Excellent stay! Central location, can easily get to the grand place and other points of interest by walking or bus. The hotel and rooms were clean, safe, quiet and allowed for a very comfortable stay. The only recommendation is to have an AC unit attached to the wall instead of the portable one where we had to connect the exhaust pipe out the window. Other than that, no other issues, staff were nice and friendly. Highly recommend.

Great small hotel to stay.

We had a great stay! It was super close to the Metro and walking distance to the Grand Place square and lots of shops and restaurants. The breakfast service (for a small fee) was of high standard. Staff were very courteous and accommodating. Was pleased with our stay.

The room they gave us is not in the hotel and it is in a creepy basement across the street that reeks of raw sewage. There is no natural light and the furniture and mattress are terrible quality. I can hear all the upstairs tenants when they walk or use their toilet. Staying at Hotel du Congres was a terrible experience.

I never tend to leave bad reviews. But here it goes. I've never encounter a place that had bed bugs before (and I had stayed in really badly reviewed places).
I have bite marks all over my arms, face and legs!

I'm badly surprised, as the price is not cheap!

Please do something with your overall cleaningness.

This is a generic, little, clean hotel that will do the work for a couple of nights. The staff was kind and efficient. Our room was tiny but clean and had an AC portable unit that saved the stay, because it was very hot the weekend we stay and the room is so small that it was getting stuffy very easily. I would recommend this little hotel for a quick visit to Brussels, it is a 15 min walking distance to the main plaza.

It was ok in general.
The only thing which I found totally inconvenient was that in order to iron some clothes, I had to cross a busy road while it was almost raining, enter the main building of the hotel (they have rooms in 2 separate buildings) and go to the 3rd floor to find the ironing room which had only one ironing board and one iron for every resident of the hotel who wishes to iron his/her clothes.
It appears that there was not any information on the website (when I made the booking) to explain/describe the above situation.

Lovely period property is a good location. The staff very pleasant and helpful. Our room looked as if it had been recently refurbished and had very nice bedding and towels.
We had a triple occupancy room which was in the garden area. It was on the first floor with a steep spiral stairway leading to our room.This staircase wasn’t easy to clime and this should be mentioned to guests before they book as older or disabled people would find it very difficult to climb.
Apart from this one point I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.

nice location, clean room but super noisy

the afternoon check in staff, I met with two are good, the one at night was a bit, I don't know, I guess the word is \"chilling\", gave me a I don't care attitude but did the job eventually when i asked for a hairdryer.

there was a group downstairs of my room, they were doing an early check out i suppose and I don't know why it took them 1.5 hours to leave the hotel, they were just chatting at the stair and in the corridor, and stood there from 7 to 8:30 which was a nightmare.

the room was small and the bathroom was also tiny, clean though.

the location was excellent but because of the noise level, I wouldn't recommend anyone staying there

Quiet location not too far from the Grand Place and central station. It is uphill to get to the hotel from the station but as we did not have a lot of luggage this was not an issue. Friendly staff on reception who allowed us to check in early. We had a room upstairs in a separate block on the other side of the courtyard. It was very spacious and had a modern bathroom. There was a coffee machine in the room but unfortunately we couldn't get it to work. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on the food. The room was very quiet and we heard no noise from the surrounding area. Would stay there again if the price was right. Wifi worked well.

Solid hotel, only complaint was the heat and lack of fans or air conditioning. Also, the shower was a bit weird as the partition barely covered any of the bathtub so the shower water went everywhere. Other than that, it was a lovely hotel.

We requested a non-smoking room and we were given a ground floor room on the courtyard with patio furniture situated next to our window where guests continually gathered and smoked cigarettes into all hours of the night. The hotel doesn’t have air conditioning, therefore opening the window was the only way to get air in our room. The room was absolutely stifling. When asked to speak with guests smoking at midnight and making noise the front desk staff were bothered by the request and took their time to respond. We stayed for three nights and this problem was never resolved, we were never offered a different room, and upon check out we were not even asked about our stay.

At first look the place is nice. Then after a closer look it was nasty. The drain had hair ( not mine, I had not showered yet) and dirt. Around the ceiling and walls, what looked like black spots were actually bugs that had been smashed. The hose on the shower was leaking and since there was al NO SHOWER CURTAIN it made a huge mess all over the floor. Very poor experience. Would not recommend or return, I would actually very much want my money back. I have pictures of the place too.

I don’t recommend to women! Scam alert!

The man at the desk swindled my friend and I out of 20 euro at night when our key was misplaced. We paid for the room but he insisted on acting like enterance to it was difficult. After pretending for 10 minutes that we were a burden he demanded 20 euro in cash for his trouble in retrieving a key. Not in other payment, just cash so he could pocket it. What disgusting behavior! I would never recommend the place! He also complained about his job to us upon our arrival.

Comfortable room, but noisy..thin doors & walls

I did not sleep well both nights I stayed at this hotel (even with earplugs.. I am not a light sleeper and frequently travel). The bed was positioned right next to the door. I woke up several times to the loud water pipes everytime a neighbor used the restroom or showered, doors slamming from the hallway and the base of the stairwell (strange layout), I could hear the echos of people stomping up and down the stairs, and every time the rickety elevator doors opened and closed. The hotel is in a good quiet location about 15min walk to Brussels station, next to an awesome local cafe. The room was a good size and it had a great view of their courtyard garden. To be fair, the rooms were warm and comfortable, but I’d will not be returning and would not recommend this hotel to my traveling friends or family.

I've never left a negative review of any hotel that I've stayed in, as this does not come naturally I will start with the positives. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and modern decor. Lovely! The man on reception was so friendly and welcoming. Great stuff! Location wise it is perfect only a quick walk from the station and a 5 min stroll into town. Very easy to wander into town for a tour then nip back to the hotel to get changed before heading back for the evening. Now, the not so great side..I read loads of great reviews about this hotel before we came so I'm hoping that it was just our room that was the problem and not a reflection of the hotel as a whole...it was just so loud! We stayed in room 105 on the ground floor facing onto the street. The noise from outside was quite annoying from sirens to drunks to the ATM machine across the street, but that was understandable as the room was so close to the road. However, this combined with the noise within the hotel was the problem. There was a very, er, let's say amorous couple in the room next to us-we are a young couple ourselves and you expect this kind of thing when staying in a hotel but seriously, I'm pretty sure their bed was parallel to ours and we may as well have been in there with them. The walls are paper thin! We are not at all prudish and it was funny to start with but then became a bit cringey. Also, wooden floors in the corridor meant that you heard every person enter and leave. Great hotel just not room 105!

Perfectly located between City & European Quarter

Friendly, efficient, and still individual. What makes the Hôtel du Congrès stand out is the slight quirkiness that results from the rooms being built around the structure of three Brussels townhouses, so some have lovely bathrooms that go upstairs, but all en suite, others look out on the glorious interior courtyard, whilst others still are the old staterooms of this splendid building. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, conferencing facilities, and helpful, constructive staff. The breakfasts are good, the rooms spotlessly clean, and all are spacious and well (but not luxuriously) appointed. This is reflected in the extremely competitive prices, which follow availability, but are always better than the chains.

Hotel was pretty easy to find, only 15 mins from the central station. Staff were helpful, and I was able to check in early. Room was small (an actual single, with a single bed), and the bathroom was split into basin/shower and toilet. There was no way to sit and watch TV, only lie on bed. Still, it was clean, comfortable and quiet.

5 of us shared a room including my baby daughter. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, having provided us with a baby cot and a fan to combat the heat at that time. The bathroom was clean and spacious with a lovely bath-shower combo. The beds were comfy and the wifi connection was good. The location of the hotel was nice; a pretty area, with only a 3 minute walk to grab a metro or bus. We all really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was perfect. Both because it was all I needed from a hotel, and because it was the perfect mirror of Brussels. One part old Victorian, one part modern art exhibit, and one part university office building. All sorts of styles thrown together haphazardly, just like the city. Breakfast was good, in the upper half of typical hotel breakfasts. (But still Belgian, so no vegetables in sight. What's a guy gotta do for a tomato in this country?)

Booked a triple room at GBP 117 for 2 nights. The room is much more spacious than in the photo.No air conditioning in the room and it was a hot day, we had the windows opened all night. The bathroom and toilet are separated.
The lobby and hall way was messy when we arrived, but our room was clean. They would leave your luggage at a corner in the lobby if you arrive before check in time. The evening shift receptionist (Kase?) is very friendly. Around 10-15 minutes walk to brussels central train station. Overall, value for money. Would only recommend if the price is lower or stay the same.

Nice hotel but zero amenities

The hotel looks stunning from the outside, however there are zero amenities in the room so you cannot even have a drink. In addition to this, there is no bar or coffee station, just a selection of beers and espressos from reception.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Du Congres. We booked last minute due to a change in plans, and they were so accommodating. It was a quick and easy check-in process, which was needed considering we got there so late in the evening. Our room was spacious, cozy, and provided everything we needed. As for the location, it took us about 10-15 minutes to walk to the center of the city- not bad. After checking out at 11 am the last morning, they allowed us to keep our bags there for several hours while we went to do some last minute sight-seeing. We were so grateful for that service. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely consider booking there again in the future.

Stayed over New Years 2016. Very nice staff, nice hotel and very clean. The location is great if you don't mind walking everywhere. We were 15 minutes walk from the centre and Saint Catherine where all the restaurants are. Only downside is there isn't a safe in the hotel room.

This was a very good stay. It was a family trip and we got a quadruple room. It was very warm, but we had a nice window we could open during the day. We took the breakfast which was a very good buffet. The staff was very helpful and the hotel is a close walk to the city center. Only problem was the tub which had no shower stand so it was a bit difficult and a big mess was left after each shower. Otherwise, lovely hotel and a great stay.

The hotel and lobby was very nice but they also had rooms across the street in a separate building. The carpets were dirty and rooms were not very cozy. In addition when we tried to plug a phone charger into the wall the power in the whole building went out. The staff did not seem very concerned when we told them. However, it was reasonably priced and clean so I am satisfied. I don't think I would stay there again however.

Not recommended, for many reasons

I booked for one night on a business trip because it was very close to the office I was visiting at Madou. When I checked in I was told there was \"a problem\" with my room. Although I had booked an en-suite room, none was available so the only option was a room with its own bathroom across the corridor. I felt I had to accept this. The room was on the 4th floor, in the roof space. Although the outside temperature was about 20, the room was very hot. I had to have the roof window open, which meant it was noisy all night and even with the window open it was still too hot. No air con. I slept very badly. In the morning I discovered that half the water in the shower came out of the shower head and half through a hole in the pipe. Oh, and the room TV had no signal. I mentioned the problems when I checked out and was given breakfast for free (about 7 euros) but that was scant compensation for my poor night's sleep, the inconvenience of not having an en-suite bathroom (when I had paid for one) and the poor shower. At breakfast the selection of food was adequate, but if you wanted egg of any sort you had to cook it yourself. First time I have seen this \"feature\" (or lack thereof). Neither I nor my colleague trusted the lift, which made clunking noises the one time we used it. the staircase was a very strange affair, going in and out of many doors with precarious steps.
I would not return to this hotel.

The locations was easy to find & access. Additionally, it was close to two train stations as well as both the center of Brussels & the European quarter of Brussels. The staff were friendly. I encounter no problems whatsoever. Lastly, the bathroom had pre-built adaptors for UK & US plugs. The view was okay from my room: nothing special to see per se, but I found it relaxing.

Good location, reasonable price

This hotel was nice and clean, the bed was comfy and overall the price was fair. The only thing that I was surprised it didn't have was tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

Conviently located, good service, but stinky

Hotel was comfortable and the service was good. Location was good, trams to and from the city center are everywhere. Over all an \"okay\" hotel to stay in if you're not concerned about being \"wowed\". Only problem was that the rug smelled like feet and we found a huge spider on the roof!!

Worse hotel ever

Luckily we only stayed one night. We received a room that looked nothing like the rooms they show on the hotel's website. Bathroom was clean though. Asked for a replacement, but the receptionist couldn't care less. I would stay away from this hotel.

Lovely nice hotel in good price

me and my wife stayed for 2 nights, a lovely nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. very close to most of the famous attractions, besides atomium and mini europe. But metro is literally on walking distance so take the metro to get there :)
