Don't stay here

The receiption seems to have only one staff member working 24/7. A screaming match with him and a guest met me on arrival. Migrants seem to live here full time. There was shouting all night. It was frightening and unsafe. I checked out early and left. Changed rooms also. Horrible experience. Filthy

This property was an enormous disappointment. We booked a non-smoking, king room and were given a room with two single beds on either side of the room, a small table/ledge that was covered with cigarette burns and a tiny window that was cracked open and filled with cigarette butts. We could not stay in the room due to overwhelming amount of second hand smoke in the place. The photos online look much, much nicer than the actual property. Would rate at 2 stars. Rather than refunding our money, the hotel owner walked us to another property “comfort inn” that was at least non-smoking and we stayed there, although there was black mold in the shower, the toilet didn’t function and there were folks purchasing and using controlled substances outside on the sidewalk when we got there.

Almost had no room to sleep in! AVOID!

I arrived to check in around 11pm, when I arrived there the door was shut and there was no one at lobby desk. There was another guy trying to checkin as well. Then we saw a note on the door saying checkin times have changed until 9pm on Satuday, although I didnt receive any information about it previously.
We both managed to get in since some people were getting out. From inside we managed to call the emergency number then someone picked up the phone telling us to call another number so they could check us in. I said I am already calling the emergency number could you pls call that number? He said alright call me back in 5min. We called back in 10min and the guy didnt pick up the phone any longer.
In the end I went over the counter myself and could see some keys with reservation papers there so I basically helped myself to the keys and gave the other keys to the other guy as well.
I had booked double room but they put me in a room with 3 single beds!
So next morning I explained the situation to the receptionist, he didnt apologise or bothered much about it, he said I was placed in a triple room because I was alone. They at least changed my room the second night.
At checkout same thing - no follow up or asked how my stay was or something, no apologies...
I did report everything to Hotels.com who contacted them who said their T&Cs dont allow refund....

PLEASE AVOID!

Good location.

Room was good. Proximity to the station most desirable.Although others have complained about the area I did not find it a problem. No wifi on hotel computers which is not the first time it has happened. I could not log my device in with the code I was given so that was disappointing.

The hotel location is good. It is near to go by foot old city, bridges, museums. Outside is so noisy in day and night time. Almost full night going Strassen Bahn, police and ambulance cars. The breakfast open time is little be late. It is 07:00. I have train 06:40 and no chance to go breakfast even I selected room with it.

the hotel was nightmare. The noise from the street was beyond every normality. In the bathroom we had beattle's, the toilet was leaking. But most annoying was the personal. I have had some experiences in Germany, but this was the limit. The girl at the desk offered me a park place without cost, next day I had to pay 32 euro at het colleague. The hotel is in a very bad shape, noisy old just a drama. You get much better offers at other places if you take into account ALL the cost of the stay. Please be advised that the streets are full with junkies and strikers, not exactly what we were looking for. We almost left the place at once but finally we accepted all the inconvenience for a night. The Clark next morning was so brutal and impolite, we have never ever experienced it like this.

My Superior Single Room was incredibly small. However, it was clean and the shower worked well. That said, the staff is quite helpful and the location is across the street from the Hauptbahnhof (central station). The area is seedy, so be careful, although no one really bothers you.

Great hotel for the money

Stayed in the Colour Hotel for one night midweek during a European heatwave.

The lady at reception when I checked in was really nice and helpful. We spoke in German mainly, but she also spoke very good English(when I didn’t understand the German). Check in was smooth very efficient.

My room was relatively nice for a one night stay. Nothing too fancy but it was clean and fairly modern(it definitely wasn’t old fashioned).

Not having a bathroom in the room is slightly strange but it wasn’t a problem. There was one bathroom on the second floor which also had a shower. The toilet/shower room was unisex.

The only 2 things I weren’t really thaaat bad/the hotel’s fault.
#1 - there seemed to be a pretty large gathering of people getting up to no good in the surrounding area towards the city centre at night. It was quite intimidating to walk through them and they seemed to be on every street towards the centre. Nothing the hotel can do about that and they were all gone by the morning. I was only there for one night so maybe that was a once off.

#2 - the noise. The hotel is right outside the Hbf(which is very handy), but there are also tram lines that run directly outside the hotel which can be quite loud. It was 27C at night when I stayed and the room didn’t have AC. This meant I had to leave the window open, which in turn let the noise in fully.

Overall, great value for the money. I’d recommend it, but there may be other better options too.

Wifi did not work in the room, so had to go down to the lobby. Curtains in my room were orange and as the light shined through gave the whole room an orange sheen, which I found unpleasant. Not good if you want to sleep when it's light outside if you can't sleep unless it's dark. Area around the Hauptbahnhof (main station) is a little dodgy, but I think probably safe. Otherwise, maybe what you'd expect for a 2.5 star hotel.

I love this hotel bcoz it’s only 5min walk away from Frankfurt am main Station.Very clean hotel and very friendly staff.All the shops near this hotel which u need like food shopping.All attractions are only about 15-20 min walk.I would like to book again if I plan to come frankfurt next time.

Super small and a little gross

I travel to Germany a few times each year. On my last trip to Frankfurt I tried this hotel based on the reviews. I am used to tiny rooms in meh locations near the train station, but this was worse than expected. Room was the smallest I have stayed at in Europe...bathroom door could not open all the day and I barely fit through the shower door opening. Was expecting a typical German breakfast spread, but found deli meats I would not eat, cold boiled eggs, and some packaged odds and ends. I was here 4 nights for a biz trip and grabbed breakfast outside, even though I had already prepaid at the hotel. You can find better in Frankfurt...just around the corner are 2 other hotels I have stayed at with 100% better everything.

To end on a positive note, this is a 5min walk from the main train station and they did let me check-in a few hours early which was awesome after a long trip.

So convenient to the train station (Bahnhof) which puts one with easy transport to the airport. I must say my room had the best shower in all the places I stayed while in Germany and France! Only drawback was the lack of a good pastry shop and coffee right in the near neighborhood. The neighborhood has its share of panhandlers, but they are not threatening.

Still a good value for s basic hotel

You'll get no amenities like hand cream or cotton swabs, but.if you want a place to sleep and shower, in a good location, this is usually a top value.... \"Location, location, location\". It's an old-school hotel in an older building, with mechanical room keys, but it has wifi, cable, and the heat and plumbing always work. We've stayed here 6 or 8 times over 10 years. This time I was happy they had updated the hallways with paint and carpet, and housekeeping seemed better. The Colour is a 3 minute walk to the main train station and there are U-Bahn and tram stops equally that nearby. The staff can speak English, and is friendly and helpful.

I guess you get what you pay for. 45 dollars a night and shared bath. But the bed was terrible. If you want to rest well avoid it the matress basically gets curved when you lay down. The less firm you can try. The staff is not that customer service oriented either. They seem to be more defensive than to pay attention.

Enjoyable alternative to Berlin

We chose Frankfurt as an alternative to a Berlin as the flights were cheaper. I really did not know what to expect. I took it as I found and enjoyed the differences. The skyscraper financial district with its huge collar and tie sculpture was a buzz. Then the contrast of the old town Romberg was back to the more Bavarian Germany. We had chicken and chips in the square which was really good for €10.00. This city is vibrant and financial. The Colour hotel was a small friendly hotel with good staff. We had a spacious and airy room with four single beds for myself my mum and two teenage girls. There was a small hang over balcony in ours. However as the hotel is on a busy main road it can be noisy at night. There are back rooms to change to I presume but don't let that put you off. They do buffet breakfast for €7.50 each if you want it downstairs.The girls enjoyed early evening walks around the city to the large blue Euro sign they have in the city centre. My mum and I took calmer walks down the banks of the river Main which is only a short walk from the Colour hotel and very pleasant. We went for three nights which was just enough and embraced It all. The train station is right near this hotel and they have lots of shops within the great station building. Most shops spoke good English and the taxis from airport around €30 to €35 about 15 mins we're friendly. Skyline shopping mall 15 mins walk. Airport large so give yourselves plenty of time for check ins.

Was given a room located on a floor where renovation work was being carried out (see photo) with tools lying around the cement flooring pathway), plus the room door couldn't even close properly.

The only uttered by the receptionist when I requested for room change was \"why?\", before she passed me key to another room.

The question which i couldn't figure out was why i was given the first room when other rooms were available.

Definitely i would avoid going to this hotel.

Perfect location right across from the central station. Public transportation to everywhere you might want to go. Elevator building. Very friendly staff. Be aware that in this price class the hotels in Germany don't have air conditioners, so the rooms get uncomfortably warm in summer. Also, you won't always get a hair dryer. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

I stayed here for one night before heading to a different part of Germany. This was my second time staying here. This hotel is conveniently located directly across from the main train station so it's very easy to get the hotel. The check in and check out process was very quick and easy. The people at the front desk were also very helpful with questions that I had about the city. I booked a room with a private bathroom. The room wasn't very large, however it was just right for the short stay. They also have a very good selection of food for their breakfast. This place is perfect for those on a budget looking for a quiet place to stay.

WiFi is free but you need to request a coupon from the front desk with a password for each device you want to connect. This is our default hotel for first or last nights in Frankfurt - it's 10 minutes train ride to airport and hotel is a 3 minute walk to the train station. This is a traditional European hotel, small by American standards. And it needs a bit of redecorating. But all the important basics work - hot water, pressure, drains, and it's clean. And usually the best value within 5 minutes of the train station.

I expected a no-frills room for the price, but the room was very very very small, as was the bed. Florescent lights and springs in the mattress added to the third-world feel. Not a hotel room to hang out in, but it served it's purpose.

Goos location and value for money, poor condition

The hotel is good in term of value for money and accessibility to the railway station, which was the reason I chose it. However, a single room is really tiny, with barely enough space to put a suitcase next to the bed. The bed was against the elevator wall, so every time the elevator was used the wall would shake.
The website was also unclear about the fact that it is a shared bathroom - the specification was \"partially open bathroom\", which gave the impression of an en-suite, but in fact it was just a sink in the room, while the toilet and shower were across the corridor and shared.
The room was clean but the common toilet and shower were less so.
I would choose the hotel only due to its proximity to the railway station, but there are others around to try.

The Hotel is near main staion and the location is very noisy. The noise was a bit annoying during our stay because our room was looking to the main street and windows were not enogh seeled.

Nice Simple Hotel right across from train station

The location was very good with access to everything. Staff was nice and helpful. Room was simple but had space to move beds together, etc. Bathroom was nice with bathtub/shower combo. Breakfast was very good.
The train station is a bit noisy if your room faces street.
Would stay there again next time I'm in town.

I stayed one night while traveling to the US from Strasbourg. The hotel is under five minutes on foot to the central train station, from which you can take the S-bahn to the airport. The room was small, but clean, and staff were professional. The price was excellent. Wifi seemed a little slow, but it wasn't a real problem. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

\"Minimalist\" is the best word I can use to describe this hotel - and this is coming from a guy who spent two weeks in Europe with a wife and two kids on just two carry-on-size backpacks. We requested a family room and got one with four twin-size beds. The furnishings were sparse. The towel rack in the bathroom was laying on the floor. The hotel felt like it was converted into a hotel from a warehouse or office building - it was not created as a hotel. The room key was on a large, plastic paddle - reminiscent of a key to the restroom at a seedy gas station - it was not convenient to put in your pocket, and that was the point. I've never been to a hotel where they ask you to hand in the key to the front desk when you leave the hotel. THere is no safe in the room, so telling strangers when my room is unoccupied and giving them the key to all my stuff is disconcerting.

On a positive note, I will say that the breakfast is good.

Convenient Access for Short Stay

Located just across the main Frankfurt train station (Hbf). Less than 20 minutes from Frankfurt airport via train. So it is very convenient for short trips. Hall ways are kind of dark, rooms are decently sized. Overall good value for money. Some rooms have their own bathrooms, while some are shared. Hotel feels safe. Room is decently updated. Bed was a little soft but overall okay.

A reasonable hotel across from the train station

Colour Hotel is across the street from the train station and is quite simplistic in design and furnishings - however it brings good value for the price. Hotel was overall clean, water was hot, wifi worked well. I stayed there on two separate occasions and would stay again. If your into the high street it's a bit of a walk but there's a tram.

The hotel was great. It has a great location next to the Hbf or Main Train Station. It never took me more than 25 mins to get to the airport, where I had a job interview. Great restaurants are about 15 mins walking and an Irish Pub, where you'll find a lot of English speakers, was about a 3-5 min walk depending on how drunk you get.

Great little hotel for a solo trip to Frankfurt!

Good little hotel if you are after an inexpensive stay in Frankfurt. The rooms are small but quite comfortable. I would recommend upgrading to the premium room. At least you get your own bathroom.

I could have asked for a change of room.

I was too tired walking around enjoying the sights of Frankfurt along Kaiserstrabe then finally settled to rest and sleep. I got up almost after every hour like it was an intermittent nap of every hour as I was keeping track of the time whenever I got up.

Everything was good except for the sounds/horns of the cars, buses and trains. The front of the hotel is the main train station. My room was on the side road.

Great location but mysterious bites!

So handy for the train station and seemed to be a nice, clean comfortable hotel for a really reasonable price. But I woke up in the morning covered in insect bites and while I've emailed the hotel to suggest they might want to look into it, so far the lack of response leaves me feeling they don't really care and so I really wouldn't reccomend it!

Last moment decision during fair period. I arrived at midnight. It took 15 min at least for the receptionist to find the Expedia reservation. Clean room but with German square pillows (standard practice unfortunately). Building in need of TLC. Station opposite has brand new food court, perfect for refuelling.

Convenient Location

I did not have en-suite facilities, but the bathroom was only few steps across the hall, so that was fine. The hotel is very close to the HBf which is very convenient, though there a re a lot of beggars in the streets around this area which might upset some people. There are a lot of restaurants too, but I tend to got to Sachenhausen, my favourite part of town.

For the Single Traveller, Long & Short Term

This is a nice, clean, safe and comfortable hotel. It is well situated for travel by rail. There is also good eating close by. Convenience stores are available and open late for supplies. The staff is friendly and courteous, with a fairly good command of English. The WiFi was a little spotty in the room but worked well in the Lobby. Because I visit for longer than usual periods, I appreciate being given a rear room so that the tram noise is not a concern. After a lengthy stay, the bed does become a little hard, but is otherwise quite comfortable. As a single traveler I find that the hotel comfortably meets my needs and I would recommend it to others in similar circumstances.

close to the main train station

very small rooms, not a single shelf or cabinet in the entire room, no AC, hot water supply is non existent in the morning hours around 7 to 8:30. WIFI spotty at best. Very expensive during the trade show. Paid over Euro 220 per night for a hotel that should cost Euro 50 at best. Made reservation through Travelocity. Hotel canceled my reservation without notifying me because my credit card expiration date was before my arrival date. Re-booked through Travelocity the next day which cost me an extra Euro 460 for two rooms. The hotel management was unwilling to honor the original price. First and last time staying at that hotel.

Cheap and close to everything

Cheap and close to the main train station. The neighborhood is not to much beautiful and looks like bot safe, but for the price is Ok. Room was really very small and the elevator was very close to my room and it sounds very old.

Very small spaces. And is showing signs of wear and tear. A bit expemsive for the size and comfort. It is right across the street from the main train station of Frankfort so you can get anywhere easily but I wouldn't suggest staying here for any long period of time and not if you you are traveling with someone... Especially if you want separate beds because I do not believe that they have any.

It kinda feels like a prison that has been redone by some college kids.

Central location!

Strategic location near all the major transport and dining establishment. Good size room and bathroom. Clean with basic amenities. One complaint is that the hallway on my floor was not lit on both nights that stayed there so it was difficult to find my room and to open the door. Plus, for a single female traveler arriving after midnight, it was a bit scary.

Great crash pad!

If you are looking for a cheap place to crash, as I was, then this is perfect for you. It's very basic with the room having only a bed, a desk and a sink. There are only 3 shared bathrooms (1 each on the odd numbered floors) and they are only the size of a ensuite bathroom in a normal hotel. Not a big deal when it wasn't that busy but could be annoying. I'm an early riser and it didn't bother me.
The location near Frankfurt's central station (Hauptbahnhof) is fantastic.
It is a little noisy with trams (streetcars) regularly making a turn out the front of the hotel but with the window closed it wasn't bad at all.
My only real criticism is that 16 euros for breakfast (optional) is way too expensive

Shared toilet+shower, but just 1 for 2 floors!

When I booked I saw that they said \"shared toilets and showers\", but, actually, they had just ONE room with a single toilet and a single shower for 1st, 2nd and (let's say) mid of 3rd floor, plus another in 5th floor... 2 showers for 5 floors!! That's not enough at all, I've been in cheaper hostels with those shared elements by far much better.

Have to ask for towels sometimes, to noisy with constante doors opening from other rooms, staff in reception not friendly most of the times with that expression in the faces that looks like everybody owns them and nobody pays!

We have stayed at the Colour Hotel many times over the last 7 or 8 years because it is a good value, in a great location, has a good breakfast, is clean and has good service. While it's still clean with good service, the hotel is starting to get \"rough around the edges\" - faucets that don't turn smoothly, window mechanisms that are noticeably not as tight as when new, lights that flicker - things like that. We would definitely stay again, but the management needs to do a walk-through and get some basic maintenance completed soon.

Disappointing

Although the hotel was convenient to the train station we were disappointed with the postage stamp size room. We reserved and paid for a superior double and I think we got a substandard tiny room. So small we could not even get our suitcase into the room comfortably.
