NO WIFI! In this day and age, not providing WiFi when you cater to travelers is a deal breaker. It is a necessity! Just appalled by this. Apartment is ok at best. Necessities are provided, but it is a very basic place. TV remote needs replaced. Very very little natural light…you need to have all the lights on all the time. Not the owners fault…just a really bad design. Dark as a dungeon. Furniture is fine…bathrooms need serious attention. The mold and corrosion is quite icky.

The apartments are clean but very basic - certainly no frills and a bit soulless. It was quite noisy, with lots of traffic noise, planes overhead and other residents. It's not very central; a solid 30 minute walk to the centre, and part of it is quite dark at night so if you don't have a car I think it would be inconveniently located.
Also, there is no wifi (apparently there is wifi in the 'common area' on the ground floor, but it didn't work for us at all and even if it did, I don't know where you would sit in that space to use it) and we all struggled even with our phone data, so that was a bit annoying.

Unfortunately my last stay at Edge Apartments was disappointing! We were there with family from NSW to see my son March for Anzac Day . The apartment we got for 4 adults was smelly especially in the second bedroom! Also the outside lighting lit up this room every night which made it hard to get to sleep ! Beds requested wasn’t met ! My husband & I had to sleep in single beds! The furnishing is dated & not modern like I have had before !
Our remote control for the undercover car park never worked & our car had to be parked outside ! I messaged the caretaker but every time I went passed the office it was closed ! I was sent a message by him to say he was in the complex but we were out all day sight seeing ! After the battery was replaced on our last day there the remote still did not work ! Did some washing & the lint compartment was full as & looked like it had never been cleaned! The dryer is noisy & I think the drum is scraping the sides . On a positive note the apartment is a generous size and was equipped with all the basic necessities ! Sorry My feedback is not the best !

The property is overall decent and It is situated in a decent location, however the building design lets in down.
The fan for the aircon units sits in the indoor covered area which blows hot air when it’s already hot enough in Cairns.

The apartment was really nice, well-equipped, and comfortable. The absolute deal breaker for us was the lack of Wi Fi coupled with only intermittent mobile phone signal. This resulted in us being several times huddled together outside under umbrellas at night trying to book tours and manage flights and hire car bookings...

Would have given excellent rating but for this! Our group had 4 mobiles, 1 laptop, 2 tablets and 2 ereaders - which were mostly useless bricks at this location.

We arrived late on the first night and check in was very easy and communication was great from property.
The unit was not as pictured in the advert as had no indoor dining room at all. When we were moving around the unit our feet were literally black from the dirty floor to the point of the white bath mats having black footprints on them when we showered. There was no broom or mop in the self contained unit to clean the floor so had to go out and buy our own cleaning materials.
The dishwasher did not work and the ceiling fans were very noisy when turned on in bedrooms and the Lounge room ended up only blowing hot air.
Our stay was for 7 nights over the Christmas period so we did not try to contact the reception until the first day after the holidays and was not open at all over the next few days even though we tried numerous times, at least 4 each day at different times.
Finally on the last day we rang the emergency mobile number to advise of the issues to a not very accommodating response stating that electrical appliances can be unreliable and that is that pretty much. I also made a cup of tea and used the little supplied milk tubs out of the fridge, tea tasted funny, use by date was 03.06.20 considering it was the 29th of December 2020. The reception was not very accomodating with that one either.
Was very disappointing considering the amount of cost involved.
I am far from a fussy customer and never leave reviews but this was a very disappointing stay for Xmas.

the edge represents good value for the price. We stayed in a penthouse Apartment. The noise mentioned in previous review RE the backpackers is noteicable but they turn it don later on (or did when we were there) Manager was superhelpful. it is close to the airpot but we had more aircraft noise in a different property that was further away.

We've stayed at the Edge a number of times over the years. If you can book for a reasonable price its a good family option. The units all different so it's a bit hit and miss on the layout and furniture / fit out as some have been better than others. Parking is secure and there are two elevators. It's right next to a backpackers and although it can be a bit noisy on the northern end of the complex once in your unit with aircon on you don't hear a thing. Overall fairly good but a few things are showing their age. The onsite manager Greg is always friendly and helpful.

Apartments 19, 20 , 21 near that end of the complex get lots of noise from a neighbouring bar or backpacker or something. The main office wasn’t occupied often so if you needed to see them you can have a long wait.

No after hours service at all.
We were given only one set of keys. Keys got locked in to one of the bedrooms where our child was sleeping and we could not open the door. Tried to call the after hours number at 10 pm- not answered, left a voice message- no response, no acknowledgement even next day which was a week day! No acknowledgement at all for the complete stay.
Would never go back to this property again.

The balconies, while being very large are very closed in and quite uncomfortably hot. Our unit was very well decorated and furnished and the full kitchen had everything you need. The plates and cups in the cupboard were dirty but we gave them a clean and we lived. We had a 2 bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms, we requested 2 king beds but were given a room with 2 singles and 1 king. We only had 1 roll of toilet paper between 2 bathrooms and 4 adults. Reception staff were super friendly but hard to get a hold of as reception hours are limited. The apartment was very spacious and well kept, water pressure was fantastic. The pool was hot and soupy, could use another shade sail. Large underground car park was great but only 1 vehicle per room as they didn't have enough remotes for the roller doors. On street parking is available but not ideal as the surrounding neighborhood is a bit shady. Quite a long walk to central shopping center and esplanade/nightlife, would recommend having a vehicle to stay here. All in all, 7/10

False advertising on free wifi. Wifi is only accessible from ground floor near office. Room was very poorly kept, unclean, mouldy. Shower in ensuite sprayed water through the whole bathroom because connections needed fixing. Therefore that shower wasn’t usable.

Greg at reception was the only good thing about my stay. He was very friendly and professional. The room itself was large and nice but the is no wifi in the rooms. The bed is why I will not be back, I travel a lot for work spending at least 6 nights a month away. I could feel the springs from the mattress and it was extremely uncomfortable. I also expect wifi available in room.

Top spot for families.

Arrived after reception hours however this was not a problem as Greg put our keys in the safe and even gave us an upgrade. Huge apartment, all facilities including kitchen, washer and dryer, lounge area etc. parking is very safe and secure. Car parks are a good size. 2 X lovely pools. Located a short drive from town or 20 - 30 walk along the esplanade.

Not worth the money

If your looking for true penthouse quality, then Edge Apartments isn't for you!!

My family and I recently stayed in a 3 bedroom penthouse, and to say we were very disappointed is an understatement.

Upon stepping out of the elevator on our floor, we were greeted with a horrible stench that never went away our whole stay. The hotel room was spacious with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms but the cleanliness was not up to standard. Dirty walls, floors and the couch looked like it hadn't ever been cleaned.

The balcony was a great size but we unfortunately couldn't use it. An external air conditioning box was situated right next to the outdoor table making the balcony very hot and noisy. The balcony has external shutters that can somewhat be opened but not enough to let out the hot air from the aircon box. Major fault I believe.

Our room key which was meant to give us access throughout the apartment facilities didn't work so we could not get back in after going for a swim.

Won't ever recommend Edge Apartments to any family and friends and certainly won't be back any time soon.

This is a good choice for 4 people. The roll away proved for our fifth person was suitable for a child, but not for an adult. It was a convenient apartment with all modern facilities but living room's lounge was too old to sit on so were the cushions. The cleanliness was ok but heaps of cockroaches came out at night so we were too afraid to switch off the lights at night. We also saw one lizard (First time ever in Australia) roaming around in the outdoor balcony. It was a cheap accomodation but not too bad but could have been better if pest control was done in a timely manner.

We had the Pent House, no difference to any other

When we arrived at 3pm,the office was closed. We had to wait 30 minutes until the Manager arrived to take our details etc, and give us the keys.
In the spiel on this apartment it said there was a barbeque on the balcony, well there was none, you could see where it was bolted down to some time ago. Then we had to go to the ground floor and try the poolside Barbeque. Only one burner worked , gas ran out and we changed the bottle but our steak was stewed as the plate was not hot enough. Then back to the top floor to finish the cooking on the stove.
Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Won't be going there again.

The Edge Apartments in north Cairns is not your typical hotel. There's no 24-hour desk attendant and no room service. But the rooms are spectacularly large and well-equipped. Passing through the entryway my wife and I found ourselves in a large living room adjacent to a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and microwave. Nearby is a large screen HDTV and a comfy sofa to lounge on. Further on is a bathroom and beyond is a large bedroom with king size bed. In the bedroom there's plenty of space to hang your clothes and a shelf to stash other belongings. Each room has an air-conditioning unit, essential in the tropical climate. Another big plus is the manager, Greg, who is on premises from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and is there to help out with directions, suggesting things to do, etc. If you arrive after 4 p.m. you'll get directions on your mobile phone telling you how to access your keys. We found the Edge Apartments by chance and have spent a delightful 10 days here in our home away from home.
