The property looks excellent in photographs. However, while structurally the same, my wife and my experience was poor. I had contacted the property to inquire about an early check-in and was told it would be dependent on whether or not the room was ready. Understandable. We arrived about 45\" early, dropped off our bags and walked returning for the 4:00 pm check-in. The room was not ready until 4:25 pm for no understandable reason. [two other groups were waiting behind us].
Throughout our entire stay the internet was non-existent. We complained to the front desk to no avail. We rarely had even one bar on our phones even though the hotel states it has internet. We would have to go outside and use cellular data to book Ubers.
The TV, while visually new and listing multiple platforms available, rarely would go more than 8-10\" into any program before the signal was lost and a prompt would appear on our TV telling us to restart our router or the networks were operating on other Wi-Fi channels.
We brought this to the hotel staff and there was no resolution during our three day stay nor was the WiFi itself resolved.
The bathroom window only had a screen on the window and a plastic pull down, no window glass which not only affected the air conditioning but also meant all night we heard the cars and trucks going by.
Our room was a King Suite and these problems made our experience horrific.

We had the room by the lobby and it was so noisy. We could easily hear people talking at normal levels. There were people coming and going at all hours and the doors are loud. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep through the night.

I chose this hotel for its charm. If you want modern, Americanized, “6 star”, bring your expectations down or go stay at an overpriced chain. This stay was affordable and was a cute, cottage in the jungle theme. Most buildings in PR are old=historic. Checking in, the front desk attendant (Joanna) was sweet. They give you actual keys. We went through a little maze to get to my room but I enjoyed being tucked away and seeing the rest of the property. It had a huge bar next to my room that wasn’t being used. I wish it had but this location is walkable to many places! My room was HUGE. I had a living room, dining area w/a microwave and fridge (which is needed because they feed big portions everywhere), king bed and bathroom. Bed was comfy. Room temp cold, shower water can get hot, pressure fine. The only complaints put very lightly are: the way you have to lock your door (I didn’t know you had to lock the door before closing it and some random dude just walked in my room. Joanna explained to me after the fact. And when using your key, you have to turn it exactly to the original position or it would get stuck. I was a pro at it after the 1st day but it didn’t bother me much, just took me a min to get in every time), AC made lil noise (some people might complain about that but as a light sleeper, I was ok), it’s dim in the bathroom, hard to put on makeup, WiFi ok, asked for maid service 1 day & got missed & ran out of towels. They fixed it quickly. Pool small but beach 1 block away

The room was spotless. The staff was feiendly The location was excellent. Beach, restaurants, shops, bars all within walking distance. I would stay here again. The facility had little private areas outside with tables and chairs. The pool was perfect.

We were supposed to stay three nights, but we had to leave after discovering bed bugs in our room. We are extremely upset and disappointed with how the situation was handled. The manager was very relaxed about it and did not seem concerned or apologetic.
Our only option was to leave the hotel at 10:30 PM and try to find another place to stay late at night, which was very stressful. We ended up with bites all over our legs, arms, and backs.
I would not recommend staying at Wind Chimes Boutique Hotel.

Stayed 4 nights. Hotel is located 1 block from the beach and is in walking distance of good restaurants and coffee shops. Has private areas for groups to sit outside. We walked up to the local store and purchased wine and beer. There are small refrigerators in the rooms and an ice machine. If you’re looking for a 5-star hotel where everything is pristine, then this is not the place, however if you are adventurous and like a good vibe, then this is the place. Pool was broke but was fixed after 2 days. Could have used a bigger coffee pot. Location was great by the beach. Blocks from many breakfast spots and dinner restaurants.

Upon arrival to the hotel you smell raw sewage at both entrances, this was our welcome to the property each time we returned during the week. We walk around the area and beyond and that was not the case in our travels. The room looked nothing like what was advertised on Expedia, the room with the Queen bed was dirty , did not have a dresser for our clothes, the closet smelled like mold, the bathroom was disgusting, the pink ceramic tub from the 60’s did not drain when taking a shower it filled up with filthy water, the tiles in the bathroom were blue and they were replaced with light green tiles when they had to break into the walls, if they even bothered to put tiles in there were bare spots. The water trickled out of the sink but half the time we didn’t have running water. There are bare wires hanging out of the ceiling in the closed bar area. The hotel should close for a few years and make repairs to the areas of concern and make it a decent property, it does have potential but needs a lot of work.

Terrible. Checked in late on a Monday evening to discover the queen size room I booked was actually a full stuffed in a shoebox size room. Couldn’t even open the door all of the way without hitting furniture. Our last night we came back late after a full day of beach and old San Juan to discover there was no water in the whole hotel. I only discovered this after I left a juicy one in the toilet. No phone call or note to inform us and had to sleep in my day’s filth. I do not recommend.

I truly love supporting local businesses, and I really wanted this stay to be a great experience because the hotel definitely has potential. Unfortunately, there were several issues that made it hard to fully enjoy our time there.

We paid for amenities that were either unavailable or not functioning during our stay. The pool was out of service the entire time, and although there was a bar on site, there was never anyone working. There was also no maid service during our stay, no towel refresh, and we weren’t able to change our bedding.

The biggest concern was our room. There was standing water due to a leaking ceiling. We called about it multiple times, but it was never resolved. Because of the leak, the room smelled like mildew throughout our stay and attracted mosquitoes. We were bitten numerous times on our bodies and faces while inside our room, which was extremely uncomfortable.

To make matters worse, during the last few hours before checkout, our water stopped working completely, so we weren’t even able to shower before leaving for home.

Again, I genuinely believe this property has potential with proper resources and maintenance improvements. I hope they take feedback seriously and make the necessary changes, because I would love to see this hotel thrive — but based on this experience, it wasn’t the best stay for us.

The room was decent and the staff courteous.They were very accomodating when I checked out and had to leave my bags with them for a couple of hours.
They have free coffee in the morning and that's it. They have a pricey restaurant nearby where they'll steer you for breakfast but no one was in it but two waiters. The biggest disadvantage is that it can be noisy at night if people are checking in late.

Our stay At Wind Chimes was very peaceful and restful. The old spanish decor and beautiful greenery added a nice elegant touch. I was able to sketch at both At The Wind Chimes and at Acacia. I loved that we were able to enjoy both sister hotels. The staff was amazing, Bryan, Jhan, and Ariel were super helpful and attentive. Maid service was excellent( Rosalia you're the best!), what ever we needed they were able to accommodate. Everyone one was so nice and amiable. You guys have a great team, thank you! I would definitely be staying here in the future. Having stayed and experienced both these sister hotels, I am definitely torn. Between the pool, hot tub, patio decks, Niche restaurant( Carlos Morales did an amazing job with the food, definitely top notch cuisine), and the beach being right down the street, I had a lovely time and stay. Thank you.

When you arrive, you get an actual key. It opens your door as well as the private entrance doors that connect to the street. The hotel is probably my favorite hotel, not just in Puerto Rico, but from anywhere I've visited. It is beautiful and peaceful. You will feel so safe. Each room is tucked away in ypur own little alcove. There is a very nice small pool. There are lots of sitting areas. If you leave the hotel there are blocks of food, bakeries, snacks. It is a great place to stay if you want to walk and relax. It is approximately 7 minutes grom the airport and 7 minutes from old san juan.

The hotel is nice however, the website stated that they had a bar and they were pictures of it on their website when I booked when I got there they told me the bar had closed during Covid and they didn’t reopen it so that’s very misleading to your guests. The hotel room also didn’t have a refrigerator so leftovers couldn’t be brought back to the room unless you plan on eating them right away. The staff was very friendly and they cleaned your room every day. The beds are comfortable as well. One of the pros is that it’s very close to the beach. It really doesn’t take you long to walk there. There are a ton of shops in the area. You can walk to as well and La Placita is very close by great for an evening out different bars and clubs you can walk-through listen to bands playing streets are blocked off for this great atmosphere if you’re staying here that’s definitely a must.

Staff was not very accommodating when it came to an earlier check in. Literally made us wait in lobby or by pool until exactly 4:00 even though we got there at 10:00 from our cruise. Never offered us a towel or anything to make us comfortable. Room was very “stuffy”. Thank goodness there was a dehumidifier in the room. Remote and tv did not work. Had to get owner to come fix it. Overall, you get what you pay for. Would not stay here again as they put us “in the basement”!

Staff were extremely friendly and check-in and out was smooth. Maid service was okay. The pool was small but enjoyable. There were tons of small outdoor tables to sit and lounge around the property and outdoor plants were also welcoming. The book shelf and all the books were a nice touch. The location was great.

All that being said, there were are several things a person should know before booking. The listing showed a photo of a bar on the property. This bar looks like it hasn’t been attended to in years. It was dirty and empty of everything needed to run a bar. It’s just a counter with stools to sit.

If you’re looking for luxury, this is not for you. The room I got was disgustingly dirty. Windows had holes in the screen, which allowed for mosquitoes to come in. The paint was peeling off the walls. The bathroom floor planks were warped and peeling off. It was a very stressful time controlling the water temperatures for the shower. There was underwear stuffed in the main stairwell, which was there the entire stay. There was a trash bag of towels in some random corner that was there as well.

I’d go back for the staff, but I will likely not go back for a room.

The front desk supervisor was amazzzing. We arrived wayy early before check-in, she was very accommodating to see fit on getting us into a room.

The room was unique and felt very homely. I do hope the establishment considers making the room doors more secure by adding a deadbolt lock.

Aside from that, the staff was extremely pleasant and kind, and the atmosphere was beautiful—with flowers, plants and trees everywhere you go. The property felt very private, as access requires a master key through either of the two entrances. My only other small qualm is that I wish the pool were actually open until 9 p.m.

Needless to say, my birthday weekend went great!! Thanks again at Windchimes Boutique.

Check-in - Front desk staff was absent at published peak check in time. Lobby wasnt open from front entrance, had to be let in to the lobby to check in by other guests. There was a pile of luggage left by other guests attempting to check in and nobody's rooms were ready. When the front desk attendant finally arrived and checked people in he advised the only rules were check out time was 11 am, the in room safes do not work, lost keys $150 fee, smoking $300 fee and had us sign forms with out going over any of the other house rules your signature agreeed to.
Amenities - The website said the pool closed at 9pm. We were not checked in until 445pm, after traveling all day we quickly showered and went to eat. Returning to the hotel about 730pm and looking forward to a dip in the beautiful pool, which was the reason we booked this hotel, and found it was closed for the day. The website says the pool closes at 9pm, the posted signs say the pool closed at 6pm.
Services - the wesite says there is breakfast available on site. There is not, there is a restaurant at their sister property down the street which is whwere the staff can be found when bit at this property.
Additional - there was a couple in the lobby attempting to check out around 7pm. They said there room accommodations were unacceptable, dark and dirty, and they were unable to reach anyone at this property or the property down the street

-Bed was worn from years of wear and tear(curved in the middle).
-AC worked great.
-Walked in to find someone at the front desk vaping.
-Door to the bathroom was broken.
-Very close to the beach.
-May have had bed bugs.
-You can tell there was minimal effort in up keep since there were different light bulb warmth colors in one room.
-In the bathroom there look like mold on the ceiling(dark fungi or something similar).

I posted a bad review earlier during a temporary issue that was resolved immediately afterwards, and my experience the second night was nothing short of stellar. I’d like to have the review removed because it no longer reflects my experience (honestly I was ranting to let off steam in a draft and didn’t mean to post it) and am working with Expedia to get the posting taken down. My second night I had no trouble with street noise or light and the staff went above and beyond to make me and my family feel taken care of. They recommended great restaurants walkable in the neighborhood and gave helpful advice on transportation and attractions in the city.

If you are looking for an upscale boutique hotel, this is not it. BUT if you're coming to Puerto Rico and wonder what it feels like for Puerto Ricans to return to the island and visit family, this is the place to stay. The bathrooms are small and the door is louvered. The floor is made of natural stone tiles throughout the entire room, including the shower floor. The decor is a bit outdated but goes with the theme. And for those reasons, this place felt like home. The front desk was accommodating and warm. Though check-in hours are very strict, check-out is pretty flexible. The beach is a block away. Everything else is within walking distance. Towels were always fresh and so was the coffee every morning. I'd definitely stay again.

The room was clean and the decor cute. The property one block from the beach super easy walk.Located between two nightlife type districts. The blonde lady emplyee such a welcoming spirit!The gentleman we met the last day of the stay he was helpful. The property is landscaped and nestled on the corner. I’d totally recommend this property and return myself for another stay.

One of the twin beds that were pushed together to make a single bed had something wrong with frame or mattress and caused a 2\" deep dip in bed. Why would they continue to put sheets on it and not get it fixed. Other than that, hotel was cute and quaint in a great location.

I was really looking forward to this property after viewing the online pictures and reviews, but I found a much different experience during my stay. First of all, don't advertise that you have a bar onsite if it hasn't been open for 10 years. The bar is there but it has been a storage place for years and is not EVER open. If you want a bar you have to walk down the block to a sister hotel that has a bar attached to it. First night there we were up all night with some persons in a neighboring room in a drunken argument. They were in the hall and no one from the hotel even knew or checked on their property during the night. When I told the desk staff about it the next day, they never even made an offer to make right for my spouse and I, in any way. By the way, you can't call down to the desk to even say anything because they don't have phones in the room. What is maid service? To me maid service is new towels, made beds, refresh of coffee and other room supplies and clean the room. Here it means just taking your old towels and throwing some new ones on the bed. The windows in the room cannot be closed or locked...They were in disrepair and just freely swung open and shut depending on the weather. The hotel itself is overpriced for what you get and it is not a high-priced hotel. Staff was friendly but even their personalities couldn't fix this hotel's issues. Beach access was also a plus.

If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay on vacations, this is a beautiful hotel. Very rustic and so close to the beach. I loved everything about it with the exception that they never came to clean the room during my stay. I'm glad we were not messy people. Other than that, I recommend it.

I stayed here six nights, and while the location is great (two blocks from the beach, Walgreens and a nice café nearby), the overall experience didn’t meet expectations for the price.

Check-in was confusing with little communication. After giving my name, I was told nothing except to wait, and a man sitting near the counter (possibly staff) asked me to place my suitcase behind the stairs. I waited over an hour with no updates, even though I notified them about early arrival. No one offered help with my luggage when the room was finally ready.

The hotel looks much larger online. I never saw the bar shown in the photos, and the pool is very small. My coffee machine and safe didn’t work, the windows didn’t close properly (I ended up with mosquito bites), and I didn’t learn irons were available until day three when I happened to see one at the desk.

Housekeeping was minimal—towels replaced, bed made, and vacuuming, but no sheet changes or bathroom cleaning. Mornings are noisy with staff talking loudly and doors slamming.

The staff is friendly, but this property needs better communication, clearer information about amenities, improved housekeeping, and some updating. Fine for a short one- or two-night stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a full week.
