The room was very tired, broken kitchen drawers, there was mould on the ceiling of 2nd bedroom. Pillows to flat and requested a couple more but was told there were 2 pillows per bed & 4 for the double bed. So we had to buy an extra couple ourselves. Probably won’t stay there again.

The manager had attitude, room was ok but just barely air conditioners only worked half the time. It seemed dirty so probably was. Pool’s was filthy.

We stayed for 3 days, the 2 bedroom apartment had everything that we needed. The rule book was a bit daunting eg: sugar satchel 10 cents, everything had a price. We did have to wash all cutlery and glasses before we used them as they were dirty. BBQ in pool area was filthy. We did have a very relaxing time and the walk to shops and restaurants is not very far.

At first we thought the AC was just kickstarting. But coming back to a unit that's hot on a hot and humid day is not pleasing at all. We then noticed the AC was not cooling as expected, we left it to cool the room but came back to a hot room again (we were drenching and fanning profusely) as the aircon turned off by itself. Tried to cool the room again at 18c but nope, the aircon was not cooling at all even at the bedrooms. Whenever we come bavk there was a pool of water just under the lounge AC. We couldn't complain at time as we were busy out and about and it's late whenever we come back to the apartment. Sensored AC is not ideal specially on hot humid days. Management should consider your paying tenants not just them being able to save.

Our stay was ok… we booked it with the intent of it being just a place to sleep & shower and would spend very little time here. It was clean I’ll give them that and the bathroom was relatively new. Our balcony had a nice view over the back garden.
We booked & paid for a portacot which on arrival was told they had none left so our 2 month old had to sleep in her pram which was not ideal. Our aircon in the main room stopped working on day 2/4. Didn’t bother asking for maintenance as it’s time consuming & didn’t want someone in our room.
I did think booking this place it would be closer to everything (or anything) beware it’s a big walk!!
Next time I’d book near the esplanade now having visited.
All in all it was OK.

Beautiful location, can hear waves at night, close

We enjoed staying there.
Spaceous and well placed apartment, very close to the beach.Also had everything we needed.
The only thing that wasn't in excellent condition was the bathroom as looked old.
The apartment was clean and had good receptionist, very helpful.

Our holiday in NQ

Tradewinds McLeod holiday apartments in Cairns is a very good and convenient venue for holiday makers. I am happy to recommend this to anybody who is planning to travel to NQ. Nice rooms and a living room, neat and clean kitchen and bathroom, beautiful pool, safe on-site parking - with everything I am looking for. My family will be here again during our next visit to NQ.

Ok but try somewhere else next time.

The room was a good size and nice and clean. The Beds were hard and uncomfortable. The Manager was not very pleasant and seemed cut our for some other line of work. Wasn't horrible but wasn't very pleasant either.

Here are a few tips you should know before you book at the tradewinds:

1 - wireless wifi is only for 1 devise and is not included in your stay.

2- They charge for extra toilet paper (you get 1 roll)!!!

3 - They charge for sugar/coffee/small milk/tea bags and may other things.

4 - They nickel and dime you for basic ammonites that are typically included daily at a hotel.

5 - The location is a further walk from the lagoon then lead to believe. (30 min brisk walk)

Bed was too soft and kept moving from the wall, swimming pool was lovely but needs more lounges (only 4). BBQ was difficult to work out if on or not. Staff was a little aloof and not that welcoming

Quite far from town, not really close to anything interesting. The place is getting a bit run down and could do with a face lift. Staff are a bit arrogant and just not the best place in Cairns to stay, even tho its rather cheap... I wouldnt stay there again.

Too much effort when your on holidays

Initially we were told the room would be left unlocked as we were going to be a late check in (only 8pm) and that we would have to wait until the morning to pickup keys. This was frustrating as we were planning on going out for food and drinks once arriving in Cairns. In the end the manager happened to still be there so we were able to get keys that night.
They also don't seem happy about people booking through a 'third party' as the manager kept saying (such as Hotels).
Probably won't book there again as it's just too much effort having to deal with the manager when it shouldn't be!

Great Family Apartment

Everything was as you would expect at the apartments. The place is well looked after, good facilities, our kids loved the pool. The apartments are nice and quiet so we were not kept awake all night. it was a little further out of town than we expected, prob a 15 - 20 min walk / $10 cab - but for the price this place was great. Muddies park is maybe a 5min walk away on the esplanade for the kids. Would certainly stay again if we were in Cairns

Unfortunately air conditioning was not working and it took reception staff to acknowledge there was a problem before moving us to another room. Also there were charges for everything including fresh towels, tea coffee etc which seemed unnecessary. All that said we did enjoy the pool.

An adequate apartment, great value

This place epitomizes the word average. There is nothing great about this place nor is there anything horrible. Our floor was very dirty. It wasn't visibile dirt or anything obnoxious but after walking around for half an hour, the bottom of my foot was black. Also had a few cigarettes in the cushions of our couch and neither of us smoke so I question how well things are cleaned. Location is fine. It's a 15 minute walk to a decent grocery store or you can go to the terribly overpriced convenience store a few minutes away. Pool was nice to swim in and check-in/check-out was pretty easy. I will probably never visit Cairns again because we live so far away but if we do come back, we probably wouldn't stay here again. It wasn't a bad stay but it wasn't great either. Like I said, very average.

limited front desk hours

We just wanted a place to sleep that was clean so the room was what we expected based on ratings we reviewed before we booked. However, the front desk has VERY limited hours so checking in was awkward as the office was closed at 6:30 pm (had to track down the manager) and getting other information through them was virtually impossible if you want to get up and going on any tours in the area.

Good 2 bed apartment, with separate living area. No problems with the accommodation at all. The front desk was often unmanned, while the staff serviced the apartments. There was a 25 minute walk to the centre. Overall pleased with our stay

Good value for money but not luxury

I stayed here with my 3 children aged 23, 20 and 16. It was adequate for our needs as everything was covered but this is not the place for you if you need easy access to the centre of Cairns or any kind of luxury. The owner/manager was helpful especially when it came to booking trips. There was a shop near by too for immediate needs. It was a good 20 to 30 minutes walk to the main leisure area of Cairns and just less to the large supermarket. We had a balcony room overlooking the pool. The place was quiet and clean. There was a full size cooker as well as a microwave and a dishwasher. The washing machine and tumble dryer helped too. There was a range of cooking implements and at least 4 of everything e.g bowls/plates. These did not necessarily match. There were additional charges if anything was damaged. Apparently we tore a towel - not sure how - and were charged £11 for a replacement.

Pictures flatter the rooms. For a self contained apartment, the kitchen was a let down. Everything was old and in need of replacement, crockery was a mish mash of parts. Hotel was a fair way away from everything so a car or cab is required.

The staff greeted us when we arrived, after having to phone them to the counter. The beds - 2 singles were on rollers on a tile floor and would not stay in one place had to ruin a pair of shoes to stop the sliding, same with the double bed. Very poor.
The lounge 2 x 2 seaters were uncomfortable and did not inspire to be used therefore a relaxing end of day was not had coupled with lack of sleep from the beds.
The brochures in the office were 2008 which we didnt see when we started to book trips, so what we thought would cost us 160.00 ended up being 200.00 and so on. The internet can only be used between 9.00 - 5.00 that is if the staff are in the office, most often not. The staff were pleasant enough, but the experience could have been better.
