12 noon check out, good hotel. 11 am or earlier check out, with a harassing call from reception when a little late, not so good hotel. I booked the Bedford as it seemed 30 pounds less expensive than similar ones. Then I found out: No room air conditioning in a heatwave. Hotel has a pleasant Victorian feeling & it was clever of them to portray cheapskating on renovatìons & climate control as being Eco.

Bathroom was not cleaned very well. It put a damper on the entire experience. The service was really slow and did not feel accommodating. I will not recommend this hotel for more than just one night.

We had a poor experience at the Bedford. Having paid extra for a Garden double, we were dismayed to find it had a lift shaft four feet from our bed behind a thin stud wall. We were wakened at 4am each day by the lift and the light through the threadbare curtains. On the third day we went for a sleep in the afternoon but the lift was in constant use. They did then move us to a twin room in a quieter location. This room was better but had a toilet in a separate room to the shower with no handbasin. Not hygienic.

We won't be back.

We were in a room that had been renovated, so did not have many outlets. I was able to get an extension cord to use at the bedside. There was room for a small chair in addition to the one near the vanity, but no chair, nor was there a second luggage rack. With twin beds, there are usually two people, so someone had to find an alternative for the suitcase and sit on a bed.
The room faced the street, which was very noisy. There was a small fan to move air, but to be comfortable, the window needed to be open.
Thus, the room experience was not inviting. Even a less bland wall color and perhaps some framed art, would have made things look more appealing.

This hotel is nicely located, near Russell Square, the British Museum and underground stations. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
My room was small, which was fine, but there is no air conditioning in the rooms. During my 4 night stay, the temperature in London was in the 90’s, which made it a little difficult sleep.
I would recommend this hotel and the price was right. But I would like to stay there when the weather is cooler.

I LOVED my stay at the Bedford Hotel! My room faced Southampton Row giving me a great view of the street yet being on the fifth floor I was above the actual street energy and able to take it in from my windows. The front desk staff was SO KIND and HELPFUL! And my room was GREAT!

A budget-friendly hotel close to lots of transit options (several bus routes, plus walking distance to Russel Square and Holborn stations). Absolutely ideal for solo travellers! Walking distance to a number of neighbourhood pubs, and a variety of other restaurants, ranging from global fast food chains, to upscale “night out” sorts of places. The neighbourhood is tourist friendly, quiet by central London standards (don’t expect silence anywhere in a city with 10 million people). Whenever I’m in London I make a point of spending a few nights here.

The staff were fantastic and the decor was beautiful. The building was older and our room smelled of dog urine. Toilet was in a separate room from the sink which was with the shower. Shower was very narrow leading to accidentally opening curtain while turning around and getting the floor wet. Additionally, there was a mix up between placing the reservation and arrival which removed the breakfast option from our reservation. There are several coffee shops nearby but if you are there during the weekend most places don’t open early. We did have dinner in the restaurant one evening and everything was delicious. There is also no refrigerator or microwave in the room, which may be common in London. Most restaurants near the hotel serve large portions and I was sad to waste so much food. The location was perfect for the places we wanted to go.

this hotel is incredibly convenient to so many things - british museum, restaurants, bus stops, bus tours & the metro. i felt safe walking to any of these things.

i had a tiny room but i didn't spend much time in it. london was colder than usual so the master heat had been turned off, however they had a portable heater that was brought to my room.

toiletries & hair dryer were present in the room & the cleaning staff asked if you needed anything when they saw you in the hall.

there is a lovely bar & restaurant although i didn't have any food. it has limited hours which didn't coincide with my time. however the bar is open of which i did partake.

the most impressive thing about this hotel is a front desk person named siobhan. she was perfect for a first impression. when you walked to the desk she stopped conversing with her colleagues (unlike some others) and gave you her full attention. she was full of good information about stores, restaurants & the local area. if i was a hotel manager i would want her at my front desk. she was absolutely lovely!

Second time staying here. This time in a garden view single. It was actually a bit louder on the garden view side as I could hear a rumbling sound on and off. Maybe the tube? I got used to it fine. If I stay again I will ask for a room facing the Main Street and on the 6th floor again. Staff and lovely. Rooms are clean. The safe is so helpful. Breakfast buffet is great with lots of selection. Staff in the restaurant are very professional and make you feel welcome. Love the location and felt very safe as a solo female traveler.

So impressed with this hotel! Location was excellent steps from the British Museum, tube stations, a lovely park, and dining options. I was in a single room and the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and very quiet at night. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I felt so welcome. The breakfast was way more than I expected and the breakfast area is charming with a lovely view over a garden courtyard. No suggested improvements!

Clean and tidy but 60's size small rooms and old fixtures.
No room air conditioning so you need to keep the windows open to keep the temperature down.

We had a Garden view room and it is fairly noisy with music, outdoor conversations, and a constant sound of running water 24/7 from the two fountains below.

Rooms x33 and x01 are next to the elevators. They are noisy with alot of clanking until after midnight.

No bathroom fan so again open windows.
Strange toilet flush but eventually works.

Breakfast buffet is good with a full English breakfast.

Service is lacking.

Will opt for a more modern location next time.

I loved everything about the property, including my room. Staff were very attentive and polite.
I had the breakfast option, but personally found it too bright and loud so I didn’t stay long for breakfast. I travelled solo, so I felt like a stuck out amongst the other guests.
Otherwise, I would absolutely stay again!
Will be recommending to others!

Overall the hotel was great. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and it’s in a fantastic location. However, there are few things to be aware of. If your room faces the main road, it will be very loud and bright until at least midnight (later on weekends). The blackout curtains do a great job at blocking the light from the street, but this causes the room to become stuffy very quickly since the windows are the only form of ventilation. It was not a surprise to me that there was no air conditioning in our room so my expectations were set, but it was a major issue for my travel partner. Additionally, the only water refill station is in the lobby and no carafe is provided in the room. Because of this, it was much more convenient to buy a pack of water bottles for the room which unfortunately created more waste. And lastly, I found it odd that our beds were on wheels. This may not be the case for all rooms, but if you stay here and have a bed on wheels - be prepared to stub your toe multiple times daily. It definitely isn’t a deal breaker, but was incredibly annoying. Despite the things mentioned above, I would 100% consider staying at the Bedford Hotel again and would recommend it to anyone I know traveling to London.

Great hotel in central London near multiple train and underground stations. Several early morning breakfast places nearby such as Pret and Costa. British Museum is 10 min walk. The spring was an ideal time to visit as temps are cool all day. Note if you come in summer there is no central air.

Comfortable hotel in a great location. Rooms on the garden side of the hotel are quiet despite being on a relatively busy street. Easy to walk to from both the Tottenham Court Station (Elizabeth Line) and the Russell Square Station (Piccadilly Line) so easy to get to from Heathrow.

The breakfast selection was satisfactory. Many of the cooked foods were luke warm. Nothing could be kept hot.

The staff were unaware that I had paid for my breakfast in advance with booking. I had to pay again and ask for a refund. They were unwilling to give an instant refund. Until management was called in to resolve their booking system failure.

Hotel staff were not particularly helpful or pleasant.

My wife and I absolutely love this hotel. The room was perfect. Clean and everything we needed was there. We faced the garden and it was peaceful. You couldn’t hear the busy city around you. The only thing we heard were birds and the ambulances that would go by. This hotel is within walking to everything we needed. I can’t sing their praises enough! Perfect way to start our British vacation :)

The restaurant has a beautiful view, coffee is great, you'll find fruit and everything that you need for your own version of an English breakfast.

The room was ready when we arrived and the front desk employee made some suggestions for sightseeing. The hotel is conveniently located near Russell Square station and has a few bus stops nearby making it easy to reach all the popular spots in London. The British museum was in walking distance. It was great for what we needed while in London.

This was a good hotel in a good location in London, for a very reasonable price. The room was big on amenities, and we didn't realize there was no air conditioner there, but then again we really didn't need it in March. The staff was very helpful. The room was a little smaller than what we thought we were getting viewing the photos online, but for the price we didn't mind. I would recommend this hotel as long as you are trying to \"keep it simple\" with size vs a good location & price.

The room was very nice. Ours looked out over a lovely courtyard (which was especially good because the street itself I did not love. Very busy with fast food and souvenir shops). Separate toilet and shower, which is great. The bar downstairs was outrageously loud both (week)nights we were there. Like college-bar-loud. But the room was quiet. The location is very close to the British Museum and Underground stations. Not very impressed with the breakfast, but not terrible (and not included).

Very good for solo travelers, I’d say. The walls are very thin, incredibly thin, but again, if you’re traveling solo, I don’t think this is a huge issue. The staff was lovely, so was the view. I wish the bathroom was ventilated, or a tad roomier, because I had an incident with the steam from my shower setting off the fire alarm. A member of the staff had to come into my room to check that everything was okay while I was wrapped in only a towel, soaking wet. Embarrassing, but understandable. It’s just something to keep in mind, I suppose! Good overall.
