I picked this hotel for its location and price, and both delivered, mostly. Check-in was an unexpected adventure: after being told our room would be ready when we returned, we had to check in all over again because apparently they didn’t know we’d already paid. Our room for three was cozy, with the second bed being a small pull-out couch that doubled as a contortionist challenge. Still, it was clean, felt safe, and the location can’t be beat, right in the heart of everything.

The room was small but very clean. There was no fridge. Parking was available for a $15. Fee. The breakfast was free and good. The eggs needed to be warmed up. A cot was provided as requested. All the employees were friendly. The Christmas markets were a good 15 minute walk. It was a good stay.

This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the Notradame Cathedral, a laundromat, and many dining options. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. Our room’s AC stopped working and the staff were quick to change our rooms. There is no washer and dryer onsite. Parking is limited, but you can park on the street. The police department is very close to the hotel.

Customer service to be improved

I’m writing to express my disappointment with the parking situation during our recent stay.

Prior to our arrival, I contacted the hotel to request a reserved parking space but received no response. Upon arrival, we were informed that the parking lot was full. When we asked where we could park, the receptionist simply told us to park on the street. While looking for a spot, we saw a car with a cracked rear window, raising concerns about the safety of the area. When we asked the receptionist about the security of the neighborhood, the response was, “That’s not our problem.”

I find this attitude unacceptable. As paying guests, we expect at least a basic level of customer service, including timely responses to inquiries and a respectful, helpful attitude from staff. While I understand that availability may be limited and certain matters may be out of your control, communication and courtesy are not.

I hope you take this feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve your service for future guests.

Location and price were the only reasons we booked here. It’s like a small town American holiday inn, nothing special and you’re lucky if it’s clean. Cleanliness and the bathroom were its only plus. It was essentially a dorm room with 2 hard twin beds and sack of feather flat pillows, old carpet, pullout couch bed that we didn’t need and a tea kettle. The staff are marching to the beat of their own drum, so have patience. The breakfast is ok and I appreciate their compost plan. The area is clean and safe, it’s also right on a stream and close to the bus stop.

Stayed at busy time as Xmas market finishing. Had tried to book parking in advance through Expedia app and received no response, and told on arrival that the hotel can’t access the chat on the app. Without allocated parking it is very inconvenient managing a mix of nearby street and multi-storey parking (although it could be found) The room was very expensive for its size - we paid family suite prices for a standard room filled with 2 singles and a sofa bed.The hotel is conveniently located on edge of town and is well sound proofed, but the interior needs modernising. Lifts can get very busy. The staff were friendly and doing their best. Breakfast buffet was decent.

The hotel is conveniently located and walking distance to the attractions. The breakfast was good and had a variety of items. There were a few issues with the room, that were quickly fixed by the friendly staff. We were first assigned a room that had not been cleaned. We were promptly provided a new room. The TV was not working, but someone came up right up to fix it. The coffee and vending machines were not working. Hotel price was a lot given the comfort of this hotel.

The air-conditioning was not working in the rooms, and the entire hotel and the rooms were hot. There are two elevators, and one was not working during the days we were there; the rooms' cleaners occupied it for at least an hour in the morning without allowing the guests the priority to use the only working elevator to catch their appointments. The hotel management should have arranged this as long as they knew that only one elevator was working!!

Due to recent flight cancellations we travelled back via Strasbourg on the way to Paris.

This hotel was well placed from the city centre and transport connections.

We arrived late and the reception swiftly checked us in and we had excellent support in delivering food as we had arrived so late off the back of a long journey.

The team couldn’t be more helpful.

Good value for money.

It’s what you would expect with any Holiday Inn Express. The name is a bit misleading as it’s not quite in the centre. But by no means far off. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the main tourist areas of the town. Taxi is advised for train station to hotel as it’s a long walk with luggage.
Helpful staff. Decent breakfast with some local cakes and pastries.

Pretty lobby area and good staff. It was about a mile from Strasbourg city square- the old town- and while there, we had a cold snap. It was too cold, icy and snowy to walk much. I wish there had been a hotel shuttle.

Okay but overpriced for what you get.

This hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the tram but was a safe area. The room itself was small for 3 people. The second bed was extremely uncomfortable and even concave in the center which made it difficult to get out of. The tile in the bathroom needs the grout cleaned and around the bottom of the shower door needs to be cleaned of rust or something. Breakfast was okay but nothing warm to eat.

Bathrooms and toilets were not very clean as expected from other comments.

One of the two elevators was out of order, which was very inconvenient and required long waiting times each time.

There were not enough parking spaces in the facility, and we had to find a parking space on the surrounding street.

It was crowded during breakfast time and there were not enough tables.

There was a long time without hot water for the shower, which was inconvenient.

It's exactly what you would expect from a Holiday Inn! So a decent place to stay with a breakfast (that is simply ok). It's right on a highway, so it can be a little noisy and is a bit of a walk from the main part of the city. But as long as that's ok, this is a great, inexpensive place to stay.

The hotel is located about 15-20 minute walk to Notre Dame Cathedral. It is also about a 5-8 minute walk to the tram. There is a park right behind the hotel.

Rooms:
The beds are hard as a rock. The pillows are small and also hard.

The AC works well.

There is coffe/tea, cups and a kettle.

Basic toiletries-3 in 1 hair, body and hand wash. There is no conditioner or body lotion.

Breakfast:
It is included with your stay.
We were there three nights. I think the options never vary, but, it certainly can satisfy.
There was:
Fruit salad
Whole fruits
Yogurts
Cheese
Cold cuts
Breads
Cereals
Milks, including Almond milk
Coffee machine which also makes hot chocolate
Boiled eggs
Jams, honey and butter

We probably would not stay again, because for us, the bedding and pillows were uncomfortable. But if a pillow top mattress and comfortable pillow is not necessary for your back and neck, it is a decent and clean place to stay.

Personnel:
The fron desk personnel are very helpful and friendly.
The dining room personnel keep the eating area clean.

Very enjoyable stay, hotel very full so breakfast area busy, though plenty of supplies.
The only problem was parking. the website said that parking was payable on arrival. I was unaware that it had to be reserved in advance - maybe I missed this fact, but it wasn't obvious to me.
Found a place on the street after a search. Paid city parking was a distance away and not convenient.

They went out of their way to ensure we had a great holiday! The breakfast area is large and clean with continental offerings, and the bar has great beer on tap. We would stay here again without hesitation.

The drain in the shower did not work well so had to keep stopping the running water to give it time to drain otherwise you would be standing in water

Room was not ready when we arrived. We decided to sight-see and check in later. We finally were checking in and they could not find our reservation. We stopped by and dropped off luggage, we should have been expected. They said our room had a balcony… it only had a window. The TV or air conditioning did not work. The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress was a spring mattress. Did not get a good night sleep. The staff was very kind, but the establishment was a disappointment.

Modern hotel within walking distance to downtown

We usually travel quite extensively around the world. This was our first trip since the COVID-19 lock-down in France in mid-March. This hotel is very modern in a very quiet area close to park spaces and walking paths. It is located about 20-25 min walk from the cathedral and the downtown core. Very friendly staff but we had some disappointments during our stay. While the masks are mandatory outside your room (good thing), there are serious flaws at breakfast. Unlike other hotels we went to during the same period in Germany and the Netherlands where staggered times were instituted at breakfast to avoid overcrowding and maintain social distancing, nothing of that sort was done at that hotel. We were shocked to arrive at an overcrowding breakfast where more than 50 people waited in very close-proximity to serve themselves from a buffet line using communal serving spoons (something to avoid entirely during a pandemic). The room temperature cannot be controlled (which is a big inconvenience when it is very hot 35C+). The management should add portable fans in every room to make it more comfortable. Additionally the Hotel.com website should be more precise. The website shows that the hotel has rooms with \"King Size' beds but in reality they do not (with the exception of rooms for handicapped people which I could not get). Knowing that, I would have stayed elsewhere because at 1m95, I definitely require a larger bed.

Nice hotel in a good location. Room was very small, however. We booked a “king” bed, but it was only a queen. Queen size is the largest sized bed the hotel has. I found this to be false advertising either by Hotels.com or by Holiday Inn. Staff was outstanding!
