Nothing like the images. The room was relatively clean, but the balcony was filthy and did not overlook the garden. The whole exterior of this place needs a good power wash. Even the white umbrellas around the \"pool\" were covered in green algae. We checked out a day early as there was no water in the bathroom and moved into a hotel. I don't understand the owners' mentality, who could make it passable with a small investment.

I had a great time staying here as a solo-female traveler. The location was super easy for uber pickup/drop off, the beach was a 5-7 minute walk away, and tons of different shops and restaurants were within a 15 minute walk. Old San Juan is about a 12-15 minute uber ride away. I generally felt safe in my unit (I wasn’t staying out too late so I can’t speak to late night happenings). I would definitely consider staying here again. The only minor complaint I have is around cleanliness. The bathroom had at least 3 different people’s hair in various places that were immediately obvious when I used it for the first time. Ultimately it wasn’t that much of a problem for me.

The check in and check out instructions provided were super clear and easy to follow, and communication from the property about regularly scheduled maintenance was timely and professional.

Everything about our stay at La Mona Loiza Sta was 5 stars.
Check in was very easy, and easy step by step instructions on how to get into our room.
The room was clean. Parking was not hard at all even on a Friday/Saturday, maybe we got lucky.
The only complaint I have is the shower didn’t have enough water pressure and it was either very hot or cold, but not a big deal.
I would 100% stay here again.

Pros: Great location with easy access to a quality grocery store, restaurants, and the beach. The room was a good size and water pressure in the shower was good. Uber to/from the airport is $7-9 USD one-way. The check-in process is very easy. Clean room & building.

Cons: $10 to get new towels even though we are staying 6 days. The internet was really bad (loses connection in all rooms through the day, could not enjoy the smart TV at night when relaxing or trust the connection for any virtual work). If your room is at the front of the building, there is a lot of car noise throughout the day - loud music,honking. The traffic light near the building is very busy so loud music can last 1-2 minutes at a time. Outlets in the bedroom were blocked by furniture and most convenient way to charge phones were to use the kitchen or living room. You are asked not to flush toilet paper.

Overall, this was a good place to stay for a couple of days. The location is great, near restaurants and the beach.

The biggest downside was the traffic noise. Our apartment faced the main road, and the traffic noise was very loud at times. There were a lot of vehicles that had music so loud we could hear every word. It didn’t help that there was a large gap in the door that let the sound in.

Despite all that, we were usually so tired from the day that we slept pretty good both nights.

Third stay at this location. Well situated and within walking distance of the beach and shops. The place is well maintained. The only concern was that the apartment we received didn't match the one we had selected on the website. We contacted the host who replied that this was normal and depended on availability. The bathroom was very small and the front door wasn't properly sealed, letting in a few mosquitoes. Otherwise, a good stay overall.

I recently stayed at this property and unfortunately had a disappointing experience.

First, the room looked noticeably different from the photos advertised online. The expectations set by the listing did not match what was actually provided.

Each guest was given only one towel, and the property charges $10 for a replacement. In a warm, beach-type tourist destination, that policy feels unreasonable and inconvenient.

There were also no clear directions or signs to help locate the apartments/rooms, which made arrival confusing. To make matters worse, the main gate stopped working during the stay, creating additional frustration and concerns about security and accessibility.

The bathroom and shower were extremely small — almost cruise-ship sized — making them uncomfortable to use. On top of that, the shared/public areas were poorly maintained and did not feel clean or welcoming.

Overall, the stay did not meet expectations and I would not recommend this property.

The convenience of this location was outstanding!! The staff was nice and I would’ve loved to give this location 5 stars however, the water issue at this property put a huge dent in our overall experience. Firstly, there is little to no hot water at this property, we were told after check in that there have been some plumbing issues on the street. Also another HUGE inconvenience is the property asks that you do not flush any toilet paper, wipes, etc down the toilet due to the sensitivity of the pipes. This can be gross and inconvenient especially considering there is no daily cleaning service to pickup towels. It would’ve been good to have this information before booking.

The room was very clean as well as the bathroom. The pillow cases smelled very clean but had stains on several of them, both sides. We didn’t tell the host it was good enough. We had trouble with water running out but not due to the host. Beware that you can’t flush toilet paper. It was perfect for our one night stay. The window in the shower doesn’t close all the way so you may hear a little street noise but it didn’t bother us. We found free street parking but it took a minute. Plenty of places to eat around there. The host was very responsive.

The apartment was good, it didn’t like as vibrant as the pictures and the couch could use a cleaning or be replaced. We asked several times if we could check out at 11am instead of 10am but couldn’t accommodate. They did offer to store our luggage so we decided to do that but by the time they responded to my message about the storage we already had to check out. They responded to my message at 10:30am, I sent the message around 8:30am. Would not go back.

Overall it was okay, but probably wouldn't stay again. The apartment we were given was a ground floor, dark apartment - nothing like in tbe photos when we reserved. There was a LOT of humidity (also visible on the walls which was painted over) and it was impossible to air out even with all windows open - all my clothes were smelling of humidity when I got home and I had to wash everything to get rid of the smell. It's clear that the apartment is a bit older than seems in the pictures also. Bedroom quite nice, good mattress. Good kitchen (though the stove light could not be turned off). The water temperature in the shower was lukewarm at best. And the main entrance door really need a fix, when locked you can see the door is a bit wobbly, wouldn't be difficult to enter to be honest. The area is good and the apartment is well located. Also good communication from the property has to be acknowledged, they are very thorough with their service and messaging. Overall a mixed review.

I'm not sure where to start or how this place had good reviews to begin with. If you like to feel that the place you are staying is clean and mold free this is not the place for you. When we got into the room it was right after cleaning the smell of bleach could knock you out it was making us feel sick. The back bathroom had a musty, damp smell that was persistent. There was still sand on surfaces from the previous occupant and the floor would mark your feet brown walking in bare feet. The couch had stains all over it as did one of the box spring. I just wanted to spend as little time there as possible. The only positive thing I have to say is the staff was polite and really responsive to questions and requests.

The room was clean but the yellow chair in the bedroom was stain and looked dirty. Amenities were good, really liked the coffee and liquied creamer. All in all, the room was nice.

The only problem I had with the room was no hot water in the shower. I reported the problem and their handyman came to take a look. He could not fix the hot water problem so cold showers for entire stay.

I would suggest their cleaning crew sweep the stair leading from front entrance to third floor. The four nights I stayed at the location, the same dirt,small bits of paper and dust balls remained on all the front staircases to apartments. Otherwise, the outdoor area in the backyard was quite clean and neat.

Great value! Clean, comfortable and in a great location. We spent most of our time out on the patio enjoying the sun and warm weather. The pool and courtyard area were cute.
A couple issues were that the shower didn't get real hot, there was overwhelming mold on the courtyard cushions and umbrellas and the washing machine kept shutting off on us while trying to do a couple loads of laundry.
Still would definitely recommend simply because of the fantastic value, cleaning cleanliness of the room and comfort.

The location was convenient and the actual room was clean, but the building itself seemed dirty, there appeared to be mold on the walls (not in my room but in the stairwell), lots of trash and dust along the stairs, and my room did not have hot water. The apartment is very well located. The rooms and kitchenette are in very good condition, as are the linens and towels. The floor, however, wasn't very clean. The bathroom ceiling needs painting. Finally, the guest service was entirely online and very efficient. Checkout is at 10:00 AM, but I suggest changing it to at least 11:00 AM.

We expected the room to look more like the picture posted on the site. It is older, could use updating. Very small space. The bed was comfortable. We did not have hot water when first arrived, but this was addressed by staff.
The communication with the management was good.

The location is perfect, just a few minutes’ walk to the beach, a 24-hour grocery store, and nearby restaurants.

It’s also great for traveling with a baby, as they have a large fridge, laundry facilities, and a dryer.

The only downside was the mosquitoes.

This property was overall fine. The cleaning staff were nice but the hotel experience wasn’t great honestly. No water pressure in the shower it couldn’t even rinse sand off me, the hand sink had more. Smoke detector doesn’t work and isn’t on. Only one tiny small garbage that overfills because wits never changed. We weren’t left check out instructions so I hope I checked out correctly. The door to the building is supposed to lock but it often isn’t closed and is just open for anyone to come in. You have to push it shut. Bottom of bed all ripped up, no plates, no silverware or anything if you want to eat there. Had to go find people for new towels. Were bugs that kept getting in somehow and I got but up in my sleep a bit. Lighting isn’t awesome and the room is generally small. So overall not the best but it managed while we were there for three days. As a heads up if you stay there the intersection next to it’s lights don’t work and there is nothing telling which car to go or for pedestrians so be careful. Also many dips in the sidewalks random giant holes you will break your ankle in.

I’m not happy with my experience. I never write bad reviews but the customer service and understanding was terrible. I was told to wait outside by the pool before checking into my room because there was no lobby area. I asked for a general bathroom several times and they couldn’t even let me use the office bathroom. The pool area had so many mosquitos and I have proof. Ik it’s PR but one of the workers denied mosquitos and I took pictures. There was an inside lobby area that I could have waited but was made to wait outside for 5+ hours. If it wasn’t for the grounded flights and chaos, I would have booked elsewhere. I want a refund.

No one would let me into the room and I had to get another hotel room 15 minutes away. No one apologized or acknowledged the situation.

This is a great place to stay at. I would definately stay here again. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The area is walkable and has lots of great options for dining, shopping and enjoying your time (the beach is less than 5-8mins walking distance).

I’m not giving it a 5start rating because, as part of the maintenance schedule, they needed to carry out pest control. They advised with plenty of time to prepare, ensured the person was escorted in, and the work was done quickly. But their timing could be better.

I tried to contact the manager more than three times, but failed to receive a call from them. The staff was not transferring my feedback to the manager.

I’m not usually someone who leaves reviews—especially not negative ones—but I do think it’s helpful for future guests to know what to expect. The management was very accommodating when our air conditioning wasn’t working properly on the first night, and we appreciated their responsiveness.
We stayed for eight nights, and during that time we never received fresh towels, even after reaching out to management about it. We also had a day where we were asked to leave the apartment for a period of time so the unit could be sprayed for bugs, which felt a bit unusual during an active stay.
We had read that the property could be a little noisy because of the street, which we didn’t mind, but one night there was what sounded like a club-level party happening below us. The music was extremely loud, and we weren’t able to sleep until very late despite having pillows over our heads.
Cleanliness overall seemed decent, but we did find some items left behind on top of the cabinets that made us question how thorough the cleaning process is. The shower water also never got warm—only cold—which may have been specific to our unit but was definitely uncomfortable.
We also struggled with the Wi-Fi throughout our entire stay. Nothing would load on our phones, and the TV would cut out every 5–10 minutes before taking a long time to reconnect.
I really wanted to love this place, and there were aspects that showed promise, but overall I can’t say it was the best fit for us.

I had a great stay and would stay again in a heartbeat. The property is clean, cute, and centrally located near great local food, coffee, grocery stores and pharmacies, beaches, and attractions, with easy access by Uber or bus to Viejo San Juan. The outdoor lounge area was lovely too. Staff was incredibly accommodating. They were easy to get in touch with via text. They offer luggage storage for before check-in time and after check-out time and, when they heard my flight was coming in early, they cleaned and prepared my room early too. The only thing I wish is that my room (one of the small studio rooms) had seating beyond the bed. But this is a minor wish and didn't post an issue at all; the air conditioning and wifi both worked well, the bed was very comfortable, and it was great to have a coffee maker, mini fridge, toaster, and microwave in the room too. Definitely recommend! Muchas gracias for a great stay!

The property was very close to anything you may want to visit. Grocery store, restaurants, beach, and attractions. The property also felt very safe. It was in a quiet neighborhood where we had no problems at all. The home was very clean and everything was in working order. My family and I would love to stay here again.

I had a wonderful stay at La Mona Loiza Apartments Complex in Puerto Rico. The location was perfect—close enough to local attractions, beaches, and restaurants to explore easily, yet peaceful enough to relax and unwind. The property was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches that made the stay feel special. The staff was welcoming and helpful, providing great recommendations for things to do in the area. Overall great experience. Thank you!

I loved the location! It was a peaceful stay for us. Private, and quiet . Bebo’s restaurant right on the corner was a flex! Small dimmed out bars, cozy nights!

Upon arrival, it was a little hard to find my room once in the complex (even though they did give good instructions). I didn’t realize I had to walk through what I initially thought was someone else’s garage in order to get to my apartment, as there were cars parked in the area. Once I located my apartment, and I had difficulty figuring out the that little box on the side of the entrance contained the lock code, which you could only access once I realized you had to slide down the plastic piece to reveal the lock combination. Once the code was entered, I was able to slide down the button and open up the lower box which contained the key. Thankfully, a staff member was able to assist me. I had never seen a contraption like that before and trying to figure it out/fiddle with it made me feel like I was going to break it. Once I was able to finally get into the apartment, I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean, spacious enough for me, and the bed was comfortable. The decor was updated and modern. I loved the scent of all of the toiletries they provided. You can’t be a place like this for the price.
