Largely residential apartment block. The room I was given was in very poor condition and not very clean. No flyscreens on the sliding doors or windows so the a/c has to be on to get any air. Poor communication from management/reception about pretty much everything. Note for future customers - don’t return your keys to reception before you get your car out of the car park. Particularly if it is out of hours. I had to wake up a resident to help me get back down to my car.

Good apartment for a large family

Good apartment for large family. The rooms were pretty good and clean. The swimming pool was clean and well maintained. Overall a very good experience staying here. The reception staff also gives discount coupons for cairns attractions like thec rocodile tour etc so make sure to ask for that.

One small shortcoming was not having the flexibility to extend the checkout. We requested for checkout to be moved by just one hour but received a stern no and they wanted us to vacate at 10 AM sharp. Keeping that aside it was worth the money.

The room was very nice but that's where the good part ends. The reception people are very hard to contact. We had to sit in the car in the rain for 1 hour before we could check in...why do they need a 2 hour lunch? They don't keep the posted hours so we were unable to get pool towels or even enter the pool area...had to wash our bath towels ourselves. Parking was very tight- we were given the wrong spot for our whole stay. I'd recommend somewhere else

Unit was small but clean and tidy. Specifically rang after making booking to advise required twin beds and advised no problem but arrived to find 1 bed but they did make up a room with twin beds.The room was on the Water Street frontage and with a new construction opposite the noise of trucks etc started before 5am. Realise this is not the fault of resort but best to stay away from street front units.TV hardly worked as WIFI kept dropping out even on Free to air TV.

A nice stay in the quiet part of town

The apartment is located at the quiet end of the Esplanade. The main tourist area is about half an hour walk away, however, here are cafes nearby. It is a nice walk in the evenings while it is cooler.
The hotel has a nice sized pool which has shade. Overall, it is a nice place to stay. Thank you.

Good apartments with a few challenges

Comfortable apartment with a full kitchen, which suited our needs. With the glass doors open at night to get natural airflow, we were often kept awake by music or noise from other apartments. The complex is also not far from the end of the airport runway, with the first plane taking off before 6am, so sleep was a little challenging.

Although there is an elevator that goes to all apartments, there are about 8 steps at the front of the complex that need to be navigated to get to the elevator or you have to enter through the car park.

We opted not to hire a car due to cost. The complex is located only a short Uber ride from downtown Cairns.

Internet kept cutting out. Location at far end of Cairns. Got road view apartment which was noisy.
Stayed for a week, needed to pay for extra toilet paper !!! (received 2 rolls). Parking was small, but great being under building. Pool area was lovely, but needs heating in winter months. Apartment was roomy.

Nice sized apartment for 2 Adults and 2 Children. Good balcony and Pool. Our apartment was a little old and the doors on each balcony seemed a little tricky to lock and unlock. Very convenient having our own Washing Machine and Dryer as well as a full sized kitchen. We had other family members also stay in another apartment and had more updated furniture. Overall, a good place to stay if you prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle but still on the Esplanade.

20 of us recently stayed at Northcove for my sister's 40th. The staff were lovely, and very helpful. The apartments are awesome, we were able to all get on the same floor.
The pool area is great, we spent a lot of happy time there.
I can't fault a single thing, will be back and CAN'T wait!!

Good amenities, WiFi good, reasonable location (a car would be necessary to access shops and eateries), beds were very comfortable, free secure parking. Overall, the apartment was a a bit disappointing in its presentation. There was mould in the bathrooms, bathtub was dirty looking, soft furnishings were grubby (need to be deep cleaned or replaced), the TV is a bit dated (doesn't have all the options most people expect these days). Soundproofing from the apartment above is not adequate, loud noises from people above could be constantly heard. View from the apartment (#11) not very nice - car park or back of apartement was the choices.

Overlooking the esplanade was fantastic, it was the quiet end of the esplanade which made it more comfortable. Very close to the airport access. The only noise (when you are outside) is the occasional aircraft taking off, but inside the unit and the doors closed you did not hear it.

The address is given as The Esplanade, but a notice on the gate says that check on is Lake street (around the corner). Fortunately the cab driver hadn't driven off and re-loaded our bags and took us around.
Two (short) flights if steep steps to negotiate with luggage to check in and then get to room is not a good start.
Okay after that as we used a different entry.

The apartment was clean but very dated. Seating not very comfortable. Beds not bad. Shower excellent.

The information book advised that our rubbish had to be taken down to the bin in the basement car park or we'd be charged $50.

Probably wouldnt t stay there again - we are a senior couple without a car and it's a long walk to facilities, although the waterfront location is good as was the view from the balcony.

I read the reviews for this property on Trip Advisor before booking and thought all would be good given the positive reviews. Can't fault the lovely pool area and grounds which are well maintained. The BBQ's were handy for a bit of home cooking in the evening. The layout of the one bedroom apartment was also good with the balcony a lovely place to sit to enjoy the afternoon sun. The bed was comfy. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking utensils and pots. Having access to a washer and drier was also great during our stay. But this is where the praise stops. Our flight from Brisbane was changed by Qantas and we arrived at the complex at 12.30pm. As as reception is closed from 12-2pm with no way of leaving our luggage securely or contacting reception we had to sit and wait for 90 minutes. Whenn reception did open we were then told your apartment is not ready. I appreciate the email signature from North Cove does say they are closed between 12-2 but your arrival time is something to bear in mind when booking. The apartment we were allocated was shabby and long overdue for a refurbishment. There were stains on the carpet, black mould in the bathroom and where the towel holder had been moved the original holes had been filled but not painted. The ceiling in the bedroom also had various marks over it, as did the bedroom walls. The apartment was at the rear of the complex on Lake Street which has continuous traffic.

The apartment was very clean and well looked after. Parking was a bonus and check in was straight forward and easy. The kitchen was well stocked with plates etc and the washer/dryer came in very useful.

The only downside was the location, although on the Esplanade it was a fair hike to the nearest supermarket. It’s a shame there aren’t a few more amenities closer by.

The appartment was spacious and well supplied. The bed was comfortable and the area quiet. It was a little bit of a walk into town (20-30 mins along the foreshore) but we had a car to get around in anyway. It was a little older in style but we were there out of season so it was goo value for money. The staff were very helpful. Secure undercover parking was available. Wifi was good.

My experience staying at North Cove with my family was mixed.
Positives were the great staff who were always really helpful and the large 2 bedroom apartment size. The apartment also had everything we could possibly need.
Negatives were the apartment was tired, not very clean and the acoustics were not great.

Room did not have the facilities advertised. We picked an apartment for the ability to have in room laundry facilities, but there was no dryer. The kitchen facilities were not as advertised, with very basic cooking equipment and a portable hot plate.
The room was at the back of the complex on the ground floor next to a busy road, which was terrible at night.
I would not recommend this property to others looking for a longer stay in a self-contained apartment.

It is a fair walk to town, a good thing to stay active, and away from riff-raff. Too far to walk with groceries though. I recommend this place for families.

We found the unit we were in, to be great value. It was perfect for our needs. 4th floor overlooking the bay.
Cooling in each room with ceiling fan. Our unit had near new appliances and furnishings.
Office staff friendly & helpful.

Note we are clean freaks that wash down benches, bathrooms & all utensils before using them. That's just us & we do the same at all places we stay at.

We were very happy with our stay and would recommend for sure.

First I would like to say the staff is excellent and a great resource for things to do. I know they have great units, ours was not one of those. Unit 14 is not, faced the road- did not offer option to pay more for oceanside room. We loved the secure parking garage with remote below the property. Room was baron and misdecorated, bed was the worst (extra extra firm and I believe old- only had sheets with 1 blanket in the closet. Nice to have washer and dryer and kitchen. It would not take much to make this room nice. Only received 2 sets of thin towels with no daily cleaning. Cleanliness- it was cleaned but bugs in the lights and missing the detail cleaning. I wish I would have selected a property closer to the pier and activities as parking was expensive. It is a 30 minute+ walk to downtown area where all is going on and tours start. A hotel closer to the Lagoon would have been perfect and there were many nice ones. Sometimes I like to be out of the activity for rest but this one is not in a quiet area.

We arrived early morning expecting to have to leave bags at reception for check in later in day. However room was ready for us and no additional charge to enter it early. Big relief when an infant is in tow. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.

Room are large with air conditioning in living area and bedroom. Although clean and tidy the rooms do look a bit tired and could do with a touch of renovation.

Walk into cairns centre is around 20 minutes along the waterfront. Its a nice walk with lots of activities going on. Overall we liked the hotel.
