I had a very pleasant stay at the Excelsior Hotel. The staff was consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my visit, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

The location is a major highlight—very central and convenient. It’s just a short 3-minute walk to Galeries Lafayette, making shopping incredibly easy, and Palais Garnier is also within close walking distance.

For its star rating, the hotel offers solid value for money. Overall, a great choice for anyone looking to stay in the heart of Paris without overspending.

Location location. This hotel is close to everything! So many metro stations nearby and shopping, Opéra are walking distance. So many restaurants, breakfast and grocery within minutes walking.
However a major downside was the loud sound of metro vibrations every 2 mins made it very difficult to sleep at night. I understand this is not the hotel's fault, but it was still a downside for me. The room condition was very basic, carpet wasn't clean, finishes subpar in the rooms, breakfast buffet was not appealing, I've stayed in other hotels in Paris with similar cost, location, and had a much better quality breakfast. Overall I would not stay here again, simply due to the interior room condition and sound of metro vibrations.
Staff was kind and smiled at me and my daughter every time we came in our out.

They charged me for an additional night because the reservation was registered twice. That is the first time in my life that I see something like that. I showed up and stayed the nights that I reserved and still they charged me for one night “for the other room” that I never showed up for. The reservation was always for one room and they still charged me for an additional night. This is the worst customer service that I had experience in my life. I liked the location of the hotel and that is why we stayed there. Obviously we won’t be staying there ever again.

Location:
Excellent location — just half a block from Galeries Lafayette and only a few steps from the metro station. Perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and exploring central Paris on foot.

Metro Access:
Couldn’t be more convenient. The nearby station makes it easy to reach major attractions like the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Montmartre without long transfers.

Staff / Service:
Front desk staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Check-in was smooth, and they provided great local recommendations.

Room:
Unfortunately, the room itself didn’t live up to the location. While it was spacious for a family of three, the condition was quite poor. The bed was old and lumpy, the sheets had a faint mildew smell, and the carpet was visibly dirty. The floor creaked with every step, and the overall décor felt very dated — more like a basic 3-star at best.

Comfort:
The highlight was the small balcony, which offered a charming Parisian view and some fresh air. Otherwise, comfort was limited due to the worn furnishings and musty atmosphere.

Overall:
Fantastic location and friendly staff, but the rooms are in need of serious updates. Would stay again only if renovated — location alone can’t make up for the lack of comfort.

Great Location and Cozy Stay in the Heart of Paris ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel! The location couldn’t be better — right next to Galeries Lafayette, surrounded by great restaurants, and with easy access to public transportation. It made getting around Paris incredibly convenient.

The breakfast was simple but delicious, with everything fresh and nicely presented. My room was small, as expected in Paris, but very well organized and comfortable. The bed was great, and I slept wonderfully.

The only minor downside was the shower, which is quite small and could be a bit tight for taller or larger guests. Still, overall, this hotel offers great value, comfort, and an unbeatable location. I’d definitely stay here again!

A good hotel, great location

We stayed for 1 night at the Hôtel Excelsior Opéra.

The location is excellent. The big department stores are a two minute walk away from the hotel and most major sights are within walking distance. There are also several metro stations nearby.

We had room 532 which was bigger and better than we expected. It was designed to sleep 3 people, had a good size bathroom with a bathtub and shower in connection with, an espresso machine and some capsules, a good size desk and two chairs, and a stocked minibar.

The noise insulation was great. The hotel is situated on a busy road and we did not hear any noise.

The breakfast room was on the first floor. It was fairly small but did not get crowded. The breakfast had all the standard offerings: Breads, croissants, pastries, ham, two kinds of cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, scrambled eggs and tea and coffee. The items were of good quality (we especially liked the hard cheese), the selection was replenished regularly and we found it to be good value for 14 euros.

The only 2 inconveniences were that there was no price list for the minibar, it was readable only using a QR code / reader. For us, two elderly people, that was too much technology. Other people have mentioned that there should have been free bottled water in the room, but we didn't get that.

Still, we are very likely to be back as we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is very conveniently located in a very touristy spot.

The hotel and rooms are overall very clean but they use a room scent that is soooo overpowering and cloying. I’m not sure what they’re trying to mask. Also considering that there is a sign in Japanese asking customers to review the hotel is highly advise using such a strong room scent. The Japanese are even more sensitive to strong scents because they don’t use strong scents and perfume liberally as we do.

Also my room was extremely small. Luckily I only needed to sleep there but if you’re thinking of spending some time in your room this is not the right place.

For my purposes at the time which was to attend a concert in Olympea it was on and convenient but for coming to Paris and taking it slowly and properly sightseeing I would go somewhere else.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel, the lobby and rooms are newly renovated and everything was very clean. The staff were also very pleasant and helpful. The only complaint is that the air conditioning in the room was very weak and wasn't able to keep up, so the room was quite hot. To be fair, Paris was experiencing a heat wave when we were there so I'd still definitely recommend this hotel.

We were at this hotel for only 2 nights. It was in a great location. Staff were nice and friendly. My only complaint would be the shower/tub. The water pressure was low and the sides of the tub were too high for someone like me who has an issue with my knee so getting in and out was difficult.

Location is great, the night staff is very good the room location was great. Construction in the reception is unsafe for fall risk floor covered with sleepey ? Plastic and bannister was taken off and wires dust paint smell. Carpet stained in the room. Cleaner responded but the the stain in the room was still there. If the construction this will be a perfect location and perfect hotel for me.

Warning - there is no parking at this location - only drop-off and it is very bustling being a block away from Les Galeries Lafayette so perfect for a shopping trip. Metro stop a block away. Room and bathroom were clean and good size - bed comfy and linen crisp. Lots of cafes and restaurants with terrasses within walking distance while crowded had available drop-in space. Morning in-hotel continental breakfast had good variety. Front desk arranged for airport taxi pick up.

The hotel is just a few steps from the metro station. We exited through rue La Fayette and it's just in a beautiful and clean area. Lots of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options just around the corner. The staff are incredible and the sheets were very soft. There was some construction going on in the hotel but it didn't affect our stay since it's an upgrade and we spent most of our time walking around Paris and just the night in the hotel.

This property is not 3 star hotel, the lobby is equivalent to the size of a single car parking space, the elevator is the smallest elevator I have ever been on, 3 people with luggage can fit in at best. The corridor is so narrow, less than a meter wide, only one person can walk through at a time. Although it is close to Metro and shopping mall, it is sitting on a major street, you can hear sirens, cars, motorbikes and the underground metro all the way to 11-12pm, afterwhich you can hear your neighbor till 3am through the paper thin wall, then come 6am all the noises from the streets resume. There is no way you are getting any kind of rest here. For the price we paid 300 euro per night, you are getting sth worse than Super 8. Super 8 at lease have a proper lobby and corridor. Our coffee pods was never refilled, no water in the room, did I mention the shampoo, shower gell and hand soap are all the same, literally Just sitting in different bottles with same solution. Seriously, steer clear of this motel and save yourself a vacation.

Good no-nonsense stay in a central location

The hotel was a good, basic, comfortable stay in a central location. The hotel is being renovated, so the central stairway was being worked on and unavailable during many periods during our stay. Also, one of our rooms smelled strongly of fresh paint when we arrived. However, those are temporary problems, and the condition in the hotel will probably continue to improve with the renovation. The air conditioner in both of our rooms worked very well. The bathrooms were a nice size.

The breakfast is in a small room on the second floor. We did not opt to include it because it did not look impressive, and there are so many options around the hotel.

The front desk staff were all extremely friendly and responsive. However unlike a larger hotel, it felt limited what services they could provide. For example, we asked about a car service to the airport, and they could only suggest a cab stand or bus service.

This hotel is very close and walking distance to the Galeries Lafayette, other shopping stores and restaurants.

The only thing that was inconvenient for guests was undergoing renovations, construction in a hotel can be very inconvenient due to noise, dust, limited access to amenities, and overall disruption. The elevator wasn’t working so we had to take the stairs all the way to 4th floor. It was tiring after walking 15k miles exploring the city.
Thankfully the AC was working perfectly.

We were not informed that the property was under construction when we booked it. The stairs were constantly blocked by painters and the paint fumes were strong even in our room. The air conditioning in our room was broken and instead we had a fan which did nothing for the extreme heat. The elevator is TINY and can fit maximum 3 people squished like sardines. But the painters didn’t want to let us pass them on the stairs so it was a constant battle. For one day, the elevator broke down and people were carrying their luggage up and down all the stairs themselves. We were on the 5th floor, so running up and down wasn’t easy…especially for the two people over 70 we were traveling with. The front desk staff was very nice and great at giving us directions and recommendations, but they never acknowledged the construction or the broken elevator. On one occasion, we asked the front desk if the painters were still blocking the stairs because we had occasions where we got three flights up and the painters refused to let us pass and we had to come all the way back down (we had more people in our group than could fit in the elevator, so some of us always had to take the stairs), and the front staff seemed completely unaware of the painters. Super disappointing.

The hotel was very close to several restaurants, shopping and the train station. The hotel is currently going through major renovations and so the hotel was in great disorder. From heavy painting odors in the hallways, air conditioning did not work the entire time we were there. I chose this place because of its reviews and I would never stay at this hotel again. Don’t let the reviews make you think this is a nice hotel because it’s not!

The property is located in a good shopping district..perfect if you are in Paris to shop.Rooms are good size but very basic & old.

However the Hotel itself is tired looking, customer service is very poor. House Keeping not the best..

If anyone is to stay here, request for rooms on 1st or 2nd floor..Elevators dont work well and alot of stairs climbing..
If you have luggage, this will ne a nightmare..

This hotel was very very clean. The bed was very comfortable, the AC worked great and internet service was good. Small room but plenty for 2 people. Their breakfast options were spectacular it was the best breakfast I’ve had at a hotel. A nice balance of fruit, delicious meats and cheeses and condiments. The pastries and croissants and rolls were superb . The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the wrong connection to charge our phones and the hotel had an adapter that fit that we borrowed during our stay. They went out of their way to accommodate us in every way. Good location closes to the RER and metro stations. Nice stores in the area and some restaurants. The Opera house was about a 5 minute walk. I highly recommend this hotel.

All information was displayed appropriately, and the staff in general were always happy to help. The staff also spoke various languages, and this helped a lot.
The location made a guge diference.

Request a higher floor

Fantastic location (close to department stores, several metro stations and the RER, Gare du Nord is a quick bus ride), friendly staff. We arrived late on a Friday for a weekend stay, and got a room on the 1st (one above RDC/0) next to the kitchen. Even worse, you can hear the metro from that floor. I am not sure how high up you need to be to not hear it.

Rooms/bathrooms need an update, but are clean. We chose the hotel because it had an affordable family room queen and twin.

They put me in a first floor room that was just above Le Brasserie below. I came into the hotel feeling great, but as soon as I got into my room I realized it was a dusty old spot that reeked of cigarette death. Opening the window would make it worse, as the room was right above a popular smoking spot. I booked a double bed, but they gave me a room with two twins pushed together, and that sucks, a lot of hotels do it, but it sucks. I hate sleeping on a kid’s bed when I pay for a hotel. I thought the hotel had a gym, but they didn’t. I do respect that they gave me the money I paid for breakfast back when I saw that it wasn’t worth it, meager offering pour le petit dejeuner, but that was decent of you. Two nights of stuffy dusty living that I am so glad to have left behind me for another hotel. I couldn’t breathe well in that room, maybe other rooms at The Excelsior Opera are better on higher floors, but mine was unbearable and making me sick. If you are a cig smoker maybe you would love it, I definitely didn’t.
