honors member, I expected a higher level of service and consistency than what has been provided thus far.

This hotel is in a very cool, super classy former bank. We only stayed one night but the staff was very friendly and attentive. Everything in the lobby was bright and clean. The room and bathroom were both spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location was great. Easy walk to nearby shops, places to eat, the Arch, Busch Stadium. I would definitely stay again.

Stayed one night while visiting a friend who lives in St Louis. Location is good, walking distance to the arch and some dining options. We parked across the street at an apartment building a little cheaper than what the hotel offers. Hotel is very nice, clean & updated. Check in was easy & friendly. Didn’t eat at the on site restaurant but got snacks for the room at the snack stand which was convenient. Would stay here again if I’m ever in St Louis.

Had to sit around and wait for check in for a couple hours before our room was ready. Even though my sister’s family was offered $20 for early check in, we were not given that option. Got the key from the front desk when they said it was ready. Go up to our room and housekeeping is still in there and it’s nowhere close to ready. Had to wait 1.5 more hours to finally get into our room. They gave us 2 free drinks and tried to get us into a smaller room that wouldn’t work for us. Poor communication. Housekeeping was super slow. Bar was understaffed and out of a lot of stuff. Breakfast service to get seated was slow, for an average breakfast buffet. Nice hotel but seemed extremely understaffed and slow, main floor where you wait was 80+ degrees. Valet service was the best part about the hotel stay!
