We did not have water and when we arrived the door code is wrong, a very frustrating experience. If u do not have water, u should have ur customers cancel and rebook with a hotel that is in welcoming conditions, horrible experience

For the price and the location being so close to Viejo San Juan, I think this place is a pretty good deal.

BUT, the advertising and where we ended up being assigned were two totally different things; the view and the pictures posted were not the same as what we had. We got the view of the construction and the street, not the neighborhood or the aesthetically pleasing patio, the walls were paper thin so we heard the ambience of the area and our neighbors the entire trip. The bathroom was outdated and needs to be remodeled, and the shower needs to be resurfaced and re-tiled. Our mini fridge wasn’t that cool either, so storing store-bought food was out of the question.

Parking was first-come first-serve on the street, so if that’s something that bothers you, I think there was a garage nearby with paid parking.

I booked this hotel for my husband‘s birthday, and I wish I had known in advance that there was some sort of water crisis happening in the area because for our whole four day stay, we had no water and had to purchase gallons at the nearby supermarket. It was really disappointing to be messaged hours before check-in about the water situation and having no time to cancel and rebook something else; although there was an offer, I think on the second day of us being there, to cancel before Monday, it was too short notice to find another place at a reasonable price.

All in all, we made do.

The biggest help was there constant communication with us they never missed a beat whenever we had any problems they were quick with responding. There happened to be a water pipe burst on the island and they immediately let us know what was happening and gave us options for what we wanted to do. They also made it a point to have water put into there reserve tank to help everyone out. The small things they did amazing I would highly recommend La Mona 1000/10

The apartment was very spacious, clean, and in a great location. The beach was only about a 5-minute walk away, and there were plenty of restaurants and dining options nearby.

Communication was generally good; however, when we requested additional bath towels, we did not receive a response. Fortunately, we were able to get some from a staff member who was taking care of the pool area.

The only issue we experienced was with the air conditioning. There was no remote control available, so we were unable to adjust the temperature in the living room, which was much too cold during our stay.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the excellent location and cleanliness of the apartment.

The property was clean and comfortable. The water in the shower went between boiling hot and cool, but shampoo, conditioner, and body/hand wash and a shower cap were provided. Check in was easy, and late check out costs $25/hr after 11am. The pool was nice and cute! Less than 10 min walk to the beach and 1 block to a 24hr grocery store. I would stay here again!

The location is great! It has a great restaurants and shops on the same street and is close to the Art Museum, grocery store, and the main street of Condado, which has beach access. This property is great for couples or solo travelers as it is affordable and in a fun part of town. The rooms are a comfortable size and the staff is very kind.

Please figure out the shower system, it’s either scorching hot, or no water pressure and cold. WiFi was also kind of mid. Apart from that, pretty good, just be careful around the area, sometimes it gets congested.

The front door does not work properly. My entire stay it gave me trouble to where I didnt want to leave at night. It is a very tall door on a magnet and even with the code it was almost impossible to open sometimes. I relied on people to help me and at one point got locked out at night. other than that the stay was as expected for price.

Absolutely horrible place. They just completely lied about the property and the photos on their listing. First of all it was impossible to locate. And once we finally got in our room which also was hard to locate, it was disgusting. Stained furniture, dirty floors and ceilings. Everything was falling apart. Water was barely working, no pressure at all. No hot water! All the fixtures and everything was just falling apart. Such a horrible place. We literally called and told them we’re leaving. And we did. Went across the street to double tree hotel and that was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE.

This is centrally located in a great area - grocery stores and plenty of restaurants nearby. Also just a 10 ish minute walk from the beach!! It’s very easy to get into old San Juan via uber. The hotel manager was very responsive to emails - I always got a reply within the day and even within the hour the two times I had questions. Highly recommend!! Very clean and modern feeling.

I arrived 12 hours later (3:30AM) than planned due flight delays, so I had a bit of trouble negotiating the lockbox in the dark. The apartment was beautiful and had just about everything I would need. The one quibble with the unit I had was, while a toaster and mini coffee maker were provided, there was no available receptacle in the kitchen to plug them into.
GREAT location! Highly recommend! Would definitely stay there again!

Very solid hotel option in the middle of santurce. The room is cleanly and spacious at an affordable price. The only things to note are that there is no front desk service and you’ll have to call ahead for cleaning service on your room. Also the front door has some steep steps going down and can swing open a little vigorously when windy.

This is a very well managed property with a number of rooms over 3 floors. All communication was timely, accurate and useful, and the staff on site were also helpful.
This property is brilliantly located on C. Loíza, so within easy walking distance of plenty of eateries/bars/shops and just a 5-minute walk to the beach. La Placita is a $5 Uber ride away.
The room is ideal - clean, comfortable, and with great amenities (toiletries, coffee machine plus coffee/creamer/sugar, microwave, iron and mini ironing board, fridge, glasses and mugs, pool towels).
The communal areas (stairways, landings, entrance, pool area) are all very well maintained, pleasant and welcoming.
I would very happily stay here again - great value for money 👍

Buenas tardes , El check-in fue un poco tarde a las 4 pm en la reservación decía que podíamos entrar temprano que llamáramos lo cual hize pero no fue posible entrar temprano porque el cuarto no estaba listo , después eran las 3:59 y no me habían mandado los codigo de acceso al hotel y cuarto y habían dos entradas para acceder al
Hotel lo cual era un poco complicado para conseguir los códigos eran muchos Códigos se nos hacía un poco difícil en fin después al segundo día no teníamos agua lllegamos de la playa y no había ni 1 gota de agua lo cual la encargada en el teléfono de informarnos que pasaba nos dijo que había un problema con el agua en San Juan gracias a dios al día siguiente si tuvimos agua con respecto a limpieza aire acondicionado estuvo bien el cuarto estaba muy limpio y amplio la cama estuvo bien el personal hacía mucho ruido en las mañanas no se que hacían a las 6am pero era muy molesto no necesitaba despertador en fin un 80 de 100 para mi gusto pero son cosas que se pueden mejorar de resto todo bien gracias ….

It is no front office. Once you arrive. The rooms are actually very good, but it is very poor communication with the staff and everything has to be done online. Even when you arrive. It is no official place to go if you need help with anything. The rooms and the location are actually very very good. But once you arrive you are on your own.

I came to San Juan for a comfortable vacation on a relatively small budget, and La Mona Loiza was the perfect place for my needs! It's close to the beach and a lot of good food, and its location makes it very easy to get to other parts of San Juan.
The amenities are comfortable. This isn't an all-inclusive resort, but it had everything I needed for my stay and I never felt like I lacked supplies. The pool is small, but perfect for a relaxing cool-down at any time of the day or night- I took an hour or so in the pool every night before bed.
The staff were friendly and approachable, even with my limited Spanish. I was always able to find someone if I needed anything.

This place is VERY basic. I traveled with my partner and it was just what we needed. It is conveniently located next to a plaza which is a perfect “pickup” location if you book tours with provided shuttle transportation. It is near many convenient stores. You don’t meet any of the staff but they respond to messages in a timely manner. I would recommend bringing kitchen utensils since they don’t provide but they have all the other basic needs. AC WORKS! Which is great after a long day of beaching. If you just need a place to crash and shower this is perfect. The only down side is the parking if you use a rental. It’s only street parking, first come first serve. Hope this helps!

Great stay! The location was perfect to walk to a lot of restaurants, some shopping, and a couple beaches. It’s a really cute place with a nice little pool. Room was great. They let us check in early with a fee. Communication was great and the staff were really friendly. The only thing to be aware of are the mosquitoes that get into the room.

The pictures you see are not what you get. There is a bed and a bathroom! These are not apartments. Very very disappointing. My family could not stay and had to scramble to find another place with no help from the host. Their representatives told me they have nothing that looks like the pictures in their website. I hope Expedia is going to refund my money for this location.

Booked a kitchenette room but there was no table or seating—only the bed, so we had to eat all our meals there. The bathroom was dirty upon arrival, and the toilet ended up leaking. Staff temporarily threw towels on the floor and didn’t properly follow up after it was fixed—leaving towels soaked in toilet water behind in the bathroom.

We also had no hot water for about two days before it was finally fixed, which was extremely frustrating. There was mold in the bathroom, which I reported, but I was told no other rooms were available.

The coffee maker was broken and dirty, the lamp shade had visible stains, the blind in the room was broken, and hallways were unclean. Even the communal washer and dryer looked old and gross. I was also told I’d be charged $10 for extra towels.

Parking is also a problem—thankfully we were able to find street parking around the corner during our stay.

The pool is extremely small (fits about 5 people). Only positive is the location, about 5–15 minutes from the beach.

Very disappointing overall. Hotel offered no refund or compensation . Would not stay again.

The rooms were not clean. The property itself could use a good deep clean. The bathroom was honestly the worst part. There was no divider between the shower and the rest of the bathroom so the water went EVERYWHERE!!! Extra towels were so soaked after every shower. Everything was wet in the bathroom. Patio door wouldn't lock on the bottom latch. Called them to let them know. Prompt service but couldn't get it fixed. Top of door was latched, so it was fine. Didn't feel unsafe. AC works great. Might recommend having more than just 2 of everything, ie. plates, spoons, forks, cups. Overall place was very nice.

Stayed here during a girls trip and at first it seemed nice but once we got settled in we noticed all of the things that made this place not worth it. The kitchen baseboards were falling apart, the utensils were dirty and the small stove was dirty as well. The shower needs a good deep cleaning and the couch had a stain on it. Property was not cleaned on a daily basis there was a mess in the lobby for several days. The patio and the furniture outside was dirty. The chairs near the pool were not clean. Tv did not work we were able to turn it on once but did not turn on again. Also the WiFi sucks was barely able to get 2 bars if I was lucky. It could be a nice place if it was cleaned properly on a daily basis but it clearly is not.

This was a great location for our short two night stay. Having only one key was not convenient, the lock box was difficult to open;, if you are in a group that doesn’t come and go together it’s annoying!!!
Also, the pool is small, it’s a plunge pool only (the pictures make it look bigger), but good for a quick soak after a long day.
This is a great apartment if you are only sleeping there, common areas are not comfortable for a large group and the kitchen has the bare minimum! I bought and donated a wine tool ha!
We had a great last minute stay, the price was good, location was good (four blocks from a beach access, one block from a grocery store and super convenient for Ubers all around San Juan).

I read the reviews beforehand and, unfortunately, they were accurate. When we arrived, the room was not clean—the bathroom in particular had hair around the toilet, which was very off-putting. There was a strong air freshener plugged in, and once I removed it, the bathroom smelled like urine.
Additionally, the TV and Wi-Fi were not working, which was inconvenient. The room was also very dark, and we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy, making it feel even more closed in.
Overall, the experience did not meet expectations and could definitely use improvements in cleanliness and maintenance.

We had a great stay here in the two family bedroom apartment! I really loved the kitchen area, the secure gates, and the blasting AC. The apartment was in the perfect area for walking, Uber, and essentials. Grocery store is around the corner and the gym is a 15 minute walk! We would definitely stay again.

Stayed here from Wednesday to Sunday in late March. I will say most reviews that I read prior to going were spot on. Do not go here expecting a front desk and staff on premises. It is an apartment building as listed and not a hotel. We arrived early as I had informed them we would. Codes to building worked so that was great, but we had no idea where to go. Only staff you will find are the cleaning people who were helpful. They took our bags and the one very nice young woman offered to get our apartment done early so we could get in early. Huge positive!
1BR apartment was cute although the sitting room/kitchenette area are kinda a waste. Couch but no tv in that room so we didn’t even use it. Very clean. AC was great! Always nice and cold! Balcony was nice to sit on. Love where it is located. Easy walk to the beach and many stores and restaurants close by. Uber was always less than 5 min wait when we used. Pool is a small jacuzzi size but we knew that. Nice outside area to sit and relax but we stuck to our balcony.

The not so good:
When I asked for clean towels I was informed that unless we were there a week, we either had to wash ourselves using washer on site or pay (apartment not a hotel). Not a huge deal but be aware.
Tv - internet is ok at best. Works sometimes and doesn’t others. Signal was strong but don’t think it’s meant for so many devices at once. When internet is down, tv is down.
Overall it’s a great spot and would stay again!

While the room setup itself looks like the photos online and is very cute, I’ve run into a number of issues. The Wi-Fi is very unreliable. It works only sometimes, and because of that, the TV only connects occasionally.
Also you have to throw the toilet paper in the trash as the toilet cannot flush toilet paper.
When I arrived, the window had been left open and there were small bugs on the counter, which I assume may have been due to the window being open. I also noticed what looked like a paint stain on the sheets, and the floor didn't seem fully cleaned, as there were hairs and some dust/dirt left behind. Crumbs were in the beside drawer.
Another issue is that all of the wall outlets are hidden behind heavy furniture or in hard-to-reach areas. The only accessible outlet is in the corner near the bathroom.
The location is great, which I appreciate, but it's also extremely noisy with cars driving by, honking, and people talking/yelling outside. From the online pictures, I had the impression that the rooms were within a more enclosed building that might reduce outside noise. While I understand that noise-free rooms cannot be guaranteed, it would've been helpful to know the building is open to the outside in a very busy tourist area, as that makes the room much more sensitive to surrounding noise.
I messaged about these issues and all that was said was sorry for the inconvenience and would I like the housekeeper to deliver new bedsheets. Not even offering to re-clean the room.

I was able to store luggage when I arrived early. FYI the pool is nice to have but is size of a hot tub so dont expect a \"swimming \" pool.

Nothing like the images. The room was relatively clean, but the balcony was filthy and did not overlook the garden. The whole exterior of this place needs a good power wash. Even the white umbrellas around the \"pool\" were covered in green algae. We checked out a day early as there was no water in the bathroom and moved into a hotel. I don't understand the owners' mentality, who could make it passable with a small investment.

I had a great time staying here as a solo-female traveler. The location was super easy for uber pickup/drop off, the beach was a 5-7 minute walk away, and tons of different shops and restaurants were within a 15 minute walk. Old San Juan is about a 12-15 minute uber ride away. I generally felt safe in my unit (I wasn’t staying out too late so I can’t speak to late night happenings). I would definitely consider staying here again. The only minor complaint I have is around cleanliness. The bathroom had at least 3 different people’s hair in various places that were immediately obvious when I used it for the first time. Ultimately it wasn’t that much of a problem for me.

The check in and check out instructions provided were super clear and easy to follow, and communication from the property about regularly scheduled maintenance was timely and professional.

Everything about our stay at La Mona Loiza Sta was 5 stars.
Check in was very easy, and easy step by step instructions on how to get into our room.
The room was clean. Parking was not hard at all even on a Friday/Saturday, maybe we got lucky.
The only complaint I have is the shower didn’t have enough water pressure and it was either very hot or cold, but not a big deal.
I would 100% stay here again.

Pros: Great location with easy access to a quality grocery store, restaurants, and the beach. The room was a good size and water pressure in the shower was good. Uber to/from the airport is $7-9 USD one-way. The check-in process is very easy. Clean room & building.

Cons: $10 to get new towels even though we are staying 6 days. The internet was really bad (loses connection in all rooms through the day, could not enjoy the smart TV at night when relaxing or trust the connection for any virtual work). If your room is at the front of the building, there is a lot of car noise throughout the day - loud music,honking. The traffic light near the building is very busy so loud music can last 1-2 minutes at a time. Outlets in the bedroom were blocked by furniture and most convenient way to charge phones were to use the kitchen or living room. You are asked not to flush toilet paper.

Overall, this was a good place to stay for a couple of days. The location is great, near restaurants and the beach.

The biggest downside was the traffic noise. Our apartment faced the main road, and the traffic noise was very loud at times. There were a lot of vehicles that had music so loud we could hear every word. It didn’t help that there was a large gap in the door that let the sound in.

Despite all that, we were usually so tired from the day that we slept pretty good both nights.

Third stay at this location. Well situated and within walking distance of the beach and shops. The place is well maintained. The only concern was that the apartment we received didn't match the one we had selected on the website. We contacted the host who replied that this was normal and depended on availability. The bathroom was very small and the front door wasn't properly sealed, letting in a few mosquitoes. Otherwise, a good stay overall.

I recently stayed at this property and unfortunately had a disappointing experience.

First, the room looked noticeably different from the photos advertised online. The expectations set by the listing did not match what was actually provided.

Each guest was given only one towel, and the property charges $10 for a replacement. In a warm, beach-type tourist destination, that policy feels unreasonable and inconvenient.

There were also no clear directions or signs to help locate the apartments/rooms, which made arrival confusing. To make matters worse, the main gate stopped working during the stay, creating additional frustration and concerns about security and accessibility.

The bathroom and shower were extremely small — almost cruise-ship sized — making them uncomfortable to use. On top of that, the shared/public areas were poorly maintained and did not feel clean or welcoming.

Overall, the stay did not meet expectations and I would not recommend this property.

The convenience of this location was outstanding!! The staff was nice and I would’ve loved to give this location 5 stars however, the water issue at this property put a huge dent in our overall experience. Firstly, there is little to no hot water at this property, we were told after check in that there have been some plumbing issues on the street. Also another HUGE inconvenience is the property asks that you do not flush any toilet paper, wipes, etc down the toilet due to the sensitivity of the pipes. This can be gross and inconvenient especially considering there is no daily cleaning service to pickup towels. It would’ve been good to have this information before booking.
