Nice hotel in an eclectic neighborhood. Directly across from Frankfurt main station. Mini bar refreshed daily with water, a soda and a beer. Hotel is older but the rooms are large.

It was a pleasant stay at Hotel Monopol. The staff was really cooperative and welcoming specially the persons on reception in morning and the one in evening were really nice and helpful. They made our stay memorable. Talking about ambiance it was good as well. In short we highly recommend this hotel to upcoming visitors.

From the initial welcome at the front desk to the grandeur of the building, it feels very special staying at the Hotel Monopol.
Breakfast was great and the close vicinity to Frankfurt HBf was great.
All staff we encountered were polite and welcoming.
This is the only hotel in Frankfurt we have chosen to stay in more than once!

Its an old hotel so has old world charm. It needs a coat of paint n bathroom need renovation most importantly they switch off heating at night 8ish n restart at 7 am . Happened all 3 nights . When I complained they said they didn’t switch off maybe something wrong with heater . This is the usual practice in all hotels i stayed in Germany in my 15 days trip

We ate breakfast one time here. $20 for a continental breakfast with scrambled eggs seem to be a bit much.
Let’s get into the hotel. The room all spacious had no drawers where we could put our clothes the closet had enough room for 10 shirts 10 pants but only had one hanger. The parking is free and just off property and typical to Europe down a steep incline and type parking spaces. If you’re a good driver, you’ll have no problems at all.
The hotel is very convenient to the bus station and a large train station 15 to 20 taxis outside the door at any given moment with taxi drivers that don’t mind yelling and screaming at each other at 2 o’clock in the morning but that said the room rate was very good. Our stay was two weeks long and we give this hotel 3 1/2 to 4 stars.

Check in as expected and arrived early and the room was ready. It had a working elevator. The mini buyer was free and contained two bottles of water, a bottle of beer and a Pepsi. The TV was not plugged in and the remote control did not work. It has a bathtub, but the Spicket does not allow to fill the bathtub relying on the showerhead. I would not rate this as a four-star hotel but it is extremely convenient being across from the train station in the area was safe. Overall, I was satisfied with the room and the cost.

Staff at front desk man was helpful and friendly, but room wasn’t clean all of wall lights were dusty. Basin was leaking, shower drain was not draining quick enough. Kettle was not clean, my wife was beaten by insects. They said minibar is free but only water was give and other drink give once. Cola and beer was one bottle for two persons.

What a lovely hotel I was a bit unsure at first as near the station but the area was fine and I was out till 11pm with no issues.
The hotel is just lovely the receptionist was polite helpful and friendly the hotel is spotless and the room a lovely big size and toasty and warm with widows that actually open.
Nice selection in the mini bar and the bathroom clean with a great powerful shower

Our room was nothing like the pictures and incredibly worn down. The bed squeaked with every shift in sleeping position and was quite hard. All of the furniture in the room looked old and beat up. The chairs in the room were old conference room banquet chairs with questionable stains. The bathroom was a good size and was decently clean expect for a layer of dust on ledges and in corners. We chose to skip the breakfast since we figured if the hotel cannot keep up with maintenance and basic updates, then they might not be up to date on their food safety. The hotel’s proximity to the train station was nice but the few blocks around the hotel didn’t feel the safest to walk through at night.

The room was nothing like the pictures or any where compatible to the price that was charged.

Hopes in the wall, cheap furniture. Small blankets dirty towel rack, no hot water with pressure and the take the cake you can hear other people using the bathroom. Left after one day of a four night booking.

This hotel is charming, full of history, and beautifully preserved. It has an old-world feel that makes it unique compared to modern stays. While there’s no air conditioning—which can make it a bit warm at times—the overall atmosphere makes up for it. The staff are exceptionally kind and helpful, always going out of their way to make guests feel welcome.

Guests will also appreciate the free minibar and reliable Wi-Fi, which add extra comfort to the stay. The rooms can feel a bit dusty, but not in a way that makes them unclean—more like the inevitable character of an older, historic building.

The breakfast buffet offers a good selection of food, making mornings easy and enjoyable.

The location is very convenient, especially if you plan to use the train for travel. That said, being close to the station and just a few streets from the red-light district means you may encounter some drug use and prostitution in the area. It’s something to be aware of, but inside the hotel itself you’ll find a safe and welcoming environment.

The Hotel Monopol is a lovely hotel, close to Frankfurt Hbf. The area around the hotel was a little rundown with some homelessness but not unsafe. The hotel was incredibly hot. I understand the efficiency of not requiring a/c but being there when it is hot, humid and 40+ degrees, the room was miserably hot.

Pros: great location, very close to the train station and many restaurants! They had a bunch of free pastries and coffee in the lobby, which is great for Europe standards.
Cons : The kettle in our room was not clean. They could not clearly understand that we wanted still water and gave us sparkling water instead.

Don't recommend. Right across from train station, so convenient in that respect but otherwise the area isn't very nice. Incredibly hot - almost unbearably. Don't stay in summer if you want to be comfortable. Not very clean - significant layers of dust on things. Shower was awkward - almost impossible not to get water everywhere unless you lean right into the wall.

Lovely check-in. Nice staff, you can have hot and cold drinks, fruit and cakes in reception. Helpful and friendly staff. Room big, just needs a thorough clean as dusty and shelves in bathroom dirty in places. Hotel a bit tired but overall good. Very good location straight opposite train station. Area around station not so good, red light district, lots of crime and drug taking. I don’t go out at night. Breakfast nice. WiFi good.

Hotel Monopol is a beautiful hotel with lots of character. It's location is very convenient with how close it is to the main train station, but that also means there is train noise. The immediate area is a bit dingy as well. Our room was beautiful and spacious, with a nice bathroom and fans to keep it cool. It was generally clean, except for a few key spots that were missed. The breakfast was generous and tasty. Our only complaint is that the beds are not comfortable.

La habitación esta muy bien, amplia, silenciosa, solo que yo camino descalza y me parece que no barrian o aspiraban mucho la habitacion.
Para el que no esta acostumbrado a viajar, y parar cerca de las estaciones, la zona es un poco fea. Para mi que voy y vengo en tren a otros sitios, es comoda. Solo que a la noche no se si es viable salir.

Although it's right across the street from the train station, the hotel is very quiet in the back wing. The rooms are minimal but perfectly sufficient. The staff was super nice, and the breakfast buffet a bargain. For an early train there's no better place. I stayed several nights and am very pleased with the stay.

The photo online shows the room being very nice, I paid $500.00 a night, and the room was very small, the bathroom was small, and the shower was small and water would go everywhere in the bathroom, where the toilet is and sink.

What a Great Stay!

What a great hotel to stay at. My husband and I came to Frankfurt for 2 nights and I came across this hotel to book. We received a welcome drink upon check in. We had a big room with a king bed and a free mini bar in the fridge that was stocked daily. Coffee was in the reception area in the morning. It’s a beautiful older hotel with large and clean rooms! The staff were super friendly and gave advice on where to eat. The location is perfect with just across the street from Central Station. Thank-you for the wonderful stay!

A comfortable enough place to sleep right across from the main train station, if that’s all you need. Rooms were dusty, well worn, shower was falling apart and bed was not the most comfortable. The hotel is in a very dodgy area so walking around other than to and from the station - especially as a solo female traveller, is not a smart idea. Was fine for just the night for an early train the next day but otherwise I wouldn’t stay here again.

I try to rate properties on their own values and not as a comparison to others. Try to get a room on the second floor with a street view so you can look out the window and see the hotel sign. Only done this one other time at the Chelsea in New York!

The location is amazing. It’s literally across the street from the main train station. I only stayed one night prior to going to airport so convenient. Easy to find your way back from anywhere because most trains, subway and buses go to the main station. The lobby was very fancy looking. Working elevator. Super cute room, clean free mini fridge with drinks. Having attend in multiple hotels over 2 weeks it was definitely my favorite. After reading reviews about area not being safe because of drugs gangs I did not walk from hotel to things I wanted to see but took quick transportation away from station and felt safe. Also was never concerned about crossing the street to the hotel from station. Would stay there again

It’s right outside of the main station which is handy but it’s also noisy. Once inside, the hotel is lovely. Though they say international TV none of the English stations listed worked and neither did captions. Taxis park out front which is very nice. There’s many restaurants in walking distance.

This is a good and very convenient hotel next to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof; I just used it the second time, and intend to continue using it whenever I have to travel to Frankfurt. It is not a chain hotel, it has a bit old-fashioned style, which I like. If there is one thing to object to, it is the city of Frankfurt, especially the area around the railway station; I feel in the last ten years drug use and prostitution have increased there worse than anywhere else in Germany. But the immediate area of the hotel is ok.

Expedia should not even offer this property on their site. This is one of the worst properties I’ve ever booked. We did not stay after seeing our room and were willing to lose our money - it was that terrible. Smelled of cigarette smoke all throughout, lack of maintenance throughout, dirty bathroom, torn curtains, and large contingency of homeless people on the corner. I wish I could attach photos.

Staff is super friendly, from front desk to associates at breakfast. All associates were super nice. Property on the other hand is very old and looks unsafe. Area has a lot of drug use and homeless. Might be because it’s right by the train station. Rooms are old and dated, beds feel like cots including very cheap pillows. But the staff themselves are increadible! Very nice and accommodating. Place should have guards in front though because it’s in a very dirty and unsafe area.
