This is a great place to stay and we enjoy it.

If I were to describe Puerto Rico in general with one word, it would be \"clean.\" There is almost no litter on the street, and certainly very little on any of the beaches we visited. La Esmeralda PR is no exception. Our suite was spotless. I would caution visitors that the building's promotional photos are old. Our unit had a lot of wear and tear, from a broken chair leg to a cabinet door that wouldn't close to chipped floor tiles. Rusted metal outside, which I think is unavoidable in that climate. We rented their beach chairs and umbrellas and one umbrella was broken and the beach chairs were old. Turns out beach chairs and umbrellas are not the done thing on the local beach. I had to ask for sheets for the single bed three times. We couldn't unlock the gate to park our car and wound up with a $50 parking ticket after being told we could park outside of the gate. The owners claim they unlocked it for us but that was not our experience.

The location was great, very close to everything. The room was clean. The bed was kind of uncomfortable and the light from the AC unit lights up the whole room at night which makes it a little hard to sleep. Overall, I’d stay there again.

Room was clean, no staff present, place was locked up like a prison but seemed safe enough. walking distance to beach and restaurants, bars, Walgreen's, laundry etc. I would recommend to younger people who are fit but not to retired people who may have walking difficulties. Driving is insane in San Juan and this area was no different.

Everything was amazing! Check in and parking (street parking) was quick and easy. Lots of restaurants, bars, and the beach within walking distance. We stayed in the Garnet room and it was more than enough room for two people.

The morning we're getting ready for the airport, the water stopped while I was in the shower. I tried to call the number provided when checked in because this place doesn't have a front desk and no answers.
We ended up going to the airport without showers/ no teeth being brushed, it was horrible.
My advice is to get a room with a front desk, with $250/night you can get a much better place.

the rooms were good, but the remotes for the tv and the air conditioners did not work well and there were not enough towels in the bathrooms. Also, the host said we could park in the gated area, but then someone else parked in front of it, blocking our access to it. Otherwise the place was clean and nice being near the park.

Our family of 4 had an amazing visit! The apartment was clean and spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The location was marvelous and close to stores and restaurants. The kitchen also had 2 burners, so I was able to cook home meals. The air conditioning was freezing, which was a plus for me! There’s also a beautiful park right across the street that is well lit that has different activities. The security police are always patrolling in their vehicles. Very safe with 2 gates and our front door. Definitely would recommend.

nice little uilding in despeartie need of cleaning inside and outside. Buy a powerwasher for Pete's sake! big gap under the entry door and a big lizard came and ran around the front room our first night. Also we had 50 or so case bug cocoons all over especail in the door jambs and corners of the walls. Kitchen items were old and cheap. Bedroom light is old, crusty and didn't work. Bathroom mirror needs to be replaced. Wouldn't take much to make this place much more comfortable and protect your valuable investment!

I loved the room and the location and had a great sleep. The room was large and nicely appointed. The space felt very secure, my room was large and had a fantastic patio and cool decor.
My only feedback is about entering the property. I had difficulty with the gate and was instructed to look for angel statues to find the key but the statues were covered with bags of laundry so it took a while.
It was still a 5 star experience and I will be back.

Our stay at La Esmeralda was absolutely wonderful. We spent 2 nights here and I loved the location to the airport and Old San Juan. It’s close to everything! The room was well kept with AC on when we arrived. Check in and Check out process was so efficient and easy. Even provided free secure private parking. There was a dog next door that barked at night. But he barks when needed as a guard dog should. (Extra peace of mind) nothing I would complain about. The property it’s super cute that even includes beach towels and coolers if you would like to keep drinks cold while you enjoy PR. We felt safe here and will definitely be coming back to check out the other rooms available. Thanks a bunch!!!

Plenty of space for my trip and even included a gated-off parking area for me! Fairly close to the populated city area, but not close enough to walk there. Decent restaurants in the area. While not the most luxurious, the shower has hot water, the AC unit keeps the room cool, and my room had 4 levels of security: three gates and a deadbolt. Definitely recommend!

La Esmeralda was fantastic for the price! My only gripes were the WiFi was kind of mid and the bathroom was a little dirty. The area around it had a ton of restaurants, we were able to try a new restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner every day and still feel like we didn’t try everything. The AC works which was something I was worried would not be true when we got there. Bed was clean, towels and sunscreen provided so we didn’t have to buy them. Overall great experience and the staff was very responsive.

Stayed in the two bedroom apartment and everything was nice. Love that it is a couple blocks to the beach. It’s also walking distance to some restaurants and bars. Also, communication with owners was great; they answered all my questions in a timely manner. Parking space is directly underneath and gated for security. Overall very pleased with our stay.

The apartment is super close to the beach and the property is very nice and clean, however unfortunately there is no screen door which makes it impossible to leave the door open at night and the deck itself has no sun roof so using it during the day is kinda out of the question. We loved our 6 day stay. The property was quiet and very secure. Check in instructions were very easy to follow. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and it had everything we needed (stove, dishes, refrigerator, two bathrooms, dining area). There was a dedicated parking spot for just $5 per day and there was also plenty of street parking. The beach was about 2 blocks away and was a small quiet beach. There were shops, restaurants, and markets within a few blocks. The host was very responsive when we had questions. Definitely would stay again and would recommend to others.

Checked in on our stay to make sure we didnt need anything for the remainder of our stay. The best thing for me, was it was walking distance from my favorite breakfast/coffee shop in Puerto Rico (the coffeeteria)!!!!!! Would definitely stay here again! My biggest two issues were that the ice section of the refrig was solid ice and the ice tray frozen in. I had to defrost and clean up and even despite that it was noisy so just shut if off. The other was that the lights on the outside of the building were so bright the shades were useless. I didn't need lights on to walk around inside in the dark and made it harder to sleep. Not really happy but I'm guessing this is common in that area.

La Esmeralda is a perfect place to stay in San Juan. Our suite was clean and beautiful. The kitchen is equipped with fridge, microwave, hotplate, and coffee maker. We liked the location and privacy. Self check in and out was easy, convenient onsite parking and walking distance to beach. The beach towels were a nice touch. We would have liked more bath towels. There was only one set for the whole week. Another cereal bowl would have been nice too ( there was only one) and maybe replacing rusty dish drainer. No complaints, just an honest review. We recommend and would stay here again.

Nice location. About a 10 min drive from the airport. Less than a 5 min walk to the beach. Lots of eateries and stores within walking distance. I never felt unsafe walking the neighborhood. Rental was nice, clean & affordable. The only drawback was the neighbor’s dog barks sometimes. It’s not a constant thing but if people are highly sensitive, they might be bothered. Some of the locals drive crazy, but thats to be expected. Hardly anybody uses turn signals and some even take red lights. Use caution while driving in P.R. It has nothing to do with the property but just to give you a head’s up. The owner has amazing communication at lighting fast speed. I asked a question through text and received a response within 2 mins. I would stay at this place again if I come back to San Juan

We arrived at one AM, directions to enter and get keys and park were clear and easy. Parking was only $5 a day. We had a one bedroom, living room area, kitchen area with cups, utensils. Had a little back are to sit if you wanted! When you come out walk two short blocks to a public beach, you can rent chairs and buy cheap delicious drinks from Ramon! Walkable to many local, reasonable places to eat. Had everything we needed! Definitely would stay again!

My partner and I stayed here during our most recent trip to puerto rico. The property is located in a super convenient area being around 10 minutes from the airport & 10 minutes from old san juan. We stayed in the Tulum suite which had a spacious bedroom & living room. The unit was extremely clean. The owner was very friendly, responsive and welcoming. They offered us many recommendations around the island. We loved our stay and will definitely stay here next time we stay in Puerto Rico!!!
