We stayed from Nov 12 to 17th in a 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the pool and ocean. We had a wonderful time in this holiday apartment and had everything we needed - and there were loads of nice touches - like coffee, tea bags, some milk etc and dishwasher tablets. Having laundry in the unit was a major plus! Loads of beautiful birds and fruit bats can be seen from the balcony! I really truly appreciated this place for our time in Cairns.

We checked in over the weekend; staff wrote me to inform they aren't at the desk on weekends but sent great detailed information on how to check in. Nice location, quiet and next to a hotel which made for easy pick ups for tours that offered it. There were three of us and we all slept well, enjoyed the view and appreciated having a clean place to come back to. We only got one key, so on the day we split up we had to arrange amongst ourselves who would have the key and ensure they were home so we could be let in. That was easy enough for us to do, but may have asked for a second key if we were staying longer. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Great Communication prior to our stay. Clear instructions on how to enter premises and check in. Two bedroom apartment was spacious for our family of 5, including 3 teenagers. Cooking facilities were in good working order and the full size fridge with freezer was great. Laundry in apartment was very handy for washing and drying towels and was stocked with laundry detergent. One more roll of toilet paper would have been great 😃

(1) Air conditioning did not work properly and did not cool down room adequately. There was a sign on air conditioning switch saying to not turn it down below 24 degrees as it would cause water to leak in through ceiling. It appears this is an ongoing issue.
(2) Toilet seat would not stay in up position.
(3) Bed sagged in the middle if you rolled towards middle of bed.
(4) Apartment had musty smell on entering.

Bedroom and apartment were adequate size and location of property was reasonable being on the Esplanade.

Ideal base just out of main CBD, flat picturesque walk to heart of Cairns and it's shops and markets. Very easy access to main highways heading north or south. Close to airport. Onsite management available and very personable. We arrived out of hours, clear instructions given to access unit. Kept informed of any maintainance (upgraded balcony lights). Clean pool, barbecue area, well maintained gardens and site.Everything you need for your stay and good welcome pack to get you started.

A bit disappointing

No-frills '80s style apartment, with minimal sign of updates since. Our \"ocean view\" apartment had a rather limited peep of the sea and the only natural light in the completely internal second bedroom, was from shutters between it and the kitchen. Adequate for a short stay, but it wouldn't be our first choice for a return trip.

Disappointing second visit.

We first stayed here six years ago and rated it quite highly. However, since that time the establishment has not been maintained well. At least three of the rooms were out of action for mould remediation works, and our room was also suffering from the effects of high humidity along the skirting boards, etc. The light switch in the bathroom was in a dangerous state and the towel rail was reattached to the door without worrying about repainting. Even the two sofas had lost all support in the cushions and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Although the location is still great, this places has not aged gracefully and we won't be returning for a third visit.

A lovely and welcoming unit across from the beautiful oceanside park and walking path. (No real beach here.) Very clean, nice clean pool and barbecue area, kitchen was well-equipped, and area was quiet. (We were wondering about the planes being quite close to the airport but we heard none at night.) Check-in and check-out super easy, and management was very responsive to email communication. Our unit was made available to us as soon as we got there, well before check-in time. There are not a lot of restaurants really close by for walking to if you don’t have a car, but if you don’t mind walking or grabbing a taxi/Uber it’s good. Loved the relaxed feeling in this location and could have stayed longer! Would highly recommend. Thank you, Waterfront Terraces!

On arrival had washing powder, tea, coffee, dishwashing liquid etc for use (free). Towels for swimming provided at cost of $2 per day (or maybe for entire stay. Not sure) Books, DVD,S available to borrow. Fridge/Freezer excellent size or couple/family. Stroll of about 25 minutes along foreshore to the many cafes and eateries. Highly recommended. Graeme.

There was nothing to like about this place, walked in the door and there was a massive wet area on the tiles which was a slip hazard this was explained that the apartment below was running their A/C flat out and was causing condensation? Really,there were ants in the kitchen, 1 1/4 toilet rolls for 6 people, bed linen was clean but had marks all over it and really thin, toilet didn't flush properly, if you opened bathroom door to quickly the roof panel slammed and scares the heck out of you after using towels to wipe up water in hall way they were black as if the apartment has never seen a clean mop or bucket of water, I came out of there feeling like I needed a shower, really not worth the money and certainly not worth the stars it supposedly has

We had a fantastic stay at Waterfront terraces. The whole place is clean and well kept and the gardens are beautiful and tropical. Rooms are spacious and clean with verandas that look out to the ocean. We used the pool quite a bit. Donna was very accommodating when we wanted to change our booking, we ended up staying longer because it was so enjoyable!

Very nice place in Cairn

We stayed for 5 nights on the 2 bedroom 3rd floor. We have a family of 4 and the room is spacious and clean. Wifi works well.
The location is a little far from center which required about 20min walk. We have a car so it's not a problem for us.
The only thing that could be improved is the lack of a recycle bin so all the plastic bottles etc... are thrown to the trash. I am not sure if they are going to sort them out.

In a small complex right on the Esplanade which suited us.
The amenities were great but a few smaller items may have made our stay easier. Little things like salt and pepper, change of towels every second day, would have given us more time to relax and not stand by a washing machine or drier waiting. Trivial... but you asked for comments😳
Passive smoking was an issue for me too. Whenever we sat on our balcony, smoke continually wafted up from downstairs. I would ask for a different room next time we stay. We left our balcony open 24/7 and could even smell smoke when you entered during the day. This may not bother other people, but with bad sinuses, it wasn’t nice.
Lovely surrounds and pool. Will stay again next time but try to chose our room😜

Good location with waterfront views, a little further away from restaurants etc though have stayed closer to town and was rowdy and noisy so preferred this location as it’s located in a less touristy area. It is however closer to airport so there was noise from planes. Ok for me as it was a working trip. Great internet and rooms were clean and comfort. I stayed for several weeks, so paid extra for cleaning but it’s not expensive especially as the room rate is great value. Though it would be good if they could update the ducted air conditioner as it was very noisy, as was the plumbing. You can hear when your neighbour is having a shower.

The property is in a nice location, overlooking the waterfront. The rooms were clean and tidy, a little tired and outdated with older style furniture. The kitchen was well equipped and self contained.

There are three levels to this building and it is noisy at night if you are unlucky enough to get people in the room above who shower late, stomp around like elephants and bang doors and cupboards.

However, Donna who manages the hotel and the front desk is super friendly and extremely helpful. She will happily book any tours required.

We were unfortunately only here for two nights, it was a lovely apartment. Exactly as pictured. Comfortable and plenty roomy for the two of us. The staff was so friendly and helpful whenever we needed the least little thing. The only thing I would mention is that it really isn't within walking distance of downtown, for dinners etc. (at least not for us!). We would certainly stay here again, with a rental car.

Enjoyed 7 nights stay and found coming and going easy, safe and accessible
The bedroom was not cooled by the air-conditioning system enough to guarantee a good easy sleep; but the bed was comfortable. The apartment furniture was a little too hard and austere to really relax in; tv remote control needs new batteries. Refrigerator seal needs replacing. Dishwasher dial had lost its markings, so you couldn't read the settings. Overall, the apartment showed that it has aged enough to need some tlc maintenance, but fundamentally the bones are good and the property reflected value for money. The stairs are quite steep. Be prepared - especially with heavy or bulky cases. I would recommend this property as being a worthy spot for a good valued short-stay.

Waterfront Terraces is located right on the quiet end of The Esplanade at Cairns, with entry from the street behind. It is close (walking distance) to Cairns Hospital for anyone in town to visit a loved one based there, as we were. We were put into ground floor unit 3. The layout of the room is comfortable with a generous kitchen and lounge area. Lounge suites (1 x 3 and 1 x 2) looked new. The lounge opens up to small patio which is open to the shared front lawn/garden area. Management allows smoking outside which for smokers may be great, but for non-smokers - you can encounter cigarette smells from time to time. The decor in the bedroom was sparse, devoid of colour, tired and uninviting. Only 1 bedside table and reading lamp, a plain grey/blue comforter. No curtains, just a venetian blind. Unfortunately, it seemed the unit above's loo was located above the bed so we could hear it flushing! The bed itself was uncomfortably firm. While the kitchen was modern and well appointed, the bathroom was tired and in need of a revamp. The unit contains a washer and dryer, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, etc. One of the bonuses was there were actual proper sized coffee mugs! (I hate those tiny little ones!). With a bit of inexpensive renewal, this unit could be top notch. It served our purpose, however, next time we would go elsewhere in the hope of a more comfortable night's sleep.

We had a lovely stay here over Christmas. The unit was spacious and had everything we needed. We enjoyed walking down the Esplanade every morning and having a cup of coffee down there. It was very accessible to most of the main things in Cairns. We walked to Cairns Central and the movies. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning was really loud and we couldn't leave it on at night as we couldn't sleep. The bin area, which we had to access to dump our rubbish (unit rules) was absolutely disgusting. It smelt really bad.

Nice apartment overlooking the water

The apartment had all the facilities for a self catering establishment with a great view. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The apartment was a bit dated and could do with a freshen-up otherwise it met our needs exactly.

Pleasant accomodation on the Cairns esplanade

Great location - balcony overlooked the beach on the north cairns esplanade. The bedroom was at the back of the apartment so quieter for sleeping. The kitchen / lounge area was quite large. Very nice older block of units - not too many about 24. Offstreet undercover parking provided through the back entrance off Lake Street. About a 2 km walk into Cairns city along the Esplanade. We would stay there again - very happy.

Apartment with ocean view

We were on the third floor, no lift. There was water on the laundry room floor, reported! Something to do with plumbing! Three wine glasses, one was badly chipped. Not the cleanest place I have stayed in. Food behind couch cushions. It was a good size but not a luxury app. As advertised. Uncomfortable double bed.

Spacious hotel on the Esplanade

Only two nights before a snorkel boat tour. Apartment was very large with a balcony terrace facing the bay. While the hotel is fine, we didn't like the location vis a vis restaurants, groceries, beach, so we moved to Trinity.Beach.

The location right on the Esplanade in Cairns is perfect. The rooms had everything we required, bed configurations, kitchen and laundry facilities , ample cupboard space. The cleanliness could have been better e.g. dust behind doors and the bed covers really needed a good airing.Andrew, the manager was very friendly and helpful.

Waterfront Gem

This waterfront property is a gem of a small/mid sized hotel for your stay in Cairns. Had ground level 1 bedroom apartment for 7 night highly enjoyable stay. Unit had a wonderful private little poolside patio for enjoying morning coffee and breakfast. Nicely landscaped pool area with excellent covered BBQ pergola. Pool was clean and warm and many early morning and evening swims were enjoyed. Jetted whirlpool alcove in the pool was great for refreshing after long days of touring surrounding areas like the reef and Kuranda. Free Wifi. Fully equipped unit with full kitchen including fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, pots & pans, utensils, kettle & toaster. Made for very affordable stay by buying fresh seafood from one of the excellent nearby (walking distance) seafood shops or grocery stores and cooking poolside on the BBQ. Wonderful!! Unit included a clothes washer and dryer, much appreciated for last week of 1 month tour of Australia. 20-25 minute walk along a very pleasant esplanade to town centre and marina departure point for reef tours. Not a sandy swimming beachfront, signage warned of crocodiles. Numerous excellent restaurants are located along and just off the esplanade as you walk closer to town centre. Train station located near town centre. 24 hour grocery store and a well stocked liquor/wine/beer store located within 10 minute walk. Unit was clean, quiet, well appointed, friendly staffed, good location and perfect for me. Would definitely stay here again

stay here for a great downtown location water view

this is a great place, convenient to downtown, walkable if you are fit. very quiet, huge one bedroom place with everything you could want.
