We stayed for two nights. The location was perfect just a short walk to the tube. The hotel has the friendliest staff I have ever met. Whoever we spoke to could not do enough for us. The room was clean and had everything we needed but could do with an update. The bathroom door didn't close properly and a lick of paint wouldn't have gone a miss but it certainly didn't spoil our time there and would certainly not stop us from staying again.

We stayed at the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington during a recent trip to London and found the experience to be average at best.

The most frustrating issue was the complete lack of hand soap in our room upon check-in. We called housekeeping and were eventually brought a single tiny bar of soap that was broken into tinier pieces. After requesting a proper replacement a second time, no additional soap was ever delivered for the remainder of our stay.
Attention to basic housekeeping details seemed to be lacking throughout. The toilet paper roll on the dispenser was already half-used when we arrived, and the spare roll left on the counter was also only half full.

While the windows did an excellent job blocking outside noise, the walls between rooms were extremely thin. We could clearly hear conversations from the neighboring room late into the night, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

Room service was another disappointment. When placing an online order, we specifically requested extra napkins and ketchup. Room service even called to confirm the order and repeated our request back to us. Despite this, neither the extra napkins nor the ketchup were included when the food arrived.

The hotel's location in Kensington is convenient, and the windows provide good insulation from street noise, but the lack of attention to simple guest needs and repeated service failures left us underwhelmed. Overall, this was a mediocre stay that did not meet expectations.

Finest of all there were no disabled bays there were too near the front doors but were completely coned off for our entire stay , we had to park in the under ground carpark couldn’t find any disabled bays and had to cart our luggage up three flights of steps and countless heavy doors , me using a stick made it impossible for me asked about disabled bays and were just told there is some
We were given a choice of upgrading our standard room to a club room for £40 + £18 parking for 24 hrs or pay £38 for 24 hrs parking this is different to what was on the website as it was £27 pounds for 24 hrs on there
The room was clean and fresh but what we didn’t realise was the air conditioning heating system in our room a club room wouldn’t switch off and made a very very loud noise all night to the extent we couldn’t sleep and had to call reception at 12 pm it took them half an hour to send an engineer up to look who told us yes it was making an unacceptable noise but he couldn’t turn the system off as it was for the whole hotel
My husband had to then get dressed and visit reception in person , we had to move rooms at 1 am in the morning to a room one floor down and on the other side of the hotel we were told that trains ran this see but finish at 1 pm they didn’t we had train noise till at least 2am before we finally were able to sleep , this rooms view was also of the city sky line but the windows in there were filthy and you couldn’t actually see out of them as they were that dirty

I have stayed at this hotel several times this year, mainly due to its convenient location. On this occasion the room was very tired looking with broken or inadequate furniture and both the room and the bathroom in need of modernisation and redecoration. The room was also very cold, the hotel heating apparently being turned off on a fixed date without any allowance given for the variable English Summer temperatures. The room was also rather noisy with an adjoining room door and presumably thin walls enabling me to hear the television and conversation from the adjoining room. In the past, the rooms have been very good so I assume on this occasion I was just unlucky. It has however made me think twice about booking this hotel in future.

Disliked strongly: check-in experience, complicated cafe menu, adding tips without warning, no coffee stir stick or spoon in room , breakfast experience also very bad, on 75% of the visits not enough coffee machines to handle demand , plates cold and food again 75% was lukewarm warm, the bread and toast machine a real joke, no bacon ,just warmed or dried ham, no butter on one occasion , result: only the potato fritters were not cold by the time one had finally collected their breakfast. The table tops felt sticky to one’s bare arms , the juice glasses were always warm, congrats! The food lids and tweezers were awkward and the table clearers overzealous to move people out. The concierge told me one day about ten pound for uber to the coach stn,that cost me thirty when I asked for it the next day.
Another thing I particularly resent here and with Raddison Blu is the auto tv hotel commercial thats hard to get rid of. Corporatate smart - Alex money mizers that forget the guests experience!

Just spent nearly a week at the Copthorne Tara. Room was a bit shabby and dated ( although I don’t care about the latter), but clean. And for what I paid, the size of the room was great, and it was just a standard double. Staff helpful. Excellent location near the High Street Kensington Tube stop, and Hyde Park-Kensington Gardens, which is important to me because I love wandering through that park.

this hotel has an excellent location, only about two blocks from the High St., Kensington tube station with plenty of restaurants and shopping within a short walk. It is also very close to Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. The only thing I would recommend is if the hotel add more outlets since everyone needs to charge their phones and tablets. I would recommend a multi outlet on the nightstand that separates the two beds. Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean but very outdated and the AC had a hard time cooling the room. The shower pressure is amazing but the toilet struggles to flush. The hotel is very close to public transportation so that is very convenient, and there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. In the UK it's listed as a 4 star hotel. I'm the US it would be a 2 or maybe 3.
The breakfast buffet at The Green Stag (in the hotel) is really good and worth paying for as part of your room package.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. My previous stay was excellent; I opted for a double room. This time, I chose a standard room. My room was quite small, with a low ceiling. I was on a mezzanine floor marked M. There were a lot of food smells, and I could hear a lot of noise from the room next door. I think the room next to mine was an office, and there was a locked door between our rooms. This worried me. Transportation was very easy and the place was central, but my room was on a mezzanine floor, so I could see a wall through my window and had limited sunlight.

Staff were super helpful and friendly. General room amenities were as expected and everything was well stocked. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the decor and maintenance. The soap/shampoo dispensers in the bathroom were not well mounted onto the wall and would fall off the wall if used with just one hand. The carpets look like something out of the 80s and the air conditioning really doesn't work. Not good on the hottest May day on record! However, for the price, it was a great location and the friendliness of the staff makes up for the lack of investment in the property.

Arrived 1 hour before check in. Was advised room is not ready due to compliance checks. Was told to leave bags with concierge who are apparently open till 12 midnight. Arrived back at 9pm and waited 30 mins to collect bags. Only 2 members of staff working and serving multiple areas. Room okay but bathroom was appalling. Dirty towel, blocked basin drain, extractor fan not working and toilet took 30 mins to refill. Relayed this to a gentleman on the desk who stated \"oh that's unfortunate, next time you come, tell this to the manager and we can see what we do\". Funnily or sadly enough the same reception staff were pandering to a lady, offering upgrades and token gifts. When the face fits. I got the impression the chap at the front desk thought I was making it all up. So much for not being able to check in an hour early due to ensuring the room is \"ready and checked over\". Very Poor service. Wouldn't come back again and would advice others not to come too.

And the \"Promised\" free drinks didnt happen for my Birthday - I had to chase up 3 times before eventually get offered 2 free drinks for my wife an myself. Initially given a club room that was designed for a single person. Desk tight up against the very small bed was dangerous at night. Bath slippery and dangerous and various facilities well out of date. Helpful reservations manager moved us to more acceptable room after the first night. Overall a hotel that was old and showed it with a staff that tries hard to deal with the various problems. Would not recommend.

The room was clean and tidy and had all that was needed. The hotel is situated in a good location just 5 minutes from the tube and high street . The room was nice and quiet. Staff were all pleasant and helpful apart from one person who dealt with our left luggage who was a bit miserable .
The big thing that brought down the star rating for us was that the hotel charges for left luggage . It is very disappointing that when you have spent a night with a hotel that luggage is charged for . I have not known a hotel to do this in the UK .Whilst it is not huge sums of money it is the principle of the matter .

The hotel was in a very convenient location, close to everything from grocery stores to restaurants and transit, which made getting around incredibly easy. The staff were all lovely, welcoming, and very helpful throughout my stay.

The room itself was quite spacious, especially considering the price and location, although the decor and furnishings did feel a little dated and tired. The breakfast was good and very convenient to have on-site each morning.

One thing worth noting for North American travellers is that while the air conditioning worked well by European standards, it wasn’t as strong or cool as what you might expect in North America. Another small downside was the limited storage space. There was a closet, but no dressers or drawers to properly unpack clothing.

Overall, I had a very good stay. As a solo traveller, I found the location excellent and felt incredibly safe throughout my time there, which made a huge difference to my overall experience. Between the convenient location, friendly staff, and good value for the space, I would definitely stay here again.

I’d bought this stay for my daughter and family. Firstly, I booked for 2 adults and a child, double room but I’d assumed that there’d be a pull out bed for the child. Breakfast was included. Prior to the date I had an email from the hotel, not hotels.com asking if I wanted to buy extras. I bought (and thought, paid too) for early check in from 9am. I had confirmation from the ‘manager’. Family arrived at round midday to check in. They were told that they couldn’t and that there was no early check in…. They weren’t offered a luggage store facility either and from what I was told by a very upset daughter, reception staff were rude and unhelpful. They did manage to check in at around 2pm and the room was nice, but it sort of soured their stay. And it’s not a cheap hotel. In fact my daughter said if I’d not already paid, she’d have gone next door to the Holiday Inn which is what I’d book in future if I wanted to stay in that location. This was very disappointing for a special night. I tried to ring the hotel to sort it all out, and was told there’s no managers on at the weekend. I then spoke to Madeleine who, on the phone to me and eating her lunch (that’s what it sounded like) and was most unhelpful and blamed hotels.com. It’s the worst experience in all the years I’ve used this site.

I am a regular visitor to this hotel and every time I have been here has been an excellent service and experience, however on this stay, I felt the room we stayed in was very tired, in need of some upgrades.
I was disappointed with the hairdryer not working. The water leaked through the shower door, all over the floor. I dried this up, but overall the room was not up to good standard and disappointed overall.
I have booked this hotel for a few more visits this year and have also recommended it to my friends. I hope the rooms booked in the next coming months are good/excellent standard.

This hotel is alongside a railway line. If you are happy being woken at 05.30hrs and listening to trains rumble past then you will be delighted with your stay.

Where to begin? The room was extremely tired and the cleanliness was poor.

There were: people’s pubes on the sheets, one of the towels had old black gum stuck to it, hairs in the bath, there was a suspicious brown drip stain underneath the toilet roll holder.

I was in a non smoking room and it stank of stale smoke (presumably because the carpet was about 25 years old). The bathroom had black mould growing on the silicon.

but i can’t blame the cleaners for giving up. There’s only so much polishing of a turd you can do.

We traveled with a 1-year-old and were unfortunately placed on a floor that was under construction during our stay. The noise was very disruptive, especially during nap time and overnight, which made it difficult for our baby to sleep comfortably.

The room itself was clean, and the staff was attentive and friendly. The hotel is also in a great location with easy access to public transportation and many attractions around London, which was definitely a plus.

However, the room felt extremely small for two adults and a baby. We were also disappointed that the only sleeping option offered for our child was a playpen rather than an actual crib. Combined with the construction noise, it made traveling with a young child more challenging than expected.

We also felt that the hotel was outdated and gave more of an “upscale motel” feel than what we anticipated from the photos online. Overall, if you’re looking for a convenient place to stay for a quick trip to London, it’s not a terrible option — but families with small children may want to consider other accommodations.

The first room that was provided was on the 7th floor and felt like the train was rolling through the room. There is a train every five minutes and it was extremely noisy. Went to reception and was told that if I wanted a quiet option on the other side of the hotel, it would be $30GBP per night. Do not book if you are looking for a relaxing stay.

On arrival the staff were nice and I was very excited about the stay but unfortunately the experience became upsetting the following morning.

A few hours before checkout, a man attempted to enter the room without warning (I was not currently dressed). Thankfully, I had engaged the chain lock on the door, otherwise he would have entered the room.

I understand mistakes can happen, but after sharing this experience using their feedback forms, I had simply received and email stating they have recieved the feedback. So I am currently unsure if an explanation or apology for the situation is going to be given but as of yet I have recieved nothing which is not the most reassuring.

This is dissapointing as this would have become a go to hotel for me when staying in London due to the convenience of the location.

I stayed at this hotel many years ago. It's exactly the same, so in dire need of room updates. I booked a superior room and the first one they sent us to seemed like it had been left for dead, like a college dorm room. There were no pictures on the wall. The furniture was super cheap, the bedding almost non-existent, and the bathroom was gross. I went to the front desk to complain and the manager gave us a new room which was appointed like the pictures which I appreciated. That said, the bathroom had no fan and dirty water would drip from the ceiling and the windows are so old they had mould around the edges. The furniture was even older. That said, the location is great and the ground floor tuck shop and cafe bar was excellent. We made it work but I will never stay there again.

Great location for us to enjoy our city/theatre weekend - with plenty of opportunity to explore the local area. Staff were friendly and polite at every interaction. Nice lobby, with plenty of seating, a cafe and access to bars and restaurants on that level. Our room was on the 4th floor at the rear of the hotel. It was warm in the room and when we reported it, we were happy it was sorted straight away. Extra double glazing ensured we never heard any noise from the trains passing by. While not the most luxurious room, it was light and airy, with (almost) everything we needed for our stay! Clean, fresh sheets and towels, a fridge to keep drinks cold; polite staff at every interaction. Will be back - as great base for us to explore from.

We opted to eat here on our first night and were not disappointed. Good selection of nibbles, starters, mains and desserts. I opted for the papaya salad - crisp and fresh with a lightly spicy marinade, and husband had crispy prawns, followed by beef rendang for me, and nasi goreng for husband. We finished off with banana fritters and mango cheesecake. All beautifully presented, very enjoyable. Staff were friendly and helpful, and while we were there, enjoyed a bottle of wine to finish it all off.
The Green Stag
A bargain is always good - and half price drinks are great! We enjoyed a couple of drinks before our dinner in the relaxed atmosphere of this 'pub' in the hotel. Again, the staff were friendly.

I tried to phone reception from the room phone but that did not work. When we mentioned it when checking out 30m later we were told that we should have reported it earlier! Also had intermittent issues with there being no cold water form the mixer tap which only ran hot water.

So to be completely honest, this is a good hotel. The rooms are a little tired, and some of the amenities in the rooms are a bit antiquated BUT it is clean, comfortable and good value for money. The best part about this hotel is the wonderful team of staff. From the check in, to the breakfast team, everyone is smiling and friendly and genuine and for this reason I would stay again. Breakfast was hot, tasty and plentiful and this hotel reminds me of being on holiday with it's layout and decor. A little TLC and this could be an amazing hotel.

This was my fourth stay at this hotel; I stay here for the good value and excellent location, as it’s near my favourite parks (Hyde and Holland) and a useful tube station. This stay was a little disappointing because the hotel is under constant construction. It was very disruptive throughout the day, especially as I’d hoped to work from my room during my 8-night stay. I was annoyed by this and the large, rowdy school group that arrived on my last night, partying next door and in the hallways of my (upgraded) room.

The hotel itself was as it’s always been: a bit dated but comfortable enough. The service is hit or miss, depending on whom you’re talking with. I recommend staying here for the location and value, as long as you aren’t looking for luxury. It beats other affordable options by a mile. I love that there are bathtubs in all the rooms and the rooms are quite large for central London. M&S and Boots are at the doorstep, and there are tonnes of great restaurants, pubs, and cafes nearby, as well as shopping and parks/gardens. It’s very, very safe and pretty quiet, too.

The double bed room assigned was smaller than I expected. I guess I could have made a mistake by not using a queen size room. The sink was a little bit clogged so water didn’t run through quickly so I had to wait in between usage. Toilet paper roll always jumped off from the rack, which was annoying.

Check in was OK although member of staff left the desk twice to check something about the booking and the room without explaining why...keeping a tired customer informed is helpful...she was just checking the room was ready.

Stopped four nights...second morning note pushed under door advising us to contact reception as we had not paid!!!! They had credit card details and hadn't taken the previous day...!

Room was not cleaned/refreshed unless we asked...only done twice in a four night stay.

Ignore the automated check out email. We completed it on the fourth day only to be told we still owed for three nights even though we had already paid in full as above. Manager confirmed all paid and this was an automated email...need to updated their automated processes.

Hotel was in a good location, clean, adequate but a little dated. We would have be quite happy with everything if check in had been completed properly, the room was refreshed daily without asking, and the automated system hadn't advised us we had a balance outstanding when we'd paid in full.

Great location, parking was available but limited and spaces were very small. Staff weee helpful we were offered an upgrade for £30 for this we got 2 x breakfast, 2 x coffee and cake, £5 food and early check in and a bigger room in the 12th floor. We had an issue with the toilet being blocked when we arrived, they did try to fix it but it wasn’t resolved. Room was clean, had all facilities needed. Hotel had happy hour at the bar from 3pm until 7pm. Two glasses of wine for £9 which was good. Breakfast was very busy but lots of choice. Would use again. Good value and would be better if we had a working toilet.

No soap- had to ask and even then they didn’t provide.
Booked double- ended with a twin. Second day, they put another bed in the room! 3 single beds. Had to call down to remove.
Backs on to rail line!
Had a course at the hotel. Won’t stay again.

Very noisy on second night. Some sort of trip running what sounded like races in corridor and room next door (415) was so loud I had to aske them to be quiet.
Bathroom needed updating. Very dated.

Great staff! Easy check in. Were able to accommodate us for early check in at 11 am from our 11 hour flight. Super friendly. Location was great. Felt super safe and close to lots of tube stops. Will stay here again on our next visit to London
